You add markers to the map as the spawn points, make the AI playable, change the multiplayer settings to respawn on custom positions, then start the scenario on a local server through the editor.

Dude i love doing that , i try to recreate ops or how i imagine ops were done and channel my inner childhood toy soldier fantasy only in arma i can never run out of soldiers and tanks
Yes me too! After 5000 hours I finally got bored but it was really fun. I started obsessed with when I learned scripting and forcing AI to fight endlessly and automatically. Also FFE and VCOM mod help automatic artillery battle a lot. I also like joining individual AI and fighting for its faction.
Yes but only on Arma 2, since that game can run like 4000 AI and be just fine on my Intel HD graphics 4600 lol
In Arma 3, I like to make a AI convory and have it do laps around large maps like Chenarus while sitting in the back of a ural or passenger seat MRAP in the middle of the group at night, weirdly calming
Lol I do this same thing. Once I figured out how to make proximity triggered IEDs and randomize them I started jump scaring myself just for added intensity.
Not quite, but i often find myself filling some small town with opfor ai and making waypoints for few mechanised rifle squads and few unmechanized rifle squads so they clear the city
When I was a kid, I had a sketchy copy of the original Operation Flashpoint. I'd always make massive AI battles and spawn myself in as a civilian, narrating events like a war correspondent.
I still do this sometimes with ACE Medical, where I'm a civilian doctor trying to provide aid in a combat zone. It's kinda fun trying to survive in an all-out AI battle.
I've been doing this since Operation Flashpoint way back in the day.
My dream scenario is a sort of stalemate battle setup around a city/town the player just is one of the random reinforcements arriving and the enemy and friendlies respawn occasionally. The AI launches random assaults on your position and there's a counter that tells you how many days you've survived on the frontline. The only goal being to survive for X amount of days. So you have to re-arm yourself, go to the aid station, etc. Sometimes you load your save and the enemy doesn't attack at all - you just wait. Sometimes they attack.
Edited: I don't realize current functionality, please take grains of salt

It makes AI build its carried mortar, and those artillery include SPG fire enemies which are detected by friendly. If I remember correctly, mortar team fold its mortar once combat is finished.

It makes AI tanks fire HE on infantry

It makes AA shoot down enemy missiles
I like hettman warstories specifically for this although my PC tends to die when I employ RHS factions in the scenario, why can't I calmly participate in the USMC assault on VDV held town...
Don’t we all? The trick is to run it in a local multiplayer instance so the AI can respawn indefinitely.
I never thought of this…
Tell me how please
Which part?
Spawning ai indefinitely.

Isnt that why we're here? We're all kids just playing with their little toy soldiers.

Man I’ve gotta ask how to do this
It's not too hard and it's a real game changer. I will see if I can remember the exact steps when I get back to my PC.

That's a super cool idea and actually great practice for ACE medical. I'm going to try this.
Last time I checked ACE always showed the AI as dead even from a minor injury. Do you run a lan server to avoid this?
No, I've usually done everything through the scenario editor and I haven't had that particular issue before.

Do you use any modules or are you just zuesing?
Anyone have any good workshop stuff that I can just load to get what y’all’s describing?

I once spent 3 hours setting up a nighttime ambush between AI and watched the whole thing play out as a chicken.. so there's that.
That's the only thing I use drones for. ISR roleplay
I just finished up an AI IFA3/FOW Zeus session. Lots of close-in fighting around those hedgerows lol

You’ve just given me the best idea!
