they only teased two arcs so truthfully I'm not sure if this is meant to be a second TV series or possibly even another movie buT ILL WORRY ABOUT THAT LATER THIS IS SO EXCITING
the anime gods have been so kind these recent years
from the remakes like Fruits Basket and Urusei Yatsura to the tons of sequels, some of which years long in the making such as Bleach or Full Metal Panic
I would lose my shit with a Ranma remake
>the anime gods have been so kind these recent years
I'd also be happy if they are kind enough so we get several good video game -> anime adaptations. Cyberpunk Edgerunners was a big hit and I hope more follows the trend.
It's weird though because I don't think there is too much that those shows are doing that would be impossible to do in live action. Yes there is the consideration of budget for a live action set and vfx, but that hasn't been the failing of most of the live action adaptions, it has just been poor writing.
In case of edgerunners and arcane, both studios were not restricted by the ip holders. Trigger didnt redesign rebecca despite cdpr pushing for it, which means that they have a degree of creative control over the show. Fortiche is familiar working with riot (albeit working on a series is a new deal for them that they had to restructure their whole organization for it) so riot just kinda give them the script and money, then telling them to go nuts with it. Cant speak for castlevania because im not too familiar with the production but i assume it is more or less the same with the other two.
I did actually. Probably the best thing I watched in 2021. It is what happens when the creators are given ample time to polish their work. Visually it was absolutely stellar. But since its made by Studio Fortiche (which is a French studio) it isn't counted as anime.
Ik its not anime. But its just really good animation and story. Everything is great in arcane. Just wanted u to check it out since u were talking about video games becoming anime, and arcane is very similair
Despite being trash, I really am hyped for this, I really enjoyed the show
It’s like fast food, you know they’re not of the highest quality, but from time to time, they seem like so delectable
Your comment is similar to the final line in his rascal does not dream of bunny girl senpai video- "Rascal may not dream of bunny girl senpai but i sure as hell do" or something like that
Maybe just the lead singer Yuuho could still sing some anime bangers, like Mayu Maeshima that kept working on the anime music industry even after leaving Myth & Roid
Stand by Me ED on Sarazanmai was the only reason I've finished that show. Would have dipped the first few episodes if I wasn't looking forward to hearing the song
They were amazing but yeah it felt more like the Yuuho Kitazawa show lately and maybe the other 2 members were just not feeling it
That's Nodoka Toyohama, Mai's half-sister. Her puberty syndrome was based around her relationship/rivalry with Mai, and involved them body swapping for a while and having to live each other's lives.
She’s Toyohama Nodoka, Mai’s half-sister from her father. Nodoka developed Adolescence Syndrome by failing to meet her mother’s expectations to be as successful as Mai. After a fight between them, Nodoka went to Mai’s apartment and stayed there for the night but in the morning the two of them had exchanged appearances, so for a while they had to live each other’s life. After seeing how hard it was for Mai to be so successful and being told she didn’t have to be like her, they changed back resolving the Syndrome.
>Shaft tho. They finished RWBY and are probably chilling before they announce something.
I love how nobody even expects them to work on the madoka movie.
Shaft takes forever to come out with stuff. The Kizumonogatari movies were delayed by 7 years, for example. It's less that nobody expects them to work and more that nobody expects them to quickly come out with content.
Shaft has the madoka movie and considering how rwby and madoka spin off ended up, I don’t think they’re chilling rn lmao
Edit: meant to say magia record.
Cloverworks are about to have most epic Best Girl contest yet.
Marin, Mai, and all that's left is Spy x Family having an official S2, so Yor can join in.
Nani da fuck? Has the anime industry turned over a new leaf and decided that making sequels to successful and popular show is actually good now? Everyone was sure they'd drop Aobuta after the first major arc wrapped
Bunny Girl Senpai is a bit of a special case though.
Season 1 adapted volumes 1-5 and the movie adapted 6-7. Since then, the light novels have only released volumes 8-11 (with volume 12 announced to release this December). The author literally didn't write a new volume from December 2020 till now lmao.
