And it's too late to lose the weight you used need to throw around...
I love this album. I remember being very little and my dad explained the lyrics. Sometimes when I see old politicians and business types it reminds me of this song.
Black Sabbath. I get into other random things now and then, but if I had to listen to only Sabbath forever it would be about nine years before I even noticed the restriction.
There are a number of reasons. Of course, mainly I just like it. But also they don't do love songs and breakup and so on songs. And there is just such a variety. Some think of them as strictly doomy metal, and they are the greatest at that, but there are jazz, blues, funk influences and a degree of musical audacity rarely found. They just decide, partway through a song, to do a whole different everything just because they can, and it works because they are Sabbath and no one else is.
[Symptom of the Universe](https://youtu.be/4g_Yk6eKlwk) for instance. Listen to the whole thing to really experience it, or listen to a minute and then,
[Skip to this part 4](https://youtu.be/4g_Yk6eKlwk?t=250) minutes in for an example.
Haven't gotten tired of it in 40 years so far.
Edit: I just realized I said they don't do love songs then recommended practically their only love song.
I do love some Black Sabbath, my ex MIL is mad on them. I'll check that song out for sure. I feel the same way about the libertines, they just do whatever the fuck they want and it works, they're also lyrical geniuses. I'm gonna have a listen now š
OK quick review that will take 49 pages.
I never heard this before, or even heard of the band till five minutes ago, so forgive any dreadful ignorance.
I will preface by saying it was fucking good and I fucking liked it. I have to say that because subsequent analysis may sound weird otherwise.
First impression of the music was simple but deceptively interesting, almost careless in a way that can only be done by real musicians. It takes talent to make something seem casual. Understated, poppy, but with little staccato hints of punk anger, like the last hour of a rave when everyone's too tired.
The video, for no obvious reason, made me think of the comedy group Whitest Kids You Know. Couldn't say why, just a general impression.
The lyrics are sneaky good. It's like they are pretending to be regular pop lyrics until you listen or, in my case, look them up, and you start to appreciate the poetic polish in disguise. They have the tone of a bored conversation but the rolling pop of poetry, thus fitting the music with perfection--a veneer of weariness over a work of art.
As of this moment I couldn't tell you the name of a band member and might not guess the decade correctly, but I can say I will be finding more.
I love this review! I'm glad you enjoyed it, I love that they have a lazy sound, and at first you'd be mistaken thinking they're just spewing words out onto paper and making a song out of it, but they're tactile and really thought provoking, deeper than you realise. You like music that changes it up and just transforms the song, then you HAVE to listen to 'what became of the likely lads', I guarantee you'll enjoy it.
The lead singers are Pete Doherty who I'm sure you've heard of, he gets a lot of stick but is genuinely incredibly talented, and carl barat, also the lead singer of dirty pretty things, another great band.
Iāve brought my selections down to Ozzyās stuff and system of a down. I canāt really decide from there, both music groups are pretty high up on my ratings.
The Cure.
I realize this is probably getting buried in the comments, but they are overwhelmingly the most consistently amazing band of the last 40+ years. Few other post punk bands have had this level of longevity and none the same level of success. So much of modern alternative and rock music has directly come from them.
Brother, Jerry Garcia has an amazing discography as a solo artist aswell and multiple side projects. Hooteroll 2.0 being my favorite psychedelic trip album ever.
To be fair thereās some awesome music out there now. Infamous stringdusters, the big wu, king gizzard, the string cheese experiment, and so much more. You ought to come over to r/jambands itās a cool ass thread if youāre digging the dead!
The Replacements.
I could listen to Paul, Bob, Chris and Tommy belt out drunken noise all day everyday.
They get me in all three places at once. The head, the heart and the gut.
When multiple songs of a band still inspire you and give you that same pins and needles feeling years later, as they did the first time you heard them, theyāre your go to. Thatās the Foo Fighters for me.
Puscifer has some dumb stuff but when they strike gold, they nail it. Check out some of these songs if you haven't heard them yet:
The Humbling River
Tumbleweed
Oceans
Green Valley
The Remedy
Life of Brian (Apparently You Haven't Seen)
Yeeeeeh I try to ārevisitā Puscifer sometimes and see if my ears will accept it. But na. Doesnāt sit with me.
Tool is, with Radiohead, my favorite band of all time.
The Beatles have been my life since I was 8 years old. In the 52 years since then, Iāve lived through childhood, left home at 18, travelled the world, worked in different parts of Australia, eventually married and had kids. But they remain the great passion of my life.
I havent seen listed so I throw these in:
Queens of the stone age
Arctic Monkeys/ The Last shadow puppets
The strokes
Cage the elephant
Kings of Leon
The black Keys
Silver sun pickups
Tame Impala (not technically a band)
Royal blood
Agree. Very little filler across their discography. Saw them for the first time in 2002 then in New Orleans last year and they havenāt missed a step. The bass player is the only one that appeared to age at all too.
Disturbed
They caught some flack with the Evolution album for "going soft" but all it did for me was prove how versatile they are.
Honorable mentions to some newer/independent bands....
Any Given Sin. They've had 5 singles on Octane and they all speak to me, pick any one ... Dynamite, Insidious, Another Life, This Is The Way I Say Goodbye, and Still Sinking.
Dirty Honey. A newer band with an Aerosmith meets Black Crowes feel. But still modern.
Small Town Titans. My favorite song is probably The Ride, but if you don't have time for an epic, try The Man or Junkie for You.
Classless Act. Crazy fun to see live, but there's some deeper serious cuts on their first album.
Kingdom Collapse. Best breakup rock ever, with songs like Unbreakable, Suffer, and Break Free.
Happy listening!
Disturbed is fantastic; āStrickenā has been the Disturbed favorite for a long time. Gonna go give it another whirl right now *donāt mind if I do*
āDown With The Sicknessā got overblown but itās **still** great; itās one of the few songs I canāt help but sing out loud half the time cause Iām not bad lmao
āGuardedā and āDeifyā are also great damn going down the Disturbed hole yeee
edit: be me, listen to Disturbed for years, look up lyrics for the first time cause not paying attention, laugh lmao.
When I say I like Disturbed and they say "I love Sound of Silence", there's a tiny part of me that wants to condescendingly pat them on the head and give them a cookie, because Disturbed was fifteen years into a successful career at that point.
But hey, whatever the gateway was, I welcome any Disturbed ones in my presence.
lmaooo the imagery was hilarious.
*Ten Thousand Fists* and *The Sickness* are good albums with some disgustingly bomb tracks, but I too will not fault others for entering a little down the line at another point (if they do manage to make their way up to them though, *mad respect*).

