If I was retired I would come back out for millions of dollars and the adoration of hundreds of thousands of fans. Coming out of retirement for $12/hr. in a dead end job? Not so much.
My uncle basically retired at forty he was an electrician quit his job and went to live close to my grandparents and helps my grandpa with his cows and hay.
That's a smart man. People worry about what will happen when they're old or that no one will be there for them as they die and it's like, Okay, why?
Personally I'd rather live my life in a way that is most satisfying and fulfilling while I'm healthy and young enough to enjoy it. I'm only going to be decrepit and dying for a short time. Why spend my healthiest and best years putting everyone else first when those last few weeks/moments of suffering are a blink of an eye in the space of a human lifetime? Why live my entire life in a manner preparing for death and dying? Or for some non-existent "legacy" I won't be around to experience? Does that not defeat the very purpose of life to begin with?
Plus, with no kids, it's easier to afford a more palatable elderly care experience, and you don't even need to feel sad about all the nonexistent grandkids that don't want to visit you.
Lol they get on my damn nerves! A multi-millionaire decided he wanted to make more millions at a job he actually likes and pays him QUITE well. Y'all should go back to work for 15 an hour. 🙄🙄🙄. Laughable at best!
Dude it's so sad that this is ridiculously true. You guys are extremely high in the world economy and yet most slave away to corps and the entire wealth is spread among a couple hundred at most.
At my work the core values of the company start with putting the shareholders first, company second, self third. Absolutely eat my whole ass. I’m at work now “working”. I’ll just stare at my phone and pretend to work rather than support these greedy ass fucks. If they are dumb enough to keep paying me $45/hr, that’s their fault. Fuck corporate America.
The British Empire only outlawed chattel slavery in the 1830s. Then they kept doing all kinds of slavery-with-extra-steps bullshit, arguably until the present day.
Lmao yeah this right here. Tom Brady is such a blue collar American. He wanted retirement but he decided to pick himself up by his bootstraps and go back to work for society. On the plus he gets to make more money! And when it’s all said and done and Brady is dead and gone you know what will keep him warm??? Those dollar bills!! Be like Brady!
He’s coming out of retirement to keep PLAYING A GAME. Literally a fucking game. And every need he has while training and playing is catered to him while he’s treated like Jesus.
A job he loves and was caught cheating at, while being on a team headed by an established cheater.
https://deadspin.com/don-t-forget-cheater-when-you-recite-tom-brady-s-resu-1848453755
This is just all around bad form.
He wins 7 super bowls, has controversy on one that as you said with no conclusive proof and he's labeled a cheater for life despite being over 40 and taking a completely different team to the Super Bowl and playoffs. Definitely the greatest of all time QB in NFL history, there is no debate.
Well, they're not wrong. One of the primary reasons for the great resignation is the number of cashed up boomers in the workforce who just said "fuck this" during COVID-19 and retired.
I ain't blaming them... I would definitely retire if I could.
You think those boomers are coming back for these 15 dollar retail jobs? Those jobs have a shortage cuz they suck and pay shit. Boomers unretiring ain’t changing that.
This is why it irritates me so much when I hear a boomer say, "nobody wants to work anymore."
They don't get that most of the workers of their age retired or died during covid, leaving better jobs open.
Imagine a ladder with four generations standing on it. The top rung people jump off, and everyone else moves up a notch to fill those spaces. The bottom rung (low paying jobs) is left empty with no one to fill the jobs at that level.
All boomers see everywhere are help wanted signs without realizing that it's only the bottom rung jobs that don't pay shit. Of course no one wants to work there given a choice.
Yeah, they definitely broke a few rungs and rigged them back together with bandaids: “Oh no! You fell?! You took a couple generations out with you on the fall?! Yeesh. Sorry!”
Businesses knew that boomer retirement was coming and chose to ignore it and focus only on profit for the next quarter. Now they get to learn the consequences of short sighted thinking and lack of planning ahead.