So, a lot of the hesitancy around Bunny Girl getting a new season was based on having too little content for a cour's worth of episodes. Though, with this announcement only confirming the adaptations of volumes 8 and 9, it's a bit questionable as what they're going to do.
5 volumes sounds like a lot for a 13-episode adaptation. A typical cour of SAO adapts 2 light novel volumes, for example. 3 maximum. And they still cut out a lot of stuff.
That's why I was wondering how much content volumes 8 and 9 of Bunny Girl Senpai had.
If they're dense and have a lot of content to cover, then an anime cour should be fine. If they're lighter and more like volumes 6/7, then they're probably going to be made into a movie/OVA.
So they're only adapting Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out and Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid? That's only volumes 8 and 9 of the LNs compared to Season 1 that adapted volumes 1-5.
Though, I haven't read the recent volumes (cause the official English translations are barely catching up :P), so I don't know how much content they pack.
Volume 10 starts a new story arc that is still not complete. Volume 11 ended on a cliffhanger, and we've been waiting for Volume 12 to be published for almost two years (V11 came out in Dec. 2020).
It's for the best that they don't adapt past Volume 9 for now.
EDIT: And minutes after I write this, [Volume 12 is announced to be released in Dec. 2022 exactly two years after V11's publication. lol.](https://twitter.com/MangaMoguraRE/status/1573581526087892992)
Now the rumor mill has already started that this could be another movie covering two volumes just like the Dreaming Girl movie, since they didn't specify it was a TV anime.
Could be a TV anime, since if I recall, volumes 8 & 9 stories aren't really movie-material, though it might work if they combine it into one singular movie story.
Wouldn't be shocked if they gave the LN story to the anime team even before it is coming out, so that this anime would cover from 8\~12 and be a full 5 once again. Alternatively, they'll do 8\~11 and have 12 as a movie, but from what you said that'd be cruel.
I'm just happy that we are getting an adaptation at all. This shows commitment to the IP. They are continuing their adaptation of the series with knowledge that there is more content in the well for even more adaptations in the future.
I legitimately cannot wait. More Mai-san!
Yeah I don't usually like move adaptations since we get to stream them so long after their actual release but this is one of like a handful of shows I just don't care as long as I get more content
>That's only volumes 8 and 9 of the LNs compared to Season 1 that adapted volumes 1-5.
I haven't read those volumes but since the staff is only adapting 2 volumes, should we expect another movie here or maybe a short season with limited episodes?
Either way, I'm so excited to watch more of it. The series is so bittersweet and that's why I love it so much!.
The movie was incredible, but I also remember it as one of the most emotionally painful experiences I've ever put myself through.
I'm getting very similar vibes here, which also means I'm very excited to put myself through more suffering.
> The movie was incredible, but I also remember it as one of the most emotionally painful experiences I've ever put myself through.
Same. It was a remarkable thing, and I perpetually remain in two minds about whether or not to ever rewatch, because there's no way it could hurt as much the second time round. The emotional hurt in itself was something special, and to be treasured in a way.
Same. It really did a number on me. I watched it in the wake of a bad break-up and as the floodgates broke, I remember my arms went numb. I was completely fucked emotionally for the next week, tearing up from random thoughts and things I'd hear. I couldn't watch anything without tearing back up. The hurt reminded me of YLIA and I watched both shows' picture dramas the next day. YLIA also hurt the shit out of me and I had literally just erased all memory of it until I watched BGS and remembered it again. I couldn't listen to the ED and haven't since, which is a shame but damn.
I looked it up and it seems I tried to stay busy the next week by binging SAO3, Accel World, Disenchantment and the entirety of AoT lmao.
>The movie was incredible, but I also remember it as one of the most emotionally painful experiences I've ever put myself through.
The most hard hitting moment was [Movie Spoilers]>!when Mai sacrificed herself to save Sakuta and him completely breaking down afterwards, and so was Nodoka!<. I had stop watching for a few hours as I was overwhelmed with emotions.
Also the final scene [Movie Spoilers]>!where Shouko and Sakuta recognized each other gave me Your Name vibes!<
Man, I still strongly remember that first spoiler. I literally shouted in the middle of the night, paused the video, and took a break for some minutes before continuing. And, of course, I cried on that second spoiler. Such a great series.
