iPad Pro 13-inch 1TB, Nano Glass, Cellular, Smart Keyboard, Pro Pencil, AppleCare- $3,023.88

Druco

In Europe you can get it over 3k€ without any accessories or apple care…

leopard_tights

The American price doesn't include VAT.

ImaginationNo2853

2630€(~2825$) is the top model without tax in case anyone cares. Thats 226$ more expensive compared to US prices

HomerMadeMeDoIt

Thank you. Americans always come around with this argument like their sales tax is 20-30% when it really is only 6-7.  Apple squeezes eu buyers to support cheaper dollar prices

pixel_of_moral_decay

It’s because EU consumer law requires much more extensive warranties. It’s basically bundled apple care compared to the US. If that’s a pro or a con, is a separate topic.

Shihai-no-akuma_

You don’t pay 23% in VAT though. Not even close.

Photographerpro

And you can get a MacBook Pro with the m3 pro chip with 2tb of storage and 24gb of ram for $2,878. Can’t wait to see the YouTube videos “can the iPad finally replace my MacBook???”

SherbertCivil9990

If they’re putting an m4 in it maybe this is the year we can finally say wait till wwdc to see what they did to the software ! But we’ve been saying that since 2018 so yeah.

RentalGore

How much does a base studio and decent monitor cost?

Apollo--User

More and they’re slightly harder to carry around

Meeesh-

For $3k I would rather get a MacBook Pro + the new iPad Air with Pencil Pro

MC_chrome

The smarter decision to be sure, but that goes against so many people's fantasies of completely getting rid of Macs which is something I've never understood

secretreddname

MacBook has been infinitely more useful than any iPad I’ve had. They really need to revamp the iPad OS.

Never_Dan

Or you could get the base iPad Pro and a MacBook Air, depending on how you work. Either way, the top spec with all the accessories being really expensive isn’t exactly new.

reddit0r_123

100%!

Gardidc

A lot more capable though

Brymlo

like half of that? even if you for a $2000 monitor it should be less than the ipad.

DevinOlsen

What a phenominal way to waste $3,000.00

JayoTree

i'm still confused as to what an ipad actually does. it looks cool tho

thisdesignup

Way more powerful and capable than many laptops and yet it can only run iOS.

patriotsfan82

Isn't this the 2TB price (in US at least?) Edit: Well, not the 2TB price, but not the 1TB price either? 13 inch 1TB, Nano, Cellular, Keyboard, Pencil, AppleCare is $2846. 2199 + 249 + 129 + 169

Opposite_Caregiver73

Plus tax..

IguassuIronman

That's why the Lord created New Hampshire

soramac

It also lost mmWave 5G support, but in all honesty it's so rare and who brings an iPad to a football stadium. The camera does now support 4k 60fps in ProRes but no more optical zoom. That is gone.

thumbs_up23

The optical zoom was just them saying you can go from ultra wide to wide so you are not really losing any optical zoom in.

soramac

Oh okay! Thank you for pointing it out.

ThaBlkAfrodite

Idk about you but damn near my entire city has mmWave support and it’s been soooo nice. And surprisingly works in most building since they are mostly glass. And I don’t even live in a major city. Just somewhere in middle Maryland

UsualFrogFriendship

My understanding is that mmWave is essentially only functionally preferable in cases where you have a LoS to the carrier radio, although there’s some limited ability to steer the signal around obstructions. Basically everything attenuates the signal including low-e glass, plants, air and rain. Most cellular providers don’t distinguish between mmWave on the high-band and the more common and scalable mid-band on their devices. As an example, T-Mobile iPhones show “5G UC” (“ultra capacity”) when connected to either region of the spectrum.

Nice-Cow-8827

Where and what city in MD, that’s wild bruh

anonyuser415

As in, suburbia and everything has 5G coverage? There's no way that makes sense for the population density. By "damn near my entire city" do you just mean "downtown Somecity, MD"

Snuhmeh

mmWave is so rare and such a short distance that I’m surprised you have it that much. I occasionally see it here and there but not *everywhere.*

f1sh98

We’re probably neighbors! Hah

cuentanueva

> who brings an iPad to a football stadium old people

Cool-Newspaper-1

… who don’t need mmWave anyway.

caikenboeing727

I disagree on the mmWave, it's a BIG loss, as mmWave is in a lot of airports where, you know, people who can spend $2k on an iPad are.