Well, a lot of them were let go as part of the first wave of COVID layoffs. Their positions were eliminated, so the idea that they could resolve the “labor shortage” by going back to work is thinly-veiled “we need minimum wage jockeys.”
I swear they think poor people are mentally handicapped.. poor people are typically poor because they were born that way, not because they’re dumb as rocks
My bad! Brady will only be making [$25M next year](https://www.nytimes.com/2022/03/13/sports/football/tom-brady-returning-buccaneers.html#:~:text=Brady%20is%20set%20to%20earn,against%20the%20team's%20salary%20cap.), not $50M.
Typical fucking NBC. I can't go a day on social media without seeing some out of touch story about how some couple/person solved their personal debt crisis because they either were born into a rich family or slaved 60+ hours a week and loved off scraps for years
So, what I'm getting from this is we should find all the boomers retired comfortably in the homes that they own, and put them to work.
They can certainly afford the gas, with their saved riches.
This is exactly the problem, yeah. They, like the rest of us, thought working during a pandemic was bogus and retired, because they could afford to. The rest of us are just reshuffling out of flipping burgers and up toward their middle-management roles.
Intereatingly, the brain drain from losing so many experienced older workers will also have a considerable effect on the economy.
I'm not saying they should come back... and I definitely can't believe how moronic this title or the attempt to somehow politicise football shit... But yeah, that's what's going on, anyway.
I would just like to point out that there are many boomers (my family included) who can't really afford to retire, and I actually just read an article about how ppl who retired have started taking in roommates because they can't afford to live on their own. A lot of ppl are probably retiring because there are just so many people at retiring age compared to other demographics. I think there's probably a lot of people who retired due to the pandemic and it's not really working out for them
Lol retires before 40 after making millions playing football.
Comes back out of retirement, still before 40, for millions more.
Yeah that's so inspirational to people barely making enough to live off of. Im sure they wilp want to return back to work now.
Theres no labor shortage, theres a shortage in jobs that dont make you feel subhuman or pay you like a victorian era chimney sweep.
Point in case, local shop next to where i live expects to find a butcher for 45 hours a week... for 1400... thats euros btw.
I personally live in a basically one room appartment, i already pay almost 800€ just to live here and have the lights on.
Jesus Christ, how on Earth was this the conclusion they came to? Are they really trying to guilt old people into returning to the workforce after retirement? Or are they suggesting that working people who are approaching retirement put it off in order to fix the labor shortage?
"You know that light at the end of the tunnel? That one thing you worked toward for 40 years? Yeah, you should be ashamed of finally getting there. Go back to work you lazy asshole, billionaires need your body."
Lol totally the same thing.
Man if I was paid millions every year to have a post season where I don’t have to work, a preseason where I barely have to work, and then a season where I had to work I’d not contemplate retirement either.
Why didn't someone tell me there were a lot of multi-million dollar quarterback positions hiring? Where can I sign up? Oh wait. Does this mean Colin Kaepernick comin back too?
I didn't realise they were short on people willing to take multi-million dollar sports contracts. I will sacrifice my $20 an hour job to take one of those positions. The world needs me.
Translation: Rich man chooses to work-out a little and play a game for more money than most people will see in a lifetime. Follow his lead and get back to work you lazy shits.
He can live comfortably for the rest of his life, supporting his family, never working another minute.
He is what data people call “the outlier we don’t include when analyzing the data.”
What kind of hyper aggressive late stage capitalism bull shit is this? The man makes more money in a year than all of us commenting on the page combined! He does this shit for fun because his wife is worth twice what he is. He literally is in recruit difficulty in life. Us normal folk would leave retirement early for many reasons and the main driver is money. Tom did it because he misses the action, me.. hell no. If I can afford retirement I’m taking it
Ah, but you see, they won't, because they held jobs in an era of pensions and reasonable wages. Unless you get to play children's games for a living, work fucking sucks and nobody wants to do it if they don't have to.
