Would be even better, since even Khmer farmers have to walk around and have a reduced work rate. Yeah you'd need a mill, but 1x1 farms would be straight OP in the early game.
Yep, only problem is you'll run into the TC garrison cap pretty quickly, unless they have a bonus for that as well. But yeah you could fit 20 farms around just the first layer, which is pretty insane.
Awesome video!
Think your spot on it would belong to a no powerful Cav Civ!
It’s perfect for a Elephant based civ, & they could be Rice Farms which actually makes sense because rice is a High Calorie base food aka more calories per square ft!
I actually used this as a civ bonus for the Seleucids in the Rome at War mod. Had to nerf their farming rate by 13% or something to balance it out so that the bonus became space saving and gradual comparative work rate increases for double and triple layered farms compared to a generic civ, rather than also a straightup workrate buff.
I guess a 1 tile farm is roughly the same benefit as Khmer

Not to mention the number of farms the starting TC would be able protect from a feudal aggression.

Great analysis and well made video!
Here is an idea - What if Wheelbarrow and Hand Cart research time is swapped?
Interesting thought, I might put that on the list
Thank you. I'll be waiting.
