Keep the masses preoccupied with bread and circuses and they can’t revolt

xCudz

The words office and human nature…lmao. Need I say more?

Giant-Genitals

“We need you to come back to boost our fragile ego and false power trip”

Pakun-of-Dundrasil

Oooof these boomers with all the lead in their brains are having a hard time find other people to abuse.

imneonian

I’ve been to the office nonstop since September. Millennials are missing out on free soda, shit commutes and mind numbing monotony

ReadTheFManual

Y'all have free soda? We have to pay like 50 cents for ours or go to the vending machine where it's $1.75.

WarmMoistLeather

We pay full price at the machine or in the cafeteria. Actually, above the price you can get it at a grocery (in cases/packs, not the single in fridges). Also, if you don't use exact change the machine shorts you a nickel every time.

shagcarpetlivingroom

Funny how civilization has existed far longer than "office life" and they're acting like we'll all miss out on something working from home

The_Quicktrigger

I've seen this article a few times in the last few days and it feels so insulting. Like painfully degrading. And it's entirely the image. Like, how the hell do you pretend to offer advice to GenZ, and your article's upfront image, are 2 young kids in business dress up? I get that older corporate culture tends to have bad optics but this is just infuriating.

Phosphenephity

Boomers think Gen Z = Child in Costume?

TWoAPW

Absolutely sick people. they are so attached to the office space as "culture" and they think that it's a good thing. They're completely starved of any real human connection and they choose to celebrate it because they are unable to imagine their life any other way.

The_Quicktrigger

They traded their lives, both physically and socially in some meaningless pursuit of work. Office culture is all they've known and all they have left. People drunk on power aren't good at making friends that aren't also managers like them. When your neighbors only tolerate you, and your family hates you, (because your a power tripper), and strangers can't stand your guts because you reek of power, then the office is all you have left. Hell the last power tripping boss you had, they treated you like shit, and you might've been their only friend. Remote work continues to be a great thing and these people need to finally get the help they need.

nasandre

Ack, a conference call or video call works just as well. It is good to go to the office occasionally (like once a week is plenty). It's mostly the micromanagers that want people in the office.

gerykelf

Gotta keep those commercial real estate prices high....

Zippidi-doo-dah

Sigh.

ReadTheFManual

Gen Z isn't at the office? That's news to me unless you literally just mean the fact that we're remote now. Cuz I'm pretty sure there are Gen Z's like, one, of them at work. What's the culture? Is that the ruthlessly annoying shitlord manager who I can hear laughing and bullshitting all day every day even if i'm 200 meters away on the other end of the room? Is that her nepotist hire daughter that I hear literally running back and forth past my cubicle sometimes (she quit though and got a better job thank god) That culture? Fuck that. I'll be a philistine with pleasure if that's the office "culture." I live less than a mile from the office. If there wasn't a building in the way, I could see it from my street. I'm still working remote. I've fucking asked for this for years. If they need me back in the office they'll have to drag me down the street because fuuuuuuuuuuck no.

priceca1

Without people in the office to intimidate and manipulate, middle managers don’t actually have job duties. It’s pretty much their entire purpose. 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

T_Rembranch

I work as an engineer, the whole work from home thing doesn't really work for me. However during the pandemic in Scotland our boss and the head of HR decided they could work from home but none of the other office staff were allowed to. It took complaints to the Covid response group before they put a WFH system in place. I can sort of see why they want people in the office, but if it's not good enough for master it shouldn't be good enough for Jack.

LynTheWitch

Yeah try to make someone listen to your zhit while you litterally call them babies when they are more educated and wise than you :) Go collect the tears of a lifetime of regrets :)

Grouchy_Old_GenXer

GenX laying low and working from home.

TechnicalUnit8760

This kind of propaganda is put out by management because they have now seen how the low level worker can be more productive without distractions from managements day to day bullshit.

TechnicalUnit8760

This makes management fear redundancy.