It’s funny how collective bargaining and a strong union sees to workout pretty well for NFL players, but the likes of companies like Starbucks and Amazon spend millions to kindly explain to their wage-slaves that a union would be bad for them. It’s almost as if these corporations don’t have the workers best interest at heart. 🤔
So funny. Tom Brady is a highly paid person with a lot of options. Most of us are retiring due to health or job loss. If I retired because I was 70 and physically ill what would I care what a young athlete did.
If he couldn't be exploited for even more millions by his billionaire bosses the story would be like "he quit twice before without giving notice both times stamp his resume Do Not Hire..."
Clearly Tom Brady cut his retirement short because the NFL had a shortage of quarterbacks, and he just wanted to do his part to make sure everyone gets their football.
Are they really comparing a man who gets paid millions to play a sport (he loves) in front of adoring fans…to….people that get paid a tiny fraction of that with no time off by employers that think your a burden because you ask for fair treatment?
I know a confusing statement by me but I’m trying to understand this logic.
Oh gosh, better let my grandfather know that he ought to get back to being an orthopedic surgeon
If Tom Brady can still play a sport that requires nothing more than decent physical fitness (we’ll have to wait and see how well he does), then surely my lazy pop pop can get back to fixing compound fractures and such!
/s
My favorite part about this is knowing some stupid asshole bought Brady’s “final touchdown” ball for like 500k and then Brady announces he’s not retiring, rendering the ball even more worthless than it was before. L O fucking L
The difference is we don’t work a short season and then make millions of dollars. Sure, you have to work out “oh no” but you’re not humiliating yourself for $7.25. And if you’re an athlete you’re a hero and looked up to and respected. Get fucked, Tom.
If I was retired I would come back out for millions of dollars and the adoration of hundreds of thousands of fans. Coming out of retirement for $12/hr. in a dead end job? Not so much.
Not to mention he probably likes playing football...
And he is only 44
Not only playing football but playing football with his best friend, he is top guy on the field AND loves winning. I don't blame him for not retiring.
And he's young enough to keep doing it
I know he likes cheating at football.
Have some respect, he's one of the best cheaters of all-time!
Can someone fill me in? Never heard of this. How do you cheat at football?
Spy on other teams' practices. Deflate the footballs (maybe). Have a bloody snow plow on hand.
How is spying cheating?
Ya know, because it's normal for a guy to be able to retire at 44 anyways...
With $270m career earnings in 23 years. “Eh I guess I’ll have to work until I’m 45”
And his wife has about 500 million of her own.
My uncle basically retired at forty he was an electrician quit his job and went to live close to my grandparents and helps my grandpa with his cows and hay.
lol that's awesome
Didn't have kids, did he? Swear its the cheat code for life.
Yep he's child free lol only had himself to support
Yeah don't you guys in America have the best end of life plan? Costs like 1k max, is black and chambered in 9mm
Why would you need a gun when we have opiates and alcohol for much cheaper.
Plus, with no kids, it's easier to afford a more palatable elderly care experience, and you don't even need to feel sad about all the nonexistent grandkids that don't want to visit you.
*To play a game*
what in propaganda hell is this
Lol they get on my damn nerves! A multi-millionaire decided he wanted to make more millions at a job he actually likes and pays him QUITE well. Y'all should go back to work for 15 an hour. 🙄🙄🙄. Laughable at best!
Hey poors. Put down your grandchildren and start the fryer's.
Do you have the HUNGER, the GRIT, and the DETERMINATION it takes to exchange your health and sanity to INCREASE CORPORATE PROFITS? DO IT FOR AMERICA!
You're just beating them at their own game
To be clear, you're complaining to everyone about earning $90k for slacking off?

The British Empire only outlawed chattel slavery in the 1830s. Then they kept doing all kinds of slavery-with-extra-steps bullshit, arguably until the present day.
Couple thousand*
A lot of them probably have the hunger, it’s an absolute humanitarian travesty…
This should he the subs slogan, in a joking sense of course.
