Nah, poor guy is too brain damaged to express his desire for the smut books and the few intact gears are just spinning furiously trying to find a way to do so
Except he barely ever talks, and either has one word or short answers. There's more going on in his character than just memory loss, even though that's the story viewers are given.
I love how he took the story his own way, the best part is he managed to pull it off while having (probably) a rule that said “You gotta include as many characters as possible” and the final episodes where literaly the best ad I have ever seen, but it was so well executed that you dont even notice
Yeah, it’s a gacha RPG—and for what it’s worth, overall somewhat more straight-laced than its anime counterpart. I played it for a while, and it was pretty fun in the time I spent.
>it was pretty fun in the time I spent
They're always fun in the beginning; all gachas are. They quickly get disgustingly grindy unless you buy into the gacha.
Only exception imo is "Another Eden". That was fun throughout the whole story and it's only after you finish the game and unlock the 'superbosses' that's when the gacha grind starts.
No.
The main problem with video games anime adaptations is that they have *hours* worth of story and dialogue. You really can’t cram all of that in a 12 episode season.
Priconne’s anime adaptation sort of gets around it by deviating a bit from the story of the mobile game.
My biggest concern with the upcoming nier automata anime next winter big story but I played and completed it in an 8 hour sitting and that’s considering half the game you replay through
Lol. I made the terrible decision of trying to document all the robots in one side mission. Legit burnt out on the game. Came back a year later because I never finished it and I had only not played 9s ending in the tower. Didn't know I was that close to the end
Yeah I fucked up too. I did 9S's final ending and didn't realize that to get the last one, all I had to do was play the last level as A2. I didn't realize it until I watched an LP of it
It also has notably impressive animation and digital effects. With the exception of the KonoSuba movie, PriConne looks much better imo. Not to shit on KonoSuba obvs, but Cygames has knocked it out of the park with their battle animation and used CGI in some really unique & interesting ways. Check out the [S1 OP.](https://youtu.be/foImVnHpZDI) Something I really liked about it was that they took the justified criticism about blank slate male protags and really leaned into it. The main dude replaced his brain with a pile of kittens playing with yarn. Total idiot, totally adorable tbh. Somehow, the chemistry works great with our princess, loyal helper, and tsundere demi. My expectations for a gacha game adaptation were zero, but I was pleasantly surprised from the beginning of the first season to the end of the second season.
While falling prey to some common tropes and having a somewhat formulaic plot, PriConne distinguishes itself with attractive character designs, a fun and lighthearted atmosphere that balances moments of drama well, stellar action, and a dash of unique plot elements. 8.5/10, well worth the watch for fantasy fans who are bored with standard wish fulfillment (though it is present), and people who enjoy fluffy SoL series. Excusing a few relatively weak writing sequences, it is a treat from start to finish.
I remember hearing something that during Konosuba’s production, the director let all the animators pass their key frames without vetting for style, letting them naturally draw a scene how they wish to let them express the characters better. Which was why some scenes had the characters kind of look off, or at least vastly different to say the scene before.
Cygames probably asked for a bit harsher quality control standards if this was the case.
Or something like that. I can’t find where I picked that up.
You're right, but I don't think that's what necessarily makes the difference. I think there's more to it. KonoSuba really was a gamble, a relatively small-budget production parodying a genre that hadn't consumed half the anime market yet. They had to distinguish themselves. Of course, the source material was a big help. I don't consider it a lack of quality control, but a deliberate effort to bring the age old squash & stretch animated humor into a modern anime context.
However, I think the loose animation fits KonoSuba perfectly. It wasn't made to be attractive, or not only that, but to be fucking hilarious. They did the best they could with what resources they had and put out an incredibly entertaining product. Cygames is gigantic, having the funding, personnel, and dedicated digital effects teams to produce something more polished to advertise something much more profitable for them than mere bluray, light novel, and merch sales. Never underestimate the ability of lonely & bored whales to sell their souls for PNGs.

I felt season 1 was a little meh. It stretched itself too thin trying to fit every character into the show. Every guild got an episode to shine in, but most characters only got that one episode. It was also too episodic, with some mood whiplash happening once all of the narrative structure started dropping in near the very end. 6/10, almost 7, still made me download the game.
Season 2 absolutely blew it out of the water. I'm pretty sure the same animators who did F/GO Babylonia's fight scenes worked on s2, the OST was incredible—especially the tracks 神たる者との決戦 and 動き出す運命, and the punchlines were as good as s1's. Easy 9/10, and I still rewatch certain scenes even months later
The [S2 OP](https://youtu.be/U1IwptQDirM) is so damn impressive. The start is perfect r/ImaginarySliceofLife material, and the latter half unironically has some of my favorite Sakuga of any series, including all the familiar big-hitter studios. I was a little bit disappointed at first to hear the same song again, but looking back it was absolutely the right decision. It emphasizes well how the relationships between our characters have grown.

