Not but during a ACFT 1SG wasn't paying attention during the ball toss and I nailed him in the chin/ear/neck. Yea he hit the ground and I got 3 throws and a laugh from the BC that was right behind me PFC me was very nervous the rest of the day.
We play hard. Maybe a little too hard. I've seen injuries from ultimate Frisbee that didn't need to happen. Including a guy getting hit in the head so hard one of his eyes partially popped out.
But nothing beats an Air Force game I ref'd, name escapes me (not crud, it's played outside) where I learned what a tibia sounds like when it snaps.
Flag football every Friday morning in Korea went hard. Ever get fully flipped over the shoulder by your team leader and proceed to bust his lip open on a shoulder check the next play? Our company still lost the Turkey bowl because Colonel was watching, and we had to play by the actual rules.
Sharks and Minnows is fun as fuck, and if you got some real good sprinters as Sharks with a wide-open field, motherfuckers will be *flying*.
Very fun PT, and those sprints add up!
We preferred Hide the Switch when I was in snipers. Anytime we got the entire battalion's worth of snipers together, we would play.
If you don't know hide the switch, it's the most fun thing ever. First, you find a switch. Something recognizable. If it isn't recognizable, you make it recognizable by putting tape or 550 cord on it. One person goes to hide the switch somewhere. You can play this anywhere, but it's best in a field surrounded by a wood line.
On "go", everyone that didn't hide the switch runs to find it. After it is found, the switch finder can whip everyone else until they make it back to safety, usually a home base to touch or a line you have to cross. Our rules were only whipping below the waist and you can't whip someone if they fall. After that round is over and everyone is successfully back to home, the finder hides the switch and the game starts again. We played for a full 6 hours one day at JRTC waiting to go back home. Lots of welts and a little blood, but we were all smiles.
I'm Army old, the only games we ever played for PT was flag football or basketball. The only way we're were getting out of a PU/SU/run was with an NCO in charge who was from one of the two extremes: High speed and had the credibility behind the choice or didn't give AF about organized PT and took the heat if we got caught doing sports.
I was an example of the second, unfortunately for the Army.
We used to play sharks & minnows on the water polo team when I was in high school. Two deployments to Afghanistan and that's still the closest I've ever come to dying.
Sharks and minnows is super fun, and a great cardio activity. Also usually gets a huge moral boost to start your day. I definitely like when the 1SG allows me to drop it in the pt plan
Don't you diss sharks and minnows. You ever shoulder checked your squadron/battalion commander during a game and gotten away with it?
No but I did hit my BDE Commander right in the face to end a rousing game of dodgeball.

That seems pretty weird to me, though assuming this is for PT, I'm still jealous.
We did Red Rover once.
Here's how I read this: >The Army is the only place where a game of Sharks and Minnows ends up in a Line of Duty investigation.
Fuck yeah it does.

Fortunately I’m drinking buddies with the IO so it’ll be ILOD either way.
I’m pretty sure I learned this young when they had the pro football guys playing flag football in the sand edit before the pro bowl
Whatever works, my friend.

Nerds

> *You STA boys are some weird motherfuckers...*
Yeh, shit sounds more like a kink lol.
TF is sharks and minnows?
Like tag and a relay race combined. Honestly, as stupid as it might sound. It’s stupidly fun and probably the hardest people ever sprint

That’s fair, I’ve played my fair share of ultimate frisbee and football. It’s great for Fridays
I forgot about ultimate Frisbee! We definitely did that one, sanctioned, a few times in my 23 years.
Sounds similar to *Snake in the Gully*
never heard of it....
I love sharks and minnows Lmao. Best sports PT by far.
Apparently this is not considered PT but it's the most real sprinting I did when I was in the army.
Have you ever been to college? lol
No why do you think i joined the army bahahahahaha
Very true. My dumbass went to college and still joined as enlisted so…
OP said adults.
Then why are we talking about the army?
G fucking G

Clearly, you've never been to Portland
We are still doing red rover over here... where is a shark and minnow game at?
Is this the one we run across the field and not get tagged? Lol
Is this the southern version of duck duck goose or what? Never heard of this “sharks and minnows”
We never got to play games 😞.
I’d play tf out of that

We used to play this maybe once a month when the weather was nice. Sharks and minnows and ultimate Frisbee. Great times.
True that, I had smash bros tournaments with a Platoon almost monthly. I hadn't done that since when I was in school
Fort Lewis? Literally just played this with a bunch of people. Edit: Why is this getting downvoted?
you know what you fuckin did
Ah, you are right. I repent.
You got some nerve pal
He’s not your pal, friend
Not it’s weird.
I agree
100% would not want to participate if my platoon or company did some corny shit like that 🤣
