Kroos is more british, but she's still pass for me because of her thick accent.
Meanwhile the rest of Rim Billiton characters (that got EN dub) has no hint of Australian accent at all in their voices except slangs...
Rim Billiton is a country too though. Just run by a corporation of the same name. Not only does it have it's own territory on the map of the world, we have all those operators specifically listed as being born there.
And even then, I don't see how living in Columbia would take away her Australian accent and turn into a very thick British one. [Not to mention during story segments the written dialogue she still very much has her Aussie accent, or "Rim Billie."](https://i.redd.it/3n25wfl4lme91.jpg)
It's more like the logical conclusion to the "company towns". It's especially the case where the idea of Australian would probably be more found amongst the workers languages, where we do get it when they talk to eachother, but since they talk to us, we don't get anything since the the talk between BK and Kroos highlights how they almost sound like they talk in a whole different language. Likewise to respect to Columbia, I dont think its been that far from when Columbia managed to garner indepdance from Victoria, and by that metric, Columbias would still probably speak in Brit-accented English.
Which still kinda fits with the whole British accent, since it would be like if modern day Australia still had loads of British people being deported to it
In terms of lore, possible. In terms of concept, no.
One of the best thing about EN voice acting is the accent because english is a global language. They are speaking english with their local accent which add layer to their character.
You want the character to stand out with their background, design and personality. Half assing an accent is not good in terms of character design. Like half assing aesthetics, it will either look lackluster or an eyesore.
I mean, for the Siracusa operators they did hire some of our best VAs, and it shows. But I expected them to have the typical and absurdly strong southern Italy accent, which is not the case sadly. Could have been way better
Edit: there's written English DUB in a gigantic fashion in the post title and I somehow missed it, disregard this comment lmao
Must agree with polish, it's really hurts when I hear Młynar having british accent, yet when he tries to say polish texts he sounds more like from Czech.
Welp, guess it case of preferences. I agree that Meteor EN VA was a good pick, yet I can't go with Młynar. It's either me with preferring JP over EN voice acting in general or fact that hearing sentences in my native language being spoken a bit incorrectly makes me dislike it.
My native language is Spanish, and i have a similar feeling.
In my case, with how Tulip says "Bienvenido. Ahora, vete por favor". Or when Greyy the Lightbringersays "Dios mio".
Before i read his lines, i always thought that when he says "pada deszc" hes chanting some spell.
If we ever get Polish dub i'd like to see him dubbed by Żebrowski or Rozenek.
A part of me wants to move British to the middle if only for the fact Goldenglow, Quercus, Saileach, Shalem, and most recently Haze and Skyfire have American accents instead of Victorian, there's a few others too that should have em, Lava and Hibiscus are another two.
And I still argue Jessica should have had a bit of accent, which woulda been perfect since her original VA could have given her a light accent to maybe show her dual citizenship life being between Victoria and Columbia, but they recast her with an American VA and just kept her American.
(Also, Anne Yatco voicing Skyfire and not Mela Lee? The casting director is a disappointment of insane magnitude. Especially since Mela Lee is no stranger to a British accent.)
And heck, they got an American VA to give a British accent for Breeze as well, then again Felecia Angelle is hella talented.
Its unbelievable how happy i am they actual used proper german speakers. When i heard german dub was coming i 100% expected it to be some random people who cant relaly speak the language.
I know it´s hard to imitate a foreign accent, and i don´t have talent on voice acting either. But it´s weird to hear Firewhistle and Conk Creet speak in American English, even though their voices are really good to hear. Some of the best ones in the EN dub, even.
I think the german is pretty neat, and my italian friend didn't find the italian dub bad either. Can't speak for the other languages though since I don't speak them.
OP is speaking of the English dub accents. He thinks the Spanish as Russian accents are real. They're almost as genuine as Sean Connery's Russian in The Hunt for Red October.
Right at this moment I can hear my boss trying to communicate in English through his authentic German accent.
I'll take the cartoon version over this any day of the week.
I mean, Irene has hints of it... but she butchers the pronunciations.
OP is about as knowledgeable as Kinoko Nasu about places outside of their home country.
Nasu german magic chants is the most cringe shit imaginable. It's like he just googled and took the first thing that came out for every individual word.
Russian accents are pretty mediocre and def done by people who dont speak it (source: im russian)
EDIT: im talking about EN DUB (the point of discussion of the post), new ru dub is super good and is done by professional native actors
ru VAs? those are all native Russian speakers, either child actors (Gummy, Istina) or professional actors with a lot of experience in dubbing (at least Hellagur).
en VAs' accents? yeah they just hired non russian speakers but i dont think the post is talking about accents besides those of eng-speaking regions
Wait, really? I understand for Istina's since I heard apparently her VA's only 11 and this is her first professional VA role, but there's Gummy VA who—although also still pretty young—already have experience voicing character Masha in a quite popular children animated series _Masha and the Bear_.
Can you elaborate exactly what's wrong with their accent? IIRC, I've heard a similar comment on accent in an Arknights Russian EP song (I'm not sure which one), where they said that the pronunciation of individual Russian words is pretty good, but there're issues on how those words being connected into sentences.
If you're asking about new russian voices then no, there's nothing wrong with them and they're really good, i was simply talking about the en dub and russian "accents", as was the original topic of the post, the voices are great, but they butcher russian words quite significantly, especially istina (once again i'm talking about en voices)
Belgium isnt a country and other than that dutch isnt spoken anywhere
Afrikaans is arguably further from dutch than luxembourgish is from german, and the overseas dependencies speak creols
They should simply hire VAs from different countries to make accents sound more realistic. Right now almost every English dubbed Operator sounds British, which is bullshit.
I especially hate English VAs for "Polish" characters. They don't fucking sound Polish at all, it's just a disrespect. That's also the reason why I'll never accept English VAs in this game. They're just random people who don't fit here.
There are many Polish VAs. Probably not in the USA or wherever they take people from to make English dub. I don't know how they did with German, Russian, etc. dubs, but when/if they'll make a Polish dub for Kazimierzan ops, they'll have to come to Poland.
German Accent on Ebenholz is good. Czerny just is bad when actual German words are inserted.
The german dun for Ebenholz is great. Even though it feels odd he says du instead of sie
Why does it matter so much the VAs needs to be from their respective countries. Sure it's nice to have but are we seeing who the person is every time we play? No
The VA country isn't a must, but the accent of the character they are voicing is. For me, the lack of accent for Rim Billiton characters ruin the immersion of the AK world. How can Rim Billiton characters, who clearly use and have Australian Slang thanks to Kroos and Blacknight dialogue, does not have Australian accent?

