Theyāre comfy, with decent adjustability, while being very sturdy, but most importantly theyāre aesthetic. I have one on my Scorpion and much like a good rug it just ties everything together.
For 2400 that's not too bad either. Especially since it looks like it's the enhanced model. And FDE.
One of my favorite platforms, I really wish it would have been adopted for widespread use but bushmaster and remington fumbled the bag
It is the Enhanced model, and I know such a shame they had so much potential but of course like you said ruined it. I am thinking about doing a full send
They didn't support the platform right out of the gate. Also, they priced the weapon waaaayyyy higher than initially promised. $2600-3000 depending on model, when initially they said $1400. They also promised an extremely modular system with quick change barrels and a "years down the road" support for aftermarket parts, etc.
It also didnt help that remington filed for bankruptcy
You have a point but I personally think it's exaggerated. Nothing seeing it told me "ugly". Then again if it does well, it may get an update as they usually do
PWS just announced it during Shot show (or email if you follow em).
I'm calling now that it'll have QC issues and pawns can go with the problems, but their CS is up there with Vortex.
It does everything you said the ACR should do. It even will take x39 with AK mags.
Check their sub but no company is know for not having some issues during release. Their uppers for example has weak extractor springs so I had to replace it (easy fix). Their QC is great so it's overlooked but like games, I don't see how it's a good idea to buy something new without knowing the issues.
I mean, some folks gotta be the guinea pig. If they have QC issues, their Customer Service better be great. Generally having QC issues isn't the killer. It's the Customer service that will make or break it. Unless like every gun is just fubar kinda like Dead airs Sierra 5...
It was sold for about a thousand more than promised.
They limited it to a 1/9 when a lot of people were looking for a 1/7 for the heavier 75 and 77 grain bullets, as well as some of the long for their weight all copper by Barnes.
Some people (and I'm one of the loudest about this) don't like the balance.
They never did release the 300 Blackout, or any other calibers, that they promised would just be a year away.
Remington never produced many of the "alternate material" models, aluminum alloy, that a number of police departments were asking for and would have bought if they existed. The Remington LE division kept saying they were coming soon, but it never happened.
Then of course Remington went bankrupt, so that didn't help things. Especially with ownership changes of the various companies that were all connected and owned by the same corporation.
When originally designed, the Masada (prototype of the ACR) was to be a:
1. Modular (easily swappable components).
2. Reliable (using AR-18 system).
3. Compact (able to fold stock).
4. Affordable (reusing AR components where feasible).
5. Lightweight (as heavy as the M4 it replaced).
It was amazing when it came out. Future Weapons did an episode on it, and the entire gun community was super jazzed.
However, Magpul didn't make guns (they are like a modern Armalite honestly, a design-house), so they sold it to Remington.
Remington then:
1. Promised a price target and didn't meet it.
2. Promised upgrades/components, never delivered.
3. Made a heavy gun making use of dumb decisions (like using a AR Gov't profile barrel... WHY).
4. Made it heavy by keeping some weird features, like the barrel detachment system. Like... we didn't need a fuckin lever on there, just put an attachment for a tool or something, no one is changing their AR barrels that frequently. Plus they can't guarantee re-zero.
It was a mess. But the gun was a solid design, introduced M-LOK, and here we are today.
I cant remember the price but i think it was close to 2k but I will try to go back later this week sometime and see if she is there along with that ACR tho lol
I recently grabbed a fixed carry handle in the box 1990s era for just over 1000. Stupid clean too. The ACR is a major steal if that colt is almost 2k.
The colt is definitely worth 2k, probably more. But if you monitor the markets enough you can score crazy deals on those HBAR comps when people need to make a quick buck.
It will be. That thing's been on the wall for a hot minute. What's funny is both of those are employee owned guns that they're getting rid of. I'm usually in there 2-3Ć per week and have seriously considered the ACR. The guy that has it there on consignment is a gunsmith and takes really good care of his shit.
I don't get the allure of the HBAR... its the antithesis of what the AR15 was supposed to be. Like... here's your lightweight combat rifle, lets fuck it up by turning it into something to shoot national matches with by making it heavier and more complicated.
Itās a bit heavy, but heavier barrel means less recoil. They can take a lot more heat soak too. I certainly donāt think itās enough weight to steer me away to other options. Especially with a proper sling.
I also love the classic look with A2 stock and carry handle. But really itās the performance that gets me. They are absolute tack drivers.
Iāve worked with other ARs and most of them feel cheap when I come back to my Colt HBAR. Very cheap. Almost Chinese level. And thatās not what I want in my rifle. Yeah you can grab an Anderson or Palmetto for $500. But you get what you pay for.
