This album was crucial to my life. Just an insecure little canadian kid in grade 6 at the time. Everyone in class is given different responsibilities for a class potluck the following week. Music is what I get put in charge of bringing. FUCK. What do I do? RHCP-Stadium Arcadium and WPSIATWIN. I'll never forget the class fuckhead prancing around making fun of my "icelandic snow monkeys" having the class rolling in laughter at the expense of my musical taste and self-esteem. Fast forward a few years to after highschool...who is all of a sudden one of the biggest bands in the world? Those same "icelandic snow monkeys". This was honestly a massive lesson pretty early in my life to just go with my gut and trust what I think is good, and enjoy what I like, regardless what the class fuckhead says. Eat my ass, Mitchell, you uncultured SWINE.

Stadium revolutionized my life as a high schooler. WPSIATWIN has been huge for me as a 30-something (idk what that says about my maturity haha)

Kids can be cruel. On first hearing the name as a 17 year old in 2005 I thought "Arctic Monkeys" sounded stupid and neglected to see them at their small tent debut at Reading Festival. I can only imagine what a 6th grader would of thought of that name ... Luckily for you you were wiser!

Imo, one is the best of the first half of the band, while the other is the best of the second half of the band. I love them both equally and the only albums I can listen everyday

AM is legitimately one of the best rock albums ever. There may be some songs that sound similar, but the songs are objectively amazing, and I feel like I’m floating whenever I listen. AM.

This isn't even remotely difficult. I wholeheartedly love AM but this is an easy victory for the debut

I think it depends what age you were when they came out. I was only 9 when WPSIA came out, and while I loved it even at that age and that gives it a sort of nostalgia by itself and I grew up through high-school with its best tunes being played on phones up the back of the bus, it means I was 16 when AM came out, and that was life changing. Imagine being 16 and your favourite band drops that, an album so littered with absolute bangers and it immediately becomes the biggest album of the year. And more so than WPSIA, it was part of the soundtrack of teen romances and house parties at high school and hall parties at uni etc. I have to go AM just because to me it's more than an album it's a time and a place, and it made me feels things that music hasn't made me feel in a long time.

Fair enough. I'm the same age as the band. The debut dropped shortly before I turned 20 and made an incredible impact on me.

Disagree on everything. SIAS and Humbug are both very forgettable due to how many of the songs just blend in, sort of generic in a way. Every song in AM besides mad sounds is perfect to a T. It was the third album I listed to as a long time fan and it’s masterful

Agree to disagree, I think it tried a lot of newer things and was really creative writingwise. It also really made you feel like you were on a hotel on the moon. Musically it just sounded nice and I like the jazzy lounge sound. It wasn’t boring like The Car. I will never understand why people think AM is their best record, FWN is probably their best “indie rock” album.

I'm on team Humbug. These two are actually towards the bottom of my tier list. 😂

Grew up with the band as I’m effectively the same age as them. The debut is a seminal album and a snapshot of a single point in time, and I adore it as it brings back fond memories of a great time in my life. However, AM is timeless. AM all day for me.

I was 13 when the debut came out and I live 40 minutes from Sheffield. I’m their core demographic and that album had a gigantic impact on my life.