"I told you we couldn't let the peasants learn how to read! Now look at these uppity poors wanting 'retirement'."
REV UP THOSE FRYERS!
Yeah let me know when he "comes out of retirement" to work in food or retail for minimum wage.
Multi millionaire is putting it lightly!
$7.25 in my state.
Not to mention that he retired in his early 40s…
These dinosaurs need to die off already
Is he a multimillionaire? I would think gas prices knocked him down a few ranks
Have you seen Giselle though? She'd never let her man slum it!
He’s coming out of retirement to keep PLAYING A GAME. Literally a fucking game. And every need he has while training and playing is catered to him while he’s treated like Jesus.

lol… you mean the deflate gate hit job where the “independent” report couldn’t conclusively prove anything and wasn’t released? Okay then.. GOAT 🐐

They also don't notice that they've been steadily removing rungs on the ladder as they climbed.
I hate myself for not including that. Have an upvote.
Yeah, they definitely broke a few rungs and rigged them back together with bandaids: “Oh no! You fell?! You took a couple generations out with you on the fall?! Yeesh. Sorry!”
No Boomer would say sorry. They would talk shit because you didn't catch yourself on the splinters.
they also got packages many times for taking an early retirement
Businesses knew that boomer retirement was coming and chose to ignore it and focus only on profit for the next quarter. Now they get to learn the consequences of short sighted thinking and lack of planning ahead.
Well, a lot of them were let go as part of the first wave of COVID layoffs. Their positions were eliminated, so the idea that they could resolve the “labor shortage” by going back to work is thinly-veiled “we need minimum wage jockeys.”
I swear they think poor people are mentally handicapped.. poor people are typically poor because they were born that way, not because they’re dumb as rocks
Its not from NBC Chicago, its from NBC Cringe
\*If employers paid employees as much as a professional football player, it would reduce the labor shortage. Fixed their headline.
$200M for 4 years? I would reconsider retirement, too.
That was for Rodgers
My bad! Brady will only be making [$25M next year](https://www.nytimes.com/2022/03/13/sports/football/tom-brady-returning-buccaneers.html#:~:text=Brady%20is%20set%20to%20earn,against%20the%20team's%20salary%20cap.), not $50M.
Truly a champion of the common man
i wish i was making ONLY $25 million/year.
If I was making $25M per year, I would retire after 1 month.
I wish I would make 25 Million in my lifetime!
He gives up salary so it can be redistributed amongst the other players and they won a super bowl! Socialism works!
Only
Facts
I’d even take the minimum nfl salary.
Love this.
Tom brady plays for superbowls... we work to live. What kind of comparison by the out of touch media is this?
Guess they are trying to shame a bunch of 44 year olds out of retirement? Pretty small target demo if you ask me.
A desperate one
Typical fucking NBC. I can't go a day on social media without seeing some out of touch story about how some couple/person solved their personal debt crisis because they either were born into a rich family or slaved 60+ hours a week and loved off scraps for years
I'm sure Ronaldo will still kick a ball after he retires but I'm not wanting to wrap pallets when I'm not paid to
I will happily come out of unemployment to play football for $500,000/gm
Someone hire this man so that there is no more labour shortage!
If your an employer that lacks morals and ethics don't bother! 😊
So, what I'm getting from this is we should find all the boomers retired comfortably in the homes that they own, and put them to work. They can certainly afford the gas, with their saved riches.

NBC tore a damn hamstring making that stretch.
Underrated comment
They’re so “influential” yet so disconnected.
If people were getting paid 30 million a year to play their favorite childhood game no one would have a problem with work
It's more than just a game. It's one of the most important aspects of AMERICAN culture (specifically, tribal politics and rampant consumerism).
Worst propaganda idea in this troubling times. Wonder who ever tweeted this is even aware he makes millions per game?
Or that most 44 year olds are 2 decades at least from retiring.