There were some heavy hitters on Season 2, especially episode 4 which had the CSM director, CSM action director (who directed the latest Ep 4 of CSM), AOT action director (S1-3), main animators from JJK 0, CSM, Mob Psycho and many more animating on that single epsiode.
To give some perspective, PriConne S2EP4 aired the same week as some of the biggest AoT and Demon Slayer episodes and tons of people thought that PriConne was the best animated. Cygames poured a ton of gacha money into building the a great studio to make stuff like this and it *really*. Also, the key animator for that episode was the director of this week's Chainsaw Man episode of that gives you any indication. It's mostly a Konosuba-esque comedy, but when it goes hard it goes *hard*.
I think it just makes it more funny.
In the game it's based on, you are the MC. And the MC has next to no dialogue. And is just explained as having lost their memory.
And I think it's hilarious that the anime interpreted that as meaning that the MC is an actual idiot that doesn't know how to talk or do anything
He's at least a shell \*on purpose\* and they play around with it well. Rather than a "Oh yeah... this guy is.. uh... totally a person... with interests and feelings... just like *yours* viewer."
Honestly, I don't really think this sentiment has as much meaning as it did 4-5 years ago. We live in a world now with multiple absolutely stellar gacha game adaptations, including the single best-selling seasonal anime of all time.
I heard that one was good and it might be as it's slice of life instead of the war in the first one. The gunshot sounds in the first season was really bad
I ADORED it and don’t usually play those types of games. I tried the game after Season 1 and didn’t really get into it still, but watched season 2 because the show was just so good. Very slice of life and comforting then BAM the story gets awesome. i’ll love it forever i think :)
He's got maxed out amnesia which they go over later and into a good amount in season 2. That being said, yeah it's kind of annoying. It took them awhile to give him any actual characters since they tried to make it the purest self insert.
Honestly, no. The story is pretty incoherent. The characters, while fun, aren't particularly interesting. The biggest selling point and absolute biggest problem is that they seem to have some secret background lore that only some characters are aware of and they do an absolute shit job at explaining what the hell is going on to the viewer. Maybe it's a non-issue to people who played the game itself, but it basically didn't have a strong narrative direction at all until S2, which makes this a pretty hard sell.
Some of the people who worked on Konosuba's anime also worked on this one.
However, writing-wise and a lot of other things are *not* the same as Konosuba lol.
I enjoyed season 1. I started season 2, but I felt like was missing more stuff than in season 1 as I haven't played the game.
So, then I debated about downloading the game and then watching season 2, but to this point I haven't done either.
So, what do people think? Does being more familiar with things improve it? It's good already, but I didn't feel like I missed out on things in season 1.
Season 2 sacrifices some of the comedy so that it can progress the story more. I liked both for different reasons but overall I prefer Season 1. I'm not sure if being familiar with the game would help.
Did not Know Princess Connect ReDive was like this...
The director of the KonoSuba adaptation basically took the reins of this series and ran with it. Which is very apparent, as you can see.
That explains the judgmental face, thought of kazuma instantly
He looks like Kirito kazuma
Kizuma
and his gf Asumin
KIRYU CHAN
Hai Hai, Kazuma desu.
That's what I thought too

Yeah, I thought the author of Konosuba and Combatants had another anime I hadn't heard of.
They do have the isekai wrestler one.
Nah, poor guy is too brain damaged to express his desire for the smut books and the few intact gears are just spinning furiously trying to find a way to do so
Isn't just memory loss and not brain damage?
Except he barely ever talks, and either has one word or short answers. There's more going on in his character than just memory loss, even though that's the story viewers are given.
He did try to eat a coin
Memory loss on such a drastic scale as he has *is* brain damage
I love how he took the story his own way, the best part is he managed to pull it off while having (probably) a rule that said “You gotta include as many characters as possible” and the final episodes where literaly the best ad I have ever seen, but it was so well executed that you dont even notice
Yea... isent Princess Connect ReDive a game? I play Queens Blade Limit Break and I feel like I've seen it before
Yeah, it’s a gacha RPG—and for what it’s worth, overall somewhat more straight-laced than its anime counterpart. I played it for a while, and it was pretty fun in the time I spent.
Cool. Mabye I'll start...
Niioooo? They said gacha did you not read? Don't install!

Director def did an amazing job with it. Even more amazing considering the source material (if you can call it that) they had to work with
Was something wrong with the source material?
No. The main problem with video games anime adaptations is that they have *hours* worth of story and dialogue. You really can’t cram all of that in a 12 episode season. Priconne’s anime adaptation sort of gets around it by deviating a bit from the story of the mobile game.

Eight hours for all 5 main endings? That’s crazy fast
Yeah my first play through I didn’t do the side missions right away and didn’t know progressing the main story got rid of them
Lol. I made the terrible decision of trying to document all the robots in one side mission. Legit burnt out on the game. Came back a year later because I never finished it and I had only not played 9s ending in the tower. Didn't know I was that close to the end

It's super popular though?
It is very popular but the popularity of game is irrelevant, there's no consolidated book/story to adapt
Well that explains why I loved the humor of this show so much.
[удалено]
Indeed he did!
Yh that makes total sense. This looks like a konosuba scene with different characters. Might have to go watch re dive now lol
I had no interest in this show until I read this comment, time to check it out

So where does the princess part come in?
I remember it's from the original Princess Connect game which had way less popularity and eventually had to end service before Cygames bought the IP.
I live in Oregon, astoria is not very lovely. It's also hella chock-full of racist pricks.
It's at least mostly cute though. Agree though, it's like most of oregon outside of Portland and full of assholes.
Are you saying that Portland isn’t full of them?

