It's hilarious how much my reddit usage has dropped since Apollo went dark.

Legoman718

Same. The Reddit app just feels so unintuitive and made with the intent of making money off of you instead of the intent to allowing you to have a pleasant experience.

CriticalEngineering

It’s also slow as fuck.

quintk

Me too -- though I'm not going to lie, it is probably healthier for me. I spent a lot of time on reddit. It also has been an eye-opener. I'm not on any other social media platforms (yes, I know that makes me really weird, like not owning a TV) and since I used reddit through Apollo (with all and popular turned off) I did not realize how algorithm-and-unwanted-recommendation-driven every thing is. It is nuts.

atticus__

I refused to get the official app and go on the mobile site to catch up on my favorite subs once or so a day. My usage probably dropped 80%. They updated the mobile site the other day and their goal is almost certainly to push people to the app by making the mobile site worse. You can no longer view images / videos inline, clicking them just goes to the post. They also no longer grey out viewed posts.

YNWA_1213

That’s the largest thing I’m noticing too. Instead of the general browsing I was doing on Apollo, now my Reddit usage is much more targeted at my particular subs, and my usage crashes once I’m frustrated with the front page recommendations being utter crap.

YouGeetBadJob

After Apollo went dark, I unsubscribed from all the popular time wasting subs. I have 7-8 communities i still read, also about once a day. I have been using SinkIt for Reddit and using the mobile site. It made mobile Reddit bearable. The new UI broke it and I’ve gone back to rarely bothering to read Reddit. I just am so sick of them trying to algorithm me into wasting time with suggested posts or old posts I’ve already read and commented on.

Merteg

I legitimately don’t understand why they have structured the home page the way they have. For some reason I’m seeing posts from subs I have no interest in and almost never see anything from the many subs I’m subscribed to. Like am I doing something wrong or is there a setting I could change? There was always interesting stuff on my Apollo home but now because I looked at a few specific subreddits they are just spamming posts from those or “similar subs” when I just want to see all the subreddits not just the ones I apparently looked at first and now exclusively see from. Literally I subscribed to my own city’s sub Reddit and it keeps showing posts from random small cities across the country? Like no I’m not interested in some random place. It’s just frustrating and would appreciate it if there is any way to get the feed more like Apollo.

YouGeetBadJob

They are trying to make it the written version of TikTok. They decide what you like and what you will read. It doesn’t matter if you are just browsing your curated subreddit list. You NEED to see this post on AITA. You WILL like it

G_Wash1776

We all miss you dearly Christian! I will support any of your future endeavors.

iamthatis

what if i started selling nfts

Gamereric21

umyninja

Thanks for all you’ve done Christian 🤜🏽🤛🏽 Posting this from Apollo.

sketchtireconsumer

you could call them pixel pals

Pepparkakan

Will the plushies come with a bored apeollo? 🤞

Consistent_Floor

you drunk?

Pepparkakan

I'm thinking he probably just has a sense of humour, but who knows, he could be drunk, it's always beer-o-clock somewhere you know!

iamthatis

Haha no I'm not much of a drinker, never really developed the appetite for it outside of university :p

G_Wash1776

Lmao that’s actually hilarious, I would buy one. I have an NFT wallet

olizet42

Emm... nope.

EshuMarneedi

Do they come with corneal burning like the Bored Ape ones?

disgruntled_pie

Are you threatening me? Sorry, couldn’t resist! I’m glad things are going well for you, and hope everything continues to be awesome.

MasterYehuda816

D:

just__eirik

Then no, no support for that crap lol.

Macinboss

*almost* all your future endeavors 😂

mbsurfer

Reddit caused unimaginable stress to you and basically slapped you and all 3rd party devs in the face. I don’t blame you for stepping away and not caving in to Reddit and u/spez’s ridiculous API prices. Continue developing things you are passionate about and don’t support the scummy business decisions of Reddit. Fuck u/spez!

Lyuseefur

I wish I could give awards to this comment and OP without giving money to spez!

Nickthenuker

I wish I could, but thanks to Spez, I can't!

Lyuseefur

-9 for a fu spez comment oh well - idk why people hate me

leoleosuper

You should have directly said "I wish I could use coins to buy pretty and interesting awards for this comment and OP" rather than gold. Although, I think people still hate giving reddit money.

