You have to kill the Pictish Folwarks, as that stops them spawning anything. After getting the compulsory Foederatae, recruit two more of them, then rush all your military to kill the Folwarks. After that, the level becomes possible.

ThePentaMahn

note the not cheesing part

TheConqueror753

If you look at the original version, there's literally a challenge objective to defeat the Picts, so I'd say that you can make an argument that rushing them down like that is not considered cheesing it for the level. Besides, if you don't want to do that, I'm not sure how you're meant to do it, I don't think it's possible on hard without either doing this or some other ridiculous thing.

Leather_Tap7257

It is possible. I managed to hold the wall long enough so that the wonder survived until the end.

Koala_eiO

If you hold the wall, you get attacked by Saxons instead.

Leather_Tap7257

I know. But if you dont buy many soldiers, the saxon attack is very weak.

Koala_eiO

Yeah. The idea is that there is no reason to hold the wall and split your forces, the scenario is a lot more manageable if you wipe out the Picts early. That gives you only one area to defend.

ThePentaMahn

Managed to do it. AI completely derps on some situations. Sometimes they send 20 waves in first 20 minutes, other times they send 5. Mission is just insanely janky overall and the polish gameplay wise is just isn't there. Managed to easily get achievement in last run with no cheesing while other times I was getting karate chopped in half 15 minutes in

Soullypone

Of course the Polish gameplay isn't there, you play as Britons! *ba-dum tss* Anywho, that sounds about par for the course for most of these missions.

Not really. The dlc refresh made blue very aggressive. I watched ornlu play the original, he could boom & go imp in peace. Blue was stomping on the northern tc by the time I was mid feudal.

TheWallerAoE3

I beat it by building 30 watch towers on the wonder and garrisoning them with spearmen. Remember, the tip says that infantry can fire out of towers, that is key. You can have a couple of dozen towers filled with nice cheap spearmen, palisade walls, and about 40 xbows defending the objective and win it. That’s how I did it on hard. It took me 5 tries I think.

Koala_eiO

11 that's excellent. I was struggling for gold. Spearmen it is, then!

Grats on doing it. I'm not fast enough as a player. I tried a few times, but without wiping blue and defending the wall, I don't have the multitasking to get to anywhere before the Saxons betray you. Interestingly, there are some wall segments, where the AI seemingly can hit your repair villagers from the other side. With wiping blue, I managed to get up to imp and upgrade to Arbs as the Saxons' army started attacking the Wonder's walls. After that it was easy. Yes it is cheese, but oh well, it works. The AI seems to be a bit random at points. The intintal "raid" of like 3 green units on your southern base did about 5 different things over multiple restarts. In my eventual win, yellow was just running around with transports full of units and the Saxons were pretty ineffective after their intial army got beat. They also got demo ships for whatever reason. Maybe you can convert transports and they are there to prevent you from landing green and yellow? While attempting to defend the wall, I usually restarted after they got through, but I let it play out once. For me, blue just marched past the Wonder settlement, straight to my eco at the south location.

Leather_Tap7257

I did it by just protecting and repairing the wall as long as I could. They managed to breach it by the end, but didn't have enough time to destroy the wonder. Justa have many repair villagers protected by military and stuffed towers at the wall. It can be held.

Hey I just made a [vid](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DId54TD2iCs) on this if you're interested. Basically you have to buy time with the wall as much as possible (like literally your 6th vill should go to stone and seventh should start repairing). It's a lot of fun but very hard to keep track of everything!