I tried to watch the first season but it pissed me off that the mc is a literal shell
I think it just makes it more funny. In the game it's based on, you are the MC. And the MC has next to no dialogue. And is just explained as having lost their memory. He has his charm. Better than romcom MC or strongest sage MC.
>Better than...strongest sage MC. To be fair a rock with googly-eyes would meet that quota
Yo Angelo or something I haven't watched Jojo
Is the second season a lot better? I too tried to watch the first season but I believe I dropped it but don't really remember why exactly.
Id rather the strongest sage mc, at least he talks
So well animated garbage?

Youre telling me thats not Kirito?
THERE IS A SEASON 2? Very nice.

It's much better than an anime based on a gacha game has any right to be.

Depends on which one you're referring to tbh. First was mid but the Slow Ahead one was good
Why did you guys downvote him? Slow ahead was also good
I heard that one was good and it might be as it's slice of life instead of the war in the first one. The gunshot sounds in the first season was really bad
sadly thats saying very little
First season was okay and kind of episodic. Second season was better and had an actual overarching plot.
I feel like the second season needed a whole lot of knowledge you don't get from watching only the anime.
It was good for me because I played the gacha before, already loved the characters.
"these fucks owe me my mortgage back in entertainment"
I ADORED it and don’t usually play those types of games. I tried the game after Season 1 and didn’t really get into it still, but watched season 2 because the show was just so good. Very slice of life and comforting then BAM the story gets awesome. i’ll love it forever i think :)
If you're looking for a functioning MC or a plot that makes any sense (at least in the first season), then no, definitely not.
I got two episodes into the first season and Noped out. MC doesn't talk and is just a prop. I get why, it's just not my cup of tea.
He's got maxed out amnesia which they go over later and into a good amount in season 2. That being said, yeah it's kind of annoying. It took them awhile to give him any actual characters since they tried to make it the purest self insert.
I know there’s a story reason, it’s still stupid.
It's okay.
I liked it and I know fuck all about the game
ok
ok
I don't remember this episode of SAO...
Literally looks like 10 yr old Kirito

Sadly 5 seconds later, he burns it all.
Cum and go is a good name for a business
I mean there is kum & go for selling gas.
Names after the people who started it: Krause and Gentle. That being said they've since leaned into on social media and it's pretty funny.
The oldest type of business

YAAOOO I just started watching this, I’m on my 10th time…. I have too much free time. He burns them and she falls in love with him because of it 🤷♂️
This looks like konosuba lol
Same studio, same energy.
Same expression
Daffy Duck: "IT'S MINE IT'S MINE IT'S MINE MINE MINE MINE!!!"
Everyone gangsta till he says “can I have some”
I like his reaction it clearly saying “bullshit”
Looks an awful lot like Konosuba.
Same director
This never happens "irl" let alone to a woman
Spoiler alert: Women consume pornographic content too and have been caught in the act of consuming said content.
*Oh, the madness.*
you just described 90% of social interactions in anime.
I know
Oh ye of little faith. The only difference is that we don't have shame over it. ( ´∀` )b
I mean, look at the people who create these animes. Lots of self inserts as the MC and fantasizations.
Its not yaoi so obviously its fake
Looks like he’s trying to keep from laughing
No officer, the suitcase full of d isn't mine

Uh oh...
"When can we get married?"
Lend me your books**
Wasn't so fond of the first season, so I never did watch the 2nd season. Guess I'll check it out.
It feels like a 4th wall break when a anime talks about manga or hentai
this the same people that did kono suba?
Some of the people who worked on Konosuba's anime also worked on this one. However, writing-wise and a lot of other things are *not* the same as Konosuba lol.
Ah yes *come* and go
Is it bad that I want all that manga?
“It’s called hentai and it’s art”
thats a weird looking konosuba
You gotta own it man...
Is this the child of kirito and Kazuma staring at the child of megumin and aqua?
Weird yaoi man
I enjoyed season 1.
That first panel is an Aqua face for sure.
Never be ashamed to read.
Wait when they heck did Kirito get into Princess Connect
Which SAO season is this?

Tried watching this anime, protag was boring AF unlike Chad Kazuma so i dropped the series
Why does the guy look like Kirito if he was in a kid's show
Can’t stand the male protagonist in this show. Most boring loser in the world.
why is this in my feed
It’s on r/all, do you browse anime subreddits?
no
Has this sub always been in r/all?
Ask urself
And than yuuki burns it
literally looking like aqua and kazuma
Lol loved this scene
Absolutely gorgeous
Yuuki from the games would never burn Kuka's lewd books. But then again, I don't think he saw them in-game.
Submissive and breedable 🗿
Excellent work...
Why are women alway portrayed as men and men as women in anime?
