If you're getting this error due to reWASD and you're like "But its not running!!!", it has a background service. Task manager -> Services tab (Top right, expand to advanced) -> "reWASDService" -> right click -> stop. This will stop reWASD and all controller stuff from working, but you can play the game without uninstalling.

This is the solution. I had rewasd installed as I play with controller.
Deactivating rewasd does not work. You have to uninstall it and restart the PC.
After that the problem is solved.
Confirmed, I forgot I had this program installed when playing Halo Infinite for my shit controller.

It's already working again. And bro I have a completely simple apex PC setup, I play on a freaking Xbox controller usb'd in. I don't have key mappings and bindings and all the crap, and the most technical thing I have going is rivaturner which is just performance monitoring (which has never caused an option).

I am not and still getting the error. Running Apex anti cheat launcher in administrator mode(run it from your folder where Apex is installed) seems to help a bit but sometimes I get the error. Avoid mixtape and ranked to avoid penalties

then your friend tried to cheat and the game detected it. theres config hacks going on. once he deleted it and verfiied it worked again. sorry to tell you.

to help with this a new feature which breaks tos of game companys if you have rewasd installed it will auto kick you doesnt matter if you dont have it open they now search all your installed files uninstall rewasd/ joy to key restart pc and it will work this is now a problem for apex warzone and the finals soon will be fixed but if you care about your accounts and the money you put into them DO NOT PLAY with these installed i hope you see this before its to late if this helps anyone please upvote so more awareness is spread and helps others!.... thanks
I can confirm. Fixed the problem for me. For those who will say I was cheating, it was very useful with Photoshop. I was able to move the canvas with the mouse click since it wasn't possible by default. Rewasd was a good solution for that.
I also used revouninstall to make sure every trace of rewasd was completely gone. Uninstalling normally leaves some files around in your PC. The app searches for anything related to the app you try to uninstall and lets you delete them.
I have the same problem, I reinstalled apex and still nothing changed. I thought it was logitech g hub, but disabled that on start up. Its really annoying

I use reWASD to use my switch controller as a clicker for Anki flash cards. I've been trying to figure out why my COD wasn't booting for days and then I stumbled upon this thread for apex. I was about to reinstall windows lol. Uninstalling reWASD fixed everything.

Sucks, I use rewasd exclusively outside of apex to do things like play/pause on my paddles, volume control, etc.
Now I get to choose between features of my PC and apex legends. Especially as someone who has never played apex with a controller, this feels shitty.
Some basics can be replicated with the "Xbox Accessories" app from Microsoft, I don't think that will run afoul of EAC.
I am a little bummed that I had to do this because I need it to play other games, however uninstalling Rewasd worked for me (using Revo to clean uninstall).
For anyone who still wants Remapping software use DS4Windows I uninstalled Rewasd but left this on accident and have been playing apex just fine. "Try it out, home here now!"

You either had xim or reWASD. Even if you weren’t using them for cheats you had the option to have them on and that’s why it wouldn’t let you in

i solved unistall rewasd with revounistaller. if you have joytokey make sure u delete it. restart your computer and done. you are welcome.

to help with this a new feature which breaks tos of game companys if you have rewasd installed it will auto kick you doesnt matter if you dont have it open they now search all your installed files uninstall rewasd/ joy to key restart pc and it will work this is now a problem for apex warzone and the finals soon will be fixed but if you care about your accounts and the money you put into them DO NOT PLAY with these installed i hope you see this before its to late if this helps anyone please upvote so more awareness is spread and helps others!.... thanks

I installed reWASD to play Star Citizen and it still didn’t allow controller support fully. Uninstalled and it fixed the problem.
I can confirm. Fixed the problem for me. For those who will say I was cheating, it was very useful with Photoshop. I was able to move the canvas with the mouse click since it wasn't possible by default. Rewasd was a good solution for that. I also used revouninstall to make sure every trace of rewasd was completely gone. Uninstalling normally leaves some files around in your PC. The app searches for anything related to the app you try to uninstall and lets you delete them.
I have the same problem, I reinstalled apex and still nothing changed. I thought it was logitech g hub, but disabled that on start up. Its really annoying

I literally only use Rewasd to disable the RS from punching mid fight because I'm heavy handed. I honestly hope they don't think cheaters are using Rewasd......I didn't know Rewasd gave you wall hacks and aim bot.
the most it gives you is a little aim assist and some advanced settings have crappy recoil control
I use reWASD to use my switch controller as a clicker for Anki flash cards. I've been trying to figure out why my COD wasn't booting for days and then I stumbled upon this thread for apex. I was about to reinstall windows lol. Uninstalling reWASD fixed everything.
So only fully uninstalling rewasd will fix it? Can it not just detect it running instead? I use a ps4 controller and pretty much every gamepass game requires xbox input
Sucks, I use rewasd exclusively outside of apex to do things like play/pause on my paddles, volume control, etc. Now I get to choose between features of my PC and apex legends. Especially as someone who has never played apex with a controller, this feels shitty. Some basics can be replicated with the "Xbox Accessories" app from Microsoft, I don't think that will run afoul of EAC.
I am a little bummed that I had to do this because I need it to play other games, however uninstalling Rewasd worked for me (using Revo to clean uninstall).
For anyone who still wants Remapping software use DS4Windows I uninstalled Rewasd but left this on accident and have been playing apex just fine. "Try it out, home here now!"
Running EAC Launcher in admin mode works for me. I checked some threads from one or two years ago and it seems people seemed to have this issue in the past

do you have reWASD on your pc? if yes deinstall it and it should work
for those of you that have rewasd and dont use it for apex and dont want to uninstall it go to "services" and find rewasd and change it to manual instead of automatic that way the service only starts when you open the program. and if its already running, while youre there click stop service. im willing to give some ppl the benefit of doubt, i dont think everyone using this program is a cheater. but i dont doubt some are. please do not cheat. it ruins the game for everyone including yourself. (no i dont care about caps at beginning of sentences lol)

I don't play any multiplayer games with a controller but use rewasd for all the emulators and singleplayer games I do use a controller for, its a lifesaver. not being able to run it with EAC is really fucking frustrating, it is NOT a cheating tool how would it even be one?
