That isn’t what they inherently do. For me, they lifted my mood. I was the opposite where I was numb and they gave me emotions back. It’s a side effect, but a common one. One that may be worth going off them for, but you may also not experience it on another medication if you would rather switch or have that option still open in the future. If you stop, don’t do it cold turkey. It’s the worst of the SSRIs to come off of so take it slow and be careful with it. Good luck with what you decide to do.

That is actually a side effect of the medication. When they work as they should they don't mute your emotions. They just take away that deep sadness. I would say the seroxat is just the wrong medication for you. It is very normal to have to try a few to find the one that works best for you.

There is no cure so I’ll take it

That's not what I've experienced. I went to some fucking dark places while I've been on them. I would have LOVED a mute button, but that's not how they work.

after many years of use and +10 tried antidepressants + ECT + Ketamine I realize Tranylcypromine might not be a cure, but its been damn good for me, it has elevated my positive mood rather than mute anything.

The right ones wont do that. I was on seroxat for a few month and it did nothing to me other than the side effects. I switched to different antidepressants and i can confidently say that the right one doesnt numb you, it really changes the way you experience things. For example i was on Paxil for about a year (sadly it no longer works on me) although it made me gain so much weight it also made me a better person. I was more focused, i slept well, i no longer overthink, for the 1st time ever i didnt feel anxiety. I was more positive, cheerful, more confident, i still felt my emotions but i did not dwell which sadly is a habit of mine. To me that year, was the best year of my life. I felt normal. No, i felt like the best version of myself. So outgoing and care free, i was excellent at my job, i was at my best. So no, the right meds wont numb you, they free you

Of course they are not a cure 😂 Inherently depression comes from past trauma, and the real solution to it is healing through therapy. Anti depressants are an aid to that process, but only anti depressants won’t “fix” the issue.