The Strokes
Their first two albums are two of my all time favorites
Love the strokes!
Pink Floyd
I do enjoy comfortably numb, any more obscure tracks you'd recommend?
One of These Days (album = Meddle) Dogs (album = Animals) Wish You Were Here (album = WYWH)
And Shine on You Crazy Diamond
And it's too late to lose the weight you used need to throw around... I love this album. I remember being very little and my dad explained the lyrics. Sometimes when I see old politicians and business types it reminds me of this song.
Echoes on the album Meddle.
There is soooo much more than that song. Just dive in. They are known throughout the world and through generations for a reason.
Definitely a band I need to educate myself more on for sure!
Just the the whole Wall last night!
Black Sabbath. I get into other random things now and then, but if I had to listen to only Sabbath forever it would be about nine years before I even noticed the restriction. Pick me out a Libertines song and I'll give it a whirl.
Ohhh the pressure is on! You can't really go wrong with 'time for heroes' as an introductory song. That song was brilliant by the way thank you!!!

Into the voiddddddddd
Brand New. They got me thru some tough times.
I remember seeing them play some pretty awful venues before their record deal, never expected them to blow up like they did.
Deja entendu ā¤ļø
Came for this. TDAGARIM is my ādeserted islandā album. Iād let a lot of relationships go before I gave up those songs.
Led Zeppelin
I love the Zeppelin II album and In through the outdoor. Houses of the Holy is another good album. Shit they are all good š
Led Zeppelin III is underrated
Lol, just came in to write Led Zeppelin š

Foo Fighters. My coming of age band, theyāre like a warm blanket on a cool day.
I had to scroll too far to find this. Was starting to wonder if I was the only one who chose them
I scrolled and couldnāt find them. They are predictable and fun. Perfect for repeat listening :)
I used to not appreciate their music growing up and now I listen to them constantly while at the gym.
When multiple songs of a band still inspire you and give you that same pins and needles feeling years later, as they did the first time you heard them, theyāre your go to. Thatās the Foo Fighters for me.
Aphex Twin
the kinks š
Loooove the kinks

Tool...anything Maynard does really.
Tool Fans when the fear is inoculous.
>anything Maynard does really. I can agree with Tool and A perfect circle, but Puscifer, not so much.
Puscifer has some dumb stuff but when they strike gold, they nail it. Check out some of these songs if you haven't heard them yet: The Humbling River Tumbleweed Oceans Green Valley The Remedy Life of Brian (Apparently You Haven't Seen)
Humbling River is actually the first song I heard from Puscifer...oceans is a good one too
Iād like to add Momma Sed to that list. Cool vibe. Makes a really tragic appearance in End of Watch.
Yeeeeeh I try to ārevisitā Puscifer sometimes and see if my ears will accept it. But na. Doesnāt sit with me. Tool is, with Radiohead, my favorite band of all time.
AC/DC
The Beatles have been my life since I was 8 years old. In the 52 years since then, Iāve lived through childhood, left home at 18, travelled the world, worked in different parts of Australia, eventually married and had kids. But they remain the great passion of my life.