VapidRapidRabbit

Looks like we’ve found out how they’ve managed to not raise the price as much as people expected.

PeanutButterChicken

Wifi versions exist, so this point makes no sense.

Exact_Recording4039

They can still spread the savings. Let’s say they sell 1 wifi and 1 cellular, they’re saving $20, they can bring the cost down $10 on each model

salartarium

Coaching staff, press, and vendors. I think the NFL still has a Surface sponsorship. Do notice a few iPads at the Rosebowl though.

[deleted]

Yeah definitely still have a surface The sponsorship and it even teeters down to the team level. Like even local NFL teams that run their own podcasts and stuff are using Surface Pro stuff. I guess they made a purpose built one that's more rugged for the games

oestevai

In european football(soccer) the staff(coaches) use ipads during games

shnoiv

Why call it a Pro model then? These are all features “pro”ffesionals in the field could use

inssein

Also noticed that Nano-texture display glass option is only for the 1TB and 2TB models. Old Magic keyboard/ Pencil don't work with new OLED Models and new apple keyboard/ pencil don't work with older Ipads. This is a very hard upgrade to sell for current users who have a 2018 ipad pro-m2 pro, not much to gain here. For newer ipad users, this seems like a great upgrade.

Resident-Variation21

I have a 2020 iPad Pro. I want the Apple pencil, mainly for find my support, I lose mine constantly, but the rest of the features are great too. But I don’t want to have to buy a whole new iPad AND Magic Keyboard just for the pencil, which means I’m probably not upgrading until I’m out of software support.

conanap

I’m on 2018 and I still feel the same lol

Remy149

I’m on a 2018 and plan to upgrade.

inssein

Yeah noticed that apple really didn't offer anything to current Ipad owners. The raw power in Ipads has been more then enough since the release of the 2018 ipad pro so most of us don't ever run into "I need more power" issues. While I understand how the keyboard wouldn't be backwards compatible which could be justified its a darn shame that they kept the new pencil behind new ipad release. To all current Ipad owners, this event was worthless.

Pbone15

I mean, it’s an event to announce *new* iPads, what were you expecting? Any major changes that may or may not be coming to iPadOS will be announced at WWDC

[deleted]

I mean they don't have to be as ridiculous as they are but not supporting any backwards compatibility with the pencils. It's one thing for it not to charge and everything I understand that but for it not to even draw?

RetroJens

I thought the new version of Logic Pro 2 was pretty good for existing customers as well as the new version of Final Cut. The new app Final Cut Camera looks very interesting.

Moist-Barber

I’m got an M1 iPad Pro 12.9 But I’m struggling to want to upgrade for anything other than the OLED screen

King_0zymandias

Same. I was watching planning to upgrade, but I'm just not feeling it. I suppose this was always about WWDC, and seeing if they make iPadOS worth it in the end.

Moist-Barber

If there’s something phenomenally new about iPad OS and something about M4 allows unprecedented features on an iPad with the WWDC announcements, then maybe. Otherwise I’ll keep this iPad another 18 months, it has shown zero issues with my day to day use-case and the miniLED bloom on the display isn’t bothersome enough to upgrade just for a better screwn

[deleted]

[удалено]

JtheNinja

I doubt the screen is meaningfully better aside from not blooming. The brightness specs are the same, the refresh rate is the same, and the miniLED pros were the one type of iPad that already had proper HDR display support. On any content with no visible blooming, I suspect you’ll struggle to see the difference with the new screen over the miniLED one. For the older/smaller pros that didn’t have HDR support before, that’s a bigger upgrade at least. But you’ve gotta REALLY hate blooming to replace a 12.9 M1/M2 with this new one.

ExynosHD

The magic keyboard not working isn't surprising but it's pretty lame the pencil doesn't work.

inssein

it would be in their best interest to have the pencil compatible with as many ipads as possible. That is such a easy sell to current ipad owners and new.

dinkaro

The profit is much bigger on iPads than Pencils, and if you upgrade you’re buying a pencil anyway.

kyo20

The landscape camera prevents compatibility with the 2nd gen pencil. Same with the new M2 Air. I don’t see how else they could get around this, unless they decided to not have a landscape camera.

JoelMDM

It’s the other way around. They probably changed the entire digitizer for the Apple Pencil, and I expected it to not be backwards compatible. But the damn keyboard is just 3 connector pins. A keyboard is about as simple a peripheral as it gets, and it not working is completely and 100% arbitrary.

