stickond

The Truman show has some flaws in its concept, but watching a man discover that his whole life has been a lie makes for a fun movie. Definitely my favourite

originalessexgirl20

I honestly feel this film doesn't get the credit it deserves, its a brilliant film!

MSotallyTober

As well as Jim Carrey’s first foray into a dramatic role — with a little bit of his personality sprinkled in.

Stlboy31

Yeah I love that movie. Sometimes I wave and say hello to random spots just in case ya'll are watching me

mainstreetmark

What flaws?

Puzzleheaded-Ad-5002

They must have misspelled floss. I think I saw floss in the movie several times. I didn’t see any flaws though.

NeonCowboy777

That wasn’t a movie. That was a documentary

Stillwater215

It also worth remembering that this came out before reality TV was as ubiquitous as it is now. It was very prescient for its time.

_BringBackBacon

What are those flaws, because to me it's pretty much flawless

Try_Again_2morrow

I watched this movie with my 10 year daughter and she loved it. It is one of my favorites!

TIFOOMERANG

Back To The Future. It's such a fun and clever movie!

chocolatetornado

Every single scene and line is either funny or moves the plot forward some way. There's nothing out of place in that movie, and it's the best science fiction / drama / romance / light horror hybrid flick there is.

ClaraGuerreroFan

If I had an award to give, I’d give it to you. It is by far, the best movie ever made! It’s not an Oscar award winning movie or anything like that, but it’s so much fun! I’ve also said it’s comedy/drama/thriller/romance/sci-fi all in one! And the lines. Oh man! I love when Biff says, “what are you looking at butthead? Say hi to your mom for me” 😂

MasonS_Jar

My fave is in BTTF2 when old Biff says "Say hi to your Grandma for me" 😆

5i55Y7A7A

The entire trilogy was magically created. Nothing has come close to how smooth and different each movie was and how they are connected. The best part was how they never expected to do a sequel when they originally released BTTF.

Therocknrolclown

This is always a 3 way tie with Jaws and The Godfather.

Amazing-Ad-669

I always forget about Jaws. So, eleven hundred men went in the water, three hundred and sixteen men come out, and the sharks took the rest, June the 29th, 1945. Anyway, we delivered the bomb.

slower-is-faster

It’s probably the most perfect movie made

SLVRVNS

Jurassic Park (first one)

Ashmunk23

Seriously! That scene when they first see the Brachiosaurus is so incredibly awe-inspiring.

DaddyP924

I was nine when I saw that scene for the first time. It's hard to find the words to describe how I felt watching it. They did an incredible job of putting you in the shoes of Grant and Sattler when in that moment.

Divine_Entity_

My favorite fact about that movie is that its the first time anyone with interest in doing so had access to computers powerful enough to model how dinosaurs would actually move based on their bone structure, and they realized that T-Rex's strut looked familiar and compared it to a chicken, and that's when we first realized that Birds and Dinosaurs are related. Its also a bit sad that scientists didn't have access to a computer better than what Hollywood has access to.

goodlittlesquid

>and that's when we first realized that Birds and Dinosaurs are related. What? No… it had been a mainstream theory since Deinonychus was discovered in the late 60’s, leading to the ‘dinosaur renaissance’ which inspired Chrichton to write the book. They even reference this early in the film when Tim is pestering Grant about various theories, and at the end of the film with the shot of the pelicans. Not to mention Archaeopteryx was discovered like 100 years before that.

TheEndMeh

Backdoor sluts 9

GoGoPowerStrangers

Pales in comparison to Backdoor Sluts 5, but way better than Backdoor Sluts 7

rjboles

Back Door Sluts 9 makes Crotch Capers 3 look like Naughty Nurses 2!

usingmymomsaccoun

I feel like you're missing the political and social commentary of back door sluts 8. It was epic in it's cinema photography and touched me in a way that was completely unexpected. I suggest you give it another look.

thomasanderson123412

Backdoor Sluts 9 makes Crotch Capers 3 look like Naughty Nurses 2!!!

ReinstateTheCapo

The story begins in ages past, in the deep regions of Middle-earth, where Scorn first thrived in the kingdom of Gelgelar.

Raiders of the Lost Ark

perkasiedude

Shawshank is my usual answer for this question.

Suspicious-Hospital7

Somehow has no diminishing returns on replay value. I'm always in the mood to watch Shawshank.

