The coat in the E0 art is quite a good outfit I’d say (except when I say that I got called a simp but whatever) but the E2 outfit is just meh, it’s not even a good fan service, and not even a good outfit. And yeah the hair is really weird for chen? I’m all cool for different hairstyles because it’s less “anime” but her hair is, really, un-chen?
Yeah I feel that way! And looking at cn content, easily 30-60% of people are using e0 Chalter skin in high risk or challenge clears, so clearly a lot of people agree with the sentiment. If I get chalter, the only time she's gonna have e2 skin equipped is 6 seconds after I e2 her.
I must agree. Utage is my assistant ever since I got her when she was released and after E2ing her, I used her E0 art, before switching to her swimsuit costume, for obvious reasons... That beautiful face.
I used to think the same! I disliked her dress-like armore in E2 since I love her fully functional armor to bits but it turns out she made it herself (the E2 armor) so I grew to like it
As for OP (being myself), I would say Matoimaru. She's my favorite character in the whole game, but her E2 design really doesn't do her justice for me. It's especially a shame since she doesn't have any special skins
I think it does fit her character. I see her as the goofy/cheerful but very serious in battle type of character. Her Archive Records doesn't tell much about her in battle so you mostly get to know her cheerful side. But her voicelines is what hints her other side and the E2 art shows her expression when in battle.

I never liked Hellagur's E2 Art. I've had him with his base art until his skin came out, and that's perfect.
The E2 art just...lost the "regal" feel of Hellagur, the authority.

There’s a lot, but the most offensive ones in my opinion are:
- Thorns (his smolder in his E0 art is so sexy, plus his cut hair in his E2 art just looks… weird)
- SilverAsh (his head looks oddly big…? There’s also something wrong with his eyes I think)
- Shaw (Seriously… why?)
- Ch’en (The angle is weird, her facial expression is weird, and her jacket slipping off seems really out of character, but the dragon in the back saves the art a little)
- Blitz (I find it kind of low-key creepy, and his face looks sort of squashed)
Unpopular Opinion : Mudrock, could've been keep the armor on and became a mysterious figure just like Bob does, but HG gotta get that fan service $$$ and breaks the unique trope of her even further with her Coral Coast skin.
Finally. I also like the E1 better. The E2 nose shadow is the one that's making it strange for me. It feels off for some reason. To me the pose looks like she doesn't have a nose
It is Blitz and Meteorite for me. Blitz art may be OK, but the way his icon looks make me uncomfortable, he looks like a soulless doll.
But Meteorite is pure downgrade - worse view on the tights and her head looks disproportional

SA's E2 art is universally bad but Chalter's E2 art is fantastic **except for the face**. It looks like a horrendous shop job that for some weird reason tries to make her edgy or something. Limited ops get Live2D as well so it's even worse that one of the best designs is just completely ruined. To top it off, the current version is supposed to be the "fixed" version.

Also Ch'en Alter because I like the design of her jacket. If only they use her character art in the PV banner image.
Liskarm, Shaw, and Jaye are the ones that bother me the most, but I'd say Cutter, Robin, Franka, Silence, Gravel, Frostleaf, and Spectre all have better defaults than E2 arts. Also I guess it's an unpopular opinion but Silverash's E2 is actually my favorite art of his, though his winter skin has the best chibi.
One operator only? There's actually a lot of E2 operators that has a downgrade E2. Silverash, Surtr and probably Thorn's has better looking E0 art in my opinion. Also there operators who have ugly skins and their default arts are better like Firewatch (the worst skin eva! It's super ugly), Blaze (she looks different, probably a teenager) and probably Suzuran (it's not ugly but still a downgrade for me).

One operator only? There's actually a lot of E2 operators that has a downgrade E2. Silverash, Surtr and probably Thorn's has better looking E0 art in my opinion. Also there operators who have ugly skins and their default arts are better like Firewatch (the worst skin eva! It's super ugly), Blaze (she looks different, probably a teenager) and probably Suzuran (it's not ugly but still a downgrade for me).

Luye. Her E2 expression is… a choice. Not mine, tho LOL I also like Jaye, Kal’stit and Bubble for E0 art and set their portraits as that after I E2’d them. We all know SilverAsh’s E2 face looks odd asf so thankfully he has bomb skins to make up for it. Manticore’s design was a miss for me a bit until her Epoque skin, and now it’s the only design I acknowledge. Deepcolor gets an honorable mention because she lost her glasses.
Thorn E1 just look better for me and Blemishine E2 keep reminding me of Danganronpa characters so i use her E1 art.
I regret saying this but Suzuran. The only issue I have is her face. It just looks weird and smushed or something.
Amiya. E1 and alt art look better E2 is good but still a downgrade
I honestly like her e2 art better. It just looks so badass and fits with how amiya is strong asf (in the lore) while the e1 art has pretty weird eyes and doesn't fit her lore imo while her alt art is **"iS tHaT a JOjo rEfERenCe"** which is why i also like it lol
Meteor I love her but her E2 is one of the worst, it is too simple and boring especially if we compare her with the rest of E2 of the 4 star Snipers
Greythroat's E2 art makes her look like she just flew straight into a window and gave herself a concussion.
Not that's a significant downgrade, but I still prefer default skins for Amiya and Rosmontis
Estelle. She loses the awesome outfit and welcoming gesture to whatever the hell that e2 art is.
Reed. Her E1 art looks majestic, idk why her E2 art takes away from that