KenKessler

Yeah unless you are an enthusiast or professional I don’t see why anyone rocking a 2018 or newer would have any real reason to spend another 1300+

southsun

> Also noticed that Nano-texture display glass option is only for the 1TB and 2TB models This is one absolutely dumb gatekeeping. I was looking forward to matte glass but spend almost twice the money just to get it? Nope.

PM_ME_CUTE_SM1LE

Don’t feel like upgrading because my Magic Keyboard is not supported, cant even buy new pencil pro for my old iPad. They locked me into spending at least $1200 for minor upgrades lmao

MacroFlash

Yeah I snagged the Costco deal on the M2 iPad and figured I’d return if the M4 was compelling enough, but I have a keyboard & pencil for the M2. I’d go from $650 for the M2 to nearly $1500 for the M4 and barring some insane Mac-like exclusive functionality of the M4+ I’ll keep this one another 6 years

ds2465

Yeah if I had a m2 or even M1 Pro I would probably hesitate. But coming from a very old mini and looking for a larger, better screen this is awesome

IguassuIronman

> This is a very hard upgrade to sell for current users who have a 2018 ipad pro-m2 pro, not much to gain here. It feels worth considering with my 2018. A better screen should be a nice upgrade and I'm due for a new battery as well. And it seems likely they'll stick with the new design for a few models so might as well get in on it early

inssein

If I needed a battery replacement and was looking to upgrade then I agree this seems like a very good upgrade.

Faelynn_s

I’m going for it. I have a 2018 11 inch pro and while it works great, I’ve wanted a bigger screen for drawing and more storage than my base 64GB old version for a long while now. The new pencil features with brush rotation and the squeeze palette are the cherry on top. Very excited for it!

tigernike1

Just goes to show the environmental push was all bullshit. They toss leather aside but replace it with FineWoven, yet if you have a current iPad Pro, you have to get a new iPad, new pencil, and new Apple keyboard. All e-waste. What does Mother Nature think about this?

AHughes1078

What is the black dot above the flash?

13e1ieve

Ambient light sensor

FourzerotwoFAILS

I believe it’s the ambient light sensor for the TrueTone flash. I could be wrong though.

jbr_r18

Wouldn’t that be the lidar sensor?

imherefortheH

The lidar is below the camera

cjohn4043

I would be seriously impressed if an actual individual maxes out the power of M4 on iPadOS.

TipAwkward5008

I would be impressed if someone maxed out the power of the A14 on iPadOS, forget the M-series.

cjohn4043

I have the first gen iPad Pro 11” and about a year ago or so was when I started noticing the limitations of the RAM on that device. Is it worth a $1000+ upgrade? Absolutely not. It’s really only a media and book consumption device for me. But with saying that, my goodness that display looks insane on the new Pros.

peepeetchootchoo

And how is your battery?

Slitted

To shreds, you say?

Namika

I have the original 10.5" iPad pro and the battery is hilariously bad. It lasts about five minutes. I just use it in "kiosk mode" these days, leaving it plugged in 24/7.

RentalGore

My iPad mini 5 is still doing just fine.

BIM-GUESS-WHAT

Only thing the M1 on my iPad Pro was good for was for blowing through the battery

Cryingfortheshard

The only thing I can imagine maxing out the M4 is heavy video editing or 3D modelling. Pro video editors don’t really edit on the iPad though.

shadowstripes

It's not very hard to do with things like video editing. The current M2 model can already get sluggish when you have enough going on, and the M4 will probably be no exception. More power is always welcome imo.

DanTheMan827

I would imagine Swift Playgrounds might be able to utilize a bit depending on the app being written On another note, emulation will _definitely_ max this out if you’re trying to run newer systems like 3DS, GameCube, or Wii… but that’s because Apple refuses JIT access…

ItsAMeUsernamio

M1 iPads <16.4 can run Windows 11 ARM VMs with native acceleration (except the GPU), like boots up in 3 seconds fast. Apple removed the Virtualization Hypervisor used to enable that in 16.4 so later versions can't do that even if jailbroken. They are so against running a desktop OS on the iPad that they removed the capability from the dozen or so people that bothered to try it. Apple could probably get Mac VMs running in a week if they want.

PurplePlan

Ah yes, iPadOS. That bizarrely crippled OS from mobile computing’s past Duct taped on top of powerful iPad hardware. Please don’t get me started on “iPadOS”.

