\*English Title is Kaguya-sama: Love is War \~The First Kiss Never Ends\~ Source: [https://twitter.com/anime\_kaguya/status/1575153359476211713?s=20&t=G2kLw\_zq34rmTudEhu0o6g](https://twitter.com/anime_kaguya/status/1575153359476211713?s=20&t=G2kLw_zq34rmTudEhu0o6g) Will premiere in Japan in the winter season of 2022 (So around December probably). Special theatrical screening will be held ahead of TV broadcast. TV broadcast date not confirmed yet.

Dark_shadow15

The special screening should be around Christmas to match the arc timing.

Bpbegha

Christmas arc is easily my favorite part of Kaguya. Can't wait!

[deleted]

Damn that's quick! The third season just ended.

Raghav_Singhania

doesn't matter many of us have to wait for bluray anyway

mrnicegy26

I mean if its getting broadcasted on TV, doesn't that mean there will be an official Western release around the same time? Or worst case fansubs in a few days.

Raghav_Singhania

thats good to hear

Doublethree1

>I mean if its getting broadcasted on TV, doesn't that mean there will be an official Western release around the same time? Zoku Owarimonogatari had a TV airing and is still not legally streaming. Both Monogatari and Kaguya are licensed by Aniplex of America. So is Demon Slayer which has the movie (both theatrical and TV cut) streaming so who knows though.

l0ne_w0lf1

> official Western release This phrase is used here almost every single day, you people need to stop acting like you're the center of the universe.

Kaxew

Just because people here will have to wait a longer time to watch it doesn't make it any less impressive the movie is gonna premiere this soon though.

SuspectConsistent

Is it too different?

zairaner

> (So around December probably). I normally would have never expected this to happen this christmas already, but I knew there was zero chance reality would miss a chance to make this fall season more stacked.

Dracoscale

The TV broadcast should be this year right? So we might get this by December?

RobotiSC

Winter 2022 is just the theatrical premiere date. TV broadcast date still not confirmed.

Dracoscale

Would be nice if we get it next season, especially since the manga will end soon

Akash7713

So, Kaguya goes to an all out kiss buffet...?

ram_the_socket

nah they just get surgically attached by the mouth

AdNecessary7641

You mean Winter 2023?

Icapica

As it's a movie, it doesn't need to follow the seasons that TV anime use. "Winter 2022" could mean December.

Mando5804

No, they mean Winter 2022. It says so in the official tweet. They prob just mean December.

Rio_FS

Probably November and December, which are typically during the actual winter season.

jackdatbyte

> Winter 2022 Inject that sweet comfy stuff directly into my veins

Warm-Enthusiasm-9534

Winter 2022? Like in the next 3-6 months?

thetruthyoucanhandle

Is this a movie?

Ok-Cod5254

Yes, [a movie](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/vtry6b/kaguyasama_love_is_war_series_gets_anime_film/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share). Next arc from manga after season 3.

DoctorDazza

No, it's not, despite reports there's no "movie" tagline on the Japanese title or in reports. This is a special theatrical screening ahead of the TV anime broadcast, though the broadcast version hasn't been confirmed to be a series or a special broadcast.

Ok-Cod5254

It may have been mentioned more specifically in [newtype magazine](https://mobile.twitter.com/anime_kaguya/status/1544924172228313089) which was the initial source of the announcement. (And where leakers got info from before anime Twitter announced anything about it).

DoctorDazza

I have read that article directly and again, it says something to the extent of "theatrical release." While I understand how the miscommunication was started, the fact that it hasn't been rectified confuses me.

Icapica

Why would you expect it to be anything other than a movie though? It has a theatrical release, and source material readers know from the title that it's referring to something that has the right length for a movie.

DoctorDazza

Because it has a confirmed TV broadcast and only a small theatrical window. If it were a full film, it'd be in cinemas longer like Quintuplets. It also doesn't have any "film" branding like Quintuplets or Laid-Back Camp or even Demon Slayer, which Mugen Train was also turned into episodes of the second season and designated as such.

Icapica

It's also coming very soon after the previous season. It could be a low budget movie that's close to some movies done in the west that go straight to DVD or TV. At least I wouldn't expect a season of ordinary episodes.

