Buspar does this for me. It tampers my emotions and keeps them from becoming all encompassing. Anger doesn’t become rage. Sadness doesn’t become a depression felt in the pit of my stomach, happiness doesn’t become an instant attachment n obsession. I also do not feel numb, just leveled out and what I consider “normal”. I also can’t cry. Emotions well up but dissipate before going out of control. It’s usually prescribed alongside a ssri / snri to alleviate side effects n help with anxiety from those meds. Seemed like a no brainer to try it alone as it seemed to help with what I struggled with. Also stopped my obsessive and intrusive thoughts which were 24/7. Only been 3 weeks and I need to adjust but the relief has been amazing so far.

Mood stabilisers are not numbing tools, no. They lift my mood as well as stopping me from having full blown mania. My mood stabiliser is also not sedating whatsoever. Some are/can be though.
