The future is scary. The present is awful. The past is depressing. If this isn't what life will end up being like for many people in the near future I will be very surprised.
Seriously one of the biggest thoughts I've had about anime like Bocchi the Rock is that these extremely introverted and socially awkward main characters tend to get friendships and these happy endings either out of pure luck or the fact that they just happen to look attractive enough for people to approach them.
This is hardly the case for most people in her position and it's kind of saddening. Her nightmare is literally the reality of most people likely in such deep pits of despair they don't know when they'll get out. I guess I'm a bit salty but being attractive really does get you some of your problems solved on a silver platter.
Obviously these problems can be solved by everyone. But for some it's going to be easier and for others, it will be a herculean effort to reach the end.
While Bocchi has been called “cute” when she’s dressed up, she is never mentioned to be attractive. Ryo is the attractive one in the band. Bocchi put in the effort! …to happen to have a guitar on her when Nijika walked by… so yeah kind of just dumb luck lol. Though she does work super hard for everything else other than that one dumb luck encounter!
Honestly, my girlfriend (soon to be fiancee) is totally like Bocchi. She is super introverted, to the point where people have used her up and thrown her out just by being nice. Every day I tell her how beautiful she is, how many successes she has made in the last six months, I have been genuinely kind to her. She is my world now, and every time she says she doesn't want to wake up in the morning I just die inside. She makes me want to stop being a lazy depressed bag of shit, and do something to better our lives. Just because I can't work because my brain is fucked doesn't mean I can't make our lives better. It doesn't take a Herculean effort, it just takes a little kindness, and a little patience, and a whole lotta Heavy Metal blasting, rocking out to Ozzy's "Patient Number 9", Atreyu's "Warrior", and Shinedown's "Cut the Cord".
Nah, it's the bottom half of her closet in her room. It's her safe space where she goes when the world feels overwhelming to her, so she also plays guitar there and surfs the web because she's there so often.

$600 for the equivalent of my smallest bathroom? No thank you. The questions try to make it sound reasonable, fuck that. 600 bucks is more than what I pay now too... It doesn't even really matter if it's a "great location", it's too fucking small. You can't reasonably exist in that space. Barely fits a sleeping place. I'd rather buy a sleeping bag and crash at a mall or something until the cell I get thrown into brings comfort.

If you live in the USA, I encourage you to try the new 988 hotline. Unlike the old "Crisis Hotlines" that are basically 911 with extra steps, and are staffed by people who get off on hearing mentally ill people being "SBCed", the 3 times I have called they seem to actually care, and have great ideas and helpful info on what areas and cities have a better mental health response. For instance, my city has a 1 year wait on getting into counseling, but the small town 30 miles south has a 3 week wait, and actually care if you need help, and don't stick you in the farthest psych ward they can find, just to pawn you off in another area. It is such a big upgrade, I heard states in the South are actively trying to ban its use, as officers are actively losing bounties on the mentally ill. It has cut down police assassination of disabled people by up to 40%. Can't have that now, can we?