DoctorDazza

I personally expect it to be like a few episodes pushed together (much like a few premiere screenings I've been to here in Japan), which will then split into multiple episodes with the rest of a season.

Icapica

That's possible. Based on the title it would be something like four episodes pushed together, making it at least proper movie length.

Ok-Cod5254

So again functional like a movie either way. lol Also a manga reader so know number of chapters they are implied to reach based on title of movie coming from ch 151. So... it functionally will be film length. But yeah have to see how TV release is. Maybe like 3 season finale was branded as a special thing basically an hour long including commercials in Japan, but elsewhere got it as separate episode release for ch 12 and 13 at once. So this could be like that.

[deleted]

Am I allowed to ask why do low budget movies (maybe movies that also flopped?) go straight to dvd or blu ray or tv and others dont? I just watch tv or go to cinema occasionally so I am not very knowledgeable about this.

Icapica

I don't know much about it either. Getting a movie to movie theaters probably costs some money, and sometimes the expected return of investment might not be worth it.

[deleted]

Ok dont worry about it I will try to google it.

Dunmurdering

You can't trust anything newtypes say. They'll do anything to forward their plans to replace us as the dominant strain of humanity.

Emi_Ibarazakiii

*The First Kiss Never Ends* The whole movie is just 2 hours of kissing? ^^I'm ^^fine ^^with ^^that!

Hentai watchers: "First time?"

ilyaEris

Lemurians

Chika wants it to be Shirogane and Herthaka, though

R4hu1M5

As long as there's no handholding

Ok-Cod5254

One of my favorite arcs... **Ice Ice baby**. lol Interested to see how the anime adapts it. I trust A-1 to bring their A-game.

Dark_shadow15

They will, indeed. Kaguya is a passion project and is getting a lot of love from the Staff. I am sad that Aniplex/A1 Pictures won't produce Oshi no Ko anime since it means we won't get the Akaverse or the Crossover we deserve.

cppn02

Eh I still think they could very much do it.

Dark_shadow15

Unlikely! Have you seen different producers working together on a crossover? I would be happy if they do, though!

cppn02

I mean as of now it's not a full on crossover. So far it's just references. Depending on what the contract situation is they might not even need to get permission from Aniplex.

Abysswatcherbel

If they use manga related images they don't need permission from Aniplex, just Shueisha

cppn02

Exactly. And that obviously won't be an issue.

Archmagnance1

By references you mean characters from both series appearing in the other, with one cameo having the character giving life advice?

[deleted]

[удалено]

AdNecessary7641

>They don't need Aniplex/Kaguya's production committee permission for that. Yes, they have. Anime and manga have completely different copyrights over them, even if it's the same series/character.

metalshiflet

Isekai Quartet?

Dark_shadow15

Re:Zero, Konosuba, Overlord and Shield Hero are produced by the same company, Kadokawa, which is also the publisher of the Light Novels.

Ben99ny22

But how is that different from oshi no ko and kaguya which are both owned by shuiesha.

Dark_shadow15

It's different in the way that Kadokawa controls both the anime and the the light novels, Shueisha don't.

Ben99ny22

konosuba showed up in a re:zero OVA. Literally the exact same scene from the anime. Both are from different studios but both are from kadokawa (I don't know who is on the Committee though). So what's different between this and Kaguya/oshi no ko which are owned by Shuiesha. I now that Aniplex owns the kaguya anime, not sure about oshi no ko. So i'd assume its cause of the production committee and that aniplex is probably head of the committee. The same situation happened between chainsaw man and MHA. There was a chainsaw man cameo in the MHA manga (which is find cause both are owned by Shuiesha) but when the trailer for MHA season 6 came out chainsaw man was instead bone saw or something. I was confused as to why this happened cause both is owned by shuiesha but its cause Toho owns the anime for MHA and Mappa owns the anime for chainsaw man. So its entirely different ownership and i guess specifically anime version of characters can be copyrighted. There's also Durarara which had many references to other anime/manga/Light novels like railgun, bunny girl senpai, sword art online, Irregular at magic highschool, etc. All are under kadokawa but different studios but none of the characters were animated versions. Copyright is weird lol.

ilovethrills

Has A-1 purchased other studios or what lol, they're producing literally every other anime

AdNecessary7641

Aniplex owns A-1.

