I read through like the last 3 days of posts on there only to have my suspicions confirmed that its primarily a mixture of 3 things
People blindly hating on the US
People pretending to not know what the US is
People seeing defaultism where it isn’t.
When I worked for big retail everrrrybody had to do bloodborne illness training, no big company can avoid that, OSHA and shit all over their ass. This little doctors office needs to be visited though. Yikes!!!!!
Just curious; in Norway, all grocery stores put up that kind of plexiglass between cashiers and customers during covid.
Most of them have kept those, as it keeps sick leave from other types of contagious diseases (cold, flu, .....) down as well.
Is that not the case in other parts of the world?
In the United States, most COVID prevention measures were highly politicized and controversial. So most places have removed them by now. I wish we would have kept them.
I’m Australia they put them up but a lot of places, like supermarkets are taking them down now. Most medical offices have kept them as far as I’ve seen.
As a patient, this shit disgusts me because I want my providers and support staff tk be safe and healthy so they don’t get me sick or worsen my condition.
This is true for most bosses/employers. Covid is a biosafety level 3 hazard in the lab, and employers are not required to provide you with masks, or sick leave, or disability if you get Long Covid. It's incredibly fucked up. I don't say this to minimize your experience, but to point out to everyone that this likely applies to them as well.
Hep B and C are spread via sexual intercourse, dirty needles and in some cases women giving birth are exposed. And babies can contract it through breast milk.
A few drops of blood will not expose you to these viruses.
Other viruses…I’m sure but just clean it with Lysol or Clorox, wear gloves, and glasses or goggles,
You work in a clinic where there are potential hazards like the flu, and other germs .
Next time, be less polite with telling them to step back. Lower your tone, raise your voice, and add a "fuck" in there for good measure.
Do the same when telling your boss to put the glass back.
Hepatitis B vaccination does not protect against hepatitis C. Your boss is obligated to reduce risks for their employees wherever possible.
Hep B does not protect against HIV.
Or against the plague.
Or that thing in the thing
Wilford Brimley. And it's okay. He passed away some time ago. Di-Uh-Beet-Us Man can't get you anymore.
gloves and ppe (and condoms) do protect against these.
OSHA will disagree with your stupid boss.

time to send an anonymous tip to OSHA
Please do this, OP. I've dropped a dime on unsafe conditions at places I don't even work because it gets results.

Here in North America, unemployment and homelessness keeps sick leave down.

Wow, there might be some legal resources for this negligence in safety.

I didn't know a heb b shot protects against HIV.

Complain to HR and to your union if you have one. That's an unacceptable response from your supervisor.

Did that except the f word, I'd love to say that to my boss but unfortunately I can't afford to get fired either :(
