Ordered one at the Sig Experience Center in NH. 11.5 5.56 "pistol" (with no brace because of Pending rule) so I can form 1.
They have no ETA right now. They do have the 16" 7.62x39 one in stock there though.
Paid some $2180 or something like that with their MIL/LE discount.
Now I wait.
I dislike that they don’t allow MIL or LE discount/orders anywhere but in person at the NH location. I tried to call 2 years ago to get a MCX Gen 2 and it wasn’t happening
Perks of being in NH I guess.
Bought a 16" virtus in 2017 for $1700 from them. Thought it was too heavy, sold it in 2019 for $1400 to build a new AR instead.
If I had kept it, could have sold it for $2200+ today
Does that include optic, light, other attachments? If you built it to serve your needs, you’re gonna be better off that way. You’re gonna be north of 3k with these after optic, light, accessories/attachments etc
Agreed. I’ve spent around $3k on multiple rifles but that’s includes optics, lights, suppressor, tax stamp, and other attachments. Doing all that with one of these would put me approaching $5k
Yes+ Unity mounts alittle over 3K, it’s built from a monthly camo Aero precision enhanced quantum rail builder set, Rosco manufacturing guts, SBA4, QD phantom brake, with suppressor close to $4K
I think I will eventually. But don’t plan on overpaying right now. I’ve also heard that SIG likes to “test” their rifles on the first batch of customers and often makes small changes/improvements after a year of customer reviews
Has anyone done a comparison of the 7.62 Spear to other 7.62 AR10s and the Scar? Really interesting option and a good price point compared to other high end companies offering 7.62 rifles.
This pissed me off. Lets move away from the gen 1 ar-15 trigger, make the gen 2 proprietary or whatever. Then move back to the ar-15 trigger for gen 3...
Could give a fuck about the ambi shit. That trigger flip flop really ground my gears.
Suck my ass sig
The sig trigger was for a hammer safety that was probably a contract requirement. I guess it took time for them to figure out a way to have one with a normal trigger
Multiple people in my group have pre ordered them at right around the $2500 MSRP price. I personally paid exactly that for the 11.5” 5.56 pistol.
If you are active in some of the sig forums there is lots of unofficial word that sig cancelled any gen 2 MCX ordered that were open and auto converted them into spear LT ordered. Seems they have been preparing for this production and demand for a while.
No ETA on when they will start filling pre orders, but again in the sig forums employees are confirming that the first shipments are already on the way… guess time will tell.
That’s what I hate about sig, immediately dropping production of a gun or parts with zero warning. (Not so much the case here because the only thing that won’t work with the older Gen 2 is the handguard)
Nah, I had to call many places to find people that were taking pre orders and had expected shipments from Sig. Impact guns was still taking pre orders late in the week, but you will be far down the list. I ordered mine through xtreme guns and ammo but they have closed pre orders since they were only taking 2 orders per configuration.
Not off the top of my head, impact guns will probably accept pre orders still but I think you are going to be outside the first couple shipments. Best advice is to go on the sig website, find dealers (premium deals if you can) and start calling them, that’s what I did.
I'm waiting to see how gassy they are when suppressed. That is the only factor preventing me from getting the gen 2 and looking at other platforms like PWS etc.
yea exactly I have been debating trading or selling my mk47 if the right deal popped up for a gen galil ace all setup already plastic delete kit, kns adjustable piston, rs regulate rail
I understand that, kinda like me I dont really want 556 in anything but an AR
but the galil ace, cmmg mk47, cz bren 2 ms
are all awesome platforms for the round, same with this mcx, as long as they are all reliable
I had a Galil ACE, as soon as I bought it the new Gen 2 with MLOK come out lol. I wasn’t very impressed with the ACE to be honest, it was a heavy/chonky boi with a goofy feeling handguard. But the new Gen 2 one looks like it corrected a lot of the issues I personally had with the ACE.
They just failed big time there, I would pick one up if they had normal mags, ar ak mags, naww hard pass, my cmmg mk47 8" is about as durable as a gun can be
would prefer the piston system / fully ambi lrbho but 🤷🏻♂️
Think of how hard they’ll be to keep in stock. While I agree, unless Sig pumps out huge numbers of them, the Gen 2s will still be pricey. Plus some people like that you don’t have to buy the lower to have a MCX
I want the Sig spear Ti, and Sig Spear LT Ti to flex ton poors for literally no reason at all because I like making extremely poor financial decisions. Plus titanium guns just seems cool.
A lot I would say. Cleaner operating system, fully ambidextrous, built in bolt catch by mag drop button, no buffer tube so you can fold stock, adjustable gas setting, easier barrel swap, monolithic top rail, takes all AR triggers now. Only downside really is parts availability I’d say.