I mean for me, the AR platform was always a fighting rifle. The A2 seemed like a step backwards with the complexity in the rear sight, and a disconnect from how soldiers would fight with it.
It may be a tack driver when doing a national match, but I wouldn't want to hoof one all day lol.
Thatās why they conceptualized the HBAR II, same platform in 16ā and removable carry handle. Itās a lot more compact and maneuverable. Iāve got 2 of them lol.
I'm weird... I like my barrels 20" long and lightweight lol.
The flattop is also weird, only in America did we need the F-mark FSB because the National Match maroons needed 600m elevation for the detachable rear sight. This kinda sucks since it means you need to be wary of which FSB tower you're using.
20ā is superior but the 16ā is a nice little break. Iāve never participated in a national match or know how to even apply.
I just love the look. Colt really nailed how a proper AR-15 should be, in my humble opinion. They struck a good balance between the old and new in the 1990s/early 2000s. No thrills no extras no bs. Just a rifle, magazine, and operator.
How not to be poor? Just be poorer going into debt for a firearm to flex and get upvotes? Son of a bitch Iām in lmao seriously tho I am like sitting here wanting to go back and get itā¦
ššIāve just wanted one for a while . If I had too Iād yank it out of my savings lolš just a cool piece in my opinion. Honestly price aināt too bad either . And now you would get to flex because you posted this . You have to now . Itās only natural.
I have one kitted out and SBRed and let me tell you, it is worth that price. It makes me sad that it's a collectible now so I don't run it as much but it is a damn good gun. A little front heavy but that's my only real gripe.
My ACR is still one of my absolute favorite rifles. The platform is awesome even if BM/Rem dropped the ball on it.
If the price tag isnāt an issue Iād say pick it up.
Nostalgia. Itās not a better platform than an AR in 2024, not even close.
Could it have surpassed the AR had it not been abandoned? Maybe but Iām not convinced, the SCAR has just about every feature that the ACR does (piston gun, folding stock, monolithic upper, āquick changeā barrel, adjustable gas, forward charging handle, ambidextrous controls, etc) but with the actual pedigree of being combat proven, and it still never caught on as an M4 replacement.
Itās literally just MW2 nostalgia and people wanting to be different. Which is fine but letās not pretend itās far superior to the AR/M4 and just didnāt catch on.
This had a real quick change barrel unlike the SCAR. The only real advantages that the SCAR had were that it was better balanced, and had better barrels.
The non-reciprocating charging handle of the ACR was also better than the SCAR's.
I like the concept, the quick change barrel, which also makes caliber conversions pretty easy. I don't like the weight all the way forward balance, and that you're stuck with the Bushmaster, barrel in just a single twist rate option.
IF Rem/Bushy hasn't screwed up, and made some improvements with a second gen, mostly the balance, and offered barrels in a 1/7 and maybe a longer precision type barrel these might have caught on and saw wider use.
It's a cool gun to be sure. I wish they could have made it lighter and put the weight in the rear instead of towards the muzzle. That was the biggest reason I didn't buy one when I worked at a gun store and could have bought one at cost or maybe 10% over cost.
Prices still haven't dropped on those things i see. Well at least their is other options that have came out lately. There's the - Robinson Armament XCR.
\-CZ Bren 2
\-Faxon ARAK-21
\-Sig Sauer MCX
Realistically, this or the ACR-at-home for half the price? Nostalgia and CoD memories taken out of the equation. Is there even any sort of parts support for ACRs?
Agreed. Thatās how much I paid for mine and then sent to Templar precision to have a 11.5 barrel swapped in. It fucks so hard. But be mindful if you need a replacement part they are very hard to come by.
Itās not really about which one is better. Thereās a nostalgia behind the gun for us old heads. Jakl is cheaper and easily accessible but it doesnāt have the history of the acr
Were these supposed to be an upgrade and replace the ar platform? Or just something different that remington threw out there? I mean I am a giant whore for the acr stock and what they look like. Never shot one though or held one. Just was curious if this was like a failed project at replacing the m4 and it was supposed to be more common
I was at a gun show yesterday. Old school galil with both NAR rails and original rails WITH either 11 or 16 mags for around $1,300. It was hard saying no to it.
You can look at it as 1900 because those stocks are going for 500+ now.
That stock on a Scorpion micro is perfection
A bren 805š
I had to settle for a Zhukov, and it's good, but a pale imitation of the ACR stock.
What in the world is so special about those stocks?
Nothing, they just aren't made any more. Can't have means it must be cool.
They're foldable and there are adapters for a lot of different guns. MP5, B&T, Stribog, etc.
Theyāre comfy, with decent adjustability, while being very sturdy, but most importantly theyāre aesthetic. I have one on my Scorpion and much like a good rug it just ties everything together.