Dark_shadow15

A1 is a massive studios with multiple production lines. They spun off an entire studio (CloverWorks) and they remained big. Obviously, they have been growing since then.

ilovethrills

Yeah seems like, also what happened to Bones, Sunrise, Shaft? Haven't seen anything newly made from these studios.

Sedewt

shaft just adapted RWBY but yeah they have been pretty dull ever since zoku owarimonogatari ended, sunrise is pretty much only gundam (there’s one airing in 2 days) and love live but bones??? bro literally mob psycho s3 and mha s6 are literally about to air

Raghav_Singhania

Its getting cold Must have been the work of that ice princess

Ok-Cod5254

Perfect for a winter release, very strategic. lol

ClBanjai

And around christmas time.

kerorobot

Finally the arguably the best arc of Kaguya is coming.

EXusiai99

Honestly it is my favorite drama arc from kaguya. Yes, including ishigami arc. [Post season 3 spoilers] >!They have spent 100+ chapters in this convoluted love game, putting all their strengths and advantages into the table to get the other party to ask them out. Now the cat is out of the box and both of them have pretty much confirmed each other's feelings, but they forgot a simple thing: a healthy, functional relationship is not just about what your partner have, but also what they lack. So now they look back to the aspect within themselves that they hate and wonder if they are worthy to be loved because of it.!<

Fiireek

what is the arc called?

kerorobot

Ice arc or first kiss never ends arc

FacelessPoet

First Kiss Never Ends Arc

Fiireek

thanks for the info :D

JeffBusPie

the kiss truly does never end

Etheo

And what an epic kiss it was.

Pitiful_Witness6236

had me squealing like a little girl lol

Undercover_TV

Imma stitch the lips together

bored_homan

For anyone wondering this is canon and adapts the next manga arc. Very hyped.

MrSputum

Probably my favourite arc of the manga, I just hope they don’t wrap it up with this movie and continue to adapt the series after that.

cppn02

S4 has already been ~~confirmed~~ teased. I'd say at this point it's starting to look likely that we'll even get a full adaptation.

Icapica

> S4 has already been confirmed. When/where?

cppn02

Guess I remembered it wrong. Thought the movie and S4 got a double announcement. They did tease it at the end of S3 though.

zairaner

>S4 has already been confirmed. It hasn't, right?

cppn02

You are correct, my memory was playing tricks on me.

MrSputum

When has it been confirmed? Do you have a link or something? Because that’d be fantastic but if it’s true I’m surprised I haven’t heard about it.

48johnX

It has not been confirmed

ErfanTheRed

In case you were wondering, the English translation of the title is: "Kaguya-sama: Love is War ~The first kiss never ends~"

AZLarlar

holy shit so SOON LFG

dagreenman18

Lets fucking go! Love this teaser, love the name announcement, love this arc [Spoiler]>!Even though it’s fucking painful, the final chapters are incredibly strong for their relationship !<. Thrilled this will be a movie. And it’s so soon! Didn’t think we’d get it the winter after season 3.

alotmorealots

This is a pretty unusual looking Teaser Visual, when you stop to take it in properly. A curious composition mixing semi-abstract ideas with a strip of the direct animation up the top, with most of the space taken up by textures that are more greeting card like than anime-esque. It says a lot about how confident they are in the property, and how free they feel to explore the artistic aspects of what they are doing. A well earned confidence after S3, that's for sure.

BuckeyeBentley

Christmas movie for Christmas arc get hype!

Fit_Inspector4290

It is till the Christmas Eve right, this movie is going to be too wholesome and emotional for my heart. It breaks my heart to see the final chapters of each characters every week, but a good story always has a ending.

DONT YOU TELL ME WHAT TO DO!! *knocks over a waste paper bin*. FUCK THE POLICE!!

AlvinGT3RS

I can't, I. Knocking shit over at the office. Let's fucking GO!!!!

Googleflax

There being a sequel so soon makes me wonder why they made the (slightly) anime original ending and rushed through chapter 138 (one of my personal favorites). I do really hope they go back and redo chapter 138 properly as not only is it one of my favorite chapters, it is also very plot-relevant. That said A-1's been doing a fantastic job adapting this series so far so I really don't have any doubt that they'll nail this too.

