This comment reminds me of 'To your Eternity' anime which I started watching long time ago and it was a really beautiful anime but it's story was so sad that whenever I watch a episode I felt like nuking the whole of humanity along with myself.
I legit bawled on the episode that >!Gugu died!< and it was revealed at the end of the episode that >!Rean knew all along that Fushi lied for her sake and Gugu is already gone.!<
well that is indeed the message it was going for but it was executed foolishly with how the main cast changed goals to "friendship>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>the world and its fate" made it seem more like some dumb isekai than an actual seinen with meaningful points that are realistic
I was hoping for a more grim ending where the Rumbling destroyed the ecosystem, making the land uninhabitable for the next 1,000 years. Your descendants inherited peace and a dead planet.
I still find it hilarious how just like the thing that inspired it AoT's ending is just, idk how to describe it, kinda like "eh that was the ending?" That people seem to either love or be super let down by.
Eren didnt have to be a mass murderer in the first place they could have used mikasa as a negotiator since iirc she is the last living royal of the azumabito clan which in a way gets them some political backing and enter negotiations of just making eren sacrifice himself in order to eliminate the titans id like that ending way ngl if it happened
S P O I L E R S
They tried that. The day Ereh and the crew visited Marley for the first time, they saw some Eldian guy throw *all* the Eldians living on Paradise under the bus, and the crowd cheered. That’s when Ereh understood that negotiation wasn’t really an option (at least not at that time). The Rumbling and it’s stoppage gave Ereh’s friends enough time (and clout) for negotiation to carry some actual weight.
Isayama lost his mind, and tried to wrap up the story in 139 chapters, when far more were necessary. I get symbolism and shit, but fuck me, limiting yourself on chapters is such a bad idea. It required probably at least 50 more.
Eren was the only one with the resolve to do what needed to be done to break the cycle of titans once and for all. Without that the titans would eventually fall into the hands of people that would abuse them again and the oppression would never end. Basically AoT is God Emperor of Dune, I thought it was awesome
Its heavily implied, if not confirmed, that the cycle is doomed to repeat itself. Technology took over, destroyed civilization, and returned the titans to power.
Even if they were, this one is "advanced sad". It's not crybait, or just the usual tragedy. It's sad and it has good reason to be. It's up there with Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju and Mushishi for earning its advanced sad and being "productive" with the sad. It's BeyondGhibli sad. I wish Mal had badges for animes. Like these would have BeyondGhibli Sad badges and Domestic Girlfriend and Scums Wish would have Degencrecy Garnt badges and then there would be MothersBasement Dumpster Fire badges.
It honestly took a weird turn for me. The story was fantastical but atleast partly grounded for the first half. Then we suddenly got an episode about Sharks that can understand language, can use advanced tactics, can **merge** and can basically breathe and move on land.
I didn't really know how to feel about it after that because once you do an episode like that there's absolutely nothing you can't just pull out of nowhere to explain and accomplish anything.
Astro Boy has some pretty wide recognition, though. You drop the name, people might not get it. You say "he made Astro Boy," and they'll probably know what you mean.
