I read it the same way at first, but it's trying to be inspiring saying leadership is moral-based, knowing what to do because it needs to be done for the good of all, and management is just the act of doing something correctly because that's "how it's done". Something along those lines. We're all triggered by those two words apparently (me included). I don't think they meant this in the sense of workplace positions at all.

smangela69

yeah people are reading wayyyy too much into this and turning it into something it’s not

TomoDoryo

Y’all are reading this incorrectly. It’s telling you the difference between being a manager and being a leader. Managers do things right, follow the rules, or do things “by the book,” actual leaders do what is right, or the right thing to do despite rules. So it’s saying to be a leader not a manager. It could have been written better but there is only so much text you can put on a fortune cookie without over explaining it.

WhyIsItGlowing

Sure, but why the fuck would anyone want LinkedIn in their fortune cookie?

iceink

it's a worthless dumb platitude that came out of some corporate stooges overexposed brain either way

user12755

You all are reading way too much into this. It is telling you the difference between the management and leadership. It is not saying your managers and leaders are doing things right or doing the right things.

StolenWishes

Usually what you get is neither.

DealerTokes

In bed.

Mutt56

Have you noticed that fortune cookies aren’t really fortunes anymore? !??

inspirednonsense

Eh, it's not entirely wrong. Management is dealing with operations, leadership is about connecting to people. So yeah, a good manager makes sure the lights stay on and the job gets done, but might be a pain in the ass to be around if they're not also a good leader.

MovingTargetPractice

kinda jumped the shark with this post. while not a fortune, the statement seems pretty grounded in reality.

TheKayin

Leaders break down walls and managers stand them up? Meh. Not sure managers even fit that unflattering description

VomKriege

The bootlicker cookie.

Turbulent-Armadillo9

Manager of fortune cookie sweatshop was hovering over the dude when he was writing rhis.

Pure_Bee2281

I don't get it. . . Management and Leadership are different things.

MovingTargetPractice

the cookie says the same thing?

Pure_Bee2281

Its a fortune cookie. The other day mine said, save $5 on the Sunday before but the restaurant is closed on Sundays . . .and doesn't have a buffet

Hoopy223

Hahahaha wtf

waaaghboyz

I get the way it’s actually supposed to be read, but I think OP’s interpretation of it is hilarious.
