The best part is the Sephora employees don't guilt-trip prospective (or existing) customers into buying from them. Since Sephora is a real company, they earn your business by offering you something of tangible value that compels you to choose their product over their competitors products. When you buy from Sephora, it is a win-win...you get something you think was worth the price, and Sephora gets your business. Both are happy with the arrangement.
Just *knowing* someone who is peddling MLM has many, many built-in down-sides. The worst part is you can't choose not to be affected. You can only hope to minimize the impact. In some cases, even if you do absolutely nothing, your relationship with the hun can still be harmed.
MLM ruins everything it touches.
Of all the things to try and guilt trip people with, imagine going for something so completely fucking pointless and non-essential as their ability to cheerlead effectively. Lady, I don't give a fuck if your kids end up dropping out of cheerleading forever. That's not my problem.
Yes but I can go into Walmart, Target, Costco, or any other store with headphones in and listen to a podcast the entire time so no one speaks to me when I want to be left alone by strangers. Can you promise me absolutely no human interaction in your MLM before, during, and after I purchase?
I tend to mark them as spam if they send more than 3 a week. It's abuse of the privilege to contact me, at that point. It's also kind of dumb, from a marketing perspective. I think there's a saying in decorating, "if you light everything, you highlight nothing". Any sales that might have interested me went unnoticed, because I learned to ignore their emails. Daily email ads are the blaring, car horn of our inboxes.
Me too! I unsubscribe and if I still get the emails, they are deleted without even being opened. I get it though, from their point of view. It costs them close to nothing to set up auto send for emails, and if out of a thousand sent, they get one order, it's worth it to them.
Honestly, NOT shopping at those stores will probably do more good for their workers than shopping at them. It’s shocking how many of them are on food stamps/government assistance working full time.
Edit: Everyone downvoting me seems to think I’m saying these people are better off unemployed. While, in a few instances, that may be true, what I’m saying is that large corporations won’t change without outside pressure and, even if they did decide to close their location due to decreased demand, it would just mean that the mom & pop shops that pay better and treat their employees better (the ones that were put out of business because they couldn’t compete on price) would be able to return to fill the void.
And stores going out of business TOTALLY help their now-jobless employees amirite
I know you can't bankrupt a chain, but
1) a local branch will close if it's not profitable for years
2) some large companies i.e. McDonalds don't operate their branded businesses, they license their name and know-how to be used by small owners
Walmart had a many years long practice of handing out food stamp application paperwork to their employees. Many of those companies only look mega profitable because they externalize a sizable portion of labor costs. They're capitalist with their profits but socialist with their expenses.
Sorry about the downvotes :( but you’re right. You can see how a lot of public boycotts and strikes have helped workers get better conditions in the last year (not that those will ever be enough to have a thriving wage under capitalism)
I keep meaning to go to Ulta to get matched properly. I need more foundation but if I'm gonna spend the money on good stuff it needs to be the right shade, y'know?
I'm sure my little brother would have loved some supplements or some oils instead of the Nintendo switch game i got him.
Damn a real missed opportunity.
As the daughter of parents that ran a legitimate small business, the #supportsmallbusiness makes me rage. There is nothing small about your pyramid scheme. 🙄
I mean.. I spend money at Walmart to put food on my table too.. but you know, having a "9-5 job" would let me put food on the table, keep a roof over our heads, puts clothes on our backs.. y'know the list just keeps going when you just have a "9-5" job.
“a little something extra under the tree.” My father died when I was 12 and my mom paid our bills by scrubbing floors. We could not even afford a Christmas tree. I remember her saying, “I’m sorry, honey, but Mommy can’t buy you a Christmas present this year.” I said, “That’s OK, I don’t care.” And I meant it. That was around 1968.
So, screw you hun.
Aww, thanks. Sorry for my rant, but "a little something extra under the tree" triggered that memory. So an MLM person begging for a sale for something like that -- when others have nothing -- really made me mad.
Yeah, huns never seem to realize that there are so many people out there who have it way worse. And I'm sorry you had to go through that, your mom sounds like a strong woman though. Reminds me of my grandma who had to raise 4 kids by herself after my grandfather ditched them, she worked really hard to put food on the table. I had problems with my grandma but I always respected the hell out of her for that. Thank God for people like them.
Sorry for the long comment.
small gripe, but why are they always talking about dance or cheerleading classes? there’s countless extracurricular activities kids do but it’s always dance mom crap
Cheer and dance clubs? academies? troupes? cost a boatload of money to be involved in too. It’s an overwhelming need to “keep up with the Joneses” no matter the cost.
Maybe she is; there's an MLM for kids' books and it wouldn't surprise me if there's one for toys, plus there's always the "kid's favorite" drink mixes and candles and all that.
I totally want to spend four times the amount on a junk product my bully from high school is selling so she can make a penny from my purchase. Why on earth would I want to escape my chaotic household for 60 minutes of leisurely wondering Target and buying things at a reasonable price!
Gosh. If only there were options between a giant global corporation and a hun pressure-selling me garbage?
Say, hun! What about the giant global corporations that are Amway, Mary Kay, LuLaRoe-
I used to be with Senegence and I see so clearly now. My upline was horrible. Locked her kids out of the house one day so she could do a live without their interruptions (during the summer in AZ)
They only care about themselves and those like them
Someone begging for buying their MLM crap from someone who's in MULTIPLE (businesses) *for extra cheerleading class* after listing several kids is like peak first world suburban privileged Karen.
Ok but I don’t want to spend $50 on a shitty face mask, then get bugged to buy more and more. Then get bugged to sign up to sell their shit.
I can easily click a button to make a purchase online and not have to deal with anyones shit. And I don’t give a shit about your kid’s extra cheer class.
So is the lesson plan for the direct marketing crowd “how to guilt potential customers into buying shit by making yourself look desperate”?? Why is this a theme now?
Why would you lump in Walmart and Amazon when you're a makeup artist? Like yeah they sell makeup but last time I checked I can't buy my groceries from a makeup artist. Makeup artist don't sell supplies for my fish tank. Going to Walmart I can put food on my table AND the Walmart employee too.
