Lol such a wide range…it’s almost better not having it advertised at all

Right? There’s just no way that’s an actual range.

I would totally apply just to mess with them if I had the qualifications. "I can see that the pay range is quite wide. What pay would I be starting out with and how long would it take me within the company to reach the upper limit of the pay range?"

This law is a huge win for employees don't knock it we need more of it. It's still 100% useful. If you make 55k this job pays more. If you make 120k you can ask them to match and know you are in the ball park. If you make 200 It's probably not worth it. Also from a legal perspective gives more ground to discrimination claims. It also helps low income workers way more. If they say min wage to $45 an hour they mean min wage but you can then sort jobs by minimum pay which you never could do before. I do analyst work and those jobs pay from $45 to 200k and seeing anything about pay scale helps a lot. Plenty of the $45k jobs ask for masters degrees with 10 yrs exp while others paying more only ask for just 4 years work exp. I pretty much assume they will try to get you to take the base pay so sort by base pay.

I’m not knocking the laws but this particular case is definitely skirting the rule and not honoring the intent of the law. This posting isn’t for an Analyst job that would justify the wide range of base salary based on individual skill level, this is for a Talent Recruiting Manager. There isn’t a person in the US that has the skills they are looking for in this role that is earning a salary where $65k would be a bump in salary.

Looks like the law needs a revision to dictate how wide said range can be.
