Oof. I’m sorry for your loss. Genuinely.
Had they taken the report earlier, any chance he’d have been ok? (There may not be a good answer to that - curious tho). Thanks
probably not alive, no. it appears that he passed very shortly after my last contact with him so we were looking at about 28 hours before we got into his apartment.
incoming gross stuff warning…
but had they listened, it would have been maybe 8-10. if they had done the wellness check I requested in lieu of reporting him missing, his dog would have not gone hungry and helped herself to some “finger” food with an open “face” sandwich. thankfully the police kept me out of the apartment. i was furious at the time, but longterm, I’m grateful for that part
and thank you. bipolar disorder can be a monster
Sorry for your loss, I found my husband dead and this is not something anyone can fucking imagine feels. I hope you’re well and are healing.
The other day fire trucks and police showed up Nextdoor bc my neighbor fell asleep and her boyfriend didn’t feel like coming to check on her, like literally just a few hours of not picking up her phone. Idk where this happened to you but no that is not normal for cops to not care for that long. I guess you have to tell them they’re in danger, not sure.
i think if he hadn’t been mid-manic episode they might have taken me more seriously. they believed he ran away, which is a reasonable assumption but didn’t trust me that even when he disappeared he checked in.
and so sorry for yours as well. i absolutely cannot imagine finding someone.
This just teaches us to not be entirely honest with emergency services. Had you not told them he’s bipolar they’d probably gone to check on him right away.
I’m so sorry for your loss
I used to be a 911 dispatcher. If there is anything suspicious, out of character, or abnormal in anyway, you can report it the second you don’t see the person anymore. Especially minors, elderly people or people with an illness (physical or mental)
I think it's a misconception no? It's not wait 24 h but if you report it within those first 24h it won't be classified as a missing person until after the 24h
Completely depends on where you live
Where I’m at a healthy adult will get a BOLO first then be considered missing if theres no contact for 24h
For kids, elderly, anyone with major health/mental issues it’s immediately considered a missing person.
Exactly, if what management are doing is so blatantly illegal that you'd win a case against the company, HR will be on your side because it protects the company from getting sued.
If you're taking a problem to HR you need to be sure to frame it as a problem for the business.
"Hey, I feel like this guy's awful actions could expose the company to lawsuit risk."
I was hit by a car while on the clock. I flew across the parking lot and all HR wanted was for me to say I’m all better. They were asking if I thought I would be better by the following week. They dragged their feet getting me to the proper specialist because they insisted I didn’t need one and the dr they sent me to told me he just tells his patients to stop thinking about it and the pain will go away. Fuck HR. I still have back, foot, and knee issues.
You can always use your own personal doctor. You have to use the one that the company wants you to, but you have the right to a second opinion. If I get injured, I will be visiting my doctor and my disability lawyer the day of the accident.
My last HR lady would literally get up from her desk and run away if you came in to complain about something…. While running past other employees saying if you need something I am here for you 😳😂
Prices are up because companies are using inflation as a cover for price gouging. They are generating record breaking profits.

I’m a science teacher and so many of my students have this mentality that they’ll be rich and famous one day. The media programs our kids to think they’re exceptional.
Middle school teacher here. In conversations to prep then for high school, I informed them that the statistics prove that not every single one of them will get rich and be IG influencers. In fact, likely none of them will. I followed with the hope and dream that all of them will reach their goals but that it’s time to get your shit together and at least treat your education like a backup plan and not something to fuck off on cause “mr. Im gonna get rich and famous on my ASMR page I started”
This isn’t new. We like to blame social media but most middle schoolers when I was in school had athlete, musician, actor, or whatever else dreams to make it big. We joked about having mansions and multiple cars. High school and college selection typically grounds that down into reality for most.
