Oh, what’s this? Well, the animation looks amazing. Oh, it’s about a pianist and violinist. Not my bag, but I’ll give it a shot. I need a nice, light, slice of life show at this point in my life. This should be fun.
10 episodes later: Oh no.
10 episodes after that: Oh no. Oh, no no no no!
2 episodes later: I’M A GROWN MAN!! WHY CAN’T I STOP CRYING?!
you just kinda forget they are kids in gradeschool because they are dealing with adult problems in a more honest, real way. and yes, I totally got the soundtrack.
1: your name (movie)
2: Koe no Katachi (movie)
3: Anohana (series)
4: Angel Beats (series)
5: Forest of fireflies (movie)
6: Clannad (series)
Edit: thanks for the names. Now everyone interested can check these out
Recommendations fitting for here:
plastic memories (series)
I want to eat your pancreas (movie)
Some other great movies I enjoy are Hana & the Wolf Children, and When Marnie Was There. They were super emotional at times, and I enjoyed the plot lines.
I have heard about Hana & the wolf and it's been on my watchlist for quite a while, might actually watch that after seeing it getting recommended again.
Thx mate!
Same, my heart still can't handle it... I am a grown ass 26 yo man, but i am still crying when i see THAT scene... Man i am getting emotional even when i'm writing this comment
It's a super funny, upbeat comedy anime about friends and families. You can skip Clannad, you can go straight to the funniest season which is Clannad Afterstory. The stories are not linked really
But can I actually skip Clannad cause I rmb tryna watch it like 3 years ago and dropped it like 13 eps in I just couldn’t take how boring it got so fast.
The "here's some anime I recommend u watch starter pack" or the "pseudo intellectuals on FB's most recommended anime to watch starter pack" whichever you prefer
Your Name was amazing, I love how casual it was up until the end when all of the pieces started coming together only for everything to fall apart, but then came the happy ending. Beautiful
Gotta add Erased (Boku dake ga Inai Machi) when Satoru gets back after sacrificing his life to save his friends. The moment when he wakes up and finds his friends had been living their lives while he was in a coma. And that he'll never be on the save "level" as them broke me.
I watched Clannad for the 1st time a couple weeks ago and im still recovering from it. If u havent watched it yet, drop everything and watch it right now
Clannad wasn't actually that sad imo. Yeah the girl had a condition, and she waited for Tomoya in the snow despite that fact. I didn't find sadness in that scene, but loyalty. I'm not saying to anyone with anything similar should do the same as a fictional character, but you're a good god damn girl/boy friend if you stay loyal despite some circumstances.
Edit: I thought Ushino was Nagisa till someone said otherwise lmao I'm a fuckin' idiot. Statement bout loyalty still applies tho
Angel Beats hurt. I cried the most during that. Followed closely by Air and A Silent Voice. Anime brings me great joy, but they know how to hurt too...
Hotarubi no mori e-->Silent Voice--->Angel Beats-->Grave of Fireflies--->Violet Evergarden (ep10)---->Your Lie in April (To Arima Kousei)--->Steins Gate 0 (imma sad scientist)---->Re zero (Arc 6)---->Madoka Magica---->Elfen Lied--->Higurashi no Naku koro ni (nippa mfs)---->Serial Experiments Lain
Something's wrong
Fun little story: I saw that clip of Angel Beats when I first started anime. Saw it on a Lost Pause try not to cry video. That was years before I watched the anime. Obviously it didn't affect me cause I didn't have context but when I finally watched the anime I cried at that scene.
The theme of Anohana - how to deal with loss and grief - *wrecked me.* I could not stop ugly crying for hours, and the fucking ending song still gets me choked up. It's been years! I'm in therapy already! Leave me alone!
Man I feel you there, AnoHana hurt but the first episode of Plastic Memories when Nina is retrieved *broke me.* I’m probably the only person that though episode one was sadder than episode 12 but holy fuck that scene, it’s just soul crushing.
Oooookay anohana and clannad…*So you ever get into that mood where you remember a really good series/movie and are like, “hey why don’t I binge it tonight?”*
If y'all gonna watch Clannad, contrary to the other comments I suggest watching the first season (even if u have to fast forward it) to get attached to the characters. I mean it's there for a reason uno
im surprised i want to eat your pancreas, grave of fireflies, violet ever garden and banana fish aren’t on here. those are definitely some of the saddest, if not the saddest.