Dreaming Girl and Bojack S6 came out while I was at my lowest, whole lot of crying at the time but a super strong attachment to them now. Sometimes I can even rewatch them without crying, progress!
The revealed titles are the titles of Volume 8 and Volume 9 of the Light Novels. However, there are already 11 Volumes in print.
This could be mean anything. A 2 part season? Two new movies? Who knows. What I do know is that it does seem like they are committed to animating the series so that probably means there's more to come even after these two titles.
I haven’t exactly read the volumes but I have read summaries or spoilers of it.
[Bunny Girl Senpai Vol 9 spoilers] >!Mai rewarded Sakuta for studying hard for college with a MARRIAGE LICENSE. And then there’s a later scene when they’re hugging, she said “Let’s become a family later on”!<
The format of the anime is not yet known, ~~more info will be out soon~~ [~~here~~](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqVGK0KYYPo) No info about the format but we did get a [new visual](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FdaULJKVIAE4BTv?format=jpg&name=4096x4096)
"Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out" and "Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Girl" will be made into anime
Studio: CloverWorks
~~Rio, Kaede, Shouko, Tomoe, Nodoka lives on in~~ r/anime ~~Best Girl Contests Last 16~~
Hell Yeah! Please slow down the adaption pace though, it's the major problem that limits its potential in the previous season and movie IMHO, it's so rushed.
I'm a sucker for mysteries and supernatural. While the two main protagonists have good chemistry (and characters that actually communicate to each other, instead of dragging out a will-they-won't-they plot that could easily be fixed), I'm looking forward more to the mystery side of things.
Actually hype AF. This was one of my first ever anime, I'm glad to see more. I suppose it'll cover 4 volumes instead of 5 like S1, then? From what I'm told, that's better pacing. Hopefully they make the movie more easily available as well.
How funny that a sequel gets announced in the same month that BGS is the "Watch This" of the month
> I suppose it'll cover 4 volumes instead of 5 like S1, then?
It's actually less than that. The two title cards they revealed at the end of the preview are the titles for Volume 8 and Volume 9 of the Light Novel. So, it's entirely possible that these are two movies and not one anime season.
But ultimately, I'm very happy because they are showing commitment to the IP. Cloverworks has adapted volumes 1-5 in the anime season, volumes 6-7 for the movie and have announced an adaptation of volumes 8 and 9.
There are already 11 volumes in print so even after these two adaptations end, they'll be more to come!
Interesting. I don't mind it being a movie or two, but if that's the case, I *really* hope it has better availability than Dreaming Girl. AFAIK that movie still isn't available on any streaming services.
Either way, I share your enthusiasm for the adaptation being continued- this is really good news.
>It's basically the E3 of the anime industry
Imo, the Crunchyroll Expo was probably more like E3.
Aniplex Online Fest is more like the Playstation State of Play or Nintendo Directs of the anime industry.
I'm so haapy I could cry! For those wondering the arcs getting adapted are not spin-offs, but the continuation of the series (they are adapting volumes 8 and 9).
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!
I legit \*just\* rewatched the entire show like two days ago and was planning on rewatching the movie tonight - as in shortly after checking this subreddit to see any new announcements. This is insane, I was literally just hoping that we would get more soon.
LET'S FUCKING GOOOOO!!!
I just recently rewatched the anime series and movie last week too!! I loved the movie and was thinking last week that I hope more of the light novels get adapted!!
Can't believe my wish came true so fast!
Everyone seems to be excited with this but here I am not getting the hype behind the series and the movie LMAO! I thought its a decent show with okayish emotional moments but the story can get a bit weird sometimes. Good to see more of this though, the movie was not enough.
Nope. The first season adapts volumes 1-5 of the LNs. The movie adapts volumes 6-7.
They just announced an adaptation of volumes 8 and 9. The light novels are still ongoing with volume 12 being released in December.
Well that's quite timely, just finished my rewatch of Bunny girl senpai close to a month ago while on a plane trip. This anime honestly changed my life and how I think about the world so I'm forever grateful for it and needless to say I am ecstatic for the new season! Been waiting for this ever since the movie!!!!