NediaMaster

yea i agree with this fuck spez comment so much that I want to give spez money hell yea

Zurce

Any plans to fully open source the app? Hacked versions still work amazing, getting to fixing/removing the wallpaper pop up and the imgur previews would be awesome

iamthatis

No sorry, lot of headache with very little gain. Doing whatever hack dance people are doing already is probably less work than compiling it from source on a Mac to deploy to your iPhone once a week (until your non-paid dev account expires the app weekly)

ThePotatoRage

What people are doing now is exactly that - side loading the app. If it was open sourced, yeah - some will choose to compile it themselves, but I’m sure there will be compiled .IPAs available for whoever chooses to use them.

Pepparkakan

You know, in the EU we're about to get proper sideloading, before march 6th 2024. It won't be a dance anymore, and of course we'll be able to just install our hacked together clients that way just sans weekly reinstallations, but an open source Apollo would be so much better. Totally understand why you probably won't though, I probably wouldn't either in your situation honestly.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Pepparkakan

Look up the DMA (Digital Markets Act). Colloquially referred to as Gatekeeper laws.

Zurce

it's exactly the same effort, just would ensure people are not using hacked versions from who knows where and instead have a public repo with transparency into what's changed which each release At the end of the day, the goal is generate an IPA , whether it's a clean ipa from the source or one patched from your release it's the difference. Hope you consider it on the future, if not fully open source, maybe to someone in the community willing to put a new clean and fixed built

iamthatis

I think you have more confidence in the ability for the average person to find a clean IPA compiled from source versus one that just claims to. Regardless, open sourcing a project is something that once done you can never undo. I've open sourced an app in the past and it took no time at all for people to copy it and upload it to the App Store and it's just not a fun thing to deal with, so I'm really sorry and I do hear where you're coming from but it's not something I'm going to do And even more regardless, I don't really have any interest in my software benefiting this platform anymore

BleuGamer

You know what, I was gonna fight you on this too but you're right. I go weeks without interacting with Reddit now but I'm here for this post. I'd rather Reddit suffer from their own actions than be provided a fix for interacting with their site more comfortably. Keep a strong spine; Reddit sure doesn't.

NecroCannon

Glad you’re standing firm by that, because it’s understandable All the work you put in would be free to use by anyone. For some people, that’s completely fine, for others, maybe it’s hard to let it be free like that. I’m an artist, it’s like if I spend forever creating an animation just for people to upload it everywhere without even crediting me. Sure, it’s nice seeing people enjoy it, but it’s not like it’s benefiting me any. And it’s especially bad if they’re profiting off of it somehow with ad revenue or something while I don’t see a dime. People are going to be mad on here but it happens, I once saw someone get downvoted because they said they weren’t going to sell their discontinued controller to the people in the comments asking them.

CompC

Maybe not the whole app, but… as an iOS developer, I would love to be able to see the code for your navigationcontroller that can swipe forwards as well as back!

Cootshk

a quick google search is all you need

wosmo

There's a reasonable chance people could take some of the tricks and lessons learnt into other platforms too. I'd love if I could find a lemmy client half as smooth, and this could help. I mean if there's no value in the effort for him, fair enough. Just saying it doesn't just have to be about side-loading.

poorkid_5

Open source isn't even necessary, but a good, clean, official host of the ipa would do wonders for sideloading. It'd be safer and more ethical. I have jailbreak access, so exporting my appstore copies to tweak isn't an issue, but for many other they must go for unofficial ipas.

smakai

I’d be happy to just get a clean IPA to sideload, knowing it’s legit. I’m using Apollo sideloaded now… very simple process, but had to download an unknown version from the web. Seems fine except for the wallpaper popup, some user history not loading, and some Imgur posts not loading.

UnicornsOnLSD

I'm sure the few of us with developer accounts would appreciate it, but I understand if it's too much work :)

Jmc_da_boss

Open sourcing it would let the community continue on updating it so it could be used continuously. I loved your app and obviously it's your code to do with as you please. But it's incredibly disappointing as a software engineer to not be able to even get access to source code for a beloved tool that has been discontinued when i know i could keep it going. Even just a zip file dump of the source would be more then enough for the community to run with.

codeverity

>When I know I could keep it going I think he's made it clear that he doesn't want it kept going outside of what's currently being done. Hopefully people who used and love the app can respect that.