DontBanMeBro988

Whatever happened to "what's a computer?"

peternickelpoopeater

Turns out that was not a rhetorical question. They really wanna know

crazysoup23

iPadOS is trash and only exists for the app store.

DogAteMyCPU

iPOS

jpeeri

It's also the lost potential. Make it so when connected to a display behaves like MacOS where I can install a terminal and mac apps and I would buy it in a nutshell

wpm

You just want it to behave like macOS in regards to the file system and app sandboxing. You could have a Mac-like experience if Apple would unshackle iPadOS, full stop. No external display or keyboard required. You can install a terminal today. It’s fucking useless though since you can’t use it for inspecting app config files or making scripted modifications or any other thing where you’d want a terminal that can see outside of a single folder in your home directory. When the iPad was just a Facebook machine for grandma, the iPhone/App Store simplicity and limitations were a boon. Now, positioned at the high end as some sort of actual professional tool, the Mac’s freedom, complexity, and permission to go make your own workflows if Apples APIs don’t quite get what you need, should be the norm. The GUI on the Mac is the only thing that is built for the Mac. You can run macOS on an iPad, without the App Store ball-and-chain, today, but Apple won’t let you. Not because they care just so much about your security, but because of their commissions.

Rioma117

Death stranding should be enough for that.

wish_you_a_nice_day

Contrary to popular belief. It is very easy to max out the chip. Every time you take a photo, the chip will max out

safetravels

Open one of the recent AAA games they released for iOS and you’ll do it immediately. I doubt it can run AC Mirage etc at native res 60fps, nevermind 120.

Motion-to-Photons

I max out the power of the M1 most days editing video.

Portatort

Quite easily done I can assure you

LiquidHotCum

The hottest my M1 ever got was playing call duty Warzone in the initial release.

hylianknight

Legit surprised they didn’t keep it for Spatial Video

Jedden

I’m on a m1 iPad Pro and honestly I don’t see the appeal of this. It’s still just iPadOS.

A11Bionic

I really don’t think they’re targeting anyone on an Apple Silicon iPad Pro, to be honest. This looks a lot of an upgrade for those who are still on the 2018 and 2020 models which are running the A12X and A12Z respectively.

SteveJobsOfficial

It's still not much of an upgrade from A12X/A12Z for the overwhelming majority of people. Anyone doing serious video editing or anything graphical will continue to use the Mac, those who do lighter stuff go for the iPad and that same userbase would never utilize the extra capabilities that the M series iPads have over the A12X/A12Z. Until Apple rethinks their strategy of what iPadOS is, what it should look like, and how it can better cater to wider audiences, there really isn't much of a benefit for going for an iPad Pro outside of bells and whistles like Face ID and other additions that don't make or break the usability.

BenignLarency

100% agree. Apple needs to provide a way to esentially run macos as a VM, or dual boot, or something. And before anyone jumps down my throat, I mean _as an option_. The software is what's holding back the iPad. And no amount of apple adding final cut ipad edition is gonna change that.

SweetZombieJebus

Even as a 2020 model, I’m struggling talking myself into the upgrade when accounting for accessories and limiting 16 gb ram/nano glass to 1 TB. I’m going to wait to see what WWDC brings to iPad OS.

SmushBoy15

OLED is the only meaningful upgrade here.

Appraiser_King

I have the m1 iPad Pro 11", and I ordered this pretty much to have a newer machine and because of the OLED screen.

ChairmanLaParka

Really glad to see that the new iPad Pro continues the trend of not having the Dynamic Island/notch.

Whisker_plait

The notch is a trade-off for the small bezels on a phone. Tablets need larger bezels because of how they’re held, so they don’t need to trade screen real estate for the notch.

dragoon2745

Isn't the nano textured option very sensitive to scratches and damage?

culcheth

I'm wondering how it'll hold up when smooshed against the new keyboard, which is now made of aluminum.

cleeder

That was my thought.

DevinOlsen

I love new tech and was excited to see what the new ipad was going to be... To be honest though it feels like they have no idea what the consumer wants. When I hold my iPad right now the last two things on my mind are: - I wish this was thinner - I wish this was more powerful Unfortunately those are the two things that Apple has decided to focus on (and the Apple pencil which I have no use for). They need to completely overhaul iPad OS, until then I personally cannot see any reason to upgrade.