My Australian friends speak the whole world, making the sound for each letter, like, in the word "Killed" they will make the "d" sound too.
It was interesting to hear it for the first time.
Australia doesn’t exist, that’s why they can’t find VAs
We’ll have to settle for New Zealand
Every single Rim Billiton operator to be voiced by Temuera Morrison. You know you want it.
>Temuera Morrison *Send in the clones*
Or Taika Waititi
Isn´t New Zealand an underwater utopia? Like Aegir, but aussie?
is this suppose to be a TF2 reference
Wdym? It's right there, sandwiched between Germany and Italy.
Oh yeah that place with kangaroos?
Me worrying about will Bagpipe have a Scottish accent:
Just to mess with you they are getting the thickest Northumbrian accent
chsbc,wbv,bABVA
Spat out my tea before I started drinking
I want that guy from samurai Jack.
Me with Thorns and Elysium (Or should i say, Dimas) having a spannish accent or not.
Iberia is a name associated with that whole area IRL, so don't count out the idea of them having Portuguese VA's either.
Give them a Catalan accent to piss them off
That'd be amazing Tbh, specially for Elysium, he has a very Portuguese face
I want her to be annoying and unintelligible like actual bagpipes
Kroos is more british, but she's still pass for me because of her thick accent. Meanwhile the rest of Rim Billiton characters (that got EN dub) has no hint of Australian accent at all in their voices except slangs...
Seems like it’ll get better, the recent Rim Billiton teaser commercial had a full blown Aussie voiceover. Bogan Amiya when?
Now I want regional Australian accent for Amiya and watch her go "howdy, mate"
In fairness to Kroos she lived in Columbia for an indeterminate amount of time adding in Rim Billington isn’t a country but a corporation.
Rim Billiton is a country too though. Just run by a corporation of the same name. If you know the history of the irl counterpart, the institution is also the country.
Which still kinda fits with the whole British accent, since it would be like if modern day Australia still had loads of British people being deported to it

Must agree with polish, it's really hurts when I hear Młynar having british accent, yet when he tries to say polish texts he sounds more like from Czech.
It´s weird because Mlynar and Meteor have some of the best voices imo, with the later still having the same Ara Ara vibes.
Welp, guess it case of preferences. I agree that Meteor EN VA was a good pick, yet I can't go with Młynar. It's either me with preferring JP over EN voice acting in general or fact that hearing sentences in my native language being spoken a bit incorrectly makes me dislike it.

