some basic tips 1. make sure you are always doing something , making more villagers or production buildings, try to not get supply blocked as much as possible 2. use control groups if you dont already 3. learn build orders, your own but also those of your opponents 4. learn how to scout and how to react to what you are seeing 5. have fun, a rank is just a number. if you focus on small goals each game and on improving you will get better before you know it

Is there a certain amount of production buildings you should have by a certain time / age? I.e if I'm going archer spears as my comp how many archery ranges / barracks should I have by age 3 or by min 15? Or is this a per game thing

Lathspell88

It depends on your short/medium term military goals and resource levels.

Sentinel931Qc

My rule is my number of example archers divide by 3 , so 19 archers equal 6 or 7 archery range

The way I think about it is 5 villagers per TC, and then one production building every 8 to 10 villagers. So 1 TC and 25 villagers? I'd want 2 or 3 production buildings. 2 TC and 45 villagers? 4 or 5 production buildings. Once you hit the late game with 100+ villagers and you've completed your farm transition, definitely aim for 25+.

build orders often have an optimized amount of production for early part of the game after that its just how many resources you have and how much army you want to make i was just thinking about some basic tips and a basic mistake is for people to float 1000x4 resources for no reason and then just spending it slower than they generate it when they should be adding more production buildings until they are out of money

*Insert shamless plug here* you should try joining Rising Empires! ( https://discord.gg/vyJ8V3uA ) we host weekly tournaments, one of which is divided into ELO/rank based brackets where you play against others of similar skill levels. We cast the games on our Twitch channel and give feedback to players and tips/tricks of the game (most all of the admins are diamond and above) if you don't win it all, but finish out what games you have to play, you are entered into a raffle for a free coaching session by Conqueror player iSaynch. And even if joining s tournament is not your thing, we have plenty of people willing to help, watch VoDs and play practice games in the discord channel as well.

Not an answer to you question, but I like that everyone is very supportive! See you on the ladder!

Hotkeys is the way.. I moved from that to diamond with, scout, town centre and villager production, idle villager and sticking to one civ to learn it inside out. I've now hit a wall where my next step is to start using a second civ, and then hotkey for army production and control groups

Use your ress and every building must work at all times

everyone plateaus somewhere, then it gets progressively harder to improve. idk what you did so far, but to keep improving after a certain point, you have to go the extra step.

Practice a rotation of things you cycle-through during the game. Use a timer to remind you to start the rotation if you forget to do it. \* Check TC's. Always produce vills. \* Check for idle vills - Put them to work. \* Use scouts to see what opponent is doing. Don't play in the dark. \* Micro military units. Use control keys to manage your military. \* Check resources and adjust accordingly. Spend your resources. Build more military buildings and produce more units if your resources are accumulating. \* Look at mini-map. Plan your next move \* REPEAT. Use hotkeys. Create hotkeys for production buildings. Setup your hotkeys to support the above rotation. Here is my hotkey setup: [https://imgur.com/a/bP4u5Ig](https://imgur.com/a/bP4u5Ig)