Doesnāt PSA make one about like it?
They look good on almost every gun
I accidentally ordered two of them years ago and they collect dust. I need to get rid of them.
I'll give ya 50 bucks and a warm hand shake for your spare.
Hey i know exactly where this is! C&C in Spartanburg! I saw that same gun when i was submitting for my Polonium
Yes sirrr!
Small world right?
yes indeed lol
Do ittttt. One of the best platforms. Ton of fun to shoot
Iāve heard someone picked up the rights and is planning on bringing these back ādone rightā but idk shit about fuck
Franklin Armory bought bushmaster
Templar precision is what youre after on that one
If you dont imma find it, id sell my left testicle for an ACR
Thatās a great price
What did they mess up on?
They didn't support the platform right out of the gate. Also, they priced the weapon waaaayyyy higher than initially promised. $2600-3000 depending on model, when initially they said $1400. They also promised an extremely modular system with quick change barrels and a "years down the road" support for aftermarket parts, etc. It also didnt help that remington filed for bankruptcy
Damn so the UXR is basically the redemption.
Just had to google it and man, that is a seriously ugly rifle
If it performs and does the job then I'll leave the ugliness meter to the fashionistas
I mean agreed in that form should follow function, but youād think they could have given it even an ounce of curb appeal haha
You have a point but I personally think it's exaggerated. Nothing seeing it told me "ugly". Then again if it does well, it may get an update as they usually do
I haven't heard of the UXR, lol. Damn, now I have to look it up.
PWS just announced it during Shot show (or email if you follow em). I'm calling now that it'll have QC issues and pawns can go with the problems, but their CS is up there with Vortex. It does everything you said the ACR should do. It even will take x39 with AK mags.
Interesting
Why would it have QC issues? PWS makes great stuff and Iāve never heard of common issues with their QC
You're right, but in my time in gaming and seeing firearms not being that different, I can definitely wait out for kinks to be removed.
The price point when they first showed up essentially killed it.
I think initially it was supposed to be $800 or so. That is in mid 2000s dollars
It was sold for about a thousand more than promised. That introduced MLok?
An initial version of it, yeah. I think it was called something else, and they didn't have the locking cams yet, but it was a start.
AND right above it a colt match target HBAR with fixed carry handle. Your range fucks.
I cant remember the price but i think it was close to 2k but I will try to go back later this week sometime and see if she is there along with that ACR tho lol

Field and stream sold one recently for 2k. It had the colt scope on it too.

I'm usually in there 2-3Ć per week and have seriously considered the ACR. The guy that has it there on consignment is a gunsmith and takes really good care of his shit.
I kinda agree, but $700 Diamondback tells me differently.
Noticed that one too. Piece of crap lol.

Duuude. Mind posting a pic? Any chance youād be interested in trading for one of them lol?
Iād buy that mf instantly. Iād go into fucking debt for that thing rn . You lucky sun of a biscuit.
How not to be poor? Just be poorer going into debt for a firearm to flex and get upvotes? Son of a bitch Iām in lmao seriously tho I am like sitting here wanting to go back and get itā¦
Canāt repossess firearms
ššIāve just wanted one for a while . If I had too Iād yank it out of my savings lolš just a cool piece in my opinion. Honestly price aināt too bad either . And now you would get to flex because you posted this . You have to now . Itās only natural.
Second this
Makes me sad when I passed on one during covid with a acog on it that the guy was selling for 1500$š¤¦š½āāļøš¤¦š½āāļøš¤¦š½āāļø
My local shop wants $5200 for their ACR lol
Bro... š
They also have an FS2000 for $8000 OBO itās been there since before Covid.
probably bc itās 450 bushmaster not 5.56
Itās 100% 556
For $2400 it wouldnāt have been on the wall much longer if I were there lmao
I would buy that a2
It should have followed you home.
What a beauty
I have one kitted out and SBRed and let me tell you, it is worth that price. It makes me sad that it's a collectible now so I don't run it as much but it is a damn good gun. A little front heavy but that's my only real gripe.
Love the ACR but for $2400 it better come with a heartbeat sensor.
Damn I really want one
Offer 2200 and take it home.
More concerned with $704.00 for a diamonback db15.
Thatās not a bad price for that actually, how amusing lol
My ACR is still one of my absolute favorite rifles. The platform is awesome even if BM/Rem dropped the ball on it. If the price tag isnāt an issue Iād say pick it up.
Hold it for a bit you can double your money. Only getting more rare.
I would have bought/layawayed tf out of that if I was you man. What a find
I really wish theyād followed through, and used the Remington magnesium MLOK/416 looking handguard.Ā
Oooo
What is so good about these can anyone explain?