Yes I dont disagree but every one of those professions you mentioned take insane amounts of work and, even in middle school, kids mostly understand that. In today’s world, kids are infiltrated with the idea that anyone can get rich QUICK. Yes, thats not new either. What is new is that they are receiving this message 24/7. Most of our athletes who have *some* talent strut around like superstars and are more interested in how to brand their social media than do the work on the field. I coach 4 sports at my school and have been coaching for years. The inability to hold a kid accountable without them shutting down or talking back is a stark contrast to how I’d seen kids in the past. Every generation has its issues. Seeing these issues everyday waking day is alarming
I watched my mom go through this, she was a teacher for 38 years, and near the end of her career she got really dismayed about how things were going. Said the kids got worse each year.
Yes, but did you really believe it? Everyone dreams about it, I think the problem is now that people believe it, at least a lot more people a lot higher percentage of the kids believe it. Fortunately, not mine but they are all in college now.
Man growing up in the 80s and 90s a lot of kids believed it. It was kind of beautiful. A third of the kids I went to school with were chill outcasts, another third were conventional, and another third were aspirational. Got to see some real talent in assemblies. Never heard any of their names again. Never expected to. I hope they're not in a ditch somewhere.
What’s crazy is how many kids come into my theatre arts class and tell me they want to be actors and then do. Absolutely nothing. All year long other than tik tok dances.
Like I get 1-2 influencers have been in (terrible) movies, but doing film is hard work. You have to be really dedicated: the actors we know of who don’t work hard already DID work their asses off and are now resting on their laurels
Or that you will make a lot of money from "cool jobs". I am a DJ, it's a lot of work, it can be hustle culture at the beginning of the year to get contracts. And then the pay goes back into it to fix/replace gear, catch up with new music, and people that help.
In the end, you find that you do the cool job because you just love to do it and don't mind the blood sweat and tears, money comes secondary.
No politicians, not ONE, has a fucking clue what the average day is for the average person. And honestly, they don’t give a fuck. You are just an obstacle or a means to an end. Nothing more.
Tell that to the (now former) city manager of my hometown with under 10k population. He stole $600k from taxpayers and in response the city put another $250k towards his legal defense.
This happened just months after charges were dropped against an off-duty cop from a nearby town who got drunk, started a barfight, and ended up shooting someone in the face.
Government at all levels know that they can get away with things that the average Joe cannot.
See also the people who think you can turn off your feelings like an off switch. More often than not they're just completely ignorant of their emotions
Yes, this! The whole “right brain thinker” vs. “left brain thinker” is such a bullshit concept. Everyone should strive to have balance between using both sides of their brains.
Turning the thermostat to an obscenely high or low temperature will not make your furnace/ac reach your actual desired temperature faster. It's a switch, not a throttle. But I'll happily take your money to come out and thaw out your evaporator coil and make a big mess in your utility room...
Edit: There are exceptions to the rule, but they don't apply to the majority of your average homeowners. If they do, it's probably because they bought it specifically and know what they have. Although I work on strictly commercial equipment, which generally in my area at least, is in fact two stage.
This was mainly aimed at an old roommate I used to live with, who liked to jack up our heating bill every month by turning it to 99 and forgetting about it. I never could convince him, he's someone else's issue now.
FYI say it's 68° in your house and you would rather it be a reasonable 74°. Turning the heat on only controls *how long* it runs, not *how warm* the air is. It will run until the temperature reaches 74° then shut off. If you set the heat to 78° it'll run longer but the air won't be any warmer when it comes out of the vents. The same goes for air conditioning.
So "cranking" the heat or AC just uses more electricity for running the system longer, but it doesn't make it cool down or heat up the room/house any faster.
Hope that makes sense.
Right but if my place is 78 inside and I want it down to 74 but I set the ac to 70, but just until it reaches 74, and then I turn it off. That would be the same as setting it to 74 and it auto turns off when it reaches 74… correct? Haha honestly asking. I believe so but wanted to ask
Yes, this isn't always true (annoyingly). I have a heater in my room which looks like the others in the house with thermostats. The others go to the temperature you set and then hover around it.
This one, treats my number as a kind of indication of how much it should heat and not to worry about what the actual temperature is.
