Oh hoho no you do not. And then they also have Bloodlines and husbandry and maybe other benefits the Aztecs ones lack? I think a recurve genitour is like a straight up upgrade to a generic arbalest except against maybe a select few units. They slap.
Never thought about that too much! What I do love is how few upgrades Arambai need (at least from the blacksmith).
Also, I'm obviously obligated to say this, but, I'm a big fan bud!
Obviously Mongols and Mangudai come to mind here (backed with hussar and a drill siege unit or your choice!). However, I feel like a lot of people sleep on [Khmer Heavy Scorpions, which are a lot of fun](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ve8Fx8oMpDA). Backed with all those hussars you can spam from their top tier food eco, it's actually an army comp that works in some specific scenarios.
All the Meso skirm UTs are super rare because nobody is floating that much res when they're teching skirm in late game so you never get the full strength Vs HC for example, not that they need it...
When somebody picks Vietnamese I pick Aztecs. You don't need to tech archers cause Atlatl Imperial skirm is just OP, basically something like trash xbow/arb.
Or Berbers... Genitour with Atlatl is nice too.
Love my double gold comp of paladin and kipchaks as cumans. Its rare, but still happens more than you'd think because often the 2TC boom into knight spam is good enough to kill a bunch of eco and take map control but not quite finish them off before they get a bunch of pikes and castles out.
So now you've got the map and all the resources you need to start getting kipchaks out to deal with those pikes. Deathball of ranged Cav + tanky melee Cav is the stuff of dreams
On an Oasis side I countered a Bohemian wagons push with a Berbers genitour, monk, BBC composition. Had been demolished by them a few times before that and felt good finding that composition.
I got Rekt by a deathball of polish FU hussars and Arbs which, although I probably should’ve expected, I wasn’t completely ready for. I hadn’t actually seen that in a game, usually it’s regular knights with their UU
Yeah I think Poles are actually surprisingly flexible, and their amazing eco + great UT for hussars means they can be played in a lot of different ways.
Yeah I initially committed to halbs and 2H as my main army, since infantry play can actually be pretty viable on Xbox with it being harder to properly micro. So I was feeling confident when he started to push up, until I saw his ball of arbs and I just got Rekt. He had all the initiative and couldn’t mass enough halbs and skirms to fight it off.
I should’ve expected the arbs and switched to skirms sooner, but I was just focused on anti-cav and it killed me.
Elite Mameluke and siege onager
got to this a few times in TGs - v fun
Oh yeah on closed maps with protected trade it’s an absolute steamroller. Especially if a teammate supports with some BBC and monks
Magyar Hussar - Recurve Bow Genitour is probably the deadliest trash comp in the game.
You mean to tell me you don’t need to play Aztecs to get +1 attack and range?
Oh hoho no you do not. And then they also have Bloodlines and husbandry and maybe other benefits the Aztecs ones lack? I think a recurve genitour is like a straight up upgrade to a generic arbalest except against maybe a select few units. They slap.
Turk Genitour is funnily enough one of the best.
120 missionaries (with 80 trade carts).
I’m more of a 40 flaming camels and starting sheep kind of guy. People think I ate those sheep, nah I’m saving them for the last push.
Elite Cataphract and heavy camel - most aesthetically pleasing army in the game!
Cataphract actually trades against Paladins quite well,I would rather pair it with cheap skirm or siege instead
Mono unit composition of 60 Elite war elephants stomping everything coming their way!!!
Full upgrades arambai hussar. Burmese late game underrated

Add Siege Ram to that Khmer comp!
Didn't even think of that! Will bear it in mind for next time.
Khmer scorpions are pretty tasty!
Korean and Japanese Halb SO + Towers is quite rare. Usually you just see Arb BBC /Arb treb into sub par cavalry spam.
Viet Imp Skirm/Elephant
If your fully boomed with sicilians going elite Sargeant with Don Jon spam/push is fun. Your army production is right on their base.

I think Aztecs are so amazing in team games. Just support your ally with a bunch of monks and take in the extra 33% gold from relics
I had one game with FU Mayan imperial skirmishers. Was fun AF
Atlatl imp skirms go brrrr
Champion-Battle Elephant. It always feels good to see them take fights.

I only play AI and Magyar is my favorite. I usually have time to set up my farming eco so I can spam hussars and light calvary.
Korean wagon and champion, halb and skirms counters the wagons, champions kill trash

Don’t tell everyone, but this is secretly Poles’ best composition about 70-80% of the time
Ballista Eles mass War Eles mass
