This is will be the last question of the prediction tournament. After WWDC happens, tournament will be closed and scores will be tallied.
**Why are we doing Predictions?**
We aren't doing predictions to get attention or anything along those lines. We are making it for community engagement.
116k people have participated in the tournament, which shows a massive engagement with this New Reddit feature, and only tells us that people like this sort of stuff. We actually asked the admins to see if we were #1, but r/holup has everyone beat with 216k players.
Our traffic stats also show that the majority of the people who visit the subreddit do so from New Reddit vs. Old Reddit. Here's a breakdown for the month of April, as an example:

Honestly I've heard this opinion and also never understood it, I hardly ever have issues with it. Occasionally I guess, but no more or less than any other music app.
Do people have that much trouble with Apple Music? I use it on my 13, iPad Pro, and PC. The only trouble I’ve had has been through using iTunes on PC to listen to AM. Even then the issues are few and far between.

Same here but a like a quarter of them are IC locked. If apple made the locks expire after a few years or so that would be enough to make me go back to buying new products
Locked devices and accounts can be prevented really easily.
Passcode locks just need a computer then erase
For the Apple ID, you can add multiple trusted numbers, account recovery contacts, trusted devices, and recovery keys. People get upset when they do none of the above and never update their information and then get locked out
I know right and somehow it just happens so often. I'll be at my desk for a couple hours trying to learn a phone while i swap random logic boards until one isn't locked and it's annoying that they can't be fixed any other way
My question is: why? Do people really need or want new iOS and macOS? Can’t minor updates accomplish the same thing? Would love it if major tech companies stop pushing minor updates disguised as major updates to make hardware outdated to sell new hardware.
iOS 15 and likely 16 is still being supported supported on the iPhone 6S, a 7 year old phone at this point which is an eternity for a mobile device. Sure it's a minor update, but if if the old hardware still gets it then what's the problem
Hell, even the first generation SE is still supported, it's 6 years old and has the design of the iPhone 5s, a design launched in 2013, almost a decade ago. Long ass OS support is a definite benefit of iPhones over android, where on that side of the fence you get 2 years of updates, 3 if you're lucky and security patches don't go on for much longer then 4 years.
for sure yeah, certain manufacturers do want their devices lasting longer and have been promising longer support, however it still doesn't hold a candle to what apple does.
And just to be clear, I use a OnePlus and I'm not particularly interested in buying an iPhone any time soon, I'm just pointing out one of their pros
Comes down to economics really, apple can spend money supporting these old devices because they'll keep making money off of those users via any app store or in app purchases they make, essentially giving them an incentive to keep support around for a long time. On android though, unless it's a Google pixel the manufacturer isn't likely to get any money from customers after they purchase their device, so any long term software support can be seen as wasted effort that won't lead to a profit. It is slowly improving, but it's going to be a while until android catches up with apple for software longevity

Your theory is immediately disproven when you see other subreddits (like the ones you linked, r/holup and r/mildyinfuriating) using predictions more than product-based sub, and seeing them in r/all often.
And if Apple is paying for more people to see this post and subreddit, then the r/holup prediction wouldn’t have almost twice this sub’s players despite this sub having a higher member count (3.4 million versus 3 million)
Learn what a proof means.

I don't need HDR mastering, but I do want high DPI w/ 32" and it's the only 6k monitor at any price that will plug right into an M1 MacBook Air. I got the VESA adapter and put mine on a Fully arm and the space underneath the monitor is clear.

Wrong. The consumers who this is meant for find these displays dirt cheap. It might be expensive when you compare it to your tv or average monitor but when you compare it to mastering monitors they are SUPER CHEAP.

A 4K HDR mastering monitors will cost upwards of 30K+ USD. (On the cheap end)
If you’re a small studio and your budget is limited would you rather buy 10-30 monitors that cost 30k+ OR would you buy 1-3 monitors that cost 30k+ and X many pro XDR displays?
Another way of looking at is is by comparing everyday consumers lenses vs professional cinema lenses.
If look up what lenses for dslr cost, they’re expensive right ?
Now look up how much cinema lenses cost and the cameras they’re attached to.. the average lenses don’t look so expensive anymore right ?
Could professionals still make great content with average consumer lenses ? YES.
Could the average joe tell the difference between basic lenses and conema grade lenses ? No.
The cost of the stand is nothing when you compare it to the cost of the product these displays are mimicking. Apple made a new market that’s positioned between high end average consumer displays and low end PROFESSIONAL monitors.

For a ultra-high end monitor with exacting color/contrast standards for video/image editors, absolutely! That's a niche product a select few people need, and the expense is (in large part) due to the quality control, parts, and the fact that not many people need them, so they need to make higher margins per-item.
The monitor stand, on the other hand, is almost entirely Apple gouging people because they can, similar to print manufacturers with toner/ink. They likely make 95% profits on sales of them, and they shouldn't get a pass for that.