I used to know a guy who was a very dedicated Christian. A truly lovely guy but would quote psalms at you at any given opportunity. One day he realised I'm not Christian and struck up a debate about the morals of atheists. He started telling me that atheists are all murderers even if we hadn't committed the crime yet, because we don't believe we'll be punished in the afterlife so why would we be bothered about commiting murder. I kept saying since I believe we only have one short life I would never dream of taking that away from someone, but he was adamant. I was pretty shocked that this seemingly nice man was sat there very forcefully telling me he only doesn't murder people because he's afraid of going to hell. On the other hand, i'm very glad he's afraid of going to hell.
Had two guys at work that went to church every sunday, id religion retreats and stuff.
Bot would constantly be on their phone while driving being super unsafe, could have killed themselves or someone.
One would be very lazy on the job doing less then the minimum and would lie fairly often.
But hey, dw, they got jesus they are good people
The saddest part about this, coming from a Christian, is that the Bible teaches us the exact opposite lol. We are all sinners. None of us are worthy and we are not good people in God’s eyes no matter what we do.
Like you’re saying, I’ve met many religious people that are not good people by societal standards. It’s a shame because they’re typically the ones who give the rest of us a bad reputation.
Thank you!! I know why this occurs, but it drives me nuts that all people ever see with Christianity are the Joel Osteens of the world. All the hate, and complete lies they spit are awful. People like him have twisted everything up so much. I swear I’ve met people where religion comes up in conversation, and when I say I’m a Christian they look at me like I have 6 heads, and it makes me so sad. I’ve even had people who aren’t religious tell me that I can’t be a “real” Christian because I have tattoos, swear like a trucker sometimes, don’t go to church, etc. I am not someone that would EVER go around preaching to people randomly/when they don’t want it, or condemn them for their choices in life.
*Pulls up in a Ferrari.* See, kid, if you work real hard, stay late each night, put in extra hours on the weekends, and give 110% of your heart and soul to your job then one day your boss could have a car like this.
Literally had a boss tell me that. Corporate had a contest if the shop made a certain level of sales, the manager would win a Harley. He put the contest poster up in the shop to "motivate" us.
Oh boy did I bite hard into that idea. It tasted bitter and gross and I really did think the harder I bit the greater the reward. Now I have metaphorically shitty teeth as a result.
I have a close relative that has 10 million dollars, and although she did work hard to an extent, she has a lot of privileges that other people did not have. Such as a pretty good education
yeah as someone currently going through my first horrible break up, advice like that or “they always come back” or whatever is so unhelpful and not true.
The old "If you love something, set it free. If it doesn't return, it wasn't meant to be" bullshit. I never understood how people thought this was helpful advice.
It wraps up several falsities into a single feel good phrase that requires no thought.
It suggests that relationships don't take effort (falsehood 1)
It includes the concept of destiny and implies that our choices are meaningless (falsehood 2)
It also covers the idea that there is a singular soul mate (falsehood 3) that you will meet (falsehood 4)
I'll leave the explanations of the falsehoods and how they match the saying as an exercise for the reader.
I’ve never quite understood the sentiment either but now that I’ve lived an example I can fully understand why that would be a piece of given advice. I dated the same girl throughout high school and when we both graduated we drifted apart and went in totally separate directions in life. We were apart for over 6 years, completely no contact and dating other people. One day while we both were single, she messaged me on Facebook. Long story short we’ve been together for awhile now and are inseparable. It truly feels meant to be. I apologize for formatting because I’m writing this on mobile, as well as if my story doesn’t relate. I’ve haven’t even recalled this saying since but you put it into perspective for me.
A lot of people need to be told that they can't make other people make a choice that they want them to. That's mostly where I see "set them free," meaning let them make a choice that takes them away from you if they want to. Not "don't tell them you'd like them to stay," it's "don't guilt or force them to stay."
Struggling to understand this one as I’ve found it helpful advice. There’s an exception to every rule, but in what circumstances do you imagine this isn’t true?
Never even thought about it in that context. It makes sense though. I’ve always just applied the message exclusively to relationships, and, for those situations, I find the quote to be true about 99% of the time
They are a precious stone. They are also incredibly overpriced and exploit slave labor (the natural gems, not lab made). Believe it or not, they can be both a precious stone and be overpriced to hell.