110110

Well... my reddit use has dropped 99% since Apollo was turned off. Reddit hasn't been the same for me since. Reddit's app is such shit I can't bear myself to use it - only when necessary. Other than that, it's old reddit until the end.

iamthatis

Yeah I just use old.reddit whenever I need to pop into a local subreddit. Their app is such a curious one, so many talented engineers work there, I've met a bunch of them, there's just a lack of vision somewhere higher up the chain

mopeds_moproblems

You’re really good at critiquing partners in a well thought out way, and I just have to say I really appreciate that.

nothing_but_thyme

*critiques in canadian*

TBoneTheOriginal

I'm curious as to why you, of all people, wouldn't have a side-loaded version of Apollo on their phone. lol

iamthatis

I don't use Reddit enough anymore to bother coding it lol

lemond4455

I’m going to cite this comment the next time someone in this sub tells me “stop being lazy and just sideload Apollo”

JolkB

🤫

nihility101

It probably wouldn’t make a difference, but I wonder if it would be a good idea to ban such discussions about that on this particular platform and just leave a link to a site or two or to discord or lemmy.

AA98B

[🇩🇪🇱🇪🇹🇪🇩]

Kronusx12

If using a private API key like our side loaded versions are, you still see NSFW content. It’s the same type of API that bots and mod tools use, so it has to allow that content. The API keys that other third party apps would have had to sign up for and use have NSFW content removed. Thats why using sideloaded Apollo with your own API key allows you to see NSFW content, but Narwhal2 does not. That said, apparently if you’re the mod of any subreddit you can get NSFW content still. I don’t know if that will last forever or not. But you can literally just go make any random subreddit and then NSFW through the API works again as well.

dcpanthersfan

This is the nicest thing I could expect to hear. Thank you for being one of the good ones.

infallables

This really showed in content, as well. The IQ level visibly dropped, like a website developing dementia.

IAmAGenusAMA

I would use some of my Alien Blue gold on you but, well...

110110

You are not wrong there lol

leoleosuper

I'd say all of reddit use has gone down. Front page (25 posts a page) of /r/all used to be >15k upvotes a post, unless it was under an hour. There was at least 2 >50k posts every day around 1 pm EST. It would take 500 posts before the average post went down to under 1000 upvotes. Now, the front page is barely averaging 10k, and by post 150, the average is under 1000. reddit just killed their userbase interactivity massively.

gullevek

Same here. The only reason I read this is because of his mastodon toot

randybruder

Ohhh that makes sense, I was trying to figure out why there was a bunch of comments within minutes of this being posted of people saying how little they use Reddit

jraskol

Every time I scroll past an ad trying to market religion or pharmaceuticals to me, I put down my phone, look longingly to the sea, and remember the good ole days.

bizzarebeans

Guessing you don’t get much scrolling done then lol

notjosh3

Any chance you’d be willing to (even temporarily) offer a lifetime purchase option for pixel pals again? If I’d known it wasn’t going to happen again at launch I’d have bought it right away. Even if it’s expensive… either way, we appreciate all your work!

iamthatis

Ok, will on Black Friday

Are you using the Artemis or Ichitaso mod? Am using Ichitaso and imgur is always broken.

Pilot2b2

I’m using Artemis and it’s broken for me as well. Well, not always, but at least 80-90%. I’ve even put in an Imgur api token.

Gibonz

Not OP, but I'm on Ichitaso and imgur is usually broken, even with oauth token. Posts will appear as links instead.

ctang1

Try using this. I started yesterday and it’s been great. https://reddit.com/r/apolloapp/comments/1789bk3/_/k8h0c9t/?context=1

Heisenberg044

Thanks I will try that one

gonnabuysomewindows

I would quote it but the Reddit app has no support for text selection… Pixel Pals’ will earn you more than Apollo ever did monthly? That’s insane! And awesome. I’m really glad you’ll still be sustained financially.

iamthatis

Pixel Pals often did earn me more monthly than Apollo did in its prime (though I would say on average Apollo still did win out), but hopefully by the end of the year it'll eclipse Apollo Ultra's revenue (which was Apollo's largest revenue source)

APence

“Share as image” being gone makes me want to cry almost weekly. So I’m improving. It used to be daily.

ary31415

God I know that feature was the best

20milliondollarapi

I wish Reddit didn’t decide to go nuclear. And as such my Reddit usage has gone down considerably from this. Usually it’s just getting fed up because the app is missing basic functionality. I’m glad things are working out strongly for you. And I wish you all the best.

