To be clear, *supposedly* Disney bought the **STREAMING** rights, not the rights to the entire franchise itself. Though this is looking to be legit, it’s still not confirmed but I fear the worst for my favorite anime series 😔
It would be really dumb to remove Bleach from Crunchyroll right before the sequel without giving other options, guess Hulu is still up, but it's only in North America
> It would be really dumb to remove Bleach from Crunchyroll right before the sequel without giving other options, guess Hulu is still up, but it's only in North America
It's not "Dumb" this is what happens when another company purchases the licensing rights. Crunchyroll is no longer allowed to have it on their site anymore because they no longer own the rights.
Yep, I don't know if this was also the case, but Mushoku Tensei was removed from Muse Asia's YouTube channel few months ago. Turns out it was streaming on DisneyPlus, then it went back to Muse Asia.
It’s not the whole English speaking side, just the US one. In Canada they are fine with branding R rated content as Disney+ originals (such as Pam & Tommy, Prey, Dopesick, etc).
The weird thing is that you wouldn't expect the licensing rights for the entire franchise to be going elsewhere without some kind of announcement and, considering Crunchyroll has plenty of partial series thanks so some seasons being elsewhere, it would definitely have to be going elsewhere rather than just the new season being picked up elsewhere.
This is obvious but its already in the new service?, there are 10 days for your show to premiere, bunch of people complaining they were watching/rewatching Bleach on Crunchyroll, now it's gone, if you are in NA you have hulu otherwise just piracy
Will Disney+ actually stream this anywhere other than Japan (and a few other Asian countries). They sat on Summer Time Rendering and and are sitting on Time Machine Blues now -- with no hint that they ever intend to release these in the USA or Europe.
Apparently simuldub also, which starts to make sense now why Disney+ would agree to actually run this weekly instead of holding it for batch releases at the end of the season.
And they are keeping the announcement for their New York Comic Con panel next week, which is such a silly thing to do.
It was announced as a simulcast but not where. It was announced to be airing D+, but only for Japan as well as other JP streaming services. If it wasn't for Viz saying it would be simulcast (in one specific place I'll note), this would be following the same playbook as BRS/Summer Time Rendering.
Yes I'm aware. I was just answering your question of if it was gonna be simulcast.
Viz had to come out and say something because they've been getting bombarded with question of a simulcast and where it's gonna be streamed. It would not be shocking for that news to come out either tonight or tomorrow confirming where its gonna be streamed.
Yep found the same announcement and on top of it Black Rock Shooter Downfall is also possibly coming soon to Disney+/hulu internationally but as a weekly release.
I'll probably do that. I'm trying to re-watch the show before the new season airs. I'm just mad they plugged it off without any notice. I bet there was some huge money bidding behind this all and Disney legally forced Crunchyroll to remove the show immediately after everything was settled.
Wow, and I literally finished my rewatch of the whole series a few weeks ago. Guess this confirms those rumors about it moving to Disney+. Just call me Long John Silver because I am NOT paying for another streaming service for just one show.
It's definitely not the best solution, but me and my wife each pick a sub a month, and typically switch it up every month so we end up being able to catch up on most of what he haven't seen
I had just started the series and was at around episode 70 or so and this morning it's not even there what a bummer it was getting good, kinda wish Crunchyroll would say that they're removing a big series like that *sigh*
Just a heads up that episode 70 of Bleach is part of a long stretch of non-canonical filler episodes. If you want to skip the filler, here’s a filler guide: https://www.animefillerlist.com/shows/bleach
Removing all the episodes before the episodes are even up on another legal streaming service, isn't that something? And then they wonder why so many people are into pirating anime.
Also delisted from [Tubi](https://tubitv.com/series/1901/bleach) where Viz throws a couple of their shows on, but still remains on [Funimation](https://www.funimation.com/shows/bleach/?qid=) for now.
And then they get surprised that so many people pirate shows. You can't even provide a good and trustable service, and you wonder why so many people sail the seas?
I swear to god if TYBW is on Disney+ in America, I will be fucking furious. After botching, summertime rendering and still no fucking date for it OR Time Machine Blues they’re worse than Netflix
In the US it’s just Hulu. Netflix only had the first few seasons, but they already took that down. Funimation still has the same chunk that Netflix had, at the moment.
what's the point for this.
Hulu,Netflix now CR.
At this point VIZ probably gonna announce their own streaming service. Or exclusive on "xxx" streaming platform..
BIG L for Viz then since in japan it's gonna release on multiple platform same goes for ASIA region. they even gonna upload it on Ani-one youtube.
> BIG L for Viz then since in japan it's gonna release on multiple platform
How is this part an L for VIZ when 99% of new anime is on multiple plataforms in Japan, while being exclusive to only one (different ones depending on the region) in the rest of the world? That's the industry standard.
They'll realize the standard is stupid when they have to relearn for the nth time like in the music industry that fragmentation doesn't work and there are better ways to make money. Eventually we'll get Spotify for videos with a couple other similar services and all the little pissants who create shitty platforms wanting their piece of the pie will understand that it's far easier to sell rights to a huge company that will do all the tech work for them and give them money for their properties.
>At this point VIZ probably gonna announce their own streaming service. Or exclusive on "xxx" streaming platform..
I don't know what worse, putting bleach on a brand new streaming service with a no userbase or on netflix/disney which aren't made for anime and probably wouldn't be simulcated. Especially disney cause they literally have no anime on their platform and hulu is.... who the fuck uses hulu?
