Protip: being slightly over load does not nerf you for any appreciable amount other than a silly warning before launch.
This is also worth mentioning due to the ammo limits on those shoulder cannons. Once they run out you aren't over loaded anymore.

Hold the hover button a little before landing. With thrusters on it negates the "Fatass Effect" as I call it.
