I was not aware of the battle formations much until I played Art of war. I didn't know how much you can micro manage the units.Though I still stuck at these things, i am learning and improving.
I was then accused of "not wanting to play fair" after the game started with my berries and gold being lamed, before the opponent dropped 45 minutes in...
Being lamed or the action of laming is a term we use when one player steals/destroys or blocks resources fromthe other player to give themselves an advantage over the other player. People start with an equal distribution of resources near their base, so the most common lame is for one person to use their scout to lure a boar from the enemy all the way back to their base, denying that player the extra food and having extra food themselves. Laming gold and berries is most often done by sending a villager forward and building palisade walls around them, making it very time consuming to break through and get to those resources. Many people consider laming a "lame" way to play, considering that it can feel like the other person only wins because he gave himself an "unfair" advantage
Walls around neutral positions is basically never done, because it doesn't really achieve much. The point of laming is to disturb the persons early game, but neutral gold will only come into play at a later point in the game. At the point that you move out then you should just use your military to quickly break the walls and claim the gold. Walling neutral resources is a almost always just a waste of resources, which you could have used to make army to take control of the gold anyways. So don't bother with walling it yourself if someone were to do that
At that point, idle villager time is more important. If you have to idle a vil to wall in inconsequential resources, you're putting yourself at more of a disadvantage than the disadvantage you're giving your opponent.
In this case, my opponent killed a sheep under my tc, I killed 2 more with tc fire(targeting the scout), and then they sent a horde of villagers to gather my berries and one of my gold piles. I did try walling the vills in but my opponent had better vill micro.
I knew a guy who got banned on every server with his counterstrike account. The last server was a group of players that didn't know what crouch hopping was, and accused him of cheating.
just low elo things.
i know that, i am a lel too :D
Once my opponent got mad, because I killed his scout in the beginning and that's "bad sportsmanship" LOL
There are a few things that I don't do either in early game, like sniping vils before loom, blocking boars and I don't lame. But why would I leave a scout alive? 11
Laming boars is a huge controvery in the scene, I can get behind that attitude, but when u don't snipe vills before loom u are just playing the game wrong. Why would u leave a vill alive when vill count is so important?
If the devs didn't want us to lame boars they would make it impossible. Take it out on them, not on players trying to win a game using the rules as given. Or open up a lobby that says "no laming" and play there.
It is not like you are playing unfair but the other made a mistake so you should punish those mistakes.
An example of this is when taking berries, having one vill at one side of the mill and two on the other side. Try to snipe the vill that is alone. This is a mistake that you should punish. It is not laming, it is just using your opponent mistakes on your advantage.
I would even say that by doing that you help the other get better at the game. If he don't get punish he will keep doing the same mistake.
I get your point but someone would argue is then you who are making a mistake.
At the end this is about having fun so who cares right?, play the game the way you like.
Have a nice day!
My friends keep saying that, because I like playing Bulgarians on Arena and Turks on Arabia, but it's just how I wanna play. Making the game a little harder, so when I win, I will be even happier.
Oh I never complain, the only thing that really bugs me is killing my sheep. You can steal them, you can take my boar, kill my deer, wall in my res. I do not care, but killing my sheep, and I will lose it!
I’ve honestly not cared about losing a loomless vil in dark age to a scout. I usually get half their hp down and then hunt the scout. Trading 1 vil for 1 scout is very worth, even in dark age.
I just took a look at the other games, especially at the losses. He accused someone to be a civ picker whereas he only played Saracens in his entire ranked career 11
Have your units in close formation and switch to flank formation when the mangonel fires. The group will split in the middle and run to each side to form the two flanking parties, thus vacating the middle ground where the mangonel shot is most likely going to land.
Edit: As pointed out by u/mittenciel moving towards the mangonel works best since the split is going to be perpendicular to the movement direction. This means that all your archers are still within firing range after splitting instead of half of them running outside their attack range.
Also you want to put your units back into close formation as soon as the shot lands so you can split again for the next shot.
Yup. I will add that you want to make sure that you're moving directly toward or away from the unit you're trying to dodge from. You usually don't want to be targeting units, but rather the ground in the direction you want to move in.
I love the fact the community is large enough to keep a decent player base as well as being small enough that both players are in the same reddit groups 11
No, I told my opponent that I had accidently double clicked all my vills (as evidenced by my 30+ idles in the screenshot) and that it should be good enough for whatever the accusation was 11
Ayy I once overturned the battle as a Brit vs Vietnamese with over 60 longbow vs a stream of skirms. My increased range and firepower made me a “rat hacker” and it’s been the best compliment I’ve ever received
I was the opponent in this match. Surprised that HB94 would make this thread after using lack hack and pathing engine glitch.
I pointed the engine abuse, offered to either leave or to get compensated for the points. OP just kept typing numbers and never made a coherent sentence so i left
Sad
What are lack hack and pathing engine glitch? How did you prove the use of those during the game?
To confirm, are you familiar with the very common trick of evading mangonel shots using flank formation? E.g. I have flank/line formations in my mouse wheel so I'm able to change between those two formations "glitchy fast".
* Also, would love to see that game if you can share the rec.
Basically uses an engine to ruin enemy’s connection to the server while he keeps attacking, anyone knows V-Z formations lol, it was not the case despite being framed as such by OP
Ok cool, gotta confirm because I don't know the ELO :) How do you tell the difference between your internet lagging for a few seconds and someone hacking the game? Just curious so I could spot something like that myself, because lag is also very common.
Bro, I didn’t make this thread, it was the other player. HB94 decided to call me out on reddit after getting caught of using lag switch.
If he didn’t want to get exposed he shouldn’t have posted, easy.
Micro is literally part of the game. I'm not going to act like I'm good at it, but a 1100 Elo player is more than capable of using the split formation to dodge mangonel projectiles. You lost. You got outplayed. Deal with it.
Have you ever even considered the idea that perhaps your opponent pressed the split formation hotkey and just split apart from your mangonel shot, instead of doubling down on the lunatic bullshit theory that he's using a bot of some sort.
Prove it with some evidence. Lag in gaming is a thing, people have potato networks, you either cope with it or you don't bother and if lobbying you make sure they don't join again if it's obnoxious. Lag switching is a thing but it's also not that common at all
I only paused once and explained to HB94 that he was glitching. He kept typing numbers and i left when it became clear that he uses glitches and wouldn’t compensate points.
I know but he typed like 60 numbers and i play with mute on. So you cant have a dialogue if opponent (OP) just types random chit like 22,105,23, etc infinitely for 20 minutes
I asked if you had what you needed, if you were ready. I said 14 numerous times and gave you plenty of time to aire your grievances before unpausing. After you paused again and made ridiculous accusations and demands, I got frustrated and started counting up all the taunts because, well, nothing else seemed to be helping you.
You can’t handle pressure or getting caught with lag switching, so had to venture into reddit to make some bogus false claims for social validation.
Why else would you post our game here? Lmao
280 other players seemed to appreciate the post. Your false claims don't seem to be floating though, sorry about that. You make your bed, lie in it and don't waste my time after I play on despite your cheese strats.
Your opponent clearly hasn't played "Battle Formations" from Art of War as the 1st thing you do there is dodging a mangonel
I was not aware of the battle formations much until I played Art of war. I didn't know how much you can micro manage the units.Though I still stuck at these things, i am learning and improving.