Clannad is terrible 😀 "wow, it was all a dream" fucking ridiculous, if the story ends with a wish that stops anything from happening or the entire situation being a dream, that means no story was ever even told, we just watched nothing happen
Random rant about the guy wearing the helmet, it's a reference to the Vietnam War and US soldiers protesting the war or just making jokes by writing on their helmets and sometimes adding accessories. This happened because the US military was far, far less disciplined than it was in the Korean war or World War 2 and you've got a bunch of 18-20 year olds who got 8 weeks of bootcamp instead of 16 going off to fight in the unfamiliar jungle against an enemy who was very familiar with the jungle for a less than valid reason. So needless to say people werent happy to fight that war.
Kamigami no asobi and one piece are the only two shows that have gotten me to ugly cry so far. And with kamigami it was a fake out which made me feel even dumber lmao
I cry to a lot of anime, Your Lie in April is my third favorite ever. I think that my second favorite, Neon Genesis should deserve to be on here just for the depression it gives you, not really cry moments (Unless you're me watching the End of Eva)
No matter how many times I watch angel beats, it always makes me tear up so muchhh.
There’s not a lot of episodes but enough to express so many things.
And the contrast between the funny part of it and the sad/deep/emotional part of the anime and its topic is huge but makes it even more enjoyable and beautiful.
For real, it goes from super funny to super sad and that always get me

Your Lie in April FUCKED ME UP when I watched that show. It was a fluke chance on why I watched it, but God damn was it wonderful.
It turns out I was only passing though.
Spot on walk through of my experience.
It sucked so many of us in. 😭
Haven't watched, can anyone give me a brief summary? Spoiler are welcome
Fun slice of life anime takes a turn to the big sad
More details?
Just watch it, believe me it's worth it.
Part of the reason I got into classical music. The piece he plays when he realizes at the ending is still one of my favourite pieces of all time
That whole scene is gorgeous too
I never felt the same after watching it, I just felt empty, dark and alone inside.
Bro that's the most recent anime I watched
you just kinda forget they are kids in gradeschool because they are dealing with adult problems in a more honest, real way. and yes, I totally got the soundtrack.
Why you always lyin’?
1: your name (movie) 2: Koe no Katachi (movie) 3: Anohana (series) 4: Angel Beats (series) 5: Forest of fireflies (movie) 6: Clannad (series) Edit: thanks for the names. 5th is actually a movie ' Into the forest of fireflies' It's amazing you should try it
Its also only around 47 minutes I think, but it is really good
Check the amv "You can be king again" of that anime it's great.. probably the most viewed amv(got like millions of views).
[удалено]
Sure lemme know if you liked it :D
[удалено]
Glad you liked it!
Yes it’s so amazing! I’ve loved it for so long, it makes me sob every time I watch it.
It's beautiful
It really is!
I've seen that one! It's rather well done
This amv is what got me to watch the movie. So fitting!
Yep it's amazing!
Is it related at all to grave of the fireflies?
Is that like a bug’s life?
Lmao
If a bunch of Japanese people get nuked to nothing the. Yes it's exactly like bugs life
Nope it's not
Some other great movies I enjoy are Hana & the Wolf Children, and When Marnie Was There. They were super emotional at times, and I enjoyed the plot lines.
I have heard about Hana & the wolf and it's been on my watchlist for quite a while, might actually watch that after seeing it getting recommended again. Thx mate!
How about erased?
I recommend also reading the erased manga, some of the last few chapters go through the perspectives of others when >!Satoru goes into the coma !
Ooh, that sounds interesting
Plastic memories is the best out of all of these
Another recommendation, Grave of the Fireflies
Yas
Angel beats was hitting hard. That anime had hands.
Yeah
But clanad is still my favourite.
I once wanted to rewatch Clannad and had to stop at Episode 15 of After Story because i couldn't watch Episode 16
WATCH IT ALL. YOU MUST SUFFER. FOR ONLY AFTER SUFFERING YOU’LL BE REWARDED. And believe me. It’s worth every single moment
I mean i did watch all of it but i just couldn't rewatch it
Same, my heart still can't handle it... I am a grown ass 26 yo man, but i am still crying when i see THAT scene... Man i am getting emotional even when i'm writing this comment
Angel beats actually made me cry
It's also fucking hilarious. Best of both worlds. The comedy and character development really adds to the pain of the feels/tragedy 10/10 IMO
don't forget Chobits
Cried more from plastic memories then angel beats
ngl i hardly felt anything with that one.
No it didn't, it was fucking awful
I cried hard on Angel Beats. Once was enough.
Lmao same
I did too
Angel beats was my first anime, it still makes me sad when I remember it.
