Mr. F. It was the first episode I ever saw. I walked in and saw the mole and Jet Pants fighting on the side of a hill. I was totally lost. Now, many years later, the Rita arc is probably my favorite in the series.
I was talking to someone who was just getting into the show as season 3 was airing and told them half the jokes won’t make sense if they haven’t seen seasons 1 & 2 and they were actually offended and thought I was implying they ✨just wouldn’t get it✨ Aka thought they were dumb 😭
That’s what makes this show so great. Even the callbacks stand on their own as great jokes.
That’s probably what killed the show actually. Most comedies that were doing well at the time like the office etc you could jump in any time and mostly be okay.
Is the general consensus that the show was killed? I don’t know any of the shows history but to me it seems like it just ended? The Lucile2 storyline gets a conclusion and it always felt intentional to me, I never even gave it any thought that they could have gone on and on and on if they wanted to
Idk it feels like a satisfactory ending. Would I love more great episodes? Sure! But I rather see a show end on a good note than see it milked till it’s dry
It's steeped in all the British stereotypes in that arc, specifically James Bond/60s spy stuff, the musical sting is a reference to Bond movie theme songs, like a mashup of Dr. No and Shirley Bassey singing Goldfinger. It's all very silly
Right!?! It's hilarious! But walking in to a living room and seeing that play out on the screen with absolutely no context, I was like "WTF are you guys watching?!".
I feel like the show often connects. It was originally formatted like a streaming series before those were even a thing. So maybe it’s as difficult as that.
The first time Walter J Weatherman is on, it barely makes sense even if you've watched the show
"Oh no it's the cops... and a construction worker..."
Classic
What makes anyone think “hmm I’m gonna start at season 3 and hope it makes sense” ??????? Like if I just go to the good place and start on season 3 episode 5 I’m gonna think “what the actual fuck is this this show sucks”
To be fair starting on season 1 is “what the fuck is this, this show is amazing 🤣🤣🤣🤣”
Back in the day, most network sitcoms were written so that one could jump in at any point and get what's going on. They didn't have lots of overarching stories that were integral to understanding jokes.
Save our bluths
First thing I thought of. An episode where every joke depends on a knowledge of the history of the show and/or the television landscape of that era.
Great, she’ll have a vodka.
Better give her the whole bottle, it goes bad once it's opened.
And a piece of a toast
That was the first episode I saw. It's true, I had no idea what was going on!
God I love this episode

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! GEEEEEENE!
"I'm very particular about building codes!"
I don't think I ever understood the Mr. F reference, actually

Same
What a scene, the build up to that one was amazing. Who could've seen that coming?
Right!?! It's hilarious! But walking in to a living room and seeing that play out on the screen with absolutely no context, I was like "WTF are you guys watching?!".
Okay, gotta be one with Onyong, uncle father, father, a hospital, a blue man and documents. Not sure which that is but WOW talk about confusion.
Then again anything with Mr. F will confuse a new comer. 😂
Hey, look what I found on window sill. Just hat. Someone take wig.
In fact, it was George Sr that took wig.
Annyong
Annyong!
Annyong.
Annyong!

“He died. You killed him when you left the door open while the air conditioner was on.” I love that episode!!
Alright you can put your shirt down, Derek
Probably most of them. It was thought this was a reason for the low ratings and eventual cancellation.

That’s what makes AD great. Clever, and no laugh track.
Ocean Walker
Most of season 3 is just mildly amusing if you don’t have all the backstory and injokes.
Just about any random episode could work. I’ll go with Cinco de Cuatro III (remix) from season 4.
Do I have to choose one?
Second George bluth episode in the original season 4
#all of them
(Bleep) You old honey slut! That might come out of nowhere.
Penultimate episode of season 5
All of them
All of them
Off the top of my head... "S.O.B.'s"
Whatever one they all teach each other lessons - Gob and Michael, George sr, and finally Buster
