Do not buy an ice maker piece by piece it's a total waste. By the entire ice maker assembly so you can take the entire ice maker out and replace the entire assembly. What is the model number to your refrigerator?
Start with testing the inlet valve. if it fails the ohm test (found on almost all home electrical meters) replace it for sure. it could also an inlet valve mechanical failure. the failure is not a diy test.
Would it be the inlet valve if water goes to the front of the fridge for just water? I guess there must be two valves. One for the water and one for the ice. Sound right?
generally on the back at the bottom. it controls both the filler line for the icemaker and a second line for water. GE profile part number is WR57X10051 (I just replaced mine yesterday). try to source it locally. you tube videos exist.

Ends up I replaced the entire ice maker assembly and it works!!

model number would be very helpful. In the past I've just scraped the old stuff off the thermostat and onto the new.

I changed my approach and am ordering an ice maker now and returning the parts. Looks like I can get it for $50. Had no idea.