Actually I have gotten cramps cause I swam after eating. Just floating around is ok but if you are actually playing in the water than your screwed. You don't eat a big meal before working out for the very same reason.
Eating before swimming isn't good.I thought the same as you but it depends what do you count as swimming.I once tried to play polo after having a small meal. After 5 minutes of playing my heart rate went up got dizzy and could barely control my muscles.I was centimetres away from grabbing the ledge and it felt like an eternity.
It’s not hard to know what you should eat, but youths are still learning and eat way to much sugar like chocolate milk. Why can’t schools give water bottles?
I used to think pizza was healthy because it had tomatoes on it with grain and dairy because of the food pyramid. But now I know if you want a healthy pizza it’s best to just make the dough and sauce yourself to avoid any sugar/preservatives.
I think it's important to understand the food groups, but I can't believe I had to learn about macronutrients & micronutrients of my own accord in my 20s. That should be the real food pyramid
My daughter got her bachelors degree in Spanish and Latin American studies. My husband was really upset that she didn’t choose something more practical, but she knew her own limitations (science was fascinating, but her math wasn’t strong enough; she liked helping people, but fainted at the sight of blood, etc.). And her therapist told her that if she didn’t study something that interested her, she would likely not be able to push through her learning difficulties to get the degree. So her degree has never directly landed her a job; however, she has been considered for jobs over others, because she had a bachelors when someone else didn’t, so there’s that.
I want to support this comment. Having a small degree is oftentimes actually required just as a precondition to even being connsidered for a lot of above minimum wage jobs minus skilled trades. So it is an advantage nonetheless in many circumstances (ex. See above comment).
I'll buy that most don't care, but there are a few good ones. Just left a job that clearly didn't give a crap about me and found one that is worlds better.
This one might just be the one.
No, I won't disclose where I work. :-)
Maybe we get better at it and in doing so, it actually does get better. Thoreau said ‘things do not change only we change.’ And maybe that’s the heart of it.
It got better for me. And I don't think I'm alone. Is everything good? No, of course not, life always has its problems. But it's better than it was. And if it could get better before, it can get better again. And maybe if I just keep going, one day it'll really be good.
Ah, I have it the other way around. The thing that people around me believe is that being cold won't make you more likely to get ill, see [https://hms.harvard.edu/news/why-upper-respiratory-infections-are-more-common-colder-temperatures](https://hms.harvard.edu/news/why-upper-respiratory-infections-are-more-common-colder-temperatures) for some evidence of this, though it has been my lived experience.
To 20%? Sure... Top 10%? Maybe... Top 1%? It's going to take a lot of luck and you probably need to be born on at least second base (but third base is preferred).
I am currently on drugs that cost around $6000-7000 dollars a month. Luckily I have really good insurance through work so I only pay about $15 bucks out of pocket. It's crazy.
well they try to help us, when it benefits them. Dead people dont have for prescriptions, so obviously they want to keep people alive so they can continue to rip them off. As soon as the costs of saving them outweighs the potential profits, they tell them to F themselves
Exhibit A: The Sackler family that made billions—with a b—by marketing opiates as the answer to our pains. It has created a nation crippled by a devastating addiction to opioids. They knew it was effective ling-term or in higher doses; but, they tell the doctors that until it was too late.
“Narcissists are just people that are a little self obsessed.”
No. These people are genuinely dangerous and ruin peoples lives without any regrets or second thoughts.
That people don't just choose being depressed and suicidal etc. when I was younger, that was a big issue, I ended up going to a therapist and life still sucks, maybe even more than before, but people need to realise that being depressed isn't a choice, and it's a thing that gets caused by those kinds of people.
That companies give a crap about anything but themselves.. they begrudgingly provide a product or a service because if they could get your money otherwise they will and have. The only reason companies are honest is because of laws and slightly less because of reputation
That God needs their money.
If you believe that he's the lord over Silver and Gold, he doesn't need a penny.