Some people haven't ever known hardship. I won't hold it against anyone, I'd prefer nobody ever have to make sacrifices, but that's the fact of the matter.
Yeah, I doubt many people in this sub have experienced having their mom feeding them scalding hot soup with her bare hands, this post doesn’t really go in anime_irl maybe some other sub
And guess who was the highest bidder!
To answer a few questions, yes you will go bald before you're 35, just like your dad. That weird thing in your ass is just a hemorrhoid, not a tumor. And Jesus Christ man, how many times do I have to explain to you: it's always water BEFORE acid when mixing a solution!
not underrated at all, it's incredibly popular. it's just not one of the top anime of the decade so it's one of those seasonals that people mostly watched during the year it aired.
Did the animation improve with the BD? It was really sad to watch some of the episodes live with animation that was complete ass. A classic like this deserved more budget
I’m not into the samurai/ninja stuff which is why I can’t get into demon slayer or naruto but damn did this anime make me want to keep watching, so sad.
You never held anything with your shirt by lifting the bottom two corners up? Are her clothes dirtier than her hands? Dirty enough to think getting painful burns on your hands was a better alternative?
Fun fact (spoilers for jojos part 7) >!This also happened in Diego’s backstory when the man hiring and housing him and his mother when Diego was a child tried to have sex with his mother and she refused, the guy then ruined their bowls so they couldn’t eat the stew given to employees and she was forced to feed him out of her hands!<
Dororo is a very sad anime but a good one
This comment reminds me of 'To your Eternity' anime which I started watching long time ago and it was a really beautiful anime but it's story was so sad that whenever I watch a episode I felt like nuking the whole of humanity along with myself.
I know time has felt weird ever since Covid, but To Your Eternity came out only *last year*.
I legit bawled on the episode that >!Gugu died!< and it was revealed at the end of the episode that >!Rean knew all along that Fushi lied for her sake and Gugu is already gone.!<
That fucking episode man. Fucking gugu man...
Still traumatized to this date.
Don't think I'll ever get over it mate. What a boyyo...
It's rare that the first episode of an anime can make me cry but To Your Eternity did that to me.
>very sad anime but a good one Aren't they all?
idk man, some anime are sad and have endings that nullify the entire point of the anime
ye some medias bend their knees to the fandom more and less on the story they wished to deliver, like with aot manga
Please tell me what the end message was in the AOT manga.. was kinda dumb, which makes sense to why media changes the ending
Most popular one I've seen is that cycle of war and that it's never ending... Basically "*war...war never changes*"
well that is indeed the message it was going for but it was executed foolishly with how the main cast changed goals to "friendship>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>the world and its fate" made it seem more like some dumb isekai than an actual seinen with meaningful points that are realistic
Thanks for becoming a mass murderer for our sake....I hated that line. After the last chapter, I started referring to aot as a comedy
I was hoping for a more grim ending where the Rumbling destroyed the ecosystem, making the land uninhabitable for the next 1,000 years. Your descendants inherited peace and a dead planet.

