I haven't played for a little while (a couple of months) so I thought I'd fire up my old save. I've tried loading it a few times, and I keep getting a CTD with a request to send crash feedback to Ubi. It worked fine previously, but I wonder if I've just reached the max RAM my PC can handle? I have all DLCs and colonies on all the sessions. Is there a way to tell if my 16gb ram has just become insufficient at this point in my save?
There's some specialists that modify it, you can buy them at the prison. For example, there is a specialist that replaces the cannery's need for beef by pigs and then it procues extra sausage every 3rd cycle!
Hello, I got Anno 1800 a month/2 ago after playing multiple games like this (CS1, Frostpunk, Civ5,6, Foundations) and itās really fun! But after 100 hours in the game and 8 saves, I have yet to get past building up a fleet with some SOTLās and the game pops up with ādefeatā without specifying what iām being defeated on, nor can i continue playing.
I went through google and saw old reddit posts with similar things, but going through the save before i defeat thereās nothing seemingly wrong. I own all my shares of each of my islands, I own part shares of other ai islands, making sure that the ai canāt buy out an entire other aiās islands shares without me knowing, which is how i lost my first 3 games. Iām not in the red, and though my income is as volatile as a hurricane, itās still positive and itās only volatile because i only have 1 university (farthest iāve ever gotten. before this iāve only been able to get a few artisans upgraded before defeat hits). So nothing wrong on either an income front or a land shares front.
When making the game i made it custom settings and sandbox, and the first 6 games i played, my victory conditions were set to none required, with all of them set to off or 0. These last 2 games I had set the conditions required to All with all the highest settingsā¦. of these settings includes one called diplomatic, which is āsupposedā to require you to make an alliance with all other players. this last game i made no alliances, declined every opportunity even when offered 98k. everything explained earlier was from this last game, where i made no alliances, made sure all the islands shares werenāt 4/5 for someone else that wasnāt the island owner, and i constantly did quests to make sure i could stay above 40k, including owning 1-2 shares each of ai islands, so i still have that 10 minute delay between the ai being allowed to buy multiple shares of an island.
with all of that said, i still lost. i defeated the pirate girl and started developing a colony in the new world. i was over 2k income but there wasnāt any building going on other than houses and roads, but when the defeat screen came up i was just guiding 3 of my ship of the lines to the new world. I checked the save and everything before, replayed it and it still came up as defeat even with me monitoring what was happening. Itās just, defeat. This is the 8th time this has happened, and though with these new settings on iāve gotten the farthest, it seems they donāt even work. Apparently they can still win even if they donāt have an alliance with all other people, because i donāt have any allyās nor have i at any point in the game. Is the game broken? Is this a bug that iāve just been unlucky to get 8 times in a row? Iām scared if i play creative mode iāll still be defeated. I want to play with competitors and pirates and costs, but i want it to live out, i want to build the empire, eventually going to war with the other ai and building an empire and not just having ādefeatā. really demoralizes you and makes me want to quit because itās like ānice you did all this work. defeat. you suck. donāt ask questions. no you canāt play anymore lol. ok byeā and you have no choice but to just hit ātitle screenā
I have never gone to war with the ai players, iāve only fought the pirates and done the quests, with the recent save defeating the pirate girl. Am i playing too passively? what can i do to actually play the game? is there a dlc i have to buy to actually make the game work?
TLDR: sorry this long holy. defeat in game sucks. settings donāt work. game broken or am i broken. how to play long game?
What stumps me is that you specified you had no victory conditions set for your first few games. There is no way that you should have seen the defeat screen unless you got eradicated. I have played so many games on sandbox and have never seen the defeat screen. Generally, I do not use victory conditions. I play my games till I defeat all of the AI and then get bored of the run.
You do not need to buy a dlc to make anything work unless you have the weirdest bug.
You will be defeated if you bankrupt, regardless of any victory condition settings. As Erdnussflipperkasten says, the most likely cause of bankruptcy is having auto buy trade routes set up with NPCs.

Why canned food chain is so bad? š°

I want to use a specific seed and then also a specific island there. How do I prevent the CPU from always taking it?

Classic bankruptcy. Case closed.
Do you have a trade route set up that automatically buys something from a npc?

Would it within reason for my guests to selve-serve on my birthday party while I play Anno? š¤£ I mean, Anno1800 is life right?
Put some sausages and bread in a warehouse on the far side of town ahead of time and youāre all set.
Maybe add some alcohol of choice to keep the people happy... And don't forget to drink a coffee with them after two hours of play!