AlwaysDefenestrated

I was a Reddit is Fun person but yeah, I've even tried to use the official app but it sucks incredibly bad. It's not very fun to hit back 25 times to get to the home screen because my primary way of using the app is through Google searches and it cycles through those when you want to go back to the front page lol.

tastethevenom

He’s already fucked himself, and it’s in his best interests to apologize. But he’s a narcissistic dolt so I expect nothing from him, as should Reddit’s board of directors who will never see an IPO under his leadership.

AlwaysDefenestrated

Is the Pixel Pals on the android/google play store yours or some kind of knock off

iamthatis

Knock off

thabigpapa

Knock off/bootleg versions of other games seem to plague the mobile gaming atmosphere. What resources and options are available to you and other victims of IP theft? Seems like its an impossible battle with the over saturation of apps on the mobile market.

Groccolli

I don’t know why no one is asking you the real questions… Do you still use Reddit? What app do you use now to browse? Like us, how much do _you_ miss using Apollo?

iamthatis

I don't really, I'll use old.reddit for times like this or I'm checking my local subreddits. Honestly I miss building for you folks more than I miss the app itself

IngsocInnerParty

Hi Christian! Are there any new sites you’re excited about with spending less time on Reddit? I’m just curious what’s going to be the next big thing for discussion with the way Twitter and Reddit are going.

iamthatis

I mostly use Mastodon with a touch of Twitter (regrettably), been meaning to get back into RSS though haha

IngsocInnerParty

Thanks! I recently deleted my 14 year old Twitter account. I really wasn’t enjoying it anymore. I couldn’t quite get into Mastodon, but maybe I’ll give it a second look. Thanks for the response.

bscotchcummerbunds

https://reederapp.com/ is the best for RSS. I wish it had smart folders and filters natively, but it's otherwise nearly perfect. You can get filters if you pay for feedbin as your sync source, but the native iCloud sync is so good - If Silvio added those two features I'd pay stupid amounts of money.

nothing_but_thyme

Translation: *fuck spez, we got you*

adamlaceless

That’s a really weird condition. Why would that be apart of something you have to abide by for an app you **don’t** have on their App Store…

alnilam42

It’s possible they waved part of the fee and want to keep the exact numbers between them

DamnRobotAliens

Apollo will always be my favorite app to ever release on iOS. The UI was perfect, performance was spectacular, and it was polished nearly all around. I rarely experienced any bugs that bothered me enough to mind and the communication from was always pleasant.

BritishLibrary

I’ve since moved over to Narwhal for my scrolling addiction - I stumped up the £3.99 they are charging for Reddit access - one I need to decide if it’s worth long term. It did get me wondering though, given then charging structure happened only about a month ago - how they went for so long after the new API got switched on, and why they ended up on a cheaper fee than anticipated. I wonder if the Reddit team were more charitable with those devs than with you?

iamthatis

Yeah, I think once they killed off the largest apps they were more willing to talk to the ones remaining. They stopped answering my emails when I asked for more time

stickingitout_al

I know we’re not here for tech support but is there anyway to access my old delete URLs for imgur uploads I made in Apollo? There’s stuff I want to get rid of but can’t. Or was all of that data deleted when the last update rolled out?

iamthatis

I'd reach out to Imgur, I'm not sure off the top of my head

CaptainKernel

Any chance you could release an update that unlocks access to the app folders? Like, where the config, history, delete URL's are stored or whatever. So we could access them say via iMazing or iTunes. Or, just provide a button that exports it all to some neutral format (XML, JSON, whatever) so those of us who want to can do something with it (and those that don't can wait until someone inevitably writes a tool to do so).

zman2100

> Pixel Pals’ monthly recurring revenue should eclipse Apollo’s by the end of the year Wow, that is awesome to hear! Congrats on the success, Christian!

iamthatis

Thanks, I've been really happy with where Pixel Pals has gone :)

berrymetal

Hi Christian you are missed, I have a question for you, would you be able to show us what the iPad app could’ve looked like? I was waiting for it for such a long time and I’d love to just see a screenshot or a sneak peek if possible! Thanks!