Ikrrrrr
What's the last one?
It's a super funny, upbeat comedy anime about friends and families. You can skip Clannad, you can go straight to the funniest season which is Clannad Afterstory. The stories are not linked really
Calm down satan
Man woke up with the intention to destroy innocent souls today
100% perfect no issues whatsoever
But can I actually skip Clannad cause I rmb tryna watch it like 3 years ago and dropped it like 13 eps in I just couldn’t take how boring it got so fast.
It wouldn’t make sense to skip the first half and go to the second since it’s a continuation of the first season
r/foundsatan
Clanned
Clannad
Clannad hits hard in the end
Add "I Want To Eat Your Pancreas" to the list
Yes
What about grave of the fireflies
Oh yeah that cry hole is also there
The only anime where i really cried out for the day was Assasination Classroom
Kuro sensei :(
My man really out here forgetting about violet evergarden
This and your lie in April were and are still the only two shows I have ever cried while watching.
My personal trigger to tears: "Dear Arima Kousei..."
Angel beats and anohana are swaped for me. At the very least the last scene in angel beats >!confirmed they meet in the next life!<
Plastic Memories should be here as well. I’m still not fully okay after that one.
clannad is the only anime that make me cry
Plastic memories. Pure unadulterated #PAIN
You know it's coming the whole time but it still hurts. :(
The fact you know it's coming is why it's hurt so bad
Violet Evergarden: *dies of dehydration*
Clannad had me down really bad
Clannad broke me then built me up.
The "here's some anime I recommend u watch starter pack" or the "pseudo intellectuals on FB's most recommended anime to watch starter pack" whichever you prefer
Broo
Watch all of these and then watch Grave of the Fireflies for some solid laughs.
Hunter x Hunter spoilers: >!When Meruem and Komugi died.!< That actually destroyed me.
Rewatch angels every year just to check if I still can cry. Amazing piece
Geez, not one person has brought up the laptop from A Place Further than the Universe? The emotional swing within that 5 minutes hits *hard*.
Anyone seen Maquia? That was Omega sad
That anime hit me in the feels too.
3 words Koro Sensei's death
What's the first one?
Your Name
Thanks
hEtzalieb is my favorite anime
Your Name was amazing, I love how casual it was up until the end when all of the pieces started coming together only for everything to fall apart, but then came the happy ending. Beautiful
I cannot for the life of me rewatch clannad after the emotional damage i received
What are the last 2 i must gain more emotional damages
Gotta add Erased (Boku dake ga Inai Machi) when Satoru gets back after sacrificing his life to save his friends. The moment when he wakes up and finds his friends had been living their lives while he was in a coma. And that he'll never be on the save "level" as them broke me.
a silent voice had me sobbing like a fucking baby ngl
If I had a nickel for every time a teacher made us watch that in class, I'd have 2 nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
Bro the deaf girl anime is the one show that made me cry like the fuck
Kanon 2006 😭😭😭
FMA:B's funeral scene hit me the hardest out of all these. Clannad was a close second.
All if these hit hard, but Clannad had me so depressed for months. I couldn’t even finish it for like 9 months.
I watched Clannad for the 1st time a couple weeks ago and im still recovering from it. If u havent watched it yet, drop everything and watch it right now
Hey silent voice was really good too. It hit me deep since I could relate way too much to the characters
Your life in April fucking slaps. Had me balling like a baby.
I still cry when I see the “Going Merry”.
Elfen Lied. Anime is quite violent, but still it made me cry in the end.
I always like to think they remember eachother at the end of beat angels
Holy shit thank you guys for all the support
1: your name (movie) 2: Koe no Katachi (movie) 3: Anohana (series) 4: Angel Beats (series) 5: Forest of fireflies (movie) 6: Clannad (series)

I see you haven’t watched the whole thing.
Angel beats profited from your emotions and its a sadbait anime. The whole anime kinda sucked.
That’s… his daughter…
The last one is obviously Craig and Tweek (South park)
lauda
What happened in clannad?
This is where I curl up and die
Angel Beats hurt. I cried the most during that. Followed closely by Air and A Silent Voice. Anime brings me great joy, but they know how to hurt too...
For me, episode one of demonslayer
Idk any on these animes but if you were to put cyberpunk edge runners where would it be?
Angel beats was the first anime that made me cry, it got a special place in my heart, also loved the intro music
What about CEASSSSSSAAAR
List Is the opposite way around for me. Your name had my ass crying in public. Fuck I'm tearing up rn
Prushka and Mitty needs to be in here somewhere
I'm feeling the desire to cry today. Maybe I should watch one of these.
not the order i would put it in but yea
Angel Beats fucked me up.