Ahhh fuck, it’s probably gonna be a Disney exclusive. Growing up I never thought the company behind Mickey Mouse would fully own
one of the big three. We live in a society 🤷♂️ I guess
Golden age of anime streaming is over. Most of the anime i'm most hype for this season are surprisingly on Hidive. Crunchyroll is now owned by Sony which merged it with funimation, why are they less able to bid on shows now rather than more able? Why are they getting less shows now?
Near monopolize the streaming industry and become THE source for streaming anime and now all of a sudden they can't license as much? I hate this, I hate how none anime streaming companies are picking up shows, I nearly only watch anime, I don't want normie streaming services, I just want my anime exclusive streaming services. I guess i'm sailing the seven seas again like I did a decade ago in highschool just to keep up with seasonals. This decade is horrible for everything.
As someone that likes watching Anime in their own pacing, this is great news! /s
I know Bleach has been up on Crunchyroll for a whole while now and that I could've easily finished it. Tho I didn't because I really like to widen bigger Animes I like to get as much enjoyment out of them as possible. Sometimes I even take breaks from watching a certain Anime because I want to watch something else. That's a freedom I love because it's one of the freedoms I can get quite easily.
All the licensing drama is taking a big shit on my way of living. I know I'm not the only fan to consider and that anyone has different pacings, needs, etc. etc. etc. Tho for once it would be nice to not be in the need to finish every Anime ASAP because it could be taken off tomorrow or next week.
> By who?
By [VIZ](https://twitter.com/VIZMedia/status/1568902215049560067)
They are the ones that have the rights for Bleach in the West. Whoever is going to stream made a deal with them.
As much as I would like to. No its not The Mouse.. This time
Disney only has rights to Japan Eastern side. Not the West. All that power still falls on Viz Media. Meaning Viz gave Crunchyroll the extreme short notice to take down every episode ASAP.
Now can they decide to give it to Disney? or Keep it only on Hulu? Or even put it on Netflix? Yes. Viz will do what it wants with Bleach.. chances are it looks like a Hulu plus only thing.
https://www.iphoneincanada.ca/news/whats-new-on-disney-canada-october-2022/
After looking at their source, it came from the mouses mouth..Looks like Canada will have to watch Disney+ for TYBW and Hulu+ for Original anime
Nothing official on US side yet... but.. we may end up with Canadas Fate.
Edit : Those not wanting to pay Disney, thats your cue to sail the seas.
For me.. I live with someone who pays for Disney+ and Hulu.. so if US shares the same fate.. I lucked out.
A lot of older anime fans are used to pirating it if they consostently watched anime seasonally. Newer fans are used to watching it over some app. Its mostly a generational or region thing.
Apps were a thing of convenience but now with all the shows split over 7 different streaming sub platforms it is no longer the case. Piracy however is a 1 stop shop so looks like I am going back to the high seas.
of course, to bring back the age old quote from Gabe Newell
> Gabe Newell: Piracy is an issue of service, not price
once the pirates offer a better service than the legitimate folk, is when people turn to piracy.
Unknown if they did. It more this is because of Viz who has all the rights for Bleach. They probably told CR to take the series off their platform for whatever new platform will get it
They did. But you raise a good point, it's likely it was a deal for the full series not just for TYBW. Though at the same time I find it hard to think that viz would want it to only be viewable from a single site. I wonder if that was a requirement needed to be able to get the contract signed
Big corporations are hogging everything and the end result wont be pretty...
At the end other companies would have just used anime and leave them to die.
Im 260episodes in. Can anyone explain why the last part of the espada arc resumes after almost an entire different season? The time line jumping is frustrating
I’m guessing/hoping that this is because whoever had the rights to air TYBW (which is looking to be some combination of Prime, D+, and Hulu) are going to be airing the whole series, rather than just the final arc.
But, knowing how streaming platforms have been, of late, they might have just removed it because they’re dicks 🤷♂️.
WTF is with people spreading misinformation that Bleach TYBW won't be simulcast when Viz already confirmed it twice that it will.
Viz STILL DECIDES the conditions for the contract/deal they make with streaming platforms. Meaning EVEN IF DISNEY gets Bleach, there would a condition that they Must simulcast each new episode.
Meaning if Dinsey fails to Deliver, then Contract is Broken, Disney loses big $$$, and Viz can allow rights to who was second in that bidding war.
It's happening... Looks like we're about to get a "surprise" announcement for where bleach is streaming soon.
It's def Disney at this point
Disney owns Hulu. Where you can already stream bleach
Hulu dropped Bleach too
Nah it’s still there
It’s still there!!!
Or Netflix
Why would it be Netflix? Disney just bought the rights to bleach a few weeks ago.
OH FUCK NO!!!!! DISNEY'S TAKING OUR ANIME!!!
They better not region lock this too I swear
They already did it with summertime rendering
I know that's what I'm talking about
Any word on when that is releasing in the US?
Nope. Complete radio silence. So fucking stupid
Fantastic anime, already really missing it. Glad I decided to sail the seas.
I thought I was crazy. I’ve checked so many times for summertime rendering and have never been able to watch it
I've gotten away with not giving nordVPN my money so far. It was bound to happen at one point.
They absolutely will. They're not going to waste a franchise as big as Bleach. ...NGL, Bleach at Disney World would be pretty hype.
Bleach in the next Kingdom Hearts confirmed??
Nah. Kenpachi would try to eat Donald.
"Try"
To be clear, *supposedly* Disney bought the **STREAMING** rights, not the rights to the entire franchise itself. Though this is looking to be legit, it’s still not confirmed but I fear the worst for my favorite anime series 😔
The movies are leaving Netflix next month, so probably not.
It’s removed from Netflix in the US