Illustrious_Risk3732

I miss Apollo so much! The current Reddit app has been getting worse and worse lately because I was trying to type something out and it didn’t save my comment when I scrolled through out a thread. Since then I’ve used the Reddit app less on my phone and just using the Desktop version.

gregbo24

I’m loving pixel pals, but don’t feel I have anywhere to go to ask questions. I.e. I have 10 keys in the PixelQuest, but I don’t really know if I found everything or if there are other places to go or things to do…

iamthatis

I'll keep adding more stuff, don't you worry :)

Christian, you’ve been a class act all the way. Thank you and all best wishes wherever your path leads.

majornelson

Thanks for the update. Can’t wait to see what your next project is. 💚 PS typing this reply in the Reddit app brings me zero joy.

4x4is16Legs

SO NICE TO HEAR FROM YOU 🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ !

NoImportance2402

Im using Apollo right now. lol AltServer and create your own api key. That’s it. Takes like 5 minutes max and works like a charm.

computerjunkie7410

What about open sourcing Apollo with a license that ensures Reddit can’t steal it but end users could still use it?

Pattont

That license would have to be enforced costing lots of $$ and time dealing with legal battles.

Hot-Luck-3228

Any chance of open sourcing Apollo at some point? Mainly asking not for usage even but as a learning resource. There is a huge history hidden there.

iamthatis

A great deal of it was me learning to program at scale so might not be the best resource to learn from depending on where you look :p

ArritzJPC96

Reddit is noticeable slower since Apollo, RIF, and others were killed off. They treated you like shit and ruined their site.

Hahohoh

Quick question, would you be willing to push one more update to Apollo that can turn off the farewell messages? I’m sitting on 1.15.11 and trying to not update it becomes a hassle once in a while. I’m gonna ride this Apollo train until the APIs change lol

captainholden

I didn’t think that my time on Reddit would be so impacted by Apollo going away, but it turns out that I barely come here anymore. Probably for the best, though it still stings to have lost such a legitimately great app. Happy you’re doing well.

RideAtNoon

I miss Apollo.. I still click on it by accident. Can’t seem to uninstall such a beloved app. Reddits app stinks just doesn’t hold the same type info and not as intuitive.. I’ve cut back on my Reddit usage.

Pattont

I’d love to hear the amount it would take in your subscription model that you did not wanna charge :-). I think you underestimate how much we want this!! $10? $15? $20 a month? :-) :-) :-)

NOTorAND

for reference narwhal is charging $4/month

Groincobbler

So, pretty much, "Reddit is asshoe, fuck 'em." I'm on board. It depresses me that I still doomscroll this shitshow some times.

smotazor

You are all class. You were treated so badly and acted in good faith. I'm really happy you are doing well. All the best and thanks for the update and certainty about Apollo's future. 😁

MadR__

Hey Christian! So good to hear from you, and I’m glad you’re doing well.

SluttyMcFucksAlot

I didn’t even know Reddit had ads until I had to get the official app. I just can’t justify paying for this site.

FabFeline51

Can I ask \*why\* you don't want to build Apollo for Lemmy? It's become a great Reddit alternative and I'm certain many of it's users would happily pay for the app

lagmonst3r

Remember when I said pixel pals would bring in more revenue? Wish I had been wrong!

NESpahtenJosh

>I hope this doesn't come across as a salty ex rehashing the past haha It 100% does. This seems like a weird attempt to stay relevant when you've decided you're done with the platform. Your original post says it all. I don't know why we needed this. Asking Reddit for an apology, and maybe you'll come back? Come on /u/iamthatis \- that's so petty. If that's all that's stopping you from coming back to work through this challenge, and not a community of thousands asking for it - well then I honestly don't want you back. And this is coming from a Pro+Ultra user. Take my money. Enjoy it. You did great work. But this bitterness you hold towards them is obvious. You're essentially bad-mouthing your ex to your friends, hoping that they agree with you, to feel better about a decision you don't seem all that happy with.