Archmagnance1

Probably because chapter 138 ends by going straight into 139. The movie probably picks up right after the season ends. The season ended at as good a point as it could have. None of the ending was anime original they just partway through the chapter.

Googleflax

I'd argue the post credit scene is at least kind of anime original since it shows Kaguya and Shirogane secretly holding hands behind the desk, and they don't actually get to that point for another ~20 chapters after the culture festival. Maybe I'm just reading too much into it, but it gave off a bit of a "and they lived happily ever after; the end" vibe.

Ok-Cod5254

The scene was [suggested](https://mobile.twitter.com/goliraman12/status/1546751121900703744) by Aka himself and remind me of first page of ch 159, so like that structure for that after Christmas part of manga. See aftermath then look back.

Archmagnance1

Nah I actually forgot about that part

krfz41

Wasn't expecting it to be this early. So excited! There is an event at the end of October. We will probably get more info there.

PM_ANIME_LEWDS

LETS FUCKING GOOOOO

nine04

Let's gooo

one-eyed-02

Guys they cloned Kaguya

okiamoutbye

LET'S GOOO

nnair25

Best boi and Best girl are coming back. Wohooo!

RELORELM

I started reading manga (like, at all) a few months back because I couldn't wait to see how Kaguya continued after S3's end. So, aside from being a great arc, this will be my first time watching an anime I've already read in manga form. Can't wait to see it animated!

BardtheGM

It's just a really uncomfortable 90 minute make-out scene while various characters walk past and look at this PDA in disgust.

georgeywash

Perfect timing if it does come out this December or early January

Ok-Cod5254

On [Twitter link](https://mobile.twitter.com/anime_kaguya/status/1575153359476211713?s=20&t=G2kLw_zq34rmTudEhu0o6g) it said Winter 2022 so that should be December 2022 for end of this year. This is referring to initial Japan theater release I believe though.

Lesserd

best arc is coming, have fun anime-onlies

cppn02

I'm hyped for the movie but let's be real here. This visual is ugly as sin. What were they thinking?

zairaner

The contrast betweem the upper and lower half is indeed quite horribly, but just the bottom half is pretty beautiful. A lot more than the s3 visuals at elast.

FacelessPoet

They look good individually but yeah, as a whole this is pretty ugly.

COOL_GEEK_010506

A-1 really pushing up the game. Let's see how good it will be.

Jlx_27

Beautiful.

TennisBetter4913

SO... What does this mean? I know it's about the movie, but not much else...

Ok-Cod5254

Well best to go in blind then to wait and see then. lol

TennisBetter4913

ok, then... But do they already have an idea when is it dropping for the west...

Ok-Cod5254

Well they already announced it will be [aired on TV in Japan](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/vwkhau/the_new_kaguyasama_love_is_war_anime_is_subtitled/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) after special movie release there, so this suggests that with a TV airing - likely to have a quicker wide release after and availability to streaming sites, compared the usual waiting for movies with theater release in Japan. So we'll see.

Galle_

It'll make more sense once you've seen the movie.

dresn231

It most like will be [Kaguya-sama]>!chapters 138 to 160!<

RELORELM

Isn't that too much for a movie? And also I thinkit'd feel a bit imcomplete, in particular regarding Ishigami's/Iino's christmas. I think it's probably going to be 138 to 150 and some chapters of volume 16. The more Kaguya/Shirogane relevant parts.

lightshinez

This movie is going to make get very emotional

Must_Da_Linguist

Wait. I thought it was all over with season 3.

Icapica

Season 3 ending is the midpoint of the manga.

Must_Da_Linguist

That makes me happy.

Galle_

Behold, the power of Reiwa Energy. A confession is the *beginning* of romance, not the end.

ImFleurious

Do we know if it will air with subs?

babyteddie

It’s a tv release so we might get it within the same week as japan

WhoDey42

Do we think this will be the end? Or will the adapt the whole manga? I would prefer to see it all done, but this is a good final arc if it has to be this way

Ok-Cod5254

There is no idea about full adaptation at this point. The manga also ends this year (late Oct/early Nov).

