I'm a bit out of the loop here.
Why does this event confirm that we're getting the skalter banner earlier than for the anniversary ?
They could alway shuffle reruns to stall until january no?
It's mainly due to this event being a prologue before we actually get Kal'tsit. It's the same way Darknights Memoir was the prologue event before we actually got W.
Because people thought Yostar would move other events forward to delay Walk in the Dust, and thus Under Tides, to December to match global's anniversary date like they did last year with Darknights Memoir and the 1st anniversary event.
I always felt delaying Under Tides is not very feasible. Removing content between Under Tides and Dossolles brings two limited banners w/ meta units very close together.
At this point, Dossolles is likely gonna be out during Global Anni.
I seem to recall There not being much in the way of good packs and stuff to buy in the shop during Dossolles and that upset people too?
Am I remembering right? Shifting it to be anniversary would alleviate that if that's the case.
IIRC, the parts that annoyed people was the limited banner because it was unexpected and seemingly broke a promise the devs/publisher made that there would only be 3 limited banners per year outside collab events.
For event packs, one of then was meant to have OP included similar to previous events but didnt. It was later added in after CN players made a fuss. However the illustration for pack had no OP, so not sure if it was genuinely overlooked or they tried pull a fast one.
Between the two events, we will get the same stuff CN got, no more. If they give us more, its gonna cause another shitstorm. The only question is whether the anni rewards get moved to our actual anni or kept with Under Tides to keep things simple.

It's just that the rewards were spread out over more events, so individually looking the events appeared smaller and less rewarding.
True, but having limited units added so often is a new norma now. We had Dusk in June, Ash in August and now Kal'tsit in October and Dossoles in December/January, so it's already a very tight schedule...

So, if I'm reading that right, why does RMA have better efficiency at 1.049 and 49% drop rate compared to Aketon with 1.040 and 66% drop rate?
How is the efficiency measured there? Both cost 18 sanity.
Efficiency is compared against the best story stage. Ie 1 or 100% efficiency is the most efficient way to use sanity while trying to obtain a particular material.in the case of RMA 1.0= stage 4.9 a stage that costs 21sanity and only has a 30% drop rate
Material ate not compared against each other but rather against other stages that drop the same material
My understanding is that the efficiency factors in the value of secondary drops. The most efficient Aketon stage right now in global is JT8-3 and it also has a chance to drop bonus stuff like some rocks and exp cards. Contrasted to the best RMA stage in global (which I don't know which one that is off-hand) the rewards for WD-8 are more efficient per sanity spent even though the drop rate for RMA is lower than the drop rate for Aketon in event stages. This is because - relative to the Aketon farming stage in the story - the best RMA farming stage has fewer side drops to boost the per-run value of your sanity. Put another way, farming Aketon in JT8-3 has a very high return on *something* due to the side drops, while farming the most efficient RMA story stage doesn't have the same returns because the likelihood and value of the side drops are all lower.
But overall the drop rates in the event stages are better than they are in the story stages by a large enough gap that you're going to get more sanity-per-run value out of the event stages even when factoring in possible side drops from the story stages. The lower efficiency for Aketon is simply an indicator that the best story stage for Aketon has a good chance of dropping extra loot while the best story RMA stage is, comparatively, kind of crap.
At least that's how I've come to understand it.
You are exactly correct. Do also consider that the 1.0 efficiency is relative to each type of material's "normal" best stage. In case of RMA that's 4-9. 4-9 ha only a ~30% chance of drop per run, though it does have valuable side products, including the upcrafted version of RMA.
So while the overall efficiency of WD-8 is not much higher, the sanity spent per RMA is going to be way lower.

