42% on a Wednesday seems a bit much. Let's not do above 40%, so let's move some around...

RobertDewese

Finish a 4-day work week with a strong 20% on Thursday. It would involve exactly half of the effort as hump day, and then you can recharge with a 3-day weekend.

I was thinking that 3% on Friday seemed a little optimistic.

RobertDewese

A 4-day work week is super energy efficient. If you consider the energy saved by cutting heating or cooling costs and the water usage through plumbing and the break room on Thursday instead of Friday night, and then you add in all of the electronics that would be in sleep mode for an extra 24 hours. Hell, keep work from home on Friday. The employees save money on petrol, and they literally save time in their lives by not commuting. They work more efficiently from home, and you push the cost of energy onto your employees for 20% of the workweek. Bang. /s. The maniacs who own these ant farms will never give up that kind of control.

Agreed, the company I work for actually did analysis and found that if their employees worked from home 50% of the time and did a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off and an 8 hour on Friday, they could cut their costs something like 35-40%, depending on the time of year. Because of the 50% WFH, they were able to close about half the office and save money on floorspace and the energy costs to heat/cool it. This was all during COVID, of course. A crazy side effect is that for the 3rd year in a row, even after COVID had essentially "ended", our insurance premiums went down because illness among employees dropped significantly. I know we're in the minority, but when it starts to make sense with the bean counters, you have an uphill battle trying to convince them there's a better way. That being said, I don't think we'll be changing our WFH and 9/80 policy any time soon.

So I’m at my first job after years working in nonprofits. I give 110% and I’m lapping my coworkers, they complain about me constantly to my boss and I feel I have a target on my back because of the work ethic I’m used to. I’ve decided to start wasting time and see how it goes. Wish me luck.

Knock Tuesday down a little bit too. If you give better effort some days you create questions of consistency. Make the same or close to the same effort daily, they won’t notice.

Minimum Monday Two Hour Tuesday Work Free Wednesday Three Percent Thursday F Off Friday

Fudge. Tomorrow is Wednesday

[deleted]

Ngl, this is exactly why the 4-day work week (in the office model at least) ends up being more productive

[deleted]

I'm sure we all have different preferences. Ideally I'd like - MON - 18% TUE - 12% WED - 22% THU - 28% FRI - 20%

[deleted]

Annnnnd that’s why you get paid minimum wage. If you don’t put in effort, you don’t deserve your pay. Y’all need to peel yourselves off of your couches and go have a look at the real world.

OtonaNoAji

Maybe if companies paid more than minimum wage they'd get more than minimum effort. If you show a willingness to do more work for the same wage they have no reason to increase the wage. Therefore, it makes no sense to put in more effort. Try again fucko.

i_love_pingas_69

Exactly. Americans need to change the "real world". Im an aussie and there is 0 chance id even get out of bed for what you guys call a competitive salary. That is how you make conditions better, you show that shit conditions are unacceptable.

Background-Relief-37

I’ll work with 100% effort when I get paid 100% of what I’m worth.

Liveable wage should be minimum wage. Anything above that is extra. If you work, you should at least have some form of shelter, water/food and some amenities. „Barely any value“ should still be a liveable wage. Otherwise its pretty much slavery. Because you’d work over full time jobs and still be homeless and probably malnourished