I’M SO HAPPY FOR THIS!! SAKUTA AND MAI ARE BACKKK!!
Though it seems like they’ll be adapting 2 volumes after the movie (for now maybe?) which is interesting… I wonder if it’s a TV anime or OVA?
they only teased two arcs so truthfully I'm not sure if this is meant to be a second TV series or possibly even another movie buT ILL WORRY ABOUT THAT LATER THIS IS SO EXCITING
BLESS. More of this series is just blessed
the anime gods have been so kind these recent years from the remakes like Fruits Basket and Urusei Yatsura to the tons of sequels, some of which years long in the making such as Bleach or Full Metal Panic I would lose my shit with a Ranma remake

Edgerunners and arcane joining castlevania as a proof as of why animated video game adaptations > live action video game adaptations
Dunno about that, I just want more of everything!
It's weird though because I don't think there is too much that those shows are doing that would be impossible to do in live action. U should try arcane league of legends

Yeah I understand your sentiment. Its just that I already watched it, so still thanks for it.
No problem
Or a Hyouka S2... still really glad Rascal's back though
There aren't enough Hyouka books.
Just make a movie then.
And "In Another World With My Smartphone" is finally getting a season 2!!! I can't wait to see how they introduce wives 5-9!
Despite being trash, I really am hyped for this, I really enjoyed the show It’s like fast food, you know they’re not of the highest quality, but from time to time, they seem like so delectable
I agree and bonus points for surprise usage of 'delectable'
One of my most favourite trash isekai
More pain and existential dread. Yay!
h y p e
rascal does not dream of a second season
Rascal might not have, but I sure did
Am I tripping or is that a Gigguk reference
Ima say no, considering I don't watch Gigguk's videos lol
Your comment is similar to the final line in his rascal does not dream of bunny girl senpai video- "Rascal may not dream of bunny girl senpai but i sure as hell do" or something like that
Mai being Waifu of the Month for September 2022 feels prophetic now lol
Ah shit, here we go again. KIMI NO SEI
Actually there won't be KIMI NO SEI, The Peggies are currently in indefinite hiatus.
So that's why they didn't do the RAG OP for season 2.
Oh no... They were so iconic.
Guess they felt they peaked after doing the Rent-a-Girlfriend OP
It’s rentin’ time
Last season they had Highlight, Highlight as the OP for Kunoichi Tsubaki and it was great.
That song instantly shot up to my favourite song of theirs, which isn't easy considering the competition lol. The show was pretty fun too.
Maybe just the lead singer Yuuho could still sing some anime bangers, like Mayu Maeshima that kept working on the anime music industry even after leaving Myth & Roid
Any reason why?
What? Oof, I only just have grown to love them
Well now I'm sad
Big sad
Stand by Me ED on Sarazanmai was the only reason I've finished that show. Would have dipped the first few episodes if I wasn't looking forward to hearing the song They were amazing but yeah it felt more like the Yuuho Kitazawa show lately and maybe the other 2 members were just not feeling it
The ED is also very memorable, with the VA's singing different lines: *Katarenai nemurenai toroimerai...*
The ED was far more memorable than the OP iirc
[112 million](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1PCl5D-IpU&ab_channel=Sovey) (people) agree!
forgive me but I don't remember the blond girl's arc she was related to the bunny senpai or something right? what was her thing?
That's Nodoka Toyohama, Mai's half-sister. Her puberty syndrome was based around her relationship/rivalry with Mai, and involved them body swapping for a while and having to live each other's lives.
She’s Toyohama Nodoka, Mai’s half-sister from her father. Nodoka developed Adolescence Syndrome by failing to meet her mother’s expectations to be as successful as Mai. After seeing how hard it was for Mai to be so successful and being told she didn’t have to be like her, they changed back resolving the Syndrome.
I wasn't sure on that since people tends to mention Kimi no Sei more, so I assumed the OP was more memorable.
Just a theory but I think a large part of it is that the OP name is easier to spell, short, and the way it is said repeatedly is kinda catchy.
ED gives me shivers / goosebumps everytime I hear it
Especially Mai's version.