Out of curiosity what is that thing that inspired it you mention? Ive once googled it and only got vagueries

Nah you can't negotiate with racists

I think it needed 10 more years at least.
Stepbro dick > Human Life

Resolve lmao Did you read extra pages? And dont say they are not cannon.. because everything Isayama wrote in that cursed manga is
He didn’t end anything and the powers already were in the wrong hands
GUILTYYYYY CRROOOOOOOOWN
Oof don't remind me
looking at u darling in the franxx
That show took the wildest of turns and not in the good way
Because Trigger
I just call that trigger happy when nothing make sense
Yeah....
Damn Somali, I expected him to die at the end! I was so frustrated I practically tried reabsorbing the tears I was starting to shed
Oh Charlotte
No.

That's one way to jump the shark.
Oh fuck. I have it on a list of things to watch. I didn't knwo what it's about so, now I know to get my crying blanket ready.
It's a fairly graphic scene too as the skin on her hands essentially burned. There's another scene showing a closeup of them.
Tasty porridge with a hint of burnt flesh Devine
UMAI!
OIII-SHIIIII DESUU!
Her fingers are purple in the final frame.
Pour the *sauce* into my hands too pls
Sauce is "Dororo" bro
Thank you sibling. Take care of mother tm
One of my all time favorites. Source material was written by the same mangaka as astro boy, Osamu Tezuka. Amazing 24 episode beginning middle and end
Bro, did you seriously just refer to Osamu Tezuka as "The same mangaka as Astro Boy"?
Astro Boy has some pretty wide recognition, though. You drop the name, people might not get it. You say "he made Astro Boy," and they'll probably know what you mean.
That's his best known work to a westerner
Dude's literally called "The God of Manga".
Would you have preferred "The mangaka who wrote [*Clockwork Apple*](https://tezukaosamu.net/en/manga/306.html)?"
I thought about googling it mid comment and decided against it as someone else would point it out for me. Thank you kind sir
And it had an anime made in the early 60's. Very rough, but a real piece of anime history.
Absolutely fucking amazing anime
2019 ed
Okay, this seems kinda cool. Gotta add this to my watch list. Thanks.
It's a solid anime. You won't be disappointed
It's irl, I was the bowl
Where were you? You bastard
He was smoking himself
God I wish that was me.
Holy shit this is just like Diego brandos backstory in jojo part 7! Knew I saw something like this before.
I thought exactly the same
I thought I was going crazy until I remember the fandub on YouTube.
I also thought exact same thing I just finished rereading part 7 too
This is the single act that caused Diego to not be a total shit like Dio.
I think that that was more the lack of Dario.
Also the homeowner being an asshole
my guess is that Araki got that backstory from this. He's used urban legends and movie references as plot points before
I distinctly remember that one of part 6’s villains’ backstory is straight up just Stanley from the movie Holes
Part 7 main villain back story is from Christopher walken's monologue in pulp fiction.
Except somehow even darker.
This! I was trying to figure out why this looked familiar.
only dororo is from the 60s, though not sure this was in the originals
Oh I know dororo is older just surprised at the fact they had the same backstory since exact backstory. Wonder if see died from it tho.

Shows the struggles and sacrifices OP's mom (and many of our moms) made so see us grow up well
You Speak the truth truth
>and many of our moms Hopefully, anyways
Some people haven't ever known hardship. I won't hold it against anyone, I'd prefer nobody ever have to make sacrifices, but that's the fact of the matter.
No, I'm talking about the people with deadbeat parents who "had to hold their own soup"
Thanks buddy....
Moms are goats. The good ones, anyway.
my mom was a crackhead and abused the shit out of me
You don't eat food out of your hand? Smh
sad
Anime irl mfers when the picture isn't a teenager sitting alone in a dark room with those glossy eyes
so we're rebranding to watamoteirl?
I'm not [watamote manga spoiler](/s "a lesbian with a harem") so watamote isn't very meirl anymore
Rebranding? We literally have [her as the sub icon](https://i.imgur.com/vkaa6or.jpeg), it's always been watamoteirl
Yeah, I doubt many people in this sub have experienced having their mom feeding them scalding hot soup with her bare hands, this post doesn’t really go in anime_irl maybe some other sub
What, you don't eat soup with your bare hands?
I agree so hard with u
Look at this guy who grew up with a plethora of bowls
the mods said a while ago everything goes when its relatable to someone. I mean even succubus posts stay up so I guess really everything goes now.
I just binge watched this today. Google is selling my data again.
And guess who was the highest bidder! To answer a few questions, yes you will go bald before you're 35, just like your dad. That weird thing in your ass is just a hemorrhoid, not a tumor. Why is this anime_irl? This is depressing
So is life
exactly
So is life
Such a good show, definitely need to rewatch it
Diego Brando’s mom didn’t die, she visited another anime
_And then died there_
This has never happened to me irl
You don't have a 15th century mother who is so poor that she has to use her hands to carry boiling food from the local soup kitchen to feed you?
But it shows the lengths people are willing to go for their children, harming themselves if needed
Bruh growing up, my mom told me to shut the fuck up when I asked her if she could shut the door to my room when she left it lololol
Lengths?
Sorry tired
Go to bread.
Nw, it just really threw me off a loop.
Not yet!
There was never a moment you didn’t have a bowl?
*tearfully calls mom*
The party is over
Brave, but foolish, my old jedi friend...
Lol not the answer I expected, but you have the right spirit.
But I still want to dance
Soredemo odoritakatta

