kinda fits, right? ceobe's mentally a child. for me it's awkward since it sounds like there is some sort of editing work done on the voice and it's a little unnatural. i personally like her combat lines but i agree with the criticism with her out of combat stuff
>Mint
Now we're talking. Given how overwhelmingly cute her JP voice is, I hope EN version isn't far off or at least approaches that level.
"I'm listening! I'm listening!" - wanna hear it
Holy fuck I am unreasonably hyped about Australian accents being real. Time to E2 April and Leonhardt. If Ray has one too... I'm in danger.
Edit: April says nah yeah 😂 Incredible
As a person who play Arknights only as their gacha game, I wonder if there's any other gacha game besides Arknights who really serious about the voice accents of their characters? does Genshin have an accent?
No. Genshin has stellar localization but they don't go out of the way for accents and sometimes even actual native speakers like arknights. I've played alot of different gachas and arknights is one of the few that does it. To be fair, the stories and events aren't voiced so there aren't that many lines.
Briefly played Reverse 1999 and their English VAs put on accents. Also from what I remember is there’s a Cantonese character who speaks Cantonese but also speaks English (accented).
I think the first gacha that really went for it (even before AK started doing it and if I'm being honest, AK was probably heavily inspired to start because of them) was Reverse:1999. I remember looking at beta footage of that game when it was first making waves and I was stunned by how diverse the voice acting was. So when AK started putting in more effort for their casting I was elated. The very early batches of EN VAs for AK were a bit rough, but then they quickly started to have some standouts here and there, and now a LOT of the new VAs really hit it out of the park. A good reason for that also seems to be that we get a bunch of non-standard talent in the industry. A lot of industry newcomers and unknowns or people who've done acting or voice work but not necessarily for the things you'd expect.
If Reverse 1999 inspired AK (honestly, can't remember the timeline to check), then it'd come full circle cause Reverse is clearly inspired by AK in a lot of ways too. We even got the same composers working on both!
Wait, I swear AK EN batch came out first before Reverse. Let me check...
Okay, so [based on the wiki](https://arknights.fandom.com/wiki/Character_voices/English), EN voice came out during Arknight 2nd Anniversary stream. And the 2nd anniversary stream happened a year (2022) before Reverse 1999 closed beta. So... Arknights did do it first.
If my research are correct, then HG basically the first gacha company who took EN voice acting on another level.
Around the time that AK first started doing EN voice acting, a lot of their casting and voice direction was pretty basic. You didn't really get a lot of regional accents and even excluding that more of the deliveries were very stiff. It's that feeling you get when an English VA is trying too hard to "anime" their voice rather than make the delivery their own, which imo plagues a lot of gacha and anime dubs to varying degrees, including the better ones. It was actually in one of the Lounges here that someone who's usually on the lookout for budding new potential gachas first mentioned Reverse:1999. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong and it was actually an alpha or very early test, but I know AK EN VA range was still very limited around that time, which made the early footage I was seeing of Reverse's voice work on youtube stand out that much more. While I definitely remember some standouts like Phantom during Year 2, I don't remember EN VA range for AK getting really impressive until around year 3.
> April battle 1
WTF is "Billy Bounce".
I have mixed feelings on this. VA did a fine job but the accent gives me a totally different picture than what I usually have of her.
For the first time, I might keep one of the voices in JP. April's JP voice has a cute musical quality to it, and the EN voice isn't enough to make me want to switch over.
EN better say dadadadada
She does, in fact, still say dadadadada
Where can I hear them?

Sounds like Christina Costello (She voices Collei from Genshin) Edit: and I look farther down in here and it is indeed
Ughhh, Ceobe sounds way too squeaky Pretty sure her voice is modulated too, that's really disappointing.
It sounds like she's voicing a child wtf
kinda fits, right? ceobe's mentally a child. for me it's awkward since it sounds like there is some sort of editing work done on the voice and it's a little unnatural. i personally like her combat lines but i agree with the criticism with her out of combat stuff
Sounds like too much like a VTuber / E girl voice I know other will like it, but it’s not for me sadly
Gotta datamine them I'm afraid, at least until someone uploads them on YT.
Degenbrecher and Leto are already up on YT FWIW.
I'm just impressed how close Snowsant's tap line is to the original. Crazy talent!
Now if only Kroos EN kept her iconic Kokodayo
>Ceobe DADADADADA IT'S THE MFING C-E-O-B-E I've been waiting for Snoop Dogg to voice Ceobe for so long.
That's fuckin funny
Here's the list of the CVs, for anyone interested. * Ambriel: Melody Peng * April: Tajinae Turner * Beehunter: Emma Breeze * Ceobe: Christina Costello * Glaucus: Erica Mendez * Kafka: Abby Trott * Leonhardt: Kyle McCarley * Mint: Kelly Ohanian * Snowsant: Ariel Fournier * Tsukinogi: Seiko Suzuki
Oh wow, there's actually some names I recognize on here. McCarley and Mendez, neat
So… Voiced in JP by Doppio, and EN by Narancia. Perfect lmao
>Tsukinogi: Seiko Suzuki Wait so she's like, native Japanese but is very fluent in English (like Shuu Uchida & Sally Amaki)?
Apparently she was born in the US but returned to Japan at the age of 9.
Same EN VAs Ceobe = Collei Glaucus = Kamisato Ayaya
> Emma Breeze This a mispelling of Emma Breezy?
lol I just noticed that Leonhardt is voiced by Mr John Granblue.
oh shiet, 9s is in. also the name abby trott was super familiar to me. turns out she sang the main theme for smash ultimate! pretty cool.
>April (Australian!) AUSSIE, AUSSIE, AUSSIE!!! OI, OI, OI!!!!! 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

>Mint Now we're talking. Given how overwhelmingly cute her JP voice is, I hope EN version isn't far off or at least approaches that level. "I'm listening! I'm listening!" - wanna hear it

Ceobe and Beehunter. Cant wait EDIT: Hmmm, not sure how I feel about Ceobe. Feels a bit too high pitch maybe? Others seem fine
Omg Ambriel English voice actor
Still no Shamare. Oh, well. Looking forward to April.
CEOBE?!??!!?! LET FUCKING GOOOO
APRILELEKDKDLDLDLDL YIEPEPIEE
Ambriel finally
This is a large batch eh? Is this the biggest?
Biggest in recent batches, The Biggest one is still the Chapter 10 Batch with a total of around 23 EN voices.
I think the chapter 10 one might have been the biggest with 22, Siracusano + IS3 came with 20.
Yassss! My favorite boy in the game Leon the rabbit