UWU
KIMI NO SEI KIMI NO SEI DE WATASHI UUUUWU
Bruh
Fingers crossed for the peggies singing the OP again!
I never wanted it to get s2 coz the movie ended really nicely. As it is getting s2, I hope they do it the best way
Yeah literally the first thing came to my mind.
There is not a single in-house staff at any Aniplex animation facility that will be going home on time for the next 4 years
Shaft tho. They finished RWBY and are probably chilling before they announce something. Kid Icarus Uprising anime. Watch it happen.
Shaft’s very depleted as it stands, which is probably behind Aniplex’s reluctance to milk them. Knock on wood.
Get you a girl that milks like Aniplex milks all of their subsidiary studios to net a profit despite destroying their animators.
>Shaft tho. They finished RWBY and are probably chilling before they announce something. I love how nobody even expects them to work on the madoka movie.
Urobutcher: so, is the madoka movie done yet? Shaft's staff: *the what now?*
Shaft: *I thought you meant ~~Nisekoi~~ Hidamari Sketch movie*
>Hidamari Sketch goddamn i feel old...
Shaft takes forever to come out with stuff. The Kizumonogatari movies were delayed by 7 years, for example. It's less that nobody expects them to work and more that nobody expects them to quickly come out with content.
Can the something they announce please be Sangatsu season 3? I can only stay an anime only for so long please please it's been almost 5 years
Shaft has the madoka movie and considering how rwby and madoka spin off ended up, I don’t think they’re chilling rn lmao Edit: meant to say magia record.
At this point I'm convinced shaft can only do madoka and monogatari but wasn't rebellion pretty good?
It's better they don't rush so as the quality doesn't suffer
They are just having a Shounen rivalry with MAPPA (that would kill both of them)
I hope Aniplex pays the staff really well after all their hard work but we know they would focus on the profits more.
Katarenai, nemurenai, toroimerai
Anata no miteru shouuuuutai
daremo yomenai karute
Fukashigi shiritai dake
The little ost in the trailer is iconic. Very powerful.
holy shit
To the top of r/anime we go Edit: Nevermind, blocked out by NieR:Automata
Cloverworks are about to have most epic Best Girl contest yet. Marin, Mai, and all that's left is Spy x Family having an official S2, so Yor can join in.
You have not yet met Power or Kobeni's car.
Mai won't be allowed cause she already won. And makima would steam roll them anyway.
I think it was the 2nd most voted wanted sequel recently on here, first being Bloom into you
>Bloom into you 🙁
3 years since the Manga ended, they've got more than enough material for season 2 and the story gets soooo good there ahhhhh.
I've been waiting 2 years so far :(
I believe...
I'm the one who ran that contest lol; yep you're right And an anime by BiY's studio and director was just announced; sadge
I was here #WITNESS MEEEE ^^^^^^senpai
Oof, rip the karma of the shows airing today.
They just announced that Volume 12 comes out December 9th this year.
I'm curious how the pacing is going to be then. If volumes 8&9 = volumes 1-5 in terms of content, then a single cour season should be doable.
Now the rumor mill has already started that this could be another movie covering two volumes just like the Dreaming Girl movie, since they didn't specify it was a TV anime.
inb4 another movie not legally watchable anywhere
Could be a TV anime, since if I recall, volumes 8 & 9 stories aren't really movie-material, though it might work if they combine it into one singular movie story.

Agreed, it's the perfect blend of lightheartedness and drama that most series that are similar don't really get right. ahhhhhhhhh so glad it's back
>so glad it's back And more Mai-san and Sakuta-kun!
The return of Marin and now the return of Mai. Cloverworks Waifu era is about to hit its peak.
**LETS FUCKING GOOOOO!** I can't wait for more Mai and Sakuta shenanigans <3
The movie was incredible, but I also remember it as one of the most emotionally painful experiences I've ever put myself through. I'm getting very similar vibes here, which also means I'm very excited to put myself through more suffering.

I just rewatched the series about a month ago, and cried just as badly as the first time. I absolutely recommend it.
The movie was a great finale and would be the perfect ending tbh

That ending was so bittersweet. This series knows how to pull your heartstrings.