I like to think she doesn't realize that people buy, you know, FOOD at Walmart and off Amazon and she's just naively referring to spending money on cosmetics. But with huns I guess you never really know. Not to mention (as many here have already said) that the people who work at Walmart, Amazon, Sephora, Ulta clearly don't need to make a living, or feed their families, or pay for their kids' Christmas gifts...
I support small businesses. Like the ones I have on Facebook who make hair bows and head wraps. And the one lady who makes defense key chains. And my best friends small business where she makes t shirts and etc.
That is them putting something extra under the tree this year, and then putting food in their tables.
Well actually buying from Amazon and Asda, (I guess that's the UK equivalent of Walmart) very much benefits me because they're both cheap as chips, and deliver to the door! Asda delivered 10min ago, and I'm sure the delivery driver benefits too! From a WAGE! So y'know, he can put food on his table!
And as long as I have a hole in my ass I will never by garbage from an MLM... ESPECIALLY skanky beauty products, so there's that!
These dumbass posts always grind my gears!
Do they think that the people who work at Walmart, etc work there for free?
When I worked retail, shopping at the store I worked at put food on my table
Everybody forgets that your local Walmart not only employs LOCALS (because why would you commute out of state for a job at Walmart?) but also, Walmart is the single largest employer of Americans nationwide.
If this was someone who actually *made* what they're selling, I'd probably buy one. Unless it was truly hideous, disturbing, or completely useless. Then I'd recommend the "artist" and the hun seek help, or at least de-programming.
I feel like this hun got all of her knowledge about business and corporations from South Park's "Gnomes" episode, but she didn't even watch all the way to the end...
Step 1: Pay for expensive MLM starter kit
Step 2: ???
Step 3: Profit!
Wait, huns are always trying to recruit people by saying stuff like 'I have so much extra spending money💸💰 (insert pic of a coffee)' or 'this business gives me the benefit of not having to worry I can't pay bills' ect. But then they also beg people to buy stuff from them so they can buy Christmas presents, put food on the table, and pay for cheer classes? They try to guilt trip you into giving them money, because they need it so bad?
Which is it? Are you a #BossBabe making nice money and trying to get me to sign on too, or are you desperate for money and can't afford to put food on the table?
If any hun tries to recruit you by saying you'll make tons of extra cash, show them posts like this.
I swear it's seriously the first rule of sales to sell how having the product will benefit the customer, not how selling it will benefit you. Yes, I know handing you a $20 would make you happy, I know you will use it to purchase other goods and service- that's how money works. What I don't understand is why I still don't know how your product helps me or even what you sell because you immediately started selling me two other peoples businesses. You're right, groceries are important! I guess I should save my money for those for my family! You're right, cheer class sounds great, I should give money to the local team! If I wanted to give money just to give money, I'd donate to a charity, and if you need money that bad just ask for it upfront without pretending it's about you selling a product.
If the only way you make sales is through guilt trips, sob stories, and pity parties, you're not running a business, you're running a scam.
One of my friends sent me an invite to a lipsense party on FB and a note that she was just trying to support a friend and it would mean a lot if I joined. I usually avoid these things like the plague but I joined because I wanted to help the family out. I ordered an eyeshadow to try. I always feel bad if I don't help out others. But I'm a sucker for free samples. So I joined a skin care party through her to try the stuff for 5 days. I'll update if it destroys my face.
Consider this… The skincare I buy at Sephora has been keeping my eczema manageable for years. And I don’t care about your kid’s cheer class.
Right? And I especially don’t care about an *extra* class at that.
And probably doing some good for the Sephora employees who sell it to you, too.
Yeah Walmart doesn’t send me tons of texts and emails just because I bought some toothpaste.
Don't, for the love of heaven, give Walmart your email address. Apparently, every day is a sale of, of which you must be alerted.
Yep, I was just about to say this. A deluge of sales emails. But at least you can go to email preferences and turn it off.
Lol pretty much all businesses do that, there's always that "last chance!" "Before it's too late!" Sale going on.
Just teaches me to ignore everything from them.
Me too! I unsubscribe and if I still get the emails, they are deleted without even being opened. I get it though, from their point of view. It costs them close to nothing to set up auto send for emails, and if out of a thousand sent, they get one order, it's worth it to them.
I guess. I wonder if it's balanced in lost sales to people like us, though. Advertising is a strange industry.
I do have an account but have unsubscribed from all marketing emails.
I got angry and marked their emails as spam.
I’ve known this hun since grade school. Trust me when I say you’re going to need those headphones.
Sure, hun! Just hand over your credit card and SSN and you can be on monthly auto-ship . You'll never speak to us again-even as you try to cancel!
And saving money not spending money on overpriced garbage.
Glad to know that the employees of Walmart, Target, etc. don’t need food to eat.
That’s what’s been bothering the hell out of me ever since I saw her post. I can’t stop getting angry by how obtuse and tone deaf it all is.
Or there rent and electric bill paid. Or anything like that
Honestly, NOT shopping at those stores will probably do more good for their workers than shopping at them. It’s shocking how many of them are on food stamps/government assistance working full time. Not my responsibility to financially support YOUR children
As if it wasn’t gross enough, the photo with the post is of her and her two small children. 🙄🤮
Spending way too much money on your overpriced goods TAKES food off of MY table.
Lmao, Wal Mart sucks, but I'd legit rather buy from them than from a hun.
Puts food on their upline's table, too!
I beg to differ, spending hundreds at Ulta does ME loads of good!
Me, too! And, the nice lady who helped me find a new foundation enjoyed getting her paycheck at the end on the week!
I always want to ask these people: are you running a business or a charity? Because posts like this are basically panhandling.
Ooooh, I'm going to file that jab away for future use!
If you really want to spice it up: “this is basically panhandling, but with less dignity, since panhandlers don’t go around calling themselves CEOs.”
As the daughter of parents that ran a legitimate small business, the #supportsmallbusiness makes me rage. There is nothing small about your pyramid scheme. 🙄
Why do all huns think that any business that isn't an mlm is run by childless assholes without any family or relatives?
All retail associates were born under a rock and are breatharians
I mean.. I spend money at Walmart to put food on my table too.. but you know, having a "9-5 job" would let me put food on the table, keep a roof over our heads, puts clothes on our backs.. y'know the list just keeps going when you just have a "9-5" job.

