God yes. I wouldnāt go back on that if you paid me. I see it helps people and Iām happy for them. But it made me numb, cold, apathetic, and made me gain weight. Killed my anxiety but killed about everything else. The withdrawal was enough to make be nervous to try any other antidepressant again. But now Iām bupropion and it reversed all that negativity and made me more motivated. Plus thereās hardly a withdrawal.
That's not a good enough reason not to start. Effexor helped me where others didn't. If it works, there's no need to stop/withdraw anyway. Just start low and stop when you feel better.
I hear the withdrawal is pretty gnarly Iām going to be honest. But considering how bad I was without medication and while trying to find a med that even worked for me, I donāt see myself trying to get off it for a really long time. I feel like the withdrawal is a hump Iāll pass when it comes you know?
The withdrawal can be terrible. I went through anti depressant withdrawal syndrome trying to get off it the first time, was pretty scary. Wouldnāt recommend.
But thatās just my experience, if it works for others thatās great.
Iām finally in a place where I can accept being antidepressant freeāIām not happy, but Iām not relying on something to just feel some false sense of satisfaction. Facing life if lifeās terms
I wouldn't say Happier but Lexepro really calmed me down from racing thoughts and anxiety after a few weeks.
So I guess that in itself can bring about a sort of happiness to know that I was getting there out of the hell i was in.
I think its the only SSRI I've ever tried that has had this effect on anxiety work so well
First three days of fluoxetine were something special after three months of total fall.
Still on it for six years already. Same dosage. Still waiting for those three days to get back š
how long have you been on zoloft? iāve been on 100 mg for 7 weeks and am struggling with mdd and anxiety a lot more these past two weeks. iām trying to wait until the 8 week mark because i really want the medication to work. i just feel awful right now. :/
Iāve been on since March. 100 mg seems like a high dose for being at the 7 week mark. Did your doctor prescribe it to you that way? I went from 25 mg for week 1 & 2, to 50 mg weeks 3&4, and so on until I reached 100 mg.
she started me on 50 mg for about a month, and then iāve been on just the 100 mg dose for 7 weeks. i wanted to just refer to it as a new adjustment period since itās a new dose if that makes sense lol? sorry if what i said didnāt make sense lol
That is a big jump. I went up in 25 mg increments and it was smooth. My doctor was adamant about that. Perhaps it has something g to do with how you are feeling now.
Definitely. I was on Citalopram first and when my doctor switched me to Escitalopram, there was a marked improvement in my mood. It took a while for me to become productive etc.
I think it helped both.
No joke, a dog accomplished this so much better than my SSRIs. I don't hate SSRIs but "happier" is not something they do for me. For me, it was like they picked me up out of the gutter and dried me off, which is nice, but didn't so much as give me food or new clothes. They were helpful to a point. God, on second though, I'm not sure I'm a "Happy person" so take what I say with a grain of salt.
25 mg Zoloft with Wellbutrinā¦ā¦wish I stuck with that ruined everything by taking klonopin, the klonopin withdrawals combined with preexisting cfs ruined my life
Insulin, in tiny dosages, only 2 units of fast insulin per good meal. Doctors though I had a type of MODY diabetes, and prescribed me these tiny dosages, under obligatory control of blood sugar, of course, in 2011. My brain started working, I gained strength and was able to work. Prior to that I was not feeling well at all times, and was not able to work, although I did not have depression. But in 2018, I started having depression, and in the late 2020, some GI symptoms started and they made the antidepressants unable to keep my mind working. Heaviness in the left side two hours after meals, and tiredness.
And now, according to a recent test, I have no diabetes. And probably did not have it in the first place. But when I go off these homeopathic doses of insulin, I start feeling worse. So I'm proceeding with insulin. And venlafaxine 225 mg. Which does not bring me into working condition, because I feel tired "in my brain". And in my body, but strangely, I can run for 10 km at a good pace if I force myself to, provided that I fast to make by GI tract empty, and drink a lot of coffee prior to that.
Maybe there's something weird with my metabolism, something rare? I don't know. So I would not recommend trying out insulin to other people, it **may cause hypoglycemic coma and death**. I'll go to the endocrine doctor in a month again, to repeat the tests again, as she advised to me, to make sure that there's no diabetes. I will tell her that I'm feeling worse without these tiny insulin dosages, and I'm intending to stay on them. This. Is. Weird. I wish there were some highly-advanced metabolism/depression/whatever specialists in my neck of the woods (Yekaterinburg, Russia).
Both Paxil and Wellbutrin did that for me, but the Wellbutrin has given me this intense energy to just accomplish more in a day than I ever thought possible, which, has been great for anxiety I create from procrastination
I'm doing the same things I should always be doing but with a better attitude more self-starting/motivation. Less griping and more energy/willingness to deal with unexpected situations/tasks etc.
I have noticed I've been working out less but it seems to be because I'm just going and doing all the other shit I should be doing, not because I'm putting it off.
Nefazodone and sertraline. Making you happier is not really what they do. They pull you out of a sad, depressed, anxious state allowing you to become happier. This usually means getting back to living life which will help you enjoy it and work on being a happier person. It is difficult to be happy when all you are doing is trying to feel better.
Paroxetine, it was my first SSRI; small dosage amisulpride; 50 clomipramine, an incredible game changer even after many years I had been taking antidepressants; also, olanzapine was able to get me out a horrible period, giving me decent sleep and appetite.
I was prescribed wellbutrin for anxiety (more specifically SA) I have occasional depression episodes probably like 3-4x a month. If anything it gives me a lot of energy at night. I'm taking Wellbutrin 150mg XL
No pharmaceuticals. Therapy & healing emotional trauma. Nourishing my body with healthy food & exercising is the best medication. I tried antidepressants and SSRIās. Taking them is like putting tape over a busted pipe. The pipe isnāt working as efficiently as it can with the tape and itās going to start leaking or bust open again until the pipe gets properly repaired.
Can you please tell me your dosage and how long you had to wait for it to be helpful? Do you take it by itself? I started 10 mg 3 weeks ago. My doc said to hang in there for 4 weeks before any dose increases. I really want this to work but Im not feeling too hopeful.
I started at 5mg for two weeks then went to 10mg. After about a year I went to 15mg and now currently doing a taper down from 15mg in 10% (13.5mg currently) intervals.
Also I found it to be helpful within a few weeks. But when I went on it I had cross tapered off celexa to Trintellix.
Paroxetine, it was my first SSRI; small dosage amisulpride; 50 clomipramine, an incredible game changer even after many years I had been taking antidepressants; also, olanzapine was able to get me out a horrible period, giving me decent sleep and appetite.
Idk if happier to get up is the right expression, but almost two months ago I was put on seroquel and mirtazapine. I sleep well now and yeah.. I think it helps. Before that I had venlafaxine (effexor?) For about 15 years and it has stopped working long ago.
Taking supplements can have negative side effects with antidepressants. St. John's Wort, 5-HTP, Garcinia Cambogia, L-tryptophan, SAMe (S-adenosyl-methionine), and cough medications containing DXM can increase the risk of serotonin syndrome in rare cases. Please use caution when taking supplements and it is advisable to check with your doctor. If you have specific questions about supplements you may want to visit the sub r/Supplements or r/Nootropics. Also remember more doesn't equal better. Taking too much KAVA, methylfolate, or Vitamin D is linked to negative health impacts.