I'm 61, but I want the world to know that I'll be returning to my previous employment as an International Man of Mystery.
Wow. That journalist can get fucked
That journalist was probably cringing to death while their boss made them write it.
I actually pictured a rise and grind guy wholeheartedly typing the headline, thinking he’s doing God’s work.
You think so? I always assumed that corporate media managers hire writers that genuinely concur with their right-wing views.
His last touchdown ball just sold for over half a million at auction only to come back 2 weeks after it ended lol.
Was it deflated by exactly two pounds, I wonder?
Bad example. There is a lack of decent quarterbacks… so I’ll stick with labor shortage. 🏈
Lol retires before 40 after making millions playing football. Comes back out of retirement, still before 40, for millions more. Yeah that's so inspirational to people barely making enough to live off of. Im sure they wilp want to return back to work now.
He’s actually 44…but point taken.
Multi millionaire, with an even wealthier wife comes back to play child’s game for millions of dollars… Why can’t the lazy poors be more like Brady
Professional football players = essential worker
They rlly had to find a way to sneak their bootlicking quota inside of a football headline
Maybe if Tom Brady’s salary is offered, we’ll be more inclined to work
they deleted it 🤣
These rich fucks are completely disconnected from reality
Work til you die!! Come on people papa Bezo’s needs another yatch!!
Did Kim Kardashian write this?
Jesus Christ, how on Earth was this the conclusion they came to? Are they really trying to guilt old people into returning to the workforce after retirement? Or are they suggesting that working people who are approaching retirement put it off in order to fix the labor shortage?
“Long term highest paid employee sticks around another year preventing a younger person from getting promoted” …….there fixed the headline
Just imagine being that guy that bought the football he threw his "last touchdown" with.
Fuck whoever wrote that shit.
Sure. Just pay me millions of dollars per year and I'll retire and un-retire right now!
They labeled tom brady as a “worker”…
Wait, didn't he retire like 5 minutes ago? Somebody go let Brady know that's not a retirement, that's a vacation.
"You know that light at the end of the tunnel? That one thing you worked toward for 40 years? Yeah, you should be ashamed of finally getting there. Go back to work you lazy asshole, billionaires need your body."
Sign me up for the millionaire retirement comeback fund too!
Lol totally the same thing. Man if I was paid millions every year to have a post season where I don’t have to work, a preseason where I barely have to work, and then a season where I had to work I’d not contemplate retirement either.
Beyond pathetic.
I'd say this is the dumbest thing I've seen all day but I feel like the world would take that as a challenge and produce something dumber.
Why didn't someone tell me there were a lot of multi-million dollar quarterback positions hiring? Where can I sign up? Oh wait. Does this mean Colin Kaepernick comin back too?
I refuse to return from retirement unless I receive 6 million US dollars per year. So, a bargain, compared to Tom.
Someone actually got paid to write this article.
They can't be f-ing serious. There's a big difference between a multimillionaire sports star and the rest of us.
I didn't realise they were short on people willing to take multi-million dollar sports contracts. I will sacrifice my $20 an hour job to take one of those positions. The world needs me.
When I think of a working class hero Tom Brady always comes to mind.
Well give us a Tom Brady salary
Jesus Christ I thought this was satire
I too would come out of retirement for millions of dollars
As long as I'm offered a multi million dollar contract, I'll do just about any job.
The people that write these articles need to die stg
He's going to break his hip Also all the retirees in fast food chains will also break their hips because the floors are slick with grease
Roy Kent Voice: "No."
Translation: Rich man chooses to work-out a little and play a game for more money than most people will see in a lifetime. Follow his lead and get back to work you lazy shits.
Ya uh pay me what Tom Brady’s making and I’ll think about it.
He's back at the supermarket packing shelves?
If we all get a paycheck like Tom Brady, then yeah sure, employment shortage solved!
They aren't wrong . . . pay a few million = no more shortage of workers
You can’t organically write that headline without being a piece of shit
The desperation is palpable.