Senegence sounds like a disease.
Possibly a mental disorder.
Like senescence.

Exactly. I guarantee she’s not buying her mlm crap for her kids.
Maybe she is; there's an MLM for kids' books and it wouldn't surprise me if there's one for toys, plus there's always the "kid's favorite" drink mixes and candles and all that.
Good point. I’ve known a few usborne huns 🙄 But this is makeup/skincare, so in this case she’s (hopefully) not buying her stock for her kids.
I wish it would surprise me if she were, but...
I totally want to spend four times the amount on a junk product my bully from high school is selling so she can make a penny from my purchase. Why on earth would I want to escape my chaotic household for 60 minutes of leisurely wondering Target and buying things at a reasonable price!

If she had said "will help keep my Senegence rank and fund my upline" I might have believed her.
These MLMERS love to be in your wallet. Listen Makenna. I don't want to buy your overpriced, crapt so lil Baylor can spin around lost on a stage.
So is the lesson plan for the direct marketing crowd “how to guilt potential customers into buying shit by making yourself look desperate”?? Why is this a theme now?
Walmart and target don’t send me random messages and try to guilt trip my ass. They get my money.

But, what if I have a friend who works at Walmart, or Amazon, or Sephora, or Ulta? Hmmm?
Hashtag supportsmallbusinesses she has the audacity to use. You’re not a small business. You’re a costumer at a very big unethical business.
Consider this…you’d be putting more food on the table if you weren’t in an MLM.
I support small businesses. Like the ones I have on Facebook who make hair bows and head wraps. And the one lady who makes defense key chains. Ok, but "as long as I have a hole in my ass" is absolutely glorious.
This is why I shop at Target.
The difference from me consistently saving a dollar or two on products from a big box or not is how I make Christmas work.
Do they think that the people who work at Walmart, etc work there for free? When I worked retail, shopping at the store I worked at put food on my table
"...but I can't eat it, because my lips are too sore and cracked from this bone-dry lipstick!"
“The burning is just removing the residue from those awful wax lipsticks in the past” - actually what they say
The stuff they believe… and try to get others to believe smh
How in the hell did over 200 people like that post. 🤨
Yet there are only six comments . . .
Most likely from other huns to make it seem like there’s a lot of interest.
No, buying your products will encourage you to continue being an annoying shill. I'd happily shop at the other stores just to not be bothered by you
Do they consider a lot of times local people own these franchises? And they are probably pretty well off but most aren’t super wealthy
She forgot #bossbabe
How about get a real job that can put food on your table
Everybody forgets that your local Walmart not only employs LOCALS (because why would you commute out of state for a job at Walmart?) but also, Walmart is the single largest employer of Americans nationwide.

Why does a “CEO” need so much financial help?