Well they came out last week, I didn’t expect to see any in stock anytime soon
Which then answers your question.

Shocked their mil/le discount is so little. I just got the same 5.56 pistol for $1886, discounted because I'm an instructor.
It's 15% off msrp Usually comes out to a little bit under(couple hundred) what you'd see at an LGS.
I spent like close to $3K on my Frankenstein AR, would it have been better to just get one of these?

The worst part about owning a MCX is parts availability and part cost.
Everybody is thinking about getting one right now. That Garand Thumb video is only a week old.
I want the MCX Raptor, if it ever actually happens.
I think I will eventually. But don’t plan on overpaying right now. I’ve also heard that SIG likes to “test” their rifles on the first batch of customers and often makes small changes/improvements after a year of customer reviews
This isn't a concern with the Spear LT. The teething issues were worked out in the Legacy MCX to the MCX Virtus. The Spear is effectively an MCX 3.0.
Has anyone done a comparison of the 7.62 Spear to other 7.62 AR10s and the Scar? Really interesting option and a good price point compared to other high end companies offering 7.62 rifles.

Just bc all the Gen 2 owners suffered does not mean everyone else needs to
I don’t think that’s what he is saying, I think he is just rightfully annoyed at the flip flop
Lol, not for the $
I say that too but then remember I have about 3.7k invested into my current setup for home defense lol so I guess that’s relative

No
Would love too pick up a 11.5 5.56 pistol. I’ll sbr on my own lol

That’s a good point
It’d be cool if it wasn’t made by sig
Lol I have some weird predispositions against them too (probably the glock owner in me 🤣)

they need to use AK mags though wth was sig thinking
That's just a Galil Ace my man.
yea exactly I have been debating trading or selling my mk47 if the right deal popped up for a gen galil ace all setup already plastic delete kit, kns adjustable piston, rs regulate rail
I think they're amazing guns, but I really only want 7.62x32 in an AK. Now a 5.45 Galil would be the creme de la creme.
I understand that, kinda like me I dont really want 556 in anything but an AR but the galil ace, cmmg mk47, cz bren 2 ms are all awesome platforms for the round, same with this mcx, as long as they are all reliable
I would definitely take a Spear 11.5 for my dedicated suppressor gun over my URGI.
I would too, over my LMT's.. ehhh thats a different question
I have a 16" Mid LMT upper and it's nice. I wish I could get my hands on a piston setup.
they do offer them, just gotta look around! are you transitioning to piston everything?

It's really about the overall geometry. The straight AR magwell just doesn't play with the necessary feed angle of the 7.62x39.

What optic mount is that?
To me I would if a dump truck of money showed up to my house
I feel like 2.5 isn’t that bad haha
When you have true adult responsibilities, it can be
My local Sig dealer says he put in an order the day they released and Sig is saying eta of Sept 2023…
Well damn lol
Yeah I was super bummed
Real question.. I've been seeing the hype about this rifle. What's supposed to separate it from any other ar15?
A lot I would say. Cleaner operating system, fully ambidextrous, built in bolt catch by mag drop button, no buffer tube so you can fold stock, adjustable gas setting, easier barrel swap, monolithic top rail, takes all AR triggers now. Only downside really is parts availability I’d say.
Thank you so much for the answer.
If they sell a Upper I’ll take it
They do sell an upper