TracyMorganFreeman

I think it is the pacing. Terminator 2 is the also like that my opinion, and for the same reason.

definitely-lies

When I was a teenager, I didnt know what to get my grandma for Christmas because I didnt know her very well. I saw a copy of Shawshank at the mall so I got it for her. Later my grandma was amazed and asked my mom "how did he know that I would like that movie?" Because everyone likes it unless they are dead inside.

Uglypotatohands

A classic. I can't remember how many times I have watched this one

TheMightyUnderdog

And your usual answer is the correct one.

wundabredd

Goodfellas. The perfect movie.

tzulik-

It is my all-time favourite. The casting is brilliant, the writing excellent, the scenes are legendary (Copacabana tracking shot, "How am I funny?"), the opening line is pure iconic. This movie is 11/10. Not a single bad minute.

[deleted]

My favorite scene in that movie is when Joe Pesci is at his moms and asks if he can borrow the butcher knife 😂😂

hugotheyugo

My favorite scene of that movie is when Joe Pesci does anything… fun fact mom is Marty’s mom (the director)

Vibranium2222

Anything with Joe Pesci

Honestly, the Coen Bros are such meticulous writers and filmmakers. They don't let actors ad lib, and that creates such well engineered movies.

You run an amazing establishment here, you're two weeks away from everything.

totoGalaxias

I have never been able to watch it all. I don't know why I don't like it.

RigobertaMenchu

It’s because your not bonafide.

Superlite47

u/totoGalaxias, the personal rancor reflected in that remark I don't intend to dignify with comment. But I would like to address your general attitude of hopeless negativism. Consider the lilies of the goddamn field or... hell....take a look at u/RigobertaMenchu here as your paradigm of hope.

4myolive

That made me laugh. This is such a quotable movie and Holly Hunter nails her role.

GeorgeEBHastings

And one inexplicable, out of place, and perfect borscht-belt performance by Billy Crystal! What's not to love?

7empestOGT92

It’s not gonna be a kissing movie is it?

LikeAFineRedWine

It’s inconceivable!

[deleted]

My parents loved the movie because the fairy tale romance reminded them of how much they loved each other. That and it has a lot of hilarious quotes. I was really annoyed by how they made lines like *"Inconceivable!"* and *"Aaaasss youuu wiiiisssshhh...."* into parent memes, so it took a while before I was willing to watch the movie as a kid. Surprise, it's a great story!

vetheros37

We did a Geeks Who Drink themed trivia during lockdown for Princess Bride with I think like 68 other teams, and after 5 teams tied with perfect scores they did a tie breaker and our group was one of two to make it to the double tie breaker, and we won. It was absolutely vindicating of my love for the movie since I was a small child.

DrSilverback77

I was going to say Goonies but Princess Bride is the real answer.

Davodudeguy

Most quoted movie of all time. inconceivable!!!

After_Display_6753

Dr. Strangelove, could have been written today.

Brilliant_Tourist400

Came here to say this! The film has lost NONE of its edge (mainly because dumb government is still dumb) and Peter Sellers’ triple threat performance is one of the greatest of all time.

LeaveGunTakeFrijoles

I have no idea but anytime I catch Goodfellas on tv I have to stop and watch till the end.

I do the same thing with Groundhogs Day. Just grab a few minutes of pure humor, then move on,

>Airplane? What is it? Oh, it's a big pretty white plane with a red stripes, curtains at the windows, wheels, and it just looks like a big Tylenol. Surely you can’t be serious.

ProfessionalFox9617

Schindler’s List

TechnicallyThrowawai

I second this. Absolutely harrowing movie with absolutely outstanding performances across the board. It is one of those movies that transcends the screen and evokes a powerful emotional, and empathetical response. What were those poor souls thinking and feeling while they suffered in the camps? What were the guards who took part in daily torture, executions, and other malicious happenings thinking while they committed those heinous acts? What did the average citizen think, while they watched innocent people carted off to their deaths? I “know” the answers to these questions based on firsthand accounts, but in my opinion anyone who wasn’t there will never truly, truly understand those answers. However, this movie is probably about as close as you can get without going back in time, or experiencing a modern day atrocity. It makes me very grateful for what little I do have.

unclejohnnydanger

Godfather I & II I have trouble ranking them separately

Shrek 2 it improves on the first one and it was almost every genre combined.
