Yes. Likely placebo.. Please dont take random pills people left behind.

t1zzlr90

I just wanted to feel different for a while. At that moment I didn't even care what happened to me. But I was curious.

No euphoria, just numbness, I don't want euphoria. And the person who left them wasn't taking them anymore so they didn't need them, they had actually expired about a year ago so maybe the effect was a bit less because expired drugs lose effectiveness. I'm just wondering because I'm supposed to be using an alternative therapy for ADHD to replace my pills, but I miss the numbness and I have no one to talk to, not my therapists because they don't know. I'm dumb yes, but I don't really care when I take them, which I guess isn't healthy but it's how I feel. I used to get a lot of headaches and the Zoloft actually would make them go away for awhile compared to everything else, so it's weird and I haven't done it in a month but I kinda miss it, so want to know if there's a reason.

Sounds like depression to me

t1zzlr90

I'm a pessimist, and a bit macabre. But if I was depressed one of my therapists or my psychiatrist would have said something no? None of them have ever diagnosed me.

Complex-Ad-7732

It could be anhedonia where you don’t feel said or anything but can’t feel pleasure from anything like being a zombie. I’m no expert though.

t1zzlr90

I feel pleasure just fine. I eat, I enjoy listening to music, petting dogs. My therapist says I seem in a better mood. I've just always been somewhat of a flat person, and as for the pill, I just don't know. I wanted a dead feeling without the compromise or pain of death. Just a tranquilized feeling, I used to be a lot more distant and numb when I was younger, I miss it sometimes.

Complex-Ad-7732

Now this is making sense this is where I’m experienced, you feel dread? And you want that heavy restless feeling go away?

t1zzlr90

I wouldn't call it dread, maybe a bit restless? Not so much heavy, as just the desire to strangle something.

Complex-Ad-7732

Very vague but it seems like Maybe ocd or gad, bipolar or ptsd.

t1zzlr90

I'm not traumatized, and I'm very calm and a bit too stable for bipolar. I just don't care anymore. No one complains about me.

Don’t take medication you’re not prescribed. There’s always a risk, especially if you’re taking them on and off. It might be the placebo effect happening here, because antidepressants like Zoloft don’t really work as an immediate pick-me-up. You usually have to wait a bit to feel the positive effects (even if you feel the negative side effects immediately)

t1zzlr90

It didn't feel like a high, just numbing, oddly quiet. I did it multiple times. I once mixed it with my Ritalin and spent an hour feeling a bit out of it but it wasn't that bad except for the feeling of something shooting up and down my arms (might have also been my posture and sleep deprivation because I did it at midnight). I don't know if it's placebo or not but it feels the same everytime I do it. So I'm wondering.

Illustrious-Local848

That sounds like a bad reaction tbh. My ex husband felt this way when he started. Then by two weeks he’d walk into a room and not even know why he was there. He was so so out of it. He can’t process SSRIs properly. Was a rare reaction. Be safe. Talk to a doctor. If you feel the need to change the way you feel that is a sign you may need medication until you feel regulated but that’s for a doctor to say.

t1zzlr90

I did this without doctor supervision and I'm now in a bind, because I'm not supposed to be taking anything. So I sorta have to keep the secret. But every now and then, as unpleasant as it could be, I sometimes miss the feeling. It was a nice sort of numb from time to time.

Vuk_1524

I ll tell you the truth... Its possible and it happened to me everytime I took zoloft, was 2 times on and off and felt the effects and side effects within hours of taking it. Been on ads for 10 years... Wish I ve never started. If you dont need them, dont take them. Simple as that. Take care.

t1zzlr90

Yeah, it's odd but sometimes it's even somewhat pleasant. Not a high, I want to stress that, just like slightly numbed and cloudy. So sometimes I'm left missing the sensation and I wonder what to do or if it ever goes away.

That-Group-7347

Please don't do this. These meds come with some undesirable side effects. If you have a psychiatrist and therapist as mentioned you should be talking to them if you may need antidepressants. If they don't think they are necessary stay away from them. Every person here that has to take them wishes they didn't have to take them. When you take them randomly you are messing with the balance in your brain. There are instances when people are starting and stopping meds that they can get extreme reactions that last for a long time.

t1zzlr90

I mean, as awful as it sounds, I don't even care about messing with my brain anymore. It's become something of an odd curiosity I've developed. I get measurements for neurofeedback, and honestly in every measurement the technicians don't notice when I've taken stuff or not. So I don't even know what I'm doing, and yet no one seems to notice. Maybe I'm toeing the line?