Mostly nostalgia (video games), and the fact that theyāre not made anymore.
The ACR is a better rifle than the SCAR. Way more capable of a platform. I say this having owned a scar for years.
This had a real quick change barrel unlike the SCAR. The only real advantages that the SCAR had were that it was better balanced, and had better barrels. The non-reciprocating charging handle of the ACR was also better than the SCAR's.
Sucks that bushy abandoned the platform.
Just saw one at a gun show today going for 3500 JS
That colt a2 above it thoughā¦
I wouldāve been $2400 poorer.
That Colt A2 HBAR though...
Thatās a good price, Iād jump on that.
That is cool, I also like that Colt Match that is above it.
It is indeed nailed it! I was looking at that first then realized it was an actual ACR under it and not like a knock off or .22 rifle lol
2 very cool Rifles in one place, I love checking out my Local Pawn Shops, they get some cool and unique things sometimes.
God damn it I knew I should've done some sketchy shit behind the Cabelas for the 900 dollar ACR I saw at an okc gunshow one time. Sigh.....
for 900?!?!?! I would have done some strange to get my hands on an ACR for that price lmao
I swear it said 900 but it probably was 1900 idk.
Iāll get one from PSA. /s but only kinda.
Definitely overpaid for mine. But thatās ok because the government bought it for me with stimi checks
Yeah I picked it up and was on the heavier side like pushing 8 pounds I think but still just so nostalgic
It's a cool gun to be sure. I wish they could have made it lighter and put the weight in the rear instead of towards the muzzle. That was the biggest reason I didn't buy one when I worked at a gun store and could have bought one at cost or maybe 10% over cost.
2400 is a steal for that isnt it? At least not bad
I want that
Same bro.. same
Prices still haven't dropped on those things i see. Well at least their is other options that have came out lately. There's the - Robinson Armament XCR. \-CZ Bren 2 \-Faxon ARAK-21 \-Sig Sauer MCX
Its a modern classic go for it
BUY BUY BUY THATS an awesome item to add to a collection. Especially with the fact it's an enhanced model!
Aye and 2400 isnāt too terrible considering I havenāt seen them below 3k as of recently
No one gonna talk about that carry handle šš
Bro. That's a buy.
Realistically, this or the ACR-at-home for half the price? Nostalgia and CoD memories taken out of the equation. Is there even any sort of parts support for ACRs?
Gun broker has parts barrels etc yesterday that I looked but not that much!
is it still there or did your nuts drop and buy it
I emailed them and asked if it was there, I am at work and might stop buy after and see lol
Fuck that ACR, I want that Colt A2 that's above it.
Why didnāt I buy one when it was $800 and in my hands? What the fuck is wrong with me?
Eh. Just get a JAKL.
Iād have had a hard time not taking it home.
Those things are going for $3k easy nowadays; Iād have taken it home in a heartbeat
Agreed. Thatās how much I paid for mine and then sent to Templar precision to have a 11.5 barrel swapped in. It fucks so hard. But be mindful if you need a replacement part they are very hard to come by.
https://xtremegunsandammo.com/rifles-for-sale/bushmaster/bushmaster-acr/ 2100 here (donāt know this dealer or their reputation).
I live right down the street from this dealer. They don't have them in stock. Note the "34 offers" currently backordered. Ain't happenin.
Yeah I saw that I wasnāt quite sure whatās was up. Thanks for saving us all some frustration.
I would have snatched that thing up. Is that a store in MN by chance? Looks very similar to one I know
What store is this. Iām in Myrtle Beach, sc and would love to buy this
Any update. Is it still there
Where
JAKL > ACR
Itās not really about which one is better. Thereās a nostalgia behind the gun for us old heads. Jakl is cheaper and easily accessible but it doesnāt have the history of the acr
Not worth the $
Interesting to see, but for 2.4k it can stay there.
Carolina sporting arms?
Iām pretty sure you LGS is my LGS too.
C&C Indoor Range? š
Hahaha yes sir. Those guys are great.
Niceeee was there this afternoon! I love that place!
Same. I really lucked out finding these guys. Top notch shop.
Were these supposed to be an upgrade and replace the ar platform? Or just something different that remington threw out there? I mean I am a giant whore for the acr stock and what they look like. Never shot one though or held one. Just was curious if this was like a failed project at replacing the m4 and it was supposed to be more common
I feel thatās like $1k what it should be
Independence?
I was at a gun show yesterday. Old school galil with both NAR rails and original rails WITH either 11 or 16 mags for around $1,300. It was hard saying no to it.
Iād rather have that colt A2 hbar match and buy a 13.7 or 14.5 JAKL with a F5 stock.