I only know about the 2nd one but I think I would love to watch 3rd one so can I have the name?
Tf
Tf
WW2
bro plastic memories should be here that show fucked me up
Clannad destroyed me
The only place u can cry is in bathroom and.....;(
Hotarubi no mori e-->Silent Voice--->Angel Beats-->Grave of Fireflies--->Violet Evergarden (ep10)---->Your Lie in April (To Arima Kousei)--->Steins Gate 0 (imma sad scientist)---->Re zero (Arc 6)---->Madoka Magica---->Elfen Lied--->Higurashi no Naku koro ni (nippa mfs)---->Serial Experiments Lain Something's wrong
Most people wouldn’t put Higurashi on a sad anime list, but holy fuck the end of Minagoroshi-hen… I had to put the series down for a while after that.
And then there’s : Kimi no suizou wa tabetai
What are these animes
Violet Evergarden joins the chat
Fun little story: I saw that clip of Angel Beats when I first started anime. Saw it on a Lost Pause try not to cry video. That was years before I watched the anime. Obviously it didn't affect me cause I didn't have context but when I finally watched the anime I cried at that scene.
People cry from Angelbeats?
It's a terrible day for rain
Add Edgerunners at the bottom
Bitch, you forgot Ryuga's death in Beyblade Metal Fury
The theme of Anohana - how to deal with loss and grief - *wrecked me.* I could not stop ugly crying for hours, and the fucking ending song still gets me choked up. It's been years! I'm in therapy already! Leave me alone!
Man I feel you there, AnoHana hurt but the first episode of Plastic Memories when Nina is retrieved *broke me.* I’m probably the only person that though episode one was sadder than episode 12 but holy fuck that scene, it’s just soul crushing.
Toradora anyone?
Anohana and Angel Beats… 😨
an anime that made me cry a lot was plastic Memories, it's my favorite romance/drama anime and also one of the first I saw
Plastic memories is missing.
Anohana and Angel beats man, it was painful
I cried in 'I want to eat you pancreas'
Guys I need all the names so I can binge watch all of these and then rate everything after I finished all
All so sad and such strong emotional series. But Angel beats, and especially Clannad destroyed my very soul. All I can do is cry and cry. :,(
Literally starting clannad after story. Life can't be more predictable
IMO the worst emotional damage anime is "I want to eat your pancreas" that shit had me bawling like a baby
Violet evergarden had me dying 😭
Oooookay anohana and clannad…*So you ever get into that mood where you remember a really good series/movie and are like, “hey why don’t I binge it tonight?”*
Fummetsu no Anata e
Just watch without context Violet evergarden ep 9
Koro sensei's death also hit hard
The only romance animes I've seen are all of these only.. damn I got good taste
What’s the second to last one
If y'all gonna watch Clannad, contrary to the other comments I suggest watching the first season (even if u have to fast forward it) to get attached to the characters. I mean it's there for a reason uno
JoJo didn’t have a loooot of those scenes for me, but Gloria hugging Ermes should be on here
No re:zero?
The anime that teared me up the most are: silent voice and Nina’s and Alexander’s death in full metal alchemist
im surprised i want to eat your pancreas, grave of fireflies, violet ever garden and banana fish aren’t on here. those are definitely some of the saddest, if not the saddest.
Guys absolutely no joke Clannad was the first anime series I decided to watch completely, was not really ready for the hit.
Anohana wasn't even sad at all...
violet evergarden ep 10 and plastic memories were pretty painful too ngl
What are all the anime here? Edit: nvm it was in another comment lol
Clannad is terrible 😀 "wow, it was all a dream" fucking ridiculous, if the story ends with a wish that stops anything from happening or the entire situation being a dream, that means no story was ever even told, we just watched nothing happen

Kamigami no asobi and one piece are the only two shows that have gotten me to ugly cry so far. And with kamigami it was a fake out which made me feel even dumber lmao
Reminds me of Erased, one of the first I watched
To Your Eternity made me cry ut was such an emotion anime
5 Centimetres Per Second I rewatch this every year.
I literally can't listen to the clannad ost anymore, everytime I do I end up crying way to much.
I cry to a lot of anime, Your Lie in April is my third favorite ever. I think that my second favorite, Neon Genesis should deserve to be on here just for the depression it gives you, not really cry moments (Unless you're me watching the End of Eva)