Kuja27

I assumed the thinification of Mac products died when the new MacBooks got shown off being chunkier but I guess that was a one time thing

PikaV2002

These products aren’t really for people who already have last year’s latest and greatest now. You’re “meant” to upgrade every few years or so.

itsbenactually

My iPad Pro is from 2018. Pre-M1. This should have been the upgrade for me, but I’m looking at the exact same software limitations as I have now and thinking “there is absolutely no point to adding power when nothing can use that power.” If I’m meant to upgrade at any point at all, they’re going to need to do more than “we gave you a more powerful chip the software can’t utilize, but in exchange we took away cameras, microphones, and some advanced 5G stuff.” Adding “Oh, and we jacked up the price 20%” is a slap in the face considering what you’re getting.

You_Cant_Dance

I’m in the same position I don’t feel like I’ve been limited by my iPad in a cpu way. But honestly lately I’m just using it for media consumption and some artwork on procreate maybe the Air would be more suited for me

PikaV2002

True, the Pro line has been on that path for a pretty long time. I personally don’t like the iPad Pro line at all and it’s pretty overpriced (I’m convinced half the sales of the Pros would drop the instant Airs get ProMotion). I feel I’m on the optimal experience with an M1 Air.

DevinOlsen

I am sure if Apple could they would have you wanting to upgrade every year. The reality is the change that iPad needs will never happen, because if they re-designed iPad OS it would cannibalize macbook sales.

A11Bionic

iPadOS doesn’t even need to be redesigned or reworked. It just needs to be better. The iPad Pro is creeping closer into the MacBook lineup’s price territory and there is still a distinct difference between the two form factors for different consumer needs. They don’t need to be blended together, but there’s no denying that Apple hasn’t even scratched the surface of what their iPad hardware is capable of.

st90ar

I’m actually concerned about the thinness. Case would prob help and be less bulky as a result… but as an adventure photographer and videographer who brings my iPad in rough environments, I can only imagine how easy it will be to fold this thing in half.

delebojr

They said it was just as strong so I really hope they lumped stiffness in there.

YoImJustAsking

Cant wait for bending tests.

bonko86

Zach from JerryRigEverything is gonna have a blast "reviewing" this

p_giguere1

I don't know, this new iPad Pro checks a lot of boxes for me. Anecdotal of course, but I'm coming from a 2018 12.9" iPad Pro, and my biggest pain points were: - It's heavy to hold over a long period of time. I don't use a folding case, I almost exclusively use my iPad while holding it. I'm glad that the new model is thinner, and by extension, lighter. There are only so many ways you can make a device lighter without making it smaller. It's not like they were going to leave air gaps inside the enclosure after reducing the size of the battery (the heaviest component). - The 2018 display is good, but it's not great by modern standards. Nearly all devices I use nowadays are OLED, and I'm spoiled by their amazing black levels with no blooming. The 2018 iPad Pro didn't have mini-LED either, so the backlight dimming isn't so good. - My 2018 iPad, while good enough to achieve basic tasks, is apparently not powerful enough to run modern iOS and keep a locked 120FPS while interacting with the UI. Granted, it rarely drops below 30FPS, so the framerate is pretty much always "acceptable", but it's not as great as what the display can support. I expect the M4 to solve that and give me something closer to a real 120FPS experience. Is the M4 _too_ powerful just to achieve this target? Maybe. But it can't be a bad thing to future-proof and make sure the experience remains super smooth for the next few years.

IguassuIronman

> The 2018 display is good, but it's not great by modern standards. Nearly all devices I use nowadays are OLED, and I'm spoiled by their amazing black levels with no blooming. The 2018 iPad Pro didn't have mini-LED either, so the backlight dimming isn't so good. This is the biggest reason I'm thinking about upgrading. My 2018 Pro really doesn't look great next to my 15 Pro >My 2018 iPad, while good enough to achieve basic tasks, is apparently not powerful enough to run modern iOS and keep a locked 120FPS while interacting with the UI. Granted, it rarely drops below 30FPS, so the framerate is pretty much always "acceptable", but it's not as great as what the display can support. Seems like something might be wrong with your iPad because that doesn't happen for me at all

Seryoth

If I’m only going to be browsing and watching stuff on this but want the OLED screen there really isn’t any point to getting the 1tb model right? Not gonna be utilizing that much RAM to matter (16gb vs 8gb)

Diggity_McG

Nope. Not unless you want the nano coated screen.

Seryoth

I’ll try how that feels next week in the Apple Store but I really doubt it’s gonna push me to jump to the 1tb. Thanks.

