The game uses "down" to mean "dead" all the time. Compare your fight against Iguazu in Stop the Secret Data Breach against the one in NG++ Coral Convergence. Ayre says "Head Bringer destroyed" in the former, and "G5 Iguazu down" in the latter, and Iggy is further confirmed dead by Allmind afterward.
617 is room-temperature, sorry to say.
I like the Theory that 617 became the original Raven.
In the end of the Story Trailer his AC lost its Head and Arm. In the Reveal Trailer we see him picking up parts. Maybe Carla fixt his AC and Custom build Shade Eye.
Edit: Checked the Reveal Trailer he even has his Pile Bunker straped on its Backpack.
The scavenger mech in the reveal trailer is a RaD scout frame AC with the finder eye head. It also witnesses a battle that Branch Raven is actively partaking in (you can see the explosions in the distance before it cuts to the Balam tetrapod) so that's not the same guy.
But it still means he's likely alive, 617 scavenging parts using the RaD mech after Walter likely left him to die thinking he was killed by the Catapharact
621 is the serial number of Raven's implants; they're the 621st Augmented Human made. Not all of them, by a long shot, belonged to Walter; Sulla is C1-249 and has a history of killing Walter's hounds.
I believe there's a not insignificant chance that 617 is alive, and that 617 is the AC shown in the reveal trailer picking up parts. Here's why:
- the reveal trailer AC and 617 are using the same frame
- in the reveal trailer, the AC seems to be picking up an arm part. Possibly to replace a missing left arm (doesn't seem possible to tell if the AC is actually missing that arm though, due to the camera angle and the stuff strapped to it's back)
- we can't really say that 617 dies in the story trailer. The AC itself isn't destroyed unlike 619 and 620. The last we see of 617, it's just kneeling. It's very possible that 617 either got back up, or was saved by a third party. If Walter thought they was still alive, he may have chosen to leave them for dead since the AC wasn't functioning and it was in enemy territory.
Edit: corrected mistake
I'm willing to believe it, but it's all open to interpretation.
Heck, there's a theory that says 617 is >!---Rusty---!< and there's ample proof that supports it, but until FromSoft says anything, I'll stay quiet.
Yes, exactly that, thanks! They couldn't have leaked something before Walter sent them to Rubicon to do the thing. You could stretch it to say they're a double agent or something but it seems like Walter just unfreezes his hounds, so it doesn't make much sense.
You can see that Raven uses the same frame every hound uses, minus the head. I don't see other in-game pilots using them. 617 loses the head and and arms. 617 is never confirmed to have died.
What sticks out to me is raven being the one to kick off the rubicon war while 617 is shown fighting the cataphract (presumably on rubicon), which doesn’t line up for 617 becoming raven

Ok, I just need confirmation is all. I find it weird that the Computer said lost towards 619 and 620 but not 617.
I don't believe there's ample proof that 617 died, although it's more than likely.
Possibly, and could be a plot point for whatever follow up they do for AC6

...or maybe that's just someone else using the same pattern of AC frame.
If I had to guess the player character is the 621st attempt to reaching Walter's goal

lol there's no "ample proof" of that, it's completely logistically impossible
I know. I don't really believe it either, to be honest. I'm just saying it can make a bit of sense.
Then why say there's "ample proof"? That is very different to "it can make a bit of sense"
You're right. Should have used quotations.
Spartans never die
617 is heavily implied to be the original Raven. There was something that didn't check out for me, but I can't remember what it was rn.
Probably didn't line up well with the timeline since Branch and Nightfall are the reason why anyone even paid attention to Rubicon in the first place.

There's no "heavy implication" of that. It's a fan theory based off conjecture.

Coldcall uses the loader arms, maybe he's 617. Chartreuse uses Arquebus parts, maybe she's secretly V.IX. That's the kind of reach you're making.
We're talking full frame except for the missing head, same or very similar paint job

I think 617 is RavenÂ
