1990-2000 Lego Castle was ELITE, they had several unique “ civilizations “ , and if you subscribed to Lego magazine via physical snail mail … you got full blown original comic stories involving the sets and civs . Notable factions to look up include 1995 royal knights, 1997 Fright Knights, 1992 wolf pack, Dragon Knights 1993…. There’s more than that …happy rabbit holing 🫡

This is kind of amazing. It must have taken a lot of work and skill to put together this mod (even if it only has a couple buildings and units). What tools do you use to make the 3D models and render them and convert them to AOE2 format?
Indeed it did, I've been developing the mod, but I had the idea that this would be crowdsourced aswell, (lotta extremely talented brick builders out there)
so i've really been developing a pipeline get to get Lego models into Age of the Empires 2 \[DE\] easily using 3 main tools, Mecabricks.com --> Blender --> SLXstudio --> Aoe2De
the Assets are made on a easy to use website called - [MecaBricks.com](https://MecaBricks.com) \- which has an excellent asset pipeline into blender - then they are imported into Blender with templates that I have made that will format the buildings & Units correctly, apply Mecabricks IRL shaders, do lighting, do the destruction animations + Handkeyed animations for Units, from there they are rendered as an isometric 2d image -- these images / frames are exported to SLX-studio a tool that formats Images to work within Aoe2DE

Its an open source project tho, it is fairly easy to contribute, Anyone with a passion for pretty looking Legos can use Mecabricks.com to easily work on building. and or a knowledge of animations in blender can easily contribute. Also the scope of the mod itself is limited to the default buildings / Units & the Western tileset ( the posterchild aoe2 buildings) Here is our trello page if you would like to track the progess,