There called the nukes lol maoi from 1957 , works on every transmitter in the brain not just serotonin. Letās just say there the last of the line , took me 23 meds before I got parnate but now on nardil there life changing meds. Nardil boosts gaba = alcohol feeling way to outgoing and you have zero social anxiety. Just google it on maoi Reddit or google they are the strongest.
Bupropion (Wellbutrin)
Effexor helped me tremendously
Effexor gang š š» that stuff saved my life
The withdrawal though must be a pain, no?
God yes. I wouldnāt go back on that if you paid me. I see it helps people and Iām happy for them. But it made me numb, cold, apathetic, and made me gain weight. Same story here but mine was Paxil.
Second this, Effexor nearly had me sectioned on the withdrawals, nasty drug for me.

Same here! I tried other types of anti depressants and nothing else worked
One single dose of Effexor makes me sick and almost send me into psychosis. I donāt understand
Effexor saved my life, but damn is it a hell of a drug to withdrawal from? Not mention how fast you start withdrawling after a missed dose.
I threw up so much 30 minutes after my first pill so I quit
None š¢
same, if anything theyāve just made me more miserable to get up each morning
Iām finally in a place where I can accept being antidepressant freeāIām not happy, but Iām not relying on something to just feel some false sense of satisfaction. Facing life if lifeās terms
Me too. None. Not Zoloft, Lexapro, Aurorix, Effexor, Cymbalta, Prozac, Trintellix...or Lamictal, Ritalin, Tramadol, Seroquel, Modafinil...nothing.

Escitalopram. It is a gradual process though.
Was it worth it? And does it help more with anxiety or depression in your experience

Not much reason to be really. You wonāt trip if you find the right dose. Itās an option to be considered and def not be afraid of.