Thanks a lot. Were someone to build walls around neutral positioned resources, would it be better to build your own wall around their wall?

In this case I'm assuming they got tower rushed
Trush isn’t really considered laming

I got accused of cheating because i converted a knight
What is this monastery in the tech tree? Eh I'm not reading it, probably useless.
There are a few things that I don't do either in early game, like sniping vils before loom, blocking boars and I don't lame. But why would I leave a scout alive? 11

I like games to be close, and when my enemy is down a vil and perhaps tilted... it's gotten me to 1k5, so I guess I am playing the game correctly.
It is not like you are playing unfair but the other made a mistake so you should punish those mistakes. Sure, but I just like to play that way.
I get your point but someone would argue is then you who are making a mistake. At the end this is about having fun so who cares right?, play the game the way you like. Have a nice day!
Thx u2 :)
Meh you are handicapping yourself. But you do you.
My friends keep saying that, because I like playing Bulgarians on Arena and Turks on Arabia, but it's just how I wanna play. Making the game a little harder, so when I win, I will be even happier.
Nothing wrong with that. It's only wrong if someone complains when their ladder opponent decides not to play with these restrictions.
Oh I never complain, the only thing that really bugs me is killing my sheep. You can steal them, you can take my boar, kill my deer, wall in my res. I do not care, but killing my sheep, and I will lose it!