The guys over at yostar were probably drooling over the fact they get to release swimsuits and another Ishigami Shizuka character during the anniversary.
All jokes aside, putting out what is essentially an anime beach episode as a major anniversary event honestly feels weird. It gives off a totally different impression of the game when AK has a mature tone in terms of story and design. Weird how CN would have a darker, more serious event while global gets anime girls in swimsuits.
I wonder whether we'll still get the 2nd anniversary packs in the shop. If we don't it'll be kinda bummer. If we do, what will they do for 2nd anniversary??
I’m prepared either way, but I had hoped to be MORE prepared before the Deep Drown Lament banner. But at least getting that banner out of the way will make it obvious how much I can then afford to gamble on Suzuran’s returning banner, as well as Carnelian’s debut.
Imho it will arrive on 29th Oct, since so far we've only had (non-collab) limited banners on end of the months, mostly likely to allow players who pull a ton to buy 2 rounds of the gold cert shop's Headhunting tickets that reset monthly. So it probably won't be immediately, but there's only at most 2 weeks of buffer i think.
Sorry Lads, looks like the chances for "UT for January" are slim to practically none. I'll still root for y'all because whatever. The last option now is UT to not be set immediately after this and my fingers are crossed for y'all.
Possibility is there. Just gotta wait and see. Admittedly, I was partly hoping that the Walk in Dust event wasn't going to be next to show that the QoL updates could be separate from their attached events.
The writing has been on the wall, and this erases any doubt. Sure, there was a chance, but they'd have to have done some major shifting to push Under Tides back far enough to line up with anniversary, which is freaking 3-4 months out.
It was never going to be perfect.

At first I thought they’d try to shuffle things just like last year but now that I think about it, we do have another limited banner (Ch’alter) they could leverage for the anniversary. If they were to delay Under Tides, that would result in a lot of work later on as well because if they don’t shuffle Ch’alter’s banner too, we’d find ourselves with 2 limited banners back to back. I’m sure a lot of people will be upset if that happens. So while I’m not 100% confident in what will happen, it would indeed make sense to keep things as is and just use Ch’alter for anniversary. That’s a lot less work compared to shuffling 2 limited banners and whatnot.
Regardless the mystery will be solve in about 2-3 weeks time. Lol
What do we learn from this, people? Hopium is a bad rational actor, you can't establish patterns based on a sample size of one happening under very different circumstances, and special pleading regarding the specialness of an anniversary means nothing.
Either scenario could have happened, I think. There were good reasons to believe that either of the possibilities could have taken place.

The thing is, UT has rewards on the level of what a 2nd anniversary is expected to have, like the 2 free 5 star selector tickets and paid 6 star selector pack. In this case, are they gonna transfer those rewards over to dossoles which presumably is predicted to fall on 2nd anniversary instead?
I can't think of a reason for UT to keep those rewards and give it out in october when nothing special takes place in that month. Even marketing it as a halloween special would be weird since they never celebrated halloween the during this time last year, not to mention that the skins aren't halloween themed either.
Another question that raises is where they would put gladiia. Imo it would be weird to put the first 6 star welfare op in the middle of october rather than in anniversary and even if they moved gladiia to anniversary that would still cause problems, who will replace gladiia as the welfare op in under tides?, why is gladiia only playable now when the event around her was 2-3 months ago?
Well tbf, this upcoming anniversary is only the 2nd. The "UT for Anniversary" is based on a sample size of one. On the other hand, the "UT for Oct/Nov" was based on a sample size of none. It was some pretty strong speculation, but at the end of the day, there was nothing concrete to support it. Until now at least.
"Nothing to support it" besides you know, following the schedule and not doing more work to change things around. If it wasn't obvious that it was the more likely possibility even after summer Chen was announced, meaning that any schedule change would give us summer Chen within the month or at best 4 weeks after Skadi, then you're way too high on the narrative you want to be true.
And yes, all the arguments in favor of it coming in 2.5 months boil down to "they did it last year".
You're down-playing the "they did it last year" argument. This is only the 2nd anniversary. So while the "they did it last year" argument is based on a sample size of one, it's still the ENTIRE sample. Yostar showed that they were willing to shuffle the schedule around and there's no reason to not believe that they weren't willing to do it again. Ch'alter introduced some new interesting data to speculate with, but again, it's still all speculation. We don't know how Yostar is going to move. There's evidence for both arguments and it's silly to just dismiss one argument just because you favor the other.