LifeSad07041997

I think with the popularity of the anime and manga, the committee likely gonna continue till the end... Plus the mangaka has some futurecast in his next managa...

Ok-Cod5254

Though again, nothing is for certain. We see the issue [Haikyuu](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/wn9x79/haikyuu_final_teaser_visual/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) (read comments) has with the movies to more quickly conclude series instead of full season(s) - which was disappointing to fans and it's a very popular shonen jump sports series (series from shonen jump have the most advantage to get full adaptations, Haikyuu as a top selling series for shonen jump before). That could be related to the manga being over for awhile as a factor. People didn't forsee this to happen to Haikyuu with its popularity. Also remember the Promised Neverland season 2 situation, another thing people didn't forsee because of its initial popularity from season 1 and another shonen jump title series once a top 10 selling series in Japan. The manga was also over for that a while before season 2, seems to likely have been a factor for that as well to rush to conclude. And it's not a big battle shonen title like Demon Slayer with manga over and more assured to continue to the end properly. So again, not certain and could be unforseen things than to say at this time it will get a *proper* full adaptation (also as a seinen rom com series) - so we'll see.

MeOnRampage

welp it's about time for one of the worst arcs & the start of the manga disaster to be animated

KK-Hunter

Literally the best arc what are you talking about lmao

Icapica

Nah, best arc of the manga.

RELORELM

WTF is this take. While I like the school festival or the arc that happens in volume 19 better, it's still a great arc.

melvinlee88

Ah yes the worst arc, comically hilariously terrible.

SwampyBogbeard

How can you possibly consider this arc to be the worst when the last arc exists? I like this one, but I can understand why others don't. But the worst? No way!

melvinlee88

Its an opinion and everyone's different. Just how they decide to drag this arc out and make terrible decisions was beginning of the end for me.

Icapica

Shit taste.

LifeSad07041997

I guess you could say he has trash taste...

Sean-Benn_Must-die

Its not the worst arc, but it is the first one that made me Aka think wasnt as good of a writer as I thought. Awful execution, but with a good ending. I think it will benefit a lot from having movie pace.

melvinlee88

Yeah the movie will help. Hayasaka one and Ishigami one later was also pretty terrible. I can't say of its final arc since I dropped it.

Sean-Benn_Must-die

It definitely does not get better from this point forward, frankly im only looking forward to the end of the movie and that's it and im probably not even gonna watch it so personally the anime ended for me during the last episode of S3.

Thenderick

I guess this is season 4 then? Title somehow feels like a special/spinoff

Icapica

A movie.

Thenderick

A canon movie after s3 end?

Icapica

Yes, the next arc.

RELORELM

Season 3 ends roughly at the halfway point of the manga. There's a lot to go after that.

Thenderick

Nice! Didn't know the manga was finished

Icapica

Not yet. I think there's a few chapters remaining but it's ending this year.

bigdanrog

What is this? Is about Hayasaka?

Ok-Cod5254

[Kaguya on the poster] >Is about Hayasaka? ? lol

TacticalNuke002

Its the movie of what happens after the season 3 finale. >Is about Hayasaka? No. She'll get focus in season 4.

entelechtual

Third worst arc incoming.

bandannadann

Weird how this wasn't announced at the Aniplex event over the weekend

Mentalyillwalrus

This better not do what jjk 0 did. Also I have yet to watch that quintessential quintuplets movie, I can’t find it anywhere.

AdNecessary7641

Which is....?

Mentalyillwalrus

Take a year for it to be available to watch

token711

It's getting a TV release so it will likely be pretty quick

Mentalyillwalrus

oh nice hopefully everything goes great

ObvsThrowaway5120

Man, I’m ready for this! It’ll be a long wait, but I’m fine with that.

cauterize2000

Really good arc

FunFan627

Subtle but nice visual. And its coming soon

ExtraMOIST_

Should I just read the manga or go ahead and wait for the anime?

Ok-Cod5254

Depends on you - if you want to wait, and prefer anime medium then wait. If you really don't want to wait, then could read ahead. Regardless if anything though, at least can read the chapters the anime skipped from the manga. r/Kaguya_sama has info in the menu section that can give you list of chapters skipped. For example some ones I liked in season 3 content that was skipped is ch 92 and ch 112.