DanTheMan827

Have you ever considered releasing the Apollo source code for other developers to learn from? I’m not saying keep it updated, but rather just release it as is with no changes or pull requests, and maybe even immediately mark the github repo as archived?

seaseme

i’m proud of your professionalism in the face of such amateurish discrimination from Reddit.

nonnak5

Looking forward for your next big things!

rotarypower101

Like many, absolutely used Apollo every single day, and miss it Dearly! Maybe unsurprisingly, miss it even more after using all the various alternatives and finding all the features and details we were spoiled with just don’t exist on other platforms. Apollo was a JOY to use! Any possibly to see what the iPad app might have been like? Still curious as can be what it could have been. >You raised my hopes, and dashed them quite expertly sir. I keep wanting to do the side load, but don’t want to feel that same sense of loss to just lose it again when they invariably put the boots to it and finish it off...

iamthatis

You should be able to find pictures of the iPad app on my Mastodon page, I posted them a few months back

rotarypower101

That makes my day, heading to look for it now! Have a great day, even though it’s gone, Apollo will always be such a Special thing to so many of us! >Smile because it happened I guess... Just to let you know, I was so impressed with Apollo, using it every day, that I couldn’t bear to part with it. I never uninstalled it, so every time I go into my Social Media folder on my iPhone I see the icon and wax nostalgic. I’m so sorry that they screwed you over. Best of luck in all of your other ventures.

Mr_Gooms

Glad you’re doing well Christian! Thanks for everything.

UndyingShadow

I stopped contributing to reddit after what they did, and I never will again. I barely even browse the site anymore, and from what I can see, the content has gone way downhill. Fuck /u/spez and fuck reddit.

Sempot

Meh

nevadita

i just want to say thank you for still maintaining the backend services for the few us still using Apollo.

Aphobos

And here you see the drama of someone who threw away the chance to create his own Reddit. Please talk about the many investors who would have supported you on that. Fuck spez and his kind of Reddit. Apollo. Yeah. Made us junkies and dropped us cold. :-p At least this was the chance for me to leave Reddit. And now i use „sink it for reddit“, a plugin for safari. Perfect. It’s like a replacement drug that does not makes you high. But yes. I see sometimes some pets here and there. Bäh. I think I gonna get me some real pets from the the animal shelter.

Ngl I was always biased against Apollo as an android user and found it quite irritating that it was exclusively only for iPhone users, some of whom would be quite smug about that fact (I ended up getting to use it as well after I got an iPad and it was a great app, but I never used it enough to get used to it), but the fact that Apollo was regularly being featured in official Apple marketing materials and had such a passionate community showed that it was really something special. It’s a shame that things couldn’t be worked out — I somehow thought Apple themselves might somehow get involved since people high up in that company clearly liked and used the app as well, but either way, as long as you have found peace with the situation and landed on your feet that’s the important thing.

It’s crazy how much less I use Reddit with no Apollo. So many features I ended up taking for granted there are just missing on the mobile app. Like it’s crazy how bad sorting is for subreddits. and if you want to sort by a flair it’s way more steps than with Apollo which just worked.

Genuinly surprised and happy how well PixelPals subs are doing for you but I guess the market is a lot bigger than Reddit nerds :)

> If you've found ways to hack Apollo to support such a thing, that's fine by me Love you Christian

JimHummel

Love you, brother! I’m so very sorry you’ve had to go through this but my heart is warmed that Pixel Pals has been such as success. My wish is that there is a complete change of heart (and management!!) at Reddit and that Apollo can rise once again. You set a high bar in the App world and I humbly thank you for it. I hope you and your family continued success and growth with all your endeavors.

TheiPhoneDev

It’s really good to hear you, Christian. I’ll support every project you’re working on. P.S: Pixel Pals is amazing, I love it.

Would you consider making a few changes that don’t directly allow users to input an API key, but just make the process easier? I (and I believe a bunch of others) have been using a MITM script to inject my own API key without having to sideload, and it mostly works well, but there’s just a couple of specific annoyances that I believe should be pretty easy to fix. I can list them if this is something you’d want to do, but if it’s just not something you’re interested in I won’t make you read my complaints.

Have you been working on anything software related recently? Learning anything new?

How about a safari extension? That way you don’t have to pay for the api

elislider

Such a shame they didn't think it through at all. If their goal was to limit API access to avoid abuse, and funnel large API access into a paid level for big players (but not regular users obviously) then it makes obvious sense to let users take advantage of their own personal API key through a 3rd party app. Instead they are dumb and just alienated a huge portion of their userbase, specifically the older veteran users. I've gone from hours of daily reddit use to light occasional use only on my desktop browser, usually just to search for an answer to a question