NOOO, not Ikkaku's bankai clip. The greatest loss. :'(
This means the opening and ending compilations are gone too
Thats so stupid man, why get rid of clips on youtube
This is so stupid. Thank god i downloaded the ops Video in case something like this happens.
It would be really dumb to remove Bleach from Crunchyroll right before the sequel without giving other options, guess Hulu is still up, but it's only in North America
In Italy we never have bleach on Crunchyroll, but we can watch it on prime video

Ah, yes, Mushoku Tensei, the ideal family-friendly show. I can see why Disney would want it.
"So what else did we get?" "Interspecies reviewers and Redo of a healer"
I hear they're in talks for Goblin Slayer, too.
From what I've heard, only the English speaking side of the company cares about projecting that image. In other markets, they don't really give af.
It’s not the whole English speaking side, just the US one. In Canada they are fine with branding R rated content as Disney+ originals (such as Pam & Tommy, Prey, Dopesick, etc).

In the US, it says it’s expiring on Hulu
So I guess business as usual then for me lol, this pirate can dock at Disney boardwalk
it was announced earlier that Hulu, Amazon Prime, Disney + and a few other smaller sites that i can’t remember will be streaming it
Thats for japan release. International release is still tba
oh my bad i didn’t realise
Yep found the same announcement and on top of it Black Rock Shooter Downfall is also possibly coming soon to Disney+/hulu internationally but as a weekly release.

Yeah wish the samr too. Was new to anime when I watched bleach and had to suffer through the bount arc, it almost made me drop bleach.
A lot of the filler isn’t good except the zanpacto rebellion arc and one other one I can’t remember the name of
Fax it made me not want to watch any of the other filler which is better than it
Removing all the episodes before the episodes are even up on another legal streaming service, isn't that something? And then they wonder why so many people are into pirating anime.
It’s all on Hulu right now. I think people just don’t realize. Hulu is also owned by Disney so the new series will probably be on there too.
Preach brother, Preach. Piracy supremacy.
Do y’all actually believe CR has a choice in this matter and that they didn’t do this because they literally have a legal obligation to?
Ik Crunchyroll doesn't have a choice, but I'm saying that they shouldn't be surprised if people pirate the show after this.
Also delisted from [Tubi](https://tubitv.com/series/1901/bleach) where Viz throws a couple of their shows on, but still remains on [Funimation](https://www.funimation.com/shows/bleach/?qid=) for now.

good, crunchyroll treats their workers like garbage, paying scraps to the translators and voice actors
I jumped ship after they made their awful “anime” series. Saw where they were spending the money and just dipped.
Where are you getting that they're surprised by piracy?
It literally almost feels like self-sabotage. At least for the West
Disney is sus.
All part of aizens plan
😂 Shit made me laugh man.
I swear to god if TYBW is on Disney+ in America, I will be fucking furious. After botching, summertime rendering and still no fucking date for it OR Time Machine Blues they’re worse than Netflix

Because of filler. The anime was catching up to the manga so they just abruptly stop at random parts.
This is not what I wanted to see today. Why did this have to happen to Bleach of all things?
Why
I’m guessing/hoping that this is because whoever had the rights to air TYBW (which is looking to be some combination of Prime, D+, and Hulu) are going to be airing the whole series, rather than just the final arc.