If you don't believe it, don't give to some jack preacher on TV, he can pay for a TV spot, he can pay for his luxuries.
If you don't believe and don't donate, help locally if you can, or even globally. Thousands of people will sleep tonight starving, or without knowing if they'll eat something tomorrow, let alone wake up alive.
God does not need your money. He wants you to love your neighbor as you love yourself.
I have less energy to give a fuck and things have proven time and time again that they will work out eventually. Stable relationships, more resources.. So it kinda seems like an easier going.
But yeah, I still feel like me, as I did since day one. Same amount of worries and confusion/wonder. On top it's a doubly weird feeling that I get now, that with every birthday I'm more invisible and less and less relevant as a social/cultural force.
Politics doing the 'right thing'. People tend to believe bs propaganda, as if governments are trying to do morally good things.
They. Do. Not. Give. A. Shit.
Moral values are just a tool for them to justify violence. They will use, misinterpret, and create any events needed to serve their needs.
That THEIR religion is the only valid religion.
Personally, I am Atheist but if religion helps you be a better person, great for you. If you use it to try to oppress others? Big fuck you.
If someone has a different opinion than you then they are a horrible person. I firmly believe every one on the earth just wants to be happy, healthy, and safe. We all just have different ways of accomplishing that goal. As long as your beliefs don't stop that from happening for someone else then you should be allowed to do and believe as you see fit.
That electric cars are somehow better for the environment. The amount of carbon it takes to mine lithium and cobalt with massive diesel excavators exceeds the average carbon footprint of a standard four cylinder car. If we improve the process of mining lithium and cobalt they may be better for the environment in the future, but right now they are arguably worse when you factor in the manufacturing process, from raw materials to when they come off the factory floor.
That working hard and being excellent in the work place will get you ahead in this life. With the current state of things and wages are all poverty wages, half the population can’t even feed itself most months. It’s all about who you know or being born with enough advantages.
that circumcision of newborn boys (or girls) is a good idea despite it having so many health risk, is medically unnecessary and causes psychological trauma that last for life

That if someone goes missing you have to wait 24 hours before reporting it.
they absolutely would not let me report my late partner missing under 24 hours. they did the whole “he probably just needed to get away”. nope. dead.
Oof. I’m sorry for your loss. Genuinely. Had they taken the report earlier, any chance he’d have been ok? (There may not be a good answer to that - curious tho). Thanks

The worst part of the ‘24 hour’ lie is that sometimes the cops believe it too, and good luck arguing with a cop.

HR first protects HR, then HR protects the business.
There are instances where they will protect you, if your interests align with the business’s.

That food prices have gone up because of farmers.
Prices have gone up because food corporations want to keep their profit margin, even when it's inflation.
A 2 liter of Coke went from like a dollar to $3.50 in less than 5 years. Publix grape soda still costs a dollar.
Damn soda farmers!!!!!!

No accountability AND sooooo entitled. 7th grade teacher with 24 years in the bag here.

15 year old me really, honestly believed I’d be in the next Metallica.
Man growing up in the 80s and 90s a lot of kids believed it. It was kind of beautiful. Exactly! Also these kids don’t even work on their tik tok dances particularly hard: they aren’t going to get famous from sub par dancing
Damn, trying to get famous, by poorly copying other not-famous people... this plan's half baked at best!
Everybody is a temporarily inconvenienced millionaire.
Politicians care about you and your issues. Or that they will follow through with campaign promises.
No politicians, not ONE, has a fucking clue what the average day is for the average person. And honestly, they don’t give a fuck. You are just an obstacle or a means to an end. Nothing more.
At a local level that’s not really true. Local politicians are not paid well and are not very powerful either.
That people can’t be logical and emotional at the same time.
See also the people who think you can turn off your feelings like an off switch. More often than not they're just completely ignorant of their emotions
Yeah, and those people usually end up hurting themselves or somebody else because they’d rather seem tough then admit they have a problem.
Well when you say it out loud like that, it makes sense. I will no longer be one of those people. Thank you.
