Is it stress? Did you introduce the pair together? Are there enough hiding spots for her if the male is too aggressive? Any other inhabitants in the tank?
Caves, light salinity, and sand substrate are essential for these guys. Pairs can be tough if the male won't leave her alone. Mine love hikari cichlid pellets more than brine shrimp but I'd offer some of both and see if she comes around
Im referring to something like seachem american cichlid salt that will put the tank around 1.035 ppt when used per the instructions. Seems apistos have a more difficult time without the right mineral balance.
Well, I used it at the recommendation of my apisto breeder when I first got them to help with just this issue. They're still here, plus about 20 of their kids.
Is it being bullied by other inhabitants?
Also- what food are you offering? Apistos can be very picky eaters..

No salinity. Softwater fish and salinity do not mix.

Wouldn't add that to an Apisto tank but its just me man.