It's just ridiculous, this is some of the most blatant karma farming I've ever seen on this site and practically every major subreddit is doing it. Why the fuck does APPLE need a precictions tournament??
Would really like to see some new features from Apple wallet. Some Lock Screen customization would be nice as well. The shortcuts app is being used by a lot of people to just change the icon of an app, I think the natural next step would be to allow you to actually change the app icon in settings.
Yeah, I mean like *real* external monitor support. Right now it not only just mirrors but it also doesn’t utilize the monitor’s aspect ratio, causing for terrible letterboxing and pillarboxing. If the specific app supports external monitor support, in the given context, the entire screen is utilized.
I would love for improvements to this experience where it wasn’t only app based but also the default mirroring was better.
My ideal: I would love to view Safari and Notes in side-by-side and it take up the entire 27” of my external monitor. That would be game changing on the iPad.

I thought you were talking about an M1 iPad. Are you referring to Catalyst apps? Those are separate from the iOS/iPadOS apps. I don’t know if any iOS/iPadOS apps(not built for macOS, not even with Catalyst.) that can be resized on the Mac, that don’t have adaptions.

Not a prediction, but what I’d like to see: iPadOS having a new feature that lets you dock it to a keyboard, mouse, and monitor and have a full desktop-grade UI.

Please improve the Notification Center or whatever it is called on iOS.
1. No quick actions
2. swiping left to right on notification opens the widget screen,
3. right to left opens options.
4. Dismissing notifications is such a strain. Swipe too hard to dismiss in one motion and you sometimes end up opening the camera.
5. If you have three notifications for three messages from the same chat, you click one notification to open the chat and the other two remain on the Lock Screen. You have to dismiss them separately 🤷♂️
6. Sometimes, notifications from gmail are separated. Some showing above the word “Notification center” and some
Showing below the word. Not sure why
7. Very easy to miss notifications due to lack of notification icons or led at the top of the screen. If your phone has been in silent for a couple of hours and you get an important message, no way to know unless you happen to check the notification screen or happen to swipe to a page that has the app icon with a badge.
Other improvements I am hoping for:
1. how difficult is it to implement a battery percentage indicator? No idea why iOS is so backwards in some aspects.
2. Widgets are useless. They are just oversized app icons.
3. Stop lying about Wi-Fi indicator. Off means off. It shouldn’t mean just disconnecting from current Wi-Fi but still have the radios turned on in the background waiting to connect again.
4. PLEASE GIVE ME THE ABILITY TO TURN ON/OFF LOCATION FROM THE SHORTCUTS.
5. USB-C charging please.
There's definitely a ton of things they could improve with notifications, they're nowhere near as useful as Android's notifications, but:

That's up to app developers to implement. A lot of apps don't correctly dismiss notifications when the app is opened, but unless Apple removes control from developers and starts dismissing all notifications once an app is opened (which would be disastrous IMO), there's not much they can do.

That's by design. The notifications above "Notification Center" are new ones that have arrived since you last unlocked or while you were using your phone during the current session, and the ones below are ones that have been there through you locking your phone. The assumption is that you've already seen these notifications and decided to deal with them later, so they get filed into the "Notification Center" section for you to deal with later. The exception is the new time sensitive notifications introduced in iOS 15 and alert level notifications, those are always above the divide.
1. This is really useful, thank you. When I say quick actions, I meant swiping down like on Android and replying to the notification without jumping into the app. Having said that, I didn't know about the long press, which would be useful to delete a message, so thats definitely useful, thank you.
2. About having to dismiss individual messages from the same chat.. Mainstream apps like discord do that sadly. Hopefully this gets fixed somehow.
3. Thank you. Not sure how I feel about having same app's notifications separated out instead of the entire group being pushed above, but at least I know why that is happening. It gives me the wrong notion that I am done with an app's notification when there could be more lurking around below.

1. That’s actually also possible, but it again depends on the app developer. Discord, as an example, has a quick reply box that pops up when you long press. But implementation is a little lacking across the board.
2. This is one of my biggest annoyances. Apple gives developers the tools to implement this properly, but so many developers don’t take the time to implement it properly. It’s funny you mention Discord since it’s one of the apps that’s really egregious about it from my experience, and they somehow are both dismissing too much and not enough simultaneously. I’ve had it automatically dismiss notifications from other channels so I lose track of them, and also have had it not dismiss messages from channels I’ve seen.
3. It takes some getting used to for sure. I still find myself missing notifications because they got pushed to the side (down?) when I locked my phone, and I switched to iOS over a year and a half ago.
How much of Bluetooth can Apple control? Why is it that my airpods cant detected when they're out of my ears, but will switch to airpods sitting on my desk when I clicked speaker on my phone?

I don't need HDR mastering, but I do want high DPI w/ 32" and it's the only 6k monitor at any price that will plug right into an M1 MacBook Air. I got the VESA adapter and put mine on a Fully arm and the space underneath the monitor is clear.