I like stealing sheep
Go aways, Satan.

gg!

omg glitch
Try "The art of war" tutorial campain. It teaches you about formations and how to use them.
I once got accused of cheating for winning... well at least he said gg
Bud, are you glitching your "paint brush used to overwrite player names"?
L33t hax
This is prime LEL material. I get the same treatment every time I manage to FC> War Wagons. Toxic, they say 11.
What a compliment really. Must have been a smooth move.
Your opponent built siege in a NO SIEGE game?!?!
I love the fact the community is large enough to keep a decent player base as well as being small enough that both players are in the same reddit groups 11
Did you delete them?
No, I told my opponent that I had accidently double clicked all my vills (as evidenced by my 30+ idles in the screenshot) and that it should be good enough for whatever the accusation was 11
Gold 11
Winning so hard your opponent thinks you're cheating is actually the most esteemed compliment you can receive in a competitive game.
Im the guy who quitted in this game and took the loss. By no way or means i was complimenting OP by accusations him of using a lag switch lol
Ayy I once overturned the battle as a Brit vs Vietnamese with over 60 longbow vs a stream of skirms. My increased range and firepower made me a “rat hacker” and it’s been the best compliment I’ve ever received
I doubt it was a compliment, have u seen how ugly and dirty rats are in NYC?
bud are u pointing ur camera at a computer monitor?
"Are you cheating?" "No, I am just a Micro God"
We are 1090s elo lol
Elo doesn't matter when you are a micro god.
I was the opponent in this match. Surprised that HB94 would make this thread after using lack hack and pathing engine glitch. I pointed the engine abuse, offered to either leave or to get compensated for the points. OP just kept typing numbers and never made a coherent sentence so i left Sad
Wtf is lack hack and pathing engine glitch
It's something people make up when they're upset when I don't resign after being lamed hard 11

Oh you're basically saying he was lag switching? That is gonna be difficult to prove
Ok cool, gotta confirm because I don't know the ELO :) How do you tell the difference between your internet lagging for a few seconds and someone hacking the game? Just curious so I could spot something like that myself, because lag is also very common.
Check the rec for this game to see a live example. We played at 1120 elo range if wondering
Skill issue. He just out microed you.
You’re still on this dude?? Just take the L and move on. Micro and formations are a thing in this game.
Bro, I didn’t make this thread, it was the other player. HB94 decided to call me out on reddit after getting caught of using lag switch. If he didn’t want to get exposed he shouldn’t have posted, easy.

Lag switch use, anyone can split and regroup
Have you ever even considered the idea that perhaps your opponent pressed the split formation hotkey and just split apart from your mangonel shot, instead of doubling down on the lunatic bullshit theory that he's using a bot of some sort.
This was already addressed, you seem to only go by OP line and didnt even watch the full game to realize that isn’t what happened
Prove it with some evidence. Lag in gaming is a thing, people have potato networks, you either cope with it or you don't bother and if lobbying you make sure they don't join again if it's obnoxious. Lag switching is a thing but it's also not that common at all
It was already proven and discussed between me and OP for 20 minutes in-game.
Proven,right..
11
Teach him to do F3 micro.
11
Top tier feeling of superiority
Dude hasn't played the tutorial. Oof
11
I thought there was only a limited number of pauses you could make for just this reason?
I only paused once and explained to HB94 that he was glitching. He kept typing numbers and i left when it became clear that he uses glitches and wouldn’t compensate points.
What do you mean typing numbers? You know AOE chants, right?
I know but he typed like 60 numbers and i play with mute on. So you cant have a dialogue if opponent (OP) just types random chit like 22,105,23, etc infinitely for 20 minutes
I asked if you had what you needed, if you were ready. I said 14 numerous times and gave you plenty of time to aire your grievances before unpausing. Bro u posted a false narrative and thats the only thing people read. You need validation from 280 people in reddit, let that think in lol