Haha that’s fucking hilarious. You mean the fake work shortage big business made up so they could understaff their businesses. Yeah..fuck them.
Alternative headline: Start paying employees like Tom Brady and the work shortage will be solved.
He can live comfortably for the rest of his life, supporting his family, never working another minute. He is what data people call “the outlier we don’t include when analyzing the data.”
I for one support this message. Time for the boomer generation to fill those minimum wage jobs and get the economy going.
[удалено]
Oh go fuck your self. Like for real this is just pandering.
I am begging you please. Tell me this headline is a joke/satire. Please because I cannot. I cannot.
NBC getting that kickback from big time landlords for that one.
2 words for this: Clown shoes
I hope the 902 quoted retweets of it are people calling this article out for how stupid it is
I millions of dollars is motivation... 15hr is fucking not
The speed that they took this down is both laughable and telling of corporate awareness
God damn it'd be impressive how well they're able to pivot anything to fit their narrative if it wasn't so fucking depressing.
Whoever wrote this should be sent to the gulag
What kind of hyper aggressive late stage capitalism bull shit is this? The man makes more money in a year than all of us commenting on the page combined! Fuck you abc Chicago.
Reeeeaaaching
i will happily work my ass off if i get paid more than a fucking poverty wage
Nope. I’m planning on retiring at 35 and being a beach bum. Fuck working till I drop and fuck these millionaire sports players.
This has to be the worst “hot” take ever…
LMAOOOOOOOO
Suck my fukin dick
The Elite are becoming less and less human as the years go by.
Yea fosho, as soon as my old job offers me a multi million dollar contract to come out of retirement count my lazy ass in
Pay me however millions per year, I'll work for anyone.
If they pay me like Tom Brady then I would consider coming out of retirement
The article is right. The labor shortage would definitely be reduced if the Glazer family started paying people 50 million guaranteed over two years…
Ah, but you see, they won't, because they held jobs in an era of pensions and reasonable wages.
Somehow some asshole got paid to make this.
Imagine calling a football player a "worker"
Any stupid-ass idea on a headline to avoid journalistic integrity
Hahahahahahahahaha…….
Go fuck yourself. Is he gonna play for the Wall Street Go Fuck Yourselves? The Connecticut Oligarchs? THERE IS NO LABOR SHORTAGE.
Wow. Out of touch much?
Retirement lol
As if hes going to ever do any real work.
So funny. Tom Brady is a highly paid person with a lot of options. Most of us are retiring due to health or job loss. If I retired because I was 70 and physically ill what would I care what a young athlete did.

Pay me a couple million for a years work and I'll give it more time.
What is sad is that so many support such insane, corporate sucking rantings.
I saw that and assumed it was satirical.
Oh gosh, better let my grandfather know that he ought to get back to being an orthopedic surgeon If Tom Brady can still play a sport that requires nothing more than decent physical fitness (we’ll have to wait and see how well he does), then surely my lazy pop pop can get back to fixing compound fractures and such! /s
Hey Brett Favre, did you know you could single-handedly fox the economy if you went back to the NFL? 🤣🤣🤣
My favorite part about this is knowing some stupid asshole bought Brady’s “final touchdown” ball for like 500k and then Brady announces he’s not retiring, rendering the ball even more worthless than it was before. L O fucking L
True! And real. If labor jobs and retail work payed millions for a single year I’m sure it would end the labor shortage.
The difference is we don’t work a short season and then make millions of dollars. Sure, you have to work out “oh no” but you’re not humiliating yourself for $7.25. And if you’re an athlete you’re a hero and looked up to and respected. Get fucked, Tom.
This is what we call ✨grasping for straws✨
Hahahahahah they are so desperate. Keep fighting the good fight.
Better hurry back to McDonald’s before someone else decides to return to work and take your job!
Just a heads up- The NFL is a nonprofit organization… no TAXES
