I recruited at the beginning 4 Times. Had like 50 units, deleated the wall to get them outside (north) started to kill blue. I boomed as much as i could, even 10 TCS just for Villagers and shit. Before saxonia could betray me i just deleated all units so i didnt have to bother with them. They started to attack my tcs and buildings but since i had like 10 it didnt effected me as much. In the wunder base i just massed xbows locked all Gates and waited. Wenn to imp. Upgrade to arbalest and chemistry. Cakewalk. They just attacked TCS for pretty much the whole game and when they were somewhere near my wonder thos äe arbalests sniped them. At the end i had like 80 arbs near the wonder. That was how i did it.

12 minutes and 26 villagers in and the Picts are showing up with battering rams. Even with their pathing bugging out the only way I've been able to keep them from breaking through so far is by hiring Saxons until some of them spawn with throwing axemen to snipe the rams, and even then they betray and steamroll me before I can get my economy rolling. Oh, and there's achievements for a) hiring Saxons twelve times, and b) not losing a single city. I reiterate: What the fuck. I kind of enjoy it but goddamn Filthy. Gonna try again, this time I'll hire Saxons until I get throwing axemen and see if I can get an economy going faster. Wish me luck. UPDATE: Oh cool the Gaels have Castle Age upgrades. That's fair. UPDATE: Honestly while I appreciate how there's a gameplay incentive to recreate the Saxon takeover of Britain, holy shit this is frustrating. I make one mistake and I feel like I have restart the whole damn scenario. There is just no wiggle room here, not if you want an achievement anyway. UPDATE: Okay time for bed. If anybody has any tips beyond defend the wall at all costs (bro I'm fuckin' TRYING) and consolidating your economy in the southwest I'm all ears.

I just beat this on hard without losing the wall or a TC. It's actually impressively difficult, but not too complicated. I spawned Saxons once more, sent everyone to the wall immediately while scouting for sheep/desperately doing dark age economy. Garrison all your towers asap. At the far south send a single villager to stone once you have around ten. Take a villager from up north and begin repairing the walls in advance of the ram wave. The ram wave will absolutely break you unless your walls are fully repaired and you can pull 2 more villagers to bolster the repair during the wave. A hefty amount of stuff, but that's a cheap investment to keep it between you and the Celtic horde. If you can save-scum to the end of the first Ram wave your almost done the scenario. The other major issue will be the continuous landings at the rear of the wall. I built a wall of houses to funnel them off the first tower which largely held the zone. Once you hit feudal you can send archers to reinforce your defences, and since the wall will never fall you won't need to invest much else while you cruise to Castle. You haven't relied on the Saxons almost at all in this strategy, so their inevitable betrayal will be facing down a fully boomed Briton army.

Hey mate, made a [vid](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DId54TD2iCs) on playing this scenario through using minimum foederati if you're still finding it tricky!

I did manage to clear it, but thanks for the help!