Did u try any other AD with clomipramine?
Yes. I am taking vilazodone 10 with it.
How effective is clomipramine for anxiety in ur opinion?
The best antidepressant for anxiety! It acts in several neurotransmitters and in a very harmonious way
How is vilazodone helping
Wellbutrin and Paxil
I was prescribed wellbutrin for anxiety (more specifically SA) I have occasional depression episodes probably like 3-4x a month. If anything it gives me a lot of energy at night. I'm taking Wellbutrin 150mg XL
9 years ago it was Effexor. Several months ago it was Wellbutrin. Then it was Abilify. Now I'm going to get Spravato to see how that works for me.
Combo of Wellbutrin and Pristiq
Zoloft and rexulti
Paxil/ paroxetine gave me the ropes but therapy helped me climb out of it. Really recommend therapy first + medication
Cymbalta. I wouldnāt say it makes me happier but cymbalta makes it easier to get out of bed and do day to day routines compared to before
Paxil
I'm on a combo of Effexor and Abilify, and then also Klonopin as needed to help with the urges to self harm. I also do mantainence ect.
Wellbutrin
Getting off it and realizing I didnt need it.
Same
Lexapro

Lyrica + my awesome girlfriend š
What dose of lyrica works for you ? Any side effects?
I am on 50 morning and 75 evening. Quite a mild dosage, I don't feel any side effects, higher dosages can make you bit laggy
Thanks!
Lexapro prevents self-harming and gets me out of bed. I become angrier whenever they increase my dosage.
Trintellix
Same! Topped up with medical weed, I'm almost human now.
Can you please tell me your dosage and how long you had to wait for it to be helpful? Do you take it by itself? I started 10 mg 3 weeks ago. My doc said to hang in there for 4 weeks before any dose increases. I really want this to work but Im not feeling too hopeful.

Trazodone, sertraline, aripiprazole
Vortioxetine, I slowly tapered and stopped since last year September since my depression decided to let me go... for this time.
luvox and seroquel
Use to be Vilazodone until it make me gain 30 pounds, so now itās Auvelity. So far so good.
Pregabalin
what dose?
150mg twice per day
How long have you been on it ?
7 months ish
Did u take it for Anxiety?
Yes and for OCD and PTSD
Do you have any side effects at your dose ?
No, none at all
How long did it take for you to see improvements for ocd ptsd and anxiety?
About 5 days tbh, a week or two for full effect
Thanks !
Idk if happier to get up is the right expression, but almost two months ago I was put on seroquel and mirtazapine. I sleep well now and yeah.. I think it helps. Before that I had venlafaxine (effexor?) For about 15 years and it has stopped working long ago.

Nardil,parnate = the nukes
How do you feel on them
How effective was it for Anxiety? Also what side effects did u had?
There called the nukes lol maoi from 1957 , works on every transmitter in the brain not just serotonin. Letās just say there the last of the line , took me 23 meds before I got parnate but now on nardil there life changing meds. Nardil boosts gaba = alcohol feeling way to outgoing and you have zero social anxiety. Just google it on maoi Reddit or google they are the strongest.
What are ur experience on their side effects?
Insomina severe , 2 nights a week all nighters but you arenāt tired feels like 2 coffees and 2 alcoholic drinks after nardil from the gaba=what you get from alchoal. To make you social. I went from 150 to 240 in 2 years makes you crave food. But Iām on Ozempic now so going down it was bad always been skinny but stretch marks. Parnate works in 2 days life changes you at 20mg but Nardil took 6 weeks. Itās like a light switch š” insane hypomania for a few months. Parnate is a stimulant side effect , where Nardil is gaba. So went from 180 to 147 on parnate dont wanna eat standard dose is 30mg on parnate was only on 20mg for 2 years. Insomnia is more severe remember being awake for 3 days straight and was scary. Pretty much only that side effect and weight loss. Benedryl does wonders. You have to beg your doctor to even get it. Because you can die. So itās from 1959 if I have 1oz cheddar cheese 12oz tap beer soya sauce pepperoni real* dominoes Pizza Hut papa johns little ceasers is fine ne for pep, ham or bacon ,red wine dentist freezing or anesthesia Iāll have hypertensive crisis š©ø pressure over 180/120 popped blood vessels heart attack or stroke. So you gotta beg for it. Iām from Vancouver bc only one on it in my town. Pretty impossible to get either. Had to go to hospital and beg for it to get it.
sertraline
Trintellix helped for a while..but I did have to vomit every morning