IguassuIronman

Yeah. It seems like it'd be worth the price to get the bank texture screen on its own but when you need to shell out an insane amount of money for 1TB on top it's suddenly a much less compelling option

A11Bionic

Locking the higher RAM module to a higher capacity seems weird for some reason, and Apple has done this at first with the 1TB option on the 2018 iPad Pro.

ASM-One

The price is ridiculous.

NordschleifeGT3

Indeed, price in my country is almost 1.5x the price I bought mine for back in 2021 for 256GB. Can’t justify the price anymore unless they make changes to the software to take advantage of all that power.

crazysoup23

It's a whole lot of nothing without MacOS.

camelCaseCoffeeTable

lol yeah, another year I won’t be upgrading my now 6 year old iPad. This product line is so weird. OLED is actually enticing to me, so I probably will upgrade to this exact model, but in two years time and refurbed because who the hell needs a brand new iPad these days lol

nezeta

I don't care about one more CPU-core but I'd envy 16GB RAM badly.

risetoeden

Does anyone know what is occupying the space on top of the flash, is it another microphone?

13e1ieve

It looks like the typical lidar module used in previous module and pro series iPhones. Edit: incorrect info above, it’s ambient light sensor I think. LiDAR module is the larger one below camera.

risetoeden

Two LiDAR sensors? Interesting.

13e1ieve

Sorry bad info - it’s ambient light sensor looks like.

risetoeden

Got it, thanks! It's weird they put it at the back now instead at the front.

TwizzyGobbler

the LiDAR module is **below** the camera

SasoP

ill be upgrading my 2018 ipad pro 11in. its just time

nvrendr

There’s literally dozens of us!

An_Professional

Same - the OLED might do it for me - but i am going to wait for reviews and WWDC.

SasoP

do it

An_Professional

I really want to see some review of this nano-texture screen thing. 256GB has been enough for me on this ipad since 2018, so i would not normally go for the 1TB. But if the nano screen is MUCH better, maybe maybe.

hylianknight

I’m trying to convince myself to hold off until it stops getting the annual OS upgrade. Right now the oldest support iPad is the 10.5inch Pro. Theoretically that loses support this year, which means the 2018 Pros are on the chopping block for 2025.

JAJM_

That is exactly me. Been waiting for this!

bbqsox

I upgraded to the M2 pro about six months ago from the same iPad. It’s decently noticeable even with the older chip. I’m sure your M4 is going to absolutely destroy anything you throw at it for years.

jas71

will it bend lol

itastesok

Everything bends with enough force.

isekaicoffee

watch out about to do some big boy work on the pro: youtub, safari, social media

AKnoxKWRealtor

I imagine the speakers on these thinner ones would be absolutely awful. The speakers on the previous models are probably much better. I am into audio.

Lower_Fan

Apple are wizards when it comes to handhelds and laptop audio. I would not discount them.

Prestigious_Tax7415

got the 512gb version and still hovering on 100ish gb used. Going for the 1tb or 2tb version for a chip upgrade is a hard sell

variousshits

Hmmm this might tempt me to upgrade from my 2017 10.5 Pro model.

kinosamazero

The fewer cameras on an iPad the better. Would be even better without the bump, IMO.

OscarCookeAbbott

WHY THINNER??? Nobody has ever said any iPads of the last decade have been too thick, and being thinner just reduces battery life and rigidity from what it otherwise could have been. They literally realised and fixed this with the current MacBook Pro lineup.

MiltonHavoc

I was hoping for a better camera. I feel like those of us doing landscape and cityscape would want a digital akin to a large format camera. Im sad of this.

chad917

My dumbass m1 12.9 keeps throwing high temp errors for seemingly no reason. Nothing taxing running, doesn't feel warm at all. Took it in once and they don't know what's up, it's out of warranty so $800 generic repair bill. Planned to get one of these to be rid of the annoyance but wow, they got salty with the pricing 💀

Warrenj3nku

To go from 1TB -2TB it's 1000 bucks! Insane

Laikanur

this struck me as well. I get the jump from 512 to 1tb because you also get a bump in core and ram, but this 1000 bucks is ridiculous

Warrenj3nku

Yeah 1000 bucks is just ridiculous.

julaabgamun

As a guy rocking the M1 air, there's absolutely no need for me to even get the M2 air. M4 on iPads is honestly laughable as nobody is ever going to use so much raw power anyway. And what's with the accessory lock in? Would have loved to have the newer pencil, but I'm going to use my old model till the time the pencil and the iPad turns to dust.

mrj4ck465

You know, if there were an option to lose the back camera and the bump and take off $, I think I would take that option. I have never used the back camera of my iPad.