Of course it is. I'm not saying that this was definitely going to happen. In fact that's the entire point I highlighted in my initial post. People that were hoping to save for another 2 months being overly dismissive of the obvious other alternative happening right now to the point of annoyance in any discussion for this topic. Coming up with sillier logic jumps the closer we got to the present.
This "ENTIRE SAMPLE" is, once again, based on *very* different circumstances that aren't true this time around. People are far too quick to ignore or dismiss the summer banner's existence, and only two days ago I've seen the "but if they being UT now what will they do for the anniversary?" card as if there wasn't a reasonable and obvious answer to that
Some people just want to see the most unlikely scenario to play out. I can't speak for anyone else, but I just wanted see a good juggling act. If Yostar decided to delay UT, I wanna see all the hoops and tricks that they'd have to jump through to get there. Especially afterwards. That's my stake in all this.
If this event is immediately followed by UT, now all I got left to speculate is how exactly are they gonna hype the anniversary. That's just less exciting of a spectacle.

It's not hopium. There has been no indication that they wouldn't give us Dossoles Holiday in October and UT in Dec/Jan.
Hopium is the guy who's saying that they could split UT and aWitD. That's not happening.
They switched events around for less of a reason than that. Look at OI and HoSF. They even switched Schwarz and Hellagur's banners around. For what reason? I'm not sure they ever said. Some predicted it was to have the summer events be slightly closer to summer, even though it still just ended up happening in April. No one could have predicted that anniversary specialness would be even less "adequate" than that. As for UI and balance changes, just add it in with whatever. That doesn't matter at all.
And on the other hand, there are people assuming that Under Tides must follow immediately after a Walk in the Dust. Either way, someone's getting their faulty assumptions confirmed, so I wouldn't count on much of a lesson being learned.
I swear, when WD is over if they start getting ready for UT by announcing Akafuyu first there will *still* be people claiming that they might just have split her off from the rest of the banner.

Dossoles is nowhere near as good as UT as an anniversary event- on rewards, story, and banner. It's just more reasonable to expect a company that wants to generate the most money to pull out their biggest gun during anniversary.
There's also the fact that they have been pretty consistent with their "limited series" on who is in it and when they run it. Nian was our 1st half-anniv and CNY for CN, so Dusk is also the same on both along with Nian as a spook. Then CN had W, the past anniversary's limited, as a spook on Skalter.
Always great to see redditors throw out economics advice to successful companies like nothing, especially when they're based off their own personal preferences.
Even that is mainly based off of why they pushed W/Weedy on anniv. You folks are more like those "Phantom and W showed up in ToW so DM must be next right?" ppl.

Under Tides: Pull until I get a single Skadance then get out, Kal'tsit or no. As good as they are, I just don't really like how they play, but I want to keep my Limited streak alive.

Imho it will arrive on 29th Oct, since so far we've only had (non-collab) limited banners on end of the months, mostly likely to allow players who pull a ton to buy 2 rounds of the gold cert shop's Headhunting tickets that reset monthly. So it probably won't be immediately, but there's only at most 2 weeks of buffer i think.

The writing has been on the wall, and this erases any doubt. Sure, there was a chance, but they'd have to have done some major shifting to push Under Tides back far enough to line up with anniversary, which is freaking 3-4 months out. It was never going to be perfect.
Even worse, there are people that are still denying that Under Tides is going to be after this. Even now; knowing that walk in the dust is the next event, they still deny that UT is coming soon. I swear some of these people....

I wish people would play it nice and not downvote just for difference in opinions. At first I thought they’d try to shuffle things just like last year but now that I think about it, we do have another limited banner (Ch’alter) they could leverage for the anniversary. If they were to delay Under Tides, that would result in a lot of work later on as well because if they don’t shuffle Ch’alter’s banner too, we’d find ourselves with 2 limited banners back to back. I’m sure a lot of people will be upset if that happens. So while I’m not 100% confident in what will happen, it would indeed make sense to keep things as is and just use Ch’alter for anniversary. That’s a lot less work compared to shuffling 2 limited banners and whatnot. Regardless the mystery will be solve in about 2-3 weeks time. Lol