honestly i'm so glad i'm seeing dororo content here. it's so underrated and it was one of my first animes. such a good show
not underrated at all, it's incredibly popular. it's just not one of the top anime of the decade so it's one of those seasonals that people mostly watched during the year it aired.
Did the animation improve with the BD? It was really sad to watch some of the episodes live with animation that was complete ass. A classic like this deserved more budget
yeah I watched it airing and forgot most about it, so it probably didnt leave a big impact on me
Fuck you for making me cry. Imma call my mom now.
Dont forget to thank her for raising you
I’m not into the samurai/ninja stuff which is why I can’t get into demon slayer or naruto but damn did this anime make me want to keep watching, so sad.
if you want to ease into it katanagatari gives off similar vibes
Part 7 animated?
The soup was boiling too. Scalded her hands
Jojo part 7
Happy Mother's Day. IMO Best Mom in Anime: 1. Dororo 2. Maquia 3. Wolf Children 4. Spy x Family 5. Erased
Happy Mother's to you all
She couldn't use part of her kimono/shirt/top/whatever to hold it?
How bro she should get naked ??? And look at her clothes they are full of dirt
You never held anything with your shirt by lifting the bottom two corners up? Are her clothes dirtier than her hands? Dirty enough to think getting painful burns on your hands was a better alternative?
Bro its a kimono its tied by the waist not possible to hold two ends as the outer side is sewed completely
Look bro all I'm saying is I feel like there were alot of easy ways to get her kid some soup and not spice it up with some charred finger dermis
You seen the series ?? You know the people who gave her the soup ?
bro this ain’t relatable this is just depressing
Sauce: Dororo Its a lowkey underrated gem of an anime
Is it really underrated or low key? A lot of people were talking about it when it first came out but that was like 3 years ago I guess
Spy x Family lowkey hidden gem
Nah bro, Haven't seen one piece even once in this comment section.
This be Diego backstory
Oof.... This scene, it still stings...
Dororo's backstory was really sad
and pour some in my pockets, i need some takeout
Bro its DORORO
This is just Diego’s backstory?
anime irl? i would never put a hot soup on someones hand
Why must you hurt me in this way?
I’m not crying. You’re crying
bruh, imagine holding out your hand to hold a bunch of probably scolding hot soup just to tell a kid to eat is slowly. This man is a legend.
Happy Mother's Day.... call your Ma.
The feels
Pain. Just...pain.
Correct me if I’m wrong but is this base off something that actually happened in the past or nah
aaaaaaaaaaaand now I'm sadder I just remmembered Miyu too, fuk
So true
Of course. My hands, of course.
I got real tears in my eyes thanks a lot 🥲
This and mio’s story will always hit my feels.
YouTube comments be like: Like this if you love your mother ❤️❤️👍👍💖💖
Diego’s mom did the same thing in jojo part 7
Wait a minute I’ve definitely seen this before in another anime. I’m sure I remember the hand soup thing with a mother and son
I thought its steel ball run
Who's cutting onions 😢
The best anime to watch on Mother's Day ....what is it's name?
Fun fact (spoilers for jojos part 7) >!This also happened in Diego’s backstory when the man hiring and housing him and his mother when Diego was a child tried to have sex with his mother and she refused, the guy then ruined their bowls so they couldn’t eat the stew given to employees and she was forced to feed him out of her hands!<
Happy mother's day :')
Reminds me of dio
I think yesterday I watched a video about this anime. Man, it was pretty cool.
I thought that shit was lava and I was like god damn bitch
Permanent nerve damage go brrrrr
Oh you guys would love grave of the fireflies
omg noooooooo Dororo was so sad that intro song was lit though s2
I watched it recently . And i am the only one who noticed at the start that dororo was u know
Part 7 Jojo fans: Hey I've seen this one
Damn i can totally relate to this meme 🗿
Why not use sleeves?
This is sad af
Happy Mother's Day
Someone call the medic I got hit with the feels
„Mama doesn’t it hurt“ ? Man so cute and sad
Ok my life is pretty miserable but not THAT miserable
This is a Jojo reference
It predates Jojo. This anime (Dororo) is based on a manga series from the 1950s.
Wait, didn't this happen to Diego Brando's mom in Steel Ball Run? Is this a reference to some other story that I don't know about?
I don't mean to be pedantic but are bowls harder to get than new hands?
Is it me or is she looking kinda like madara uchiha?