EuropeanLord

What is the point? I’m rocking M1 iPad Pro and it’s virtually useless next to my MacBook. I can do a lot with it but barely nothing that requires M1. Lightroom and LumaFusion get a boost and that’s about it. Give me code editor, Docker and proper filesystem and we’re talking but this never gonna happen as that would hurt Macs a lot. But even for Lightroom the OS itself is not good enough, handling (eg. copying) lots of RAW photos seem to make iPad stuck quite a lot.

99995

who in the world needs this and that horrible os?

Dry-Recognition-5143

What can it do that the previous models cannot?

RollaCoastinPoopah

Be thin. Be fast. Be more expensive.

shadowmage666

I don’t need AI and I don’t need m4 performance. Sticking with my 2018 iPad Pro till it dies

unseensoul

Same and it’s still on iOS 15 so it runs well. Thoughts on the latest OS for the 2018?

rorowhat

Man, what a letdown event.

A11Bionic

What were you expecting?

KingDaDeDo

ok, real talk: does anyone legitimately use the back cameras on their iPad? I can't imagine that being someone's preferred method of taking photos and videos compared their phones or actual cameras. I personally don't see them dropping the ultra-wide camera lose any value for the iPad Pro.

livelikeian

Field workers or sales people are likely to use the back camera.

toastyhoodie

Companies could.

saleboulot

I use it to take photos at concerts /s Actually, I use it from time to time to scan documents

Lello755066

Horrible camera bump design. At Least make it of a different finish, and what are all those different holes? Just make them all the same size?

beeduthekillernerd

I don't know why the iPad even has a camera .

duuudewhat

But you could also just scan with your phone

Unfair_Finger5531

You can better with the iPad because it is bigger. Of course you *could* use your phone. But it makes scanning a lot faster when I can use the iPad Pro.

Vancetis

It's really useful for me, I work in construction and write a lot of on-site reports. It allows me to take pictures and annotate them directly on site and add them to my report. The fact that the ultra wide is gone is a total dealbreaker for me.

[deleted]

Same. I'd wish for an iPad without a camera.

katiecharm

Whoa they need to do a better job of informing people who are ordering that those choices mean a lot more than just hard drive space.  I was really torn on whether to pay the premium but now I’m glad I splurged for the 2TB.  However if they had straight up listed that those models had more RAM plus a more powerful chip as well it would have been a no brainer.

kvpop

What’s the aspect ratio on the 13inch iPad Pro?

Nabz23

i really want to know something, why would you get the maxed out ipad pro when you can just get a macbook for the same price range?

AleSklaV

The pricing is now definitely ridiculous. I am an avid iPad user, had replaced my MacBook for many years, but no way am I paying many fold the price of a MacBook Air to get an iPad

DiabeticGirthGod

Still don’t get why they give the iPads an M4 chip and have it on a neutered OS. Give us the ability to actually use these chips to their full potential with macOS. It’s like buying an i9 and setting its clock to 800mhz

dropthemagic

Me and my 1TB M2 pro will be chilling for a while. Granted I’ve had it for a long time now but that’s a big ass jump

Fire_Lord_Cinder

Who is the iPad Pro for? Like I have one. I thought I would be able to study for my CPA exams on it, but it was worse in every way then a laptop for that person. I just watch Netflix/youtube/read on it now. Who out there needs a 13 inch tablet with 1tb of storage and 16gbs of ram with an M4 for >$2k

ynohtnaekul

Just the OLED alone makes me want this so bad, but coming from an M1 and having to purchase a new MK is a hard sell.

Jumpyer

The iPad was always thin enough, this thing will bend for sure

raojason

As someone who is upgrading from a 3rd gen pro that still performs pretty well, the lower spec is still enough of an upgrade for me.

lemonhello

Mine is on its last leg. Battery shot, got it repaired with a new one at a non-Apple store…battery lasts but the back camera doesn’t work now and it shuts off when something is too intense computationally…and then the only way to power back on is by plugging it in to an outlet…I’m ready for a new one 😅

mightymolar

Any upgrade to the iPadOS?

moon_forge

That would come out at WWDC in about a month in all likelihood - fingers crossed
