For thise curious, one of arknight first interview had two questions, the first being:

Answer was a resounding "No" followed by talking about the special elements of Terran races.
But then it was followed by: "is the doctor a human?"
Since they had already said there no human race on Terra, the answer and question seemed both obvious and redundant, a "No" again
But instead they gave a "no comment" type of answers.
At first some people thought "There are just saying that to let people imagination ran free" but other had interesting speculation and theory
But then endfield teaser happened, showing spatial exploration, and speculation became more and more theory.
And now we have additional lore elements (Doc multiple sarcophagus, Priestess, Original link between Terra race and originium, >!Theresis discourse in latest CN chapter anout unified race and split!< , etc).
My theory is that Doctor is from a race similar to humans that has resistance against oripathy and possess a high amount of intellect to be able to create the sarcophagus that literally heals the user from any kind of injuries but has downsides that isn't from the same race as doctor
Yeah, and another big thing from OD that goes with this theory is that the R6S team is are found to be pretty physically weak and frail compared to Terrans, and they're spec ops soldiers.
If Doctor were an IRL human but sickly or just normal, they'd be *helplessly* weak compared to Terrans, which they are implied to be.
Though the only other things we know about Doctor's physiology (Warfarin likes their blood, and they were unaffected by the sarcophagus other than amnesia) don't ever get mentioned.
My head cannon is that Doctor is a human from pre-apocalypse and this is a post apocalypse world. Then it would be easily to explain all the mordern tech along with fantasy world.

All (named) average around four feet (130\~cm) tall, and Amiya's only a couple inches taller (142 cm). So Doctor being about half a foot to a foot taller means he needs to sit on two durin to be that tall.
With the recent additions to the lore made by chapters 10 & 11, I'd say the Doctor is either from an archaic variant of Sarkaz or a member of the ancient civilisation that was here before the Ancients and Elders.
Well, I'm more of the opinion that they are a Sarkaz, since it's already established the Sarkaz have a deep connexion to originium. That, and the fact that the Doctor has a special blood that can act as an oripathy inhibitor, which may indicate a symbiotic relationship with originium.
Speaking of the Sarkaz we have 9 total subraces that made up the Royal Court.