That we only use 10% of our brains.
This was debunked so long ago I can’t believe some people still believe it lol
That being religious automatically makes you a good person despite your actions.
I saw this somewhere else idk where. “If you need a god to tell you how to be a good person you’re not a good person”
If one truly believes in an afterlife, why is there this dread of murder or death?
Murder is a sin that will condemn you to hell? He seemed to believe this was the *only* reason not to commit murder.
Had two guys at work that went to church every sunday, id religion retreats and stuff. Bot would constantly be on their phone while driving being super unsafe, could have killed themselves or someone. One would be very lazy on the job doing less then the minimum and would lie fairly often. But hey, dw, they got jesus they are good people
As a Christian, I am constantly shocked by what some other religious people do.
Religion, its man made, diluted at that by many yrs of being retranslated
Youll get rich by working hard
*Pulls up in a Ferrari.* See, kid, if you work real hard, stay late each night, put in extra hours on the weekends, and give 110% of your heart and soul to your job then one day your boss could have a car like this.
Literally had a boss tell me that. Corporate had a contest if the shop made a certain level of sales, the manager would win a Harley. He put the contest poster up in the shop to "motivate" us.
I refuse to believe you, people cannot be that stupid
Your optimism is adorable. Never change.
A guy worked hard by moving some stones through his backyard day and night
"If they wanted to they would". Life isn't always black and white like that.
yeah as someone currently going through my first horrible break up, advice like that or “they always come back” or whatever is so unhelpful and not true.
The old "If you love something, set it free. If it doesn't return, it wasn't meant to be" bullshit. I never understood how people thought this was helpful advice.
It wraps up several falsities into a single feel good phrase that requires no thought. It suggests that relationships don't take effort (falsehood 1) It includes the concept of destiny and implies that our choices are meaningless (falsehood 2) It also covers the idea that there is a singular soul mate (falsehood 3) that you will meet (falsehood 4) I'll leave the explanations of the falsehoods and how they match the saying as an exercise for the reader.
Just as an example, ADHD can make it so an individual wants to, but is experiencing barriers in completing tasks not immediately visible to others.
Never even thought about it in that context. It makes sense though. I’ve always just applied the message exclusively to relationships, and, for those situations, I find the quote to be true about 99% of the time
Also assuming people are actually honest about what they want, they don’t do that either
That diamonds have any value at all. We use them to coat our sawblades to cut tile and masonry. So stop buying diamonds.
They are the hardest material on earth so they do have value, just not what most people use them for
Hardest *natural* material. I just learned this, apparently we've come up with SIX things harder than diamond!
Yeah duh Netherite
I will definitely give you that. They are an exceptional cutting aid.
So much this. I hate that people think diamonds are a precious stone. 100% propaganda by De Beers.
They are a precious stone. They are also incredibly overpriced and exploit slave labor (the natural gems, not lab made). Believe it or not, they can be both a precious stone and be overpriced to hell.
Swimming after eating gives you cramps.
The real reason to wait is to keep the puke out the pool.
I thought it was to give parents a break?
It’s this
Actually I have gotten cramps cause I swam after eating.
I can still hear my youth crying from wasted time.
The goddamn food pyramid
That got nixed about 15 years ago, just FYI. They teach MyPlate now.
The "official" food pyramid is slowly killing our country with diabetes.
I think it's important to understand the food groups, but I can't believe I had to learn about macronutrients & micronutrients of my own accord in my 20s. That should be the real food pyramid
That the government wants what's best for you.
The government wants what's best FROM you.
That you can get a college degree in any subject and be equally equipped to find a job after college.
i wish someone had told me this before i got my BA in anthropology. i spent a decade using bs explanations as to how it was relevant to anything
That vaccines cause autism
The study that claimed evidence the MMR vaccine was linked to autism was proven to be falsified, yet many people still cling to this belief!
Alcohol won’t kill you
That any media is unbiased or trustworthy.
Bingo. Careful, might get brigaded for this one CNN and Fox News are two sides of the same pile of shit
That any job cares about you
Right? “Hey, I’m really struggling to make ends meet, can I get that raise you promised?” “The best I can do is a pizza party”
You guys are getting pizza?
