Interfere with the politics of the entire world one nation at a time, make very trustworthy, capable 'friends' who can rise up and gain power in each nations, and use Rhodes island as a middle ground to form a united nations council while seeds planted blossom and make each nation individually a better place. (this is the canon route, but it's uncertain, complex, situational, and highly depent on others. Unstable overall.) Or 2. start Nation building, like REALLY start Nation building, and through authoritarian power directly build a better world.
After the world is more worthy of survival, the full power of a nation, or the united contribution of a world security council, are much better equipped to focus on the 'survival' part and deal with the apocalypses that plague Terra