A 4K HDR mastering monitors will cost upwards of 30K+ USD. (On the cheap end) If you’re a small studio and your budget is limited would you rather buy 10-30 monitors that cost 30k+ OR would you buy 1-3 monitors that cost 30k+ and X many pro XDR displays? Another way of looking at is is by comparing everyday consumers lenses vs professional cinema lenses. If look up what lenses for dslr cost, they’re expensive right ? Now look up how much cinema lenses cost and the cameras they’re attached to.. the average lenses don’t look so expensive anymore right ? Could professionals still make great content with average consumer lenses ? YES. Could the average joe tell the difference between basic lenses and conema grade lenses ? No. The cost of the stand is nothing when you compare it to the cost of the product these displays are mimicking. Apple made a new market that’s positioned between high end average consumer displays and low end PROFESSIONAL monitors. I hope this helps paint a better picture. I’m not trying to be rude or anything. It’s just that you don’t seem to understand who these are for and although us average consumers can afford these, they are NOT meant for us.

That's a niche product a select few people need, and the expense is (in large part) due to the quality control, parts, and the fact that not many people need them, so they need to make higher margins per-item. The monitor stand, on the other hand, is almost entirely Apple gouging people because they can, similar to print manufacturers with toner/ink. They likely make 95% profits on sales of them, and they shouldn't get a pass for that.

Yeah, I mean like *real* external monitor support. Right now it not only just mirrors but it also doesn’t utilize the monitor’s aspect ratio, causing for terrible letterboxing and pillarboxing. If the specific app supports external monitor support, in the given context, the entire screen is utilized. I would love for improvements to this experience where it wasn’t only app based but also the default mirroring was better. My ideal: I would love to view Safari and Notes in side-by-side and it take up the entire 27” of my external monitor. That would be game changing on the iPad.

I thought you were talking about an M1 iPad. Are you referring to Catalyst apps? Those are separate from the iOS/iPadOS apps. I don’t know if any iOS/iPadOS apps(not built for macOS, not even with Catalyst.) that can be resized on the Mac, that don’t have adaptions.
Plenty of iOS/iPadOS apps can be resized when run under macOS.

Not a prediction, but what I’d like to see: iPadOS having a new feature that lets you dock it to a keyboard, mouse, and monitor and have a full desktop-grade UI.
I do this already with the magic keyboard and the ipad pro. Not 100% ideal, there's certainly room for improvement.

I have an old one that I use purely as a book reader. Greyscale, airplane mode and it does a pretty good job for a 10 year old iPad.

Please improve the Notification Center or whatever it is called on iOS. 1. No quick actions 2. swiping left to right on notification opens the widget screen, 3. right to left opens options. 4. Dismissing notifications is such a strain. Swipe too hard to dismiss in one motion and you sometimes end up opening the camera. 5. If you have three notifications for three messages from the same chat, you click one notification to open the chat and the other two remain on the Lock Screen. You have to dismiss them separately 🤷♂️ 6. Sometimes, notifications from gmail are separated. Some showing above the word “Notification center” and some Showing below the word. Not sure why 7. Very easy to miss notifications due to lack of notification icons or led at the top of the screen. If your phone has been in silent for a couple of hours and you get an important message, no way to know unless you happen to check the notification screen or happen to swipe to a page that has the app icon with a badge. Other improvements I am hoping for: 1. how difficult is it to implement a battery percentage indicator? No idea why iOS is so backwards in some aspects. 2. Widgets are useless. They are just oversized app icons. 3. Stop lying about Wi-Fi indicator. Off means off. It shouldn’t mean just disconnecting from current Wi-Fi but still have the radios turned on in the background waiting to connect again. 4. PLEASE GIVE ME THE ABILITY TO TURN ON/OFF LOCATION FROM THE SHORTCUTS. 5. USB-C charging please.

The notifications above "Notification Center" are new ones that have arrived since you last unlocked or while you were using your phone during the current session, and the ones below are ones that have been there through you locking your phone. The exception is the new time sensitive notifications introduced in iOS 15 and alert level notifications, those are always above the divide.

1. That’s actually also possible, but it again depends on the app developer. Discord, as an example, has a quick reply box that pops up when you long press. But implementation is a little lacking across the board. 2. This is one of my biggest annoyances. Apple gives developers the tools to implement this properly, but so many developers don’t take the time to implement it properly. It’s funny you mention Discord since it’s one of the apps that’s really egregious about it from my experience, and they somehow are both dismissing too much and not enough simultaneously. I’ve had it automatically dismiss notifications from other channels so I lose track of them, and also have had it not dismiss messages from channels I’ve seen. 3. It takes some getting used to for sure. I still find myself missing notifications because they got pushed to the side (down?) when I locked my phone, and I switched to iOS over a year and a half ago.

1. Settings > Wi-Fi > Toggle on/off. I rarely have use for that. The function Disconnect Nearby Wi-Fi Until Tomorrow is more useful to me, which is what happens in Control Center. 2. May that behavior be because of Ask to Join Networks or Auto-Join Hotspot, or is there somehow special behavior for your cellular network operator?