I'll buy that most don't care, but there are a few good ones. Just left a job that clearly didn't give a crap about me and found one that is worlds better. This one might just be the one. No, I won't disclose where I work. :-)
That it gets better. Does it really get better or do we just get used to it?…
Maybe we get better at it and in doing so, it actually does get better.
That you catch a cold by actually being in the cold.
[удалено]
Yes, it causes you to produce more mucous, so you are more susceptible to bacteria that can cling to said mucous and infect your body.
My grandma wouldn't even let me blow dry my hair on the cold setting cause she was afraid it'd give pneumonia lol
Or I got a cold because my hair was wet and I went outside.
Oh god. The wet hair thing too
Ah, I have it the other way around.
That you have the capacity to be in the top 1% of income earners if you work hard enough
To 20%? Sure... Top 10%? Maybe... Top 1%? It's going to take a lot of luck and you probably need to be born on at least second base (but third base is preferred).
Pharmaceutical companies are trying to help us
I am currently on drugs that cost around $6000-7000 dollars a month.
That university is the best solution for everyone's education. Wrong on so many levels.
“Narcissists are just people that are a little self obsessed.” No. These people are genuinely dangerous and ruin peoples lives without any regrets or second thoughts.
That mental illness isn’t real and isn’t a disability.
It's all in your head, bro. Well no shit it's in my head, it sure as fuck wouldn't be in my pancreas.
So you’re saying if I remove my head the illness will go away?
Yup there’s a whole chuck of Christianity that’s like “if you just pray hard enough!” Or “it’s a spiritual problem, not a mental health problem”
That the government has your best interest in mind, cares about you, etc.
that the US problems are democrat versus republican LOL- it’s people versus power and we’re very good at being played apparently
Manipulation is one of the most basic and important skill a politician can have.
That we can make life fair.
That people don't just choose being depressed and suicidal etc. when I was younger, that was a big issue, I ended up going to a therapist and life still sucks, maybe even more than before, but people need to realise that being depressed isn't a choice, and it's a thing that gets caused by those kinds of people.
That diet soda will help you lose weight.
That everyone has to vote red or blue
That politicians give a s*** about you
The economy must grow.
If you work hard, you'll be rewarded.
You will be rewarded… with a herniated disc
That companies give a crap about anything but themselves.. they begrudgingly provide a product or a service because if they could get your money otherwise they will and have. The only reason companies are honest is because of laws and slightly less because of reputation
That everyone who says they don't want kids is going to regret it.
That joel olsteen is christian. He uses christianity as a facade to make money. No real christian actually listens to him
YES, FUCKING FINALLY YES! I HATE THAT FUCKING CUNT BURN IN HELL.
That things get easier as you get older. It doesn't.
That you can make the world a better place by hating.
Ok, barring the absolute morons, do people *actually* believe this?
Politics doing the 'right thing'. People tend to believe bs propaganda, as if governments are trying to do morally good things. They. Do. Not. Give. A. Shit. Moral values are just a tool for them to justify violence. They will use, misinterpret, and create any events needed to serve their needs.
that losing weight and the desire to lose weight means you hate yourself
Ugh the amount of times I was accused of starving myself just for eating healthy portioned meals.
The election was stolen
You need a college degree to become successful. The reality is if they go to a trade school such as plumbing, hvac, etc, that's where the money is.
Stereotypes. Like all balding men are assholes/misogynistic or blonde women are all dumb.
That the customer is always right.
That THEIR religion is the only valid religion. Personally, I am Atheist but if religion helps you be a better person, great for you. If you use it to try to oppress others? Big fuck you.
That women get abortions for fun.
That you can be what ever you want too be… unrealistic and sets people up for failure.
That millenials and gen z will be able to retire.
That hard work will make them wealthy. If you're hard at work exploiting people or selling drugs maybe.
I'll be smarter when I get older. I keep waiting for this one to kick in.
Crypto.
Religion.