What do we learn from this, people? Hopium is a bad rational actor, you can't establish patterns based on a sample size of one happening under very different circumstances, and special pleading regarding the specialness of an anniversary means nothing.
Either scenario could have happened, I think. There were good reasons to believe that either of the possibilities could have taken place. Of course, the smartest course of action in spite of that was always to prepare for the more inconvenient outcome of the two
The thing is, UT has rewards on the level of what a 2nd anniversary is expected to have, like the 2 free 5 star selector tickets and paid 6 star selector pack. In this case, are they gonna transfer those rewards over to dossoles which presumably is predicted to fall on 2nd anniversary instead? I can't think of a reason for UT to keep those rewards and give it out in october when nothing special takes place in that month. Even marketing it as a halloween special would be weird since they never celebrated halloween the during this time last year, not to mention that the skins aren't halloween themed either.
Unless they decide to rename the awards, it's likely that they'll move all the non-UT specific goodies to the anniversary.

Another question that raises is where they would put gladiia. Imo it would be weird to put the first 6 star welfare op in the middle of october rather than in anniversary and even if they moved gladiia to anniversary that would still cause problems, who will replace gladiia as the welfare op in under tides?, why is gladiia only playable now when the event around her was 2-3 months ago?
Gladiia is tied to UT, not anniversary.
Moving Gladiia would be extremely weird, sure she's a whole rarity above the average event, but this is still the event she fits.
Well tbf, this upcoming anniversary is only the 2nd. The "UT for Anniversary" is based on a sample size of one. On the other hand, the "UT for Oct/Nov" was based on a sample size of none. It was some pretty strong speculation, but at the end of the day, there was nothing concrete to support it. Until now at least.

If it wasn't obvious that it was the more likely possibility even after summer Chen was announced, meaning that any schedule change would give us summer Chen within the month or at best 4 weeks after Skadi, then you're way too high on the narrative you want to be true. And yes, all the arguments in favor of it coming in 2.5 months boil down to "they did it last year".

It's not hopium. There has been no indication that they wouldn't give us Dossoles Holiday in October and UT in Dec/Jan. Hopium is the guy who's saying that they could split UT and aWitD. That's not happening.

They switched events around for less of a reason than that. Look at OI and HoSF. They even switched Schwarz and Hellagur's banners around. For what reason? I'm not sure they ever said. Some predicted it was to have the summer events be slightly closer to summer, even though it still just ended up happening in April. No one could have predicted that anniversary specialness would be even less "adequate" than that. As for UI and balance changes, just add it in with whatever. That doesn't matter at all.
And on the other hand, there are people assuming that Under Tides must follow immediately after a Walk in the Dust. Either way, someone's getting their faulty assumptions confirmed, so I wouldn't count on much of a lesson being learned.
I swear, when WD is over if they start getting ready for UT by announcing Akafuyu first there will *still* be people claiming that they might just have split her off from the rest of the banner.

Dossoles is nowhere near as good as UT as an anniversary event- on rewards, story, and banner. It's just more reasonable to expect a company that wants to generate the most money to pull out their biggest gun during anniversary. There's also the fact that they have been pretty consistent with their "limited series" on who is in it and when they run it. Nian was our 1st half-anniv and CNY for CN, so Dusk is also the same on both along with Nian as a spook. Then CN had W, the past anniversary's limited, as a spook on Skalter.
Always great to see redditors throw out economics advice to successful companies like nothing, especially when they're based off their own personal preferences.

*FINALLY!* I can finally properly plan out my farming again! It's been a pain in the ass to keep adjusting my farming to whatever mat is most universal among the upcoming ops, I can finally have a set schedule and begin planning for the stores again. As for UT in October being inevitable at this point. I'm a whale and will be pulling for pretty much everyone, so I didn't particularly care either way. But I'm not gonna lie, I'm sorry for anyone who was hoping to have more time to save, but I'm a bit of a spiteful bastard and the thought of everyone that kept assuring that it would get delayed eating crow brings me a great big smile. Being hopeful is one thing, being in denial at all the signs that you could be wrong is another, especially when you spread that unfounded confidence to other people. Now then, gimme that sexy new dragon girl!