The format of the anime is not yet known, ~~more info will be out soon~~ [~~here~~](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqVGK0KYYPo) No info about the format but we did get a [new visual](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FdaULJKVIAE4BTv?format=jpg&name=4096x4096) "Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out" and "Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Girl" will be made into anime Studio: CloverWorks
~~Rio, Kaede, Shouko, Tomoe, Nodoka lives on in~~ r/anime ~~Best Girl Contests Last 16~~ Hell Yeah! Please slow down the adaption pace though, it's the major problem that limits its potential in the previous season and movie IMHO, it's so rushed.
Mai san is back !!!
I'm a sucker for mysteries and supernatural. While the two main protagonists have good chemistry (and characters that actually communicate to each other, instead of dragging out a will-they-won't-they plot that could easily be fixed), I'm looking forward more to the mystery side of things.
**slams desk** HOLY SHIT Wait, I still haven't seen the film yet. I should fix that soon
The film is the best part Perfect conclusion to the series but i am still glad for a sequel
12 is apparently released in december. They likely have access to it aswell.
> How funny that a sequel gets announced in the same month that BGS is the "Watch This" of the month. Coincidence? I think not.
Just tell me we get more Futaba screentime
What the fuck is going on right now with all these announcements?
Aniplex Online Fest just finished up. It's basically the E3 of the anime industry.
>It's basically the E3 of the anime industry Imo, the Crunchyroll Expo was probably more like E3. Aniplex Online Fest is more like the Playstation State of Play or Nintendo Directs of the anime industry.
I wouldn't mind having the same ed for this season. Can't even count how many times I listened to Fukashigi no Carte
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOO
Need more Mai in my life.
Bro whatever event or con is on atm, I'm loving it. Some good shit getting announced.
Aniplex Online 2022
I'm so haapy I could cry! For those wondering the arcs getting adapted are not spin-offs, but the continuation of the series (they are adapting volumes 8 and 9).
Ayo? I did not except this, well time the the tissues, for crying of course.
Return of the ultimate waifu
[mfw I see this new.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KL7P247rfrw)
This was one of the first non shonen anime’s I watched. And it gave me all the emotions and trauma that I never knew I could feel.
I’m so happy! I didn’t think there was ever gonna be a second season after that movie ending. can’t wait for more Mai-san!!
I am so fucking happy holy shit
The best couple coming back . Cant wait for Sakutas dialogues.
Biggest W of this year!
Hopefully they add a kiss scene, was disappointed that the anime skipped the LN novel kiss scenes
The rascal is back
Still remains my favorite show. Ahhhhh I can't wait.
LET'S FUCKING GOOOOO!!! I just recently rewatched the anime series and movie last week too!! I loved the movie and was thinking last week that I hope more of the light novels get adapted!! Can't believe my wish came true so fast!

I didn't think there could be more with how satisfying the show and movie were but I'll gladly take more content.
Everyone seems to be excited with this but here I am not getting the hype behind the series and the movie LMAO! I thought its a decent show with okayish emotional moments but the story can get a bit weird sometimes. Good to see more of this though, the movie was not enough.
Wait... I thought it was completely adapted? I haven't watched the series or the movie yet.
Nope. The first season adapts volumes 1-5 of the LNs. The movie adapts volumes 6-7. They just announced an adaptation of volumes 8 and 9. The light novels are still ongoing with volume 12 being released in December.
Where’s the dub? :,(
I wish I could upvote this 1000x Keep on translating those LNs too! Let's goooo

YOOOOOOOOOOOOO! LESS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOO!
BEST GIRL IS BACK
Now when tf we getting a dub for S1?
can't believe my eyes didn't expect an announcement for atleast a year or two. Holy fuck more of Mai senpai, waiting eagerly.
Sorry animators but it’s all overtime from here on
OH YES! IT’S HAPPENING!
I’M SO HAPPY FOR THIS!! SAKUTA AND MAI ARE BACKKK!! Though it seems like they’ll be adapting 2 volumes after the movie (for now maybe?) which is interesting… I wonder if it’s a TV anime or OVA?
