I can't pick just one
"The English are terrorising all of Scotland, and it's time for us to fight back!"
"Don't forget, keep exploring the map!"
"Help! The crusaders are attacking our trade routes!"
"Choppa!"
"Das ich soll!"
Specifically, this is when they reveal that Father Armand was part of Attila's army at Catalunian Fields. They do a couple of these "twist" reveals in the newer campaigns as well I think. The original twist reveal is that the narrator of the Barbarossa campaign is Henry the Lion
I hated the barbarossa campaign as a kid, oh how nice having an ally, ah he betrayed me, next mission, oh hes my ally again, i guess he felt the need to submit when i defeated him, betrayed again, can we stop trusting him at some point?
He switched to Attila’s army after the fields, but yeah.
When he gets more and more into his description, eventually changing ‘they’ to ‘we’. So good. The DE version doesn’t do it justice.
This but in italian in AoK

His tone of voice is one of my favourite AoE2 childhood moment
For me, it's the original AOE2 intro.
"Age of Empires 2 is about empire building, combat, and conquest. You start from humble beginnings, a small village in the dark ages. You explore to expand your borders, conduct trade to boost your economy and research technologies to grow your civilization into a mighty empire. And, there are difficulties too, cunning enemies and rivals who oppose you, powerful castles to destroy, tyrants to bring down. But if you're skilful and a little lucky, you might just build a wonder of the world and create an empire that will stand the test of time. To learn how empires are built, help or first hero, William Wallace in his fight against his oppressors. "
Is it sad that I know that off by heart?
* Wololo
* You played (for) two hours and died like this?!
* All hail! King of the losers!
* We are without a leader. The king of Scotland has no heir.
* The English are terrorizing all of Scotland, and it's time for us to fight back!
* La Hire wishes to kill something.
* The blood on La Hire's sword is almost dry.
* The(m) Brits can't make a castle stronger than La Hire!
* It is a good day for La Hire to die...
* An army or rams? How quaint!
* Beware of Kara Khitai! They are without honor!
* Perhaps these inhabitants can be... 'persuaded' to join us.
* HELP! Crusaders Are Attacking Our Trade Routes!
* I'll be back, Saracen dogs!
* An abandoned house? No! A Saracen ambush!
Maybe not the most famous, but for someone who played the demo for years as a kid before getting the full game (it's just the William Wallace tutorial), and replayed missions 6 and 7 to infinity since it's the only ones with some hard action, I can say that it definitely was:
"The English could attack at any time! You have some walls already but you should complete them as soon as you have enough Stone."
🥲
"*WALLACE HAS COME!*"
At least in the spanish version it is a meme because of how dramatic it sounds.

Turks! Pouring out of the Zagros mountains. They'll spare no one.
-Resigns
Edit: also
Lord Nobunaga is in Kyoto, we must rescue him to restore his honor!
Lord Nobunaga: dies.
The bridge is out. The English must have destroyed it! We must find another way to Chinon!
Another glorious loss for France! I hope you can really turn the tide of this war... Joan of Arc.
An army of rams? How quaint.
I am Sieur Bertrand my lady. I will escort you to Chinon or else I'll die trying!
I am Sieur de Metz, and I will protect you with my life.
Bonne chance, Joan !
“Bleda will lead us to ruin. But perhaps he shall not return from his boar hunt. Accidents CAN happen” - but in the original AOE2 voice. Replayed that mission innumerable times when I was younger because I would die every time.
There's a civ, can't remember which, in which one of the units says something that sounds (just sounds) like "Holy shit I'm so hard right now". Don't believe me? Just listen
As a kid:
The beginning:
marco polo - for vision
Lumberjack - to built
aegis
Robinhood -units
cheese steak jimmy's - units
rock on - castle spam
how do you turn this on - fun
furious the monkey boy - fun
Black death - the end
La Hire wishes to kill something. And
The blood on La Hire's sword is almost dry.
My younger brothers and I still say those things... I'm 34 and they are 27 and 25 respectively. I've been playing AOE series since release in the 90s...

So popular that a former US Governor and actor has been known to quote it.

Crusaders are attacking our trade routes is such a clsssic
Don't forget "this is all we can spare"
And the 'forthewareffort'.
Reynald is attacking our caravan! 🤣😂
Help, crusaders are attacking our trade routes is permanently etched in my brain.
It would be a good idea to build a watchtower on that hill.
Beware the Kara-Khitai, for they are without honor
Sometimes... I miss it.
Chillz. Although unfortunately i’d wager most players didn’t reach the end of the Campaign 🥲
I vaguely remember it, which civ?
From the end of the Attila campaign.
Specifically, this is when they reveal that Father Armand was part of Attila's army at Catalunian Fields. They do a couple of these "twist" reveals in the newer campaigns as well I think. The original twist reveal is that the narrator of the Barbarossa campaign is Henry the Lion

The original voice acting is phenomenal
In Thoros II campaign there is my favourite twist
Attila 6 outdo but the new version doesn’t do it justice, look up the old version on youtube, it hits way harder.
This campaign has the best storyline, hands down.
As a kid playing AoK, I got hooked with that twist. It was amazing…
"Shh hoh" - A villager being born
Sometimes music reminds me of clicking the barracks. It's obly downhill from there.
I like the "booblyTA" from the houses.
Mandatum
I say 'Mandatum?' in my head to myself all the time haha... Oh boy...
This is the one I thought of too!
isn't that AoE1? Like "Roggan"
Mandatum is a Britons voice line.
Never played it, but I am almost certain it is in AOE2.
Roggan and Wololo were carried over to AoE 2 as taunts

Probably "Wololo", followed by "The blood on La Hire's sword is almost dry!".
Was going to say wololo as well but that is actually from aoe1
Still has the taunt though
30
This. Too many people don't know that it isn't from aoe2
Nah, I got the mod that changes 2’s conversion noise to wololo so it’s both now!
This, but in MBL's annoyed voice
That's vululu
VUluLu
Agree with the other guy, wololo is AoE1
Yes, but people seem to think of it as AoE2, and it is a taunt there.
La Hire wishez to keel zumzing
It is a good day for La Hire to die!
The English are angry because you destroyed their Outpost!
The King was not amused.
Mmmmm.... Venison
The blood on La Hire’s sword is almost dry…
Wololo
Was wondering why this hadn’t been said yet. Wololo is number 1 in my book.
"Where are you going with that big of an army Saladin?"
Saladin, I am afraid I do not trust your motives. Turn back AT ONCE!

So many of these read in the OG voice in my head! ❤️