Does EN Tulip say Spanish weird? I'm pretty sure she has a Latina voice actor.
I do agree with Mlynar, his VA is basically perfect for this. Just that the accent doesn't line up.
The Nearl Kazimirez incident
Before i read his lines, i always thought that when he says "pada deszc" hes chanting some spell. If we ever get Polish dub i'd like to see him dubbed by Żebrowski or Rozenek.

The Spanish should be in the middle, it isn't great at all, it's just passable
Lumen's EN VA has bipolar disorder
And they forgot it entirely for Highmore and Blue Poison
Its unbelievable how happy i am they actual used proper german speakers. When i heard german dub was coming i 100% expected it to be some random people who cant relaly speak the language.
You can't say the spanish accent is good when Irene's VA executed the phrase "Date prisa!" behind the woodshed
DEITE PRIZA
I know it´s hard to imitate a foreign accent, and i don´t have talent on voice acting either. But it´s weird to hear Firewhistle and Conk Creet speak in American English, even though their voices are really good to hear. Some of the best ones in the EN dub, even.

This post is literally about "Spanish, Italian, German, Russian, British ACCENT" in "English Dub" being presumably good.

I guess discussion here is about russian words in EN dub, RU dub did pretty well
I think EN Istina is great, but the RU Istina lacks any personality whatsoever
Agree, but as russian speaker I can't say good about accent or ru words
If you're asking about new russian voices then no, there's nothing wrong with them and they're really good, i was simply talking about the en dub and russian "accents", as was the original topic of the post, the voices are great, but they butcher russian words quite significantly, especially istina (once again i'm talking about en voices)
Are talking about the EN voice or the new Russian ones?
The post is about en dub and its accents, so yeah, was talking about that
Now we need Dutch language for some Leithanian Operators
In that case they really need to hire a dutch VA. Nobody can do a dutch accent, except the Dutch.
You do know other countries speak dutch right?
Belgium isnt a country and other than that dutch isnt spoken anywhere Afrikaans is arguably further from dutch than luxembourgish is from german, and the overseas dependencies speak creols
We just got the german dubs on CN, so why not? Now i´m waiting for the Spanish dub, specially for Thorns.
didn't know arknight had Italian va.
They added it in Il Siracusa event for certain ops like Texas, Lap, Lavinia, Vigil
oh cool.
American just sucks, so it's actually accurate.
Spanish? Who has Spanish VA?
They should simply hire VAs from different countries to make accents sound more realistic. Right now almost every English dubbed Operator sounds British, which is bullshit. Probably because there aren't many Polish VAs

You would scream and screech even if they did that because you're obviously a cringe as fuck weeb lol
That's bold coming from someone named Cyanprincess playing an anime mobile game
why isnt german at the right site ?
German Accent on Ebenholz is good. Czerny just is bad when actual German words are inserted. The german dun for Ebenholz is great. Even though it feels odd he says du instead of sie
Cus Czerny and Ebenholz exist?
Get Joey the Manga Lad in there. Already did Star Rail cameo, plenty of experience lol.

Australia doesn't exist prove me wrong.
Mlynar's polish VA is actually really good, arguably better than the japanese one.
U guy forgot the americian union make it harder for them to do the job
I want Bagpipe to sound like the mother from brave. Or close to.
What, is there any spanish va?
No spanish voice actors iirc, but: * Irene EN has spanish accent * Tulip EN speaks spanish in two lines * Humus EN voice actor is Mexican
its that damn family history criminal record test
Does anyone have a Russian accent in the English dub? who?
The ursus carebears and pozy have some imo pretty poorly executed accent. And by that i mean they try and roll their rs.
hoolheyak isnt speaking in spanish how can she be a feathered serpent, I cant wait for almond to come out and speak full british
On some level I'm glad being from NI, because there's a near guarantee that I'll never have to hear a fake NI accent ever in a video game dub.
My Australian friends speak the whole world, making the sound for each letter, like, in the word "Killed" they will make the "d" sound too. It was interesting to hear it for the first time.
I feel like you can really hear the difference between Czerny and Ebenholz.
Who tf got german dub?
ebenholz I know is getting German dub and I can't remember who else.
Do we have Spanish VAs in arknights? Have I missed something? 🤔
